The first time Jenza Ryiin had seen the kid, it was locked up in a cage that looked like it was made for womp rats. Gaborra the Hutt was particularly proud of his prize and wasted no time informing the scum of Jakku that he had caught a "Jedi whelp." Whoever won his big race could take and do with it as they wished. For her part, Jenza tried to ignore this. It wasn't her job to save every lost soul chained in the grasps of the Hutt Clan. But in the nights since she had first spotted the kid peering out with its big dark eyes from behind the metal bars of its cage, she could hardly shake the ghosts of her father's voice on the day he had given her up.

House Ryiin hasn't any room in it for a freak — Sithspawn — whatever you are. From now on, you will be someone else's problem. You're no daughter of mine.

It had been well over a decade, but recalling the words never ceased to make her wince. But this time, they had done something... more, as well. She pulled a pair of goggles down over her eyes—goggles that would protect her eyes from the sand—and tightly gripped the handlebars of her swoop bike. Jenza had survived on racing starships all these years, but swoops were something new.

How different could it be, really? she thought to herself.

She chanced a look back at the kid. Its cage was seated directly next to the mustard-colored Hutt and its tiny hands were on the metal bars, eyes peering out at the racers that sought to enslave it or sell it to the Five Syndicates. She turned away, closed her eyes briefly, and focused. She could do this. No one else had to be like her—given away for something they had no choice but to be. She would make sure of it. With a flip of a switch, the engines of her swoop bike roared to life.

A Pantoran woman—one of Gaborra's attendants—stepped forward behind her and said in Huttese. "One circuit. Across the dunes, around the Star Destroyer, and back. Anything goes. First one back will win His Lordship's illustrious prize." She paused. Raised her blaster into the air and waited for the signal from her master, who surveyed those gathered to make sure the other racers were in their positions and ready to go. @Sreeya
