[fancybox2]Jeyne Merrik, M.D. is a cardiothoracic surgeon, Mandalorian sibling of Jakob Merrik. Dr. Merrik is the youngest of three children. She has a set of older brothers; twins, Jakob and Raynar Merrik. The oldest of the three is Dr. Merrik’s favorite person in the entire galaxy. Raynar, however, is vehemently detested by Jeyne, largely in part to his evil ways. Young Jeyne once saw Raynar taking advantage of a local flirt. Months later when the girl gave birth, Raynar denied having any contact with the girl. For this reason, Jeyne refuses to associate with Raynar, especially outside their homeworld.

Birthed under the sign of the Healer and the Warrior, merely seven years and four months after the older Merrik twin boys. The clan, especially Jacob, believed that “those born under the Sign of the Healer are considered the luckiest of the Clan, while the Warrior blesses those under his protection with a strong will.” While Jeyne never doubted her father's love, she grew up with suspicions concerning the circumstances surrounding her conception. Years into her adulthood, she found herself grappling with a medical evidence she discovered purely by chance.

Dr. Merrik was raised in the average Mandalorian home. Her father for some strange reason permitted young Jeyne to watch as he trained the older twin boys. She was only seven years old, and appeared rather frail. Determined to overcome the frailty of her stature, Jeyne decided to change her circumstance. Where she lacked physically, she made up through her intellect. The only physical advantage she had was her agility. Nonetheless, young Jeyne didn’t permit the age difference, nor the physical stature to deter her from keeping up with her older siblings. She kept up with the boys until their verd’goten. Typical of Jake, he made it up to Jeyne upon his successful trial of the verd'goten.

Determined to prove her worth as a Mandalorian, young Jeyne convinced her brothers to do the unthinkable. A few days before Jeyne’s 13th birthday, her siblings secretly organized a mini coming of age test for Jeyne. On the eve of the mock verd'goten, their father became privy of the plan, but turned a blind eye, thus Jeyne was able to prove herself. When the day came for Jeyne’s true trial of the Verd'goten, she completed her trial with ease, thus becoming the first female 13 year old in their community to accomplish such a feat. No longer was she viewed as frail young girl. The entire community, including her evil older twin brother looked at her in sheer amazement. Aethon Kast, her childhood best friend, couldn’t be any prouder of the young female warrior. Although a few years ahead of Jeyne, the two were the best of friends. A friendship that grew during many hours of watching Kast tinker with droids- turning them into a profitable trade, and ultimately building his very own Mandalorian armor entirely on his own at age 13! After Jeyne’s successful Verd'goten, she outwardly felt in every sense of the word, like a true Mandalorian. Inwardly, however, she sensed what can be best described as a fleeting feeling of infinitesimally small presence gnawing on her heart. There were days that she could sense pending danger (some would deem this as an awakening), particularly aimed at Jakob. Always the thinker, young Jeyne would brush off the fleeting feeling and attribute it to her short days, and long nights of studies.

Three months after Jeyne’s Verd'goten, Jakob was called to service. The timing couldn’t have been any worse, as young Jeyne was going through a personal crises; the falling out with Kast being chief among the reasons, and Jakob’s pending deployment to the war zone. “There is no greater honor than for a soldier to die in service to his Mand'alor.” Jakob reminded young Jeyne. What else could she do? The young woman had no choice than to send her brother off with her blessing. While Jakob was away, Jeyne continued her undergraduate studies in Physics and Biology at the University of Naboo. Unlike the typical young teenage girls her age who wasted time (as Jeyne would call it) on parties and boys, Jeyne elected to read and research. Her chosen field of study, Physics and Biology, was in part due to the fleeting fleeing that continued to gnaw on her. To Jeyne if there is such a thing as the Force, only science could prove it. In the absence of Jakob, Jeyne could feel him as though he was next to her. There were times when Jeyne could see and sense pending danger on the battlefield aimed at Jakob. In what could best be described as a fateful encounter, Jeyne met with an old Mandalorian Sage. The only fact Jeyne knew about the woman, besides her wise counsel, is that she is a widower of a former redeemed Sith Lord. The older woman confirmed Jeyne’s special calling. The female Mandalorian, however, shrugged and dismissed the idea entirely, and continued to pour every ounce of energy into her studies.

The fleeting feeling of the she would later find to be the Force never left the young woman; it only grew. Stronger. The more effort she made to avoid the feeling, the more it overshadowed her entire being. During a routine surgical practice, Jeyne she saw Jakob’s dead body being carried away from the battlefield. Unlike the other times, the Mandalorian didn’t harbor the fleeting feeling. Jake was warned and thankfully, avoided dangerous battle grounds, and didn’t die. Upon Jakob’s return from war, the pair had a long talk. “The Sage is right, nair vohd.” Jakob uttered in a manner of fact tone. “By all accounts you are Force sensitive, nair vohd.” Jeyne wanted to dismiss her brother’s words, but couldn’t. She simply attributed his nonsensical convictions to the war. “Experiencing new culture can affect who you are.” The young woman told her brother in an equally matter of fact tone.

As though nothing else could go wrong, one day during an intense study week, Jeyne got the call to return to Mandalore. Her mother had been taken ill, and things didn’t look well. Within days of returning to Mandalore, the Merrik clan lost both of their buirs. Jeyne was only 15 years. Naturally, Jakob became the default buir guiding and teaching Jayne as best as he knew how. His war zone experience would eventually cause him to lose his wife. Roles were eventually switched and Jeyne became the primary caretaker of Jakob. Making him keep his medical appointments and helping him with everyday chores. One year later, when Jeyne was certain Jakob would be able to stand on his own, she returned to her studies.

Intent upon shrugging off the fleeting fleeing of the
Force beckoning her, Jeyne continued to immerse herself in her medical training. Due in part to her Mandalorian background, and introvert personality, Jeyne pretty much kept to herself. The only person she made an effort to associate with was her mentor. She quickly made up for the year off from her studies. She transferred from the University of Naboo to Chandrila University. It was there that she ran into a young Noble from Alderaan; Aldrus Verum. With her mentor’s guidance and sheer will, Jeyne graduated top of her class. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree in physics and biology, she went on to complete her studies at the ivy league university- University of Coruscant. She completed her medical school training and residency in four years and was conferred head Chief Physician at the much coveted University of Coruscant M.D. Anderson Research Institute.

Unbeknownst to the Mandalorian, everything she’d worked hard to attain at her job would be tested. One of her medical interns framed Dr. Merrick, and thus she was charged with murder, stripped of her medical degree and dismissed from the University of Coruscant M.D. Anderson Research Institute. “Let the Sage help you, nair vohd.” Jake begged her sister during his first visit to her in jail. “It’s not use. I have every trust in my lawyers and the court of law.” Jeyne replied. However a year later, Dr. Merrik still found herself locked behind bars. Desperate as ever, the Mandalorian caved in and called upon the old Sage. “You can’t hide from your calling.” The old woman told Jeyne “Science makes sense to me. As far as I know if it can’t be seen, or tested, it’s not-” Jeyne didn’t realize, but her words cut short. She was caught up in a vision. In it she saw herself on the battlefield alongside her siblings only this time, Raynar was fighting against Jeyne and Jakob. In the vision Raynar was not in his traditional Mandalorian armor, nor was he prepared for battle. The old fool was adorned in a Jedi robe, and a single blade. Not much to fight with.

What felt like eternity was in reality seconds. “Sorry.” Was all Dr. Merrik could utter upon falling back to the present time. The old Sage’s cup was now full with Jeyne’s disparaging comments. “Jeyne Merrik, to despair is to turn your back on the Force. You think, the Force can’t be scientifically quantified in the real Galaxy. My question to you is what is reality?” With that the old hag left the building. The meeting with the old Sage catapulted several incidents which ultimately led to Jeyne’s acquittal, reinstatement and promotion at the University of Coruscant M.D. Anderson Research Institute. True to herself, Dr. Jeyne Merrik rejected the latter, and moved to Outer Rim Territories where she established her first medical practice; Lorrd City Private Practice.

Amidst her growing professional career, Jeyne got involved with Physician Without Borders; an organization established by physicians and doctors alike to assist the suffering in the Galaxy amidst the wake of major disasters. Through her tireless work with PWB, Jeyne was made the face of the organization. A small task, in her mind, but yet one that catapulted her face (due to the numerous HoloNet appearances) across the Galaxy. During one of her missions with PWB, Dr. Merrik ran into a Mandalorian Protector. This Protector turned out to be her long lost childhood friend, Aethon Kast, from Mandalore. The pair soon renewed their friendship, picking up where they left off and quickly became inseparable. Jeyne joined Ha’Rangir’s Chosen, and openly supported, openly venting ther frustrations with the divisive feuding clans. Under Merrik’s convictions, Kast considered supporting the Ral, but was wary of Ral's intentions. Nevertheless Aethon supported Jeyne in her attempts to gather allies for the would-be Mandalore. With Aethon’s encouragement, the inner long buried warrior within Jeyne arose. Jeyne returned to Mandalore to restore the drift between her clan, and the Vencu clan. For her efforts in ending months long inter clan feud, Jeyne was selected as the new Alor of clan Merrik. On the eve of her inauguration ceremony, Kast proposed. ”I know I don’t really have anything on me...wait, hold that thought.” Jeyne fondly recalls Aethon’s words. The vivid imagery of Aethon presenting his helmet to Jeyne, eternally buried in Jeyne’s mind. ”Jeyne Merrik, would you do me the eternal honor of being my one and only? Will you marry me?” . The young Doctor turned Alor answered in the affirmative, happy beyond words not knowing that everything she knew will change. The day after her inauguration ceremony, the Vencu clan once again attacked, nearly wiping out her clan, and landing Jeyne in the emergency ward. Amidst the attack, and restoration, Aethon disappeared never to be heard from again. The clan assumed Kast had perished during the attack, but Merrik was convinced otherwise. Soon after her health was restored, she summoned the best private detectives to find her one and only. Days turned into weeks, then months; not a trace of Aethon Kast could be found. Hopeless, and emotionally broken, Jeyne resigned from society and went into seclusion. Not even Jakob could convince Jeyne to return to her people.

Months later, with no luck or will to live among her own people, Jeyne Merrik shedded her warrior role to become the ultimate medical professional for she feared the pain of Kast’s absence would ruin her. Physicians Without Borders took on a permanent role on her professional calendar. Nevertheless, the thought of running into Aethon lurked behind her mind with each PWB assignment. Each journey into a remote part of the Galaxy; from Nubia, to Thalassia and all corners of the Galaxy began with an infinitesimally small hope of running into Kast, and ended with a sad reminder of absence. Even at the height of her professional success, the cloud of Kast’s absence hovered over Jeyne. Merrik immersed herself in growing her medical practice on Lorrd City, expanding into a second practice on Mandalore, and finally a third one on Alderaan. Her traveling with PWB never did lead her to Aethon Kast, as she’d surmised, but it lead her to
Finn Simmons, a rogue Force user, and Nova Elgrin- a young girl with a mind of her own. One would never place Jeyne and Finn in the same room, but as fate would have it, the two slowly became fellow travelers, and surprisingly good friends. Finn for a time helped Jeyne awaken to the call of the Force; ultimately teaching her the ways of the Force. Simmons also bestowed upon Jeyne his family heirloom, a priceless kyber crystal, and assisted Jeyne with building her very first tool of the trade; a single bladed lightsaber.

Contrary to the HoloNet, and tabloid perception of Dr. Merrik, the cloud of her past overshadowed the glitz and glamour that came with her thriving professional career. The success of her three private practices, tireless pursuit of peace within the Galaxy, endless hours of fundraising and volunteer trips with Physicians Without Borders, left her missing the very core and meaning of life. The cloud of Kast’s absence, however, slowly began to disappear months after Dr. Merrik ran into Aldrus Verum at a private fundraising event for PWB. The Alderaan Noble years prior (during their time at Chandrila University) failed to win Jeyne’s heart. At the time Jeyne found Verum to be narcissistic, spoiled, arrogant brat. She went as far as verbalizing said sentiments to Aldrus, for which he called her a proud, narrow minded, backwards female. Neither Aldrus nor Jeyne renewed the bad sentiments during the run in at the fundraiser event. Quite to the contrary. In lieu of anger, Verum begun to soon woo Jeyne in orchestrated family perfection. Elaborate parties were held in Jeyne’s honor at the large Verum estate. It never rained on a Verum party, the Verum’s wouldn’t have stood for it.

Together the noble and the former warrior began to wreak havoc on the Galactic terrorist’s plans. Aldrus and Jeyne intercepted attacks on Mandalore, helped capture culprits behind Sundari’s leading financial institute, and ceased the spread of a bioengineered virus meant to obliterate an entire village on Concordia. Months leading to the intercepted attacks on Mandalore, rumors of series of attack from two Mandalorian terrorist groups had the Jedi Order and the Republic on the fringe. Aldrus’ involvement with the Jedi army at the time, and Jeyne’s political connections on Mandalore proved to be useful. As though as planned the work Verum’s time with Jeyne in helping her people on Mandalore brought the pair together in more ways than one. Tragedy eventually hit the Verum estate. Aldrus’ father unexpectedly fell ill and died. Shortly after the Verum patriarch's passing, Aldrus returned home, taking the helm of the Verum estate, and eventually becoming the Senator of Alderaan. Through it all, Jeyne remained his constant supporter- ultimately moving her to the Verum estate. For Jeyne and Aldrus’ interception of the bioengineered virus on Concordia, Jeyne became a target of the terrorist network behind the attack. The terrorist group eventually managed to fatally gun down Merrik during a public lecture at University of Alderaan, leaving the female Mandalorian Warrior once again at the doors of death.

My sincere gratitude to @Aberforth for the art, and patiently developing the art without my guidance. @Nova Elgrin for the face portrait.
@Loco, for combing through my draft for accuracy and consistency. @ZayPat for actually placing the text into a coherent, aesthetically pleasing format ( because heaven knows I'll ruin Bee's codes).

Depends. I can be rather a slow RPer and I don't want to disappoint.
What do you have in mind?

i'm doing a write up profile for the planet and i'm debating on putting up clans/houses since it's in mandalorian space. i'm just wondering if you want to have a Clan Merrik. if you want to rp together there's also rp ideas for one of my characters here though it needs some more ideas added to it.

This woman is 6'1 and could probably break Leira's spine by touching her.
