Fiach was, above all, a pragmatic type. She enjoyed analysing situations – yet appreciated her ongoing development represented something of a conundrum. On one hand, despite her logical mind, she eschewed plans. On the other, she preferred to scrutinise over making snap decisions. It was, therefore, a strange blend of progress she knew she had to undertake.
Then, of course, there were times when planning was irrelevant and the opportunity to investigate was not possible…like now. If Fiach had the time to make a decision, it would have been well considered and entirely logical. Instead, she had no choice but to react on instinct.
She was experienced enough to not lower her guard as the sniper began to lower his rifle – and so his subterfuge did not have the effect he was no doubt hoping for.
As her eyes spotted his sudden movement, and the light that told her what he was throwing at her, she reacted. Her right hand dropped from her saber hilt and she extended her palm towards the miscreant and channelled the Force.
The detonator stopped in mid-air and then reversed its trajectory – heading straight back at the sniper – who’s look of fear made Fiach feel most uncomfortable.
