Varus and Ravyn had found an ancient underground base that had been dormant for centuries most likely on Krowsnest. It would be the perfect base of operations. Before they can be sure it would remain a secret they would need to track down the remaining pirates that had discovered the base as well. They found communications that had pointed to a small base of operations in a hollowed out asteroid base in a nearby system.

It likely belonged to the same people who had built the base on Krowsnest. Varus wasn't sure if the pirates had been tipped off after they had attacked the group that was still searching the base when they stumbled upon it. So as soon as he had returned from the mountain, he explained to elders of his clan what he had found and the potential the base held. They had tasked him with hunting the remaining survivors and had sent Solone with him.

Varus hated flying. It wasn't that he was a bad pilot, he actually was a half decent fighter pilot but the small space of a fighter cockpit made him uneasy. He was glad to not be out here alone. Solone had beaten him on Kashyyk and Varus respected her greatly. He could see her rising to lead the clan one day if she continued the way she had been.

He fell into formation beside her fighter. They had been out here a while searching for the hidden base. There were countless asteroids, and they hadn't seen a thing. The base was either completely dormant or it was shielded in some way. Hopefully, they weren't too late. "Any ideas?" he said breaking the long silence between them.

Solone was unsure how she got roped into this adventure; she had tried to sneak away to hang out with Burkhart, but was pulled back to assist Varus. Not that she didn't mind, the man had almost beat her on Kashyyk, and she had paid the price with extra training lessons for the weakest of their clan. She didn't care to teach hormonal seventeen-year-olds how to joint lock one another, it didn't help they seemed to fight who would be the lucky one to pair with the teacher. Bless the heart of their instructor for putting up with them on a regular basis.

Varus had explained the purpose of this flight as they weaved in and out of the slow-moving astroids, her fighter was nimble, but it made her nervous to be in an asteroid field. It made her more nervous that they didn't really know what they were looking for and Arda felt it was a trap. Then again, perhaps he was making something from nothing, that base he had found had to be abandoned for some time as they were more than careful with the air traffic that came around Krownest. Regardless, she would help him, she probably would have helped him without the Elders telling her to do so, because it was what she did, a minor weakness in all the strengths she carried.

She heard her come chime and Varus inquiring her thoughts and Solone shook her head, "I feel like this is a wild bantha chase, Varus." she said and fell silent, reading the latest scan from her sensors. They were blank again and she frowned, "There is a lot of debris too, its going to be hard to find anything here on the scanners." she explained.

"Wild Batha hunting is probably a lot more exciting than this." he said warmly as his ship lazily dipped around another asteroid. "I am sure they are out there somewhere." he said flipping on his scanner.

As they went deeper into the asteroid field, he started to pick up a large amount of interference. His instruments all seemed to go crazy. He entered a small patch of the field that was littered with small particles of rock. They battered his fighter.

His ship had taken a small amount of damage by the time he had exited the debris field. These pirates were turning out to be a major thorn in his side. Hopefully, they would find them quickly so they could put this business behind them.

"I am getting nothing. Let's move on to the next quadrant" he said as he pushed further into the asteroid field.

THEME
For this operation the Morling was both doing his friends a favor as well as completing an endeavor for the Mandalorian people. It always helped to have connections with useful people and those that were good company. The Wren clan was one such clan. While many clans had their beefs with one another Kelborn had long been neutral. Only now had they joined House Solus of recently.

He exited hyperspace in time to see Varus's and Solone's starfighters. "Pologiez for tha late arivool. Had soom business ta take car ov." He said over the closed mandalorian channel. It had been somewhat illegal in terms of imperial laws but had not made much of a difference in mandalorian space. One of the perks of having a class 1 hyperdrive on his ship meant he could let meetings run later and still arrive at his next destination on time. "Didn't miss mooch did I?" He asked and began turning on the Waxa class scout ship's scanners. After a few moments his superious systems would detect an abnormality though the asteroids must be making things difficult because he was unable to tell what it was, only where it was coming from. "My scanners picked oop sumthin oop ahead. Should be coomin in ta sight soon."

With the arrival of Burkhart, Solone decided to move on to the next sector to continue scanning so they could cover ground quicker.

"Not unless you like looking at rocks." he said with a chuckle "It's good to see you, Burk." he added. They had worked together before and he was always welcome around Clan Wren.

His scanners were still picking up too much interference, this display flickering somewhat. "Oh, come on." he said flicking the display several times. He hated technology sometimes, it never seemed to work right for him. Making an adjustment he re-adjusted them to only scan the direction Burk had picked up something.

As they grew a bit closer, pulling out of the cloud they were in, his sensors snapped to focus. Picking up the four fighters exiting what appeared to be an asteroid by was giving off faint signals.

"Four fighters incoming." he stated, diverting the power back to his weapons. "Hope you came looking for a fight." he said, looking out through space at the Morling...of course he did.

"Noh really, noh onless they sparkle" He piped back with a smile behind the words. "likewise mate" He added to the end of the warm welcome. The marauders onboard his ship were quiet as ever. Burkhart was probably one of the more outgoing Kelborn indivudals. But it had come with the territory and helped with him being the Clan Leader.

While the Effervescent's scanners had picked up the energy signature but it was Varus's ship that would call out the individual enemy contacts. Burkhart adjusted his controls with practiced ease and honed in on the specific area and position his comrade had indicated. He saw the ships with his ship's scope and after a moment he was able to identify the unique ship types. They were not flying proper Identify - Friend / Foe (IFF) tags that indicated they were anything but the corsairs they Mandalorians were looking for.
"Boogies foor sure. Weapons hot..." He said with some increased intensity to make sure his crew was snapping to their stations and bringing their eyes up. "... only one bi-vane, the oothar three are pulsars by the looks of em."

His ship's shields were ready and he would move in top speed to close the distance. He refrained from using the XXX sublight booster for the time being, he did not want to strain his ship too much. His crew mate fired from the turret, leading his shots on one of the pulsars. He knew that it would be a moment before the bi-vane would be even close to jumping to hyperspace and had chosen to prioritize the faster, harder to hit ship early on before it could outpace them. He seemed to have warned his team though before his ship blew up in a ball of fire because the remaining three broke off all in separate directions. The two mandalorians would then have to leave one alone for the time being to chase the other two. It was a good tactic and these pirates were no amateurs.

The four ships opened fire as they approached, but broke off when Birk scored a hit, causing the lead fighter to explode. "I'll go left" he said rolling his ship away, to dodge oncoming fire.

He had to leave the other two, sure the Burk would get one of the others. Varus and the fighter he chased, dove in,out, and around asteroids. The dense field made it difficult for the Mandalorian to get a good shot off at him.

The Pulsar dove into a hollow asteroid and instead of following, Varus threw his thrusters to the max, he turned hard going around the giant rock.

He came at the Pulsar from the side, firing his lasers. Within seconds, the ship exploded into flames. He quickly turned his ship around as he began looking for the others.

This was either going to go very well or very bad. Burkhart would have his ship going at maximum speed, forcing his large shape to press into the pilot's chair from the gee forces being applied to it. It was still not fast enough to completely keep up with the enemy's ship when it zoomed past but he did not need to chase the pulsar because the mandalorian operating the manual controls of the turret fired a fantastic barrage of light laser cannon shots into is wings causing it to spiral and then strike an asteroid.

The Effervescent would turn to find another target. By now Burkhart had just powered down his scanners for the time being as well as 'amenity systems' like the medical bay. There was no need to supply power to that equipment when he was focusing on trying to keep the shields power maxed and also utilizing his engines with the weapons systems. The military grade power core was good but the man also did not want to put too much into the essential upgrade.

He shot around the asteroid, turning back towards the fight. It was hard to see anything in the maze of rocks. His eyes went to the explosion as Burk took at the third fighter.

There was one more out here somewhere. Varus looked again, moving through the rocky debris. Nothing. He growled, switching back on his scanner.

It powered up, the field was too dense, it was messing with his systems. "This piece of shit ship!" he yelled, slamming an aggravated fist into the console. "You see where the last one went, Burk?" he asked his companion as he swung his ship around still scanning and looking with his eyes. The bastard was out here, somewhere.

The enemy star fighters were not putting up much of a fight. That was about as much as he could say. The asteroid field was causing more problems than the actual corsair crafts were. He heard heard Varus curse over the communication link, probably not realizing he could hear him the whole time. At first Burkhart wondered if the man had been shot but the follow up question made him realize he was just frustrated by his relatively basic vessel.

"Lemme ave a look see." He responded and began tuning and flipping switches. They had taken out the last of the Pulsars so only the one Bi-Vane remained. It had a hyperdrive so if it was smart it was probably going to try and clear the strange energy signatures and the asteroid field. Just as he expected he got a positive reading on the Bi-vane heading out of the asteroid field. But it was closest to Varus's ship. It would be coming into his field of view soon enough. "Should be flyin across yer nose any minute now." He called back to inform his wingmate.

Varus didn't see the ship but he headed towards where he thought the ship may be heading, out of the asteroid field. His ship still wasn't picking up anything, his sensors must have been damaged in the earlier.

He had found himself out in front of the remaining fighter. He didn't see anything until the first laser shots came in front of him. As he went to roll away from the enemy fire, a shot ripped through his left wing. It took with it one of his blasters and one of the main thrusters for the ship.

Alarms sounded indicating the heavy damage to his ship. He couldn't take another hit like that or he would be space dust. Varus barely dodged an asteroid as he rolled away, his ship was almost impossible to control in its current state. Hopefully, Burke could finish the last fighter off before Varus found himself vaporized.

Moving his ship he had adjusted to follow after Varus's vector towards the bi-vane. However it would seem things did nto go as planned. They never seemed to when it came to Burkhart's luck. One of these days he was going to have a sit down with the gods and get an explanation for why they were always giving him crap. It was probably for a good reason but he still grumbled about it.

Burkhart must have not given precise enough directions. Maybe the asteroid field was giving too much interference, acting as a natural jammer to their communications because when the Morling tried guiding him with an additional communicae it did not get a response.

The Effervescent exited the asteroid field just in time to see the Wren clan member's ship getting a piece taken out of it by the ossein designed star fighter. The turret on his ship opened up on the shieldless brigand ship. Twin light laser cannon salvos landed one after another causing it to be holed and then explode in a ball of heated metal. <"Bite on this ya bastard!"> He hollered in mando'a over the open broadcast to the now dead corsair.

Looking back over a Varus he could see his ship was badly damaged but it was nothing they could not take care of. It seemed he would be able to still engage the hyperdrive if necessary and was probably not up for another scuffle with any degenerates. But all in all they had come out on top. "Let's head back shall we?" He banked and turned slowly making sure that the two would stay close together for the return trip. They would need to contact Solone too and let her know that it was taken care of. Otherwise she would probably fall asleep in her cockpit or end up circling around the asteroids for the next few months and people would wonder where she had been.
