“I’ll never understand why you dyed your hair,” Enda said. “And you’re so tanned now too.” Param finished weaving her brunette dyed hair into a braided crown before turning a silver gaze to the echani woman. It was not secret what Param had gone through; showing up to Eshan eyes full of tears, body full of scars, and heart jettisoned into the void of space, it was one of the first things the echani village that had taken her in had figured out. Enda was a woman about the same age as Param that had taken her in without a second thought. Before Param’s eyes would have shown hurt, suffering, anger and hatred, undulating between the golden eyes of the darkside and the silver eyes of the echani. Now they just held the stoic, healed ways of an echani girl once again with her people.
“Are you trying to say brown isn’t my color?” Param asked, the corner of her makeup-less lips curling upwards. She turned back to the mirror, meeting her own eyes. It was finally over- at least for now. Not that the Sith would come looking for her. They had taken everything from her, and proven their point. Now she was much better off, and actually found herself smiling far more than she ever had being a Sith. A fast string of beeps and whirs came from her left, pulling the other corner of her lips into a warm smile. “Thanks, Vee. I kind of like being a brunette now too.”
“And what about the silver ends?” Enda asked, raising a brow. Param had dyed her hair, but she couldn’t quite dye it all the way. Her echani coloring bled through to the bottom half of her hair. Every time she dyed her hair fully brunette, the ends seemed to lose the coloring in the following days first. Param had just come to terms with it. She shook her head, turning to a tan, hooded poncho draped over the end of the bed and throwing it on. It went with her brown trousers and boots, a black, thermal long-sleeve topping it off.
“It’s safer this way,” Param said, giving Vee the warm smile he had earned by complimenting her new hair and tan. The little red and silver BD-unit hopped up onto her shoulder as she turned back to Enda. “How do I look?” Enda gave Param a knowing smile.
“Like you’re about to meet the boy you can’t stop talking about,” she said. Param suppressed her giggle. Even if she was meeting Kai at the starport, she strapped a light blaster pistol to her right thigh, sheathed a karambit vibro-blade at the small of her back, and tucked both her and her former Sith Master’s lightsabers along her belt line so they’d be hidden by the poncho. There was no use hiding them from Enda though; it was the first thing the woman had seen when Param had come here after dumping her old transponder on Nar Shaddaa. There was nothing tracing her back to the Sith aside from those lightsabers; and nothing the Sith could use to track her.
Param gave Enda a brief hug, and started making her way to the starport by foot. She had sent a message to Kai, thankful it hadn’t come to Vee needing to deliver it himself. Hopefully, he was going to show, but he was a terrible texter. Half the time he responded in memes. It had been entirely too long since they last saw each other, and Param could feel the anticipation and anxiety gripping at her heart. Every time she blinked she’d see that fanged grin and tail excitedly moving back and forth; every night she’d dream of… well, no need to get into that now.
When Param arrived at the starport, she waited in the large lobby where all the individual bays lead into. The snowing, winter air kept her moving, hands tucked deep into her pockets under her poncho. She didn’t dare put the hood up as she didn’t want to block any portion of her vision to catch if he arrived or not. Her ears burned and reddened with the cold. Vee kept his circuits and joints warmed and primed by prodding each foot like a waiting dance on her left shoulder.
