Evelyn grew up on the streets of Corellia for most of her youth, her mother being a spice addict and her dad barely scraping by when it came to income. Her father would often have her leave the apartment whenever her mom would get too bad.. which was often enough that she socialized more with homeless kids than her own parents.
Her parents were later killed as a part of gang violence on the planet. Apparently her father was in deep with gambling as a way of having a chance to make more money and better provide for the family, and when he wasn't able to pay back a loan things went south. The gang members weren't aware of Evelyn, and it was lucky they weren't because she wasn't home when three men came shooting up the apartment with a flurry of laser fire. Their bodies were taken and disposed of to not leave any loose ends.
When she came home to blaster marks and missing parents, she was shaken. What happened? She was only 12 when it happened. Not knowing what to do, she ran to the homeless kids she would grow to become friends with and from that point she lived with them. She became one of them.
She spent a few years on the streets, making connections and contacts all over Corellia. Living on her own would be hard, luckily though she wouldn't have to do that. She met up with a few other homeless kids and stole, lied, or scavenged to get by. It was almost a gang without being a gang. Sure they were a group of street kids made up of muggers, thieves and the like but they didn't aim for control or influence. They just made a living doing what they knew.
While on the run from a few members of the local police, she was caught robbing a store as knifepoint at age 17. She would have been taken to jail, but the police chief thought it better to use her to get to her friends by working undercover for him. In the end her friends confessed and were charged for committing petty crimes as well as assault and armed robbery. Not Evelyn however. She was given the option of joining the planet's law enforcement as an undercover cop or being charged and sent to a juvenile detention facility. Not being stupid, she chose the first option.
At a local cantina she ended up making somewhat of a mistake. She was sent in to gain the trust of the owner of the the establishment, but instead ended up with one of the bouncers in her apartment for a one night stand. It was an impulsive decision, one she was made to regret a few days later. Still being tasked to gain the trust of the cantina owner and become a bartender for them, she had to visit there often. The owner was suspected of dealing spice, death sticks, and several other addictive drugs to the citizens of Nar Shaddaa while using the bar as a front.
As to why Evelyn would regret her earlier encounter with one of the employees, she became pregnant with his kid. Only being 18 and not knowing what to do about the situation, she freaked. It was reckless but she was too young and felt like being a mother was too much sudden stress. She would terminate the pregnancy almost immediately after discovering it. She continued as an informant, being there for about a year, while avoiding the bouncer she had a.. "heated" encounter with for her entire time there while never telling him about the kid.
Motivated by the death of her parents, at least subconsciously, she wanted to become an actual police officer on Corellia. Finally be able to do some good. The change in job description came from her straight out refusing undercover work. She screwed up once and she didn't trust herself not to screw up again. She liked being a cop even if it was forced on her at first and she wanted to continue that line of work. She wasn't going to let one mess up dictate her entire career's future.
She spent 6 months in Corellia's police academy learning the ropes when it came to being a cop. She started out as just an apprentice for a veteran before officially taking their place following their retirement. She was a homicide detective for about 9 years give or take. She had several partners that came and went, some retiring or some being shot on the job. The pure amount of shit she was exposed to on the job was intense. Bodies burnt to a crisp, victims of gang violence, political candidates resorting to killing their opposition, and much much more. The galaxy sucked, hard, and she was that first hand. Those 9 years changed her, but not necessarily for the best. All the different ways people could die, all the different motivations murderers had, it was hard to have empathy towards the victims. She became desensitized whenever a new body was found. She wanted to find out who killed them and bring them to justice sure, but she wasn't really phased when it came to seeing mangled corpses. She didn't know if that was a good or bad thing.
She discovered his force sensitivity late, like age 25 late. It was completely on accident as well, a cup of coffee falling and her hand reaching out to catch it before there was broken glass and a hot brown liquid staining the floor. The mug was suspended in midair for a few seconds before she grabbed it with the other hand and placed it back on the counter. She didn't know what to make it it at first, and just kept it to herself while continuing to be a cop. It was a one time party trick that was irrelevant to her job so she didn't much care for it.
Hearing about the force being able to manipulate one's mind by a few thugs that go their asses handed to them by a jedi when they tried to mug them, she decided to look into that. Maybe learn to use it to help with investigations, force the truth out of suspects. She ended up getting into contact with the jedi that faced the two criminals, except they weren't exactly a jedi. They were some rogue jedi exiled by the order for one reason or another. Evelyn didn't much care for the details. She just wanted to learn to use the force to get the truth out of people.
Her goal was achieved, in time. She learned how to manipulate the mind of another person but only after a several months of training and practice. Not long after the force became something she would use often. Whenever a suspect would seem to lie or not cooperate, she would simply wave a hand and get what she wanted. It was a convenience she took advantage of whenever needed, and her arrest rate accumulated quickly as she was able to get the truth faster than she would have going through lawyers and the whole legal process.
About that last bit, she would actually get backlash when the police chief found out what she was doing. After a warning to not force information out of suspects through whatever mystical powers she had, she became more secretive with her useage of the ability. She turned hand waving into a small gesture that would have the same effect and posed her demands as questions for the person being interrogated to answer.
She self taught the ability of force suggestion to a greater degree for 2 years, going off of what she was taught by the jedi she met with. She became almost reliant on it when needing information quickly, more reckless in its use. She would still use it more secretively in the interrogation room, but the frequency of its usage increased gradually as time went on.
When the sith empire took Coruscant she fled from the core worlds, actually coming to like the now fallen republic and generally having disdain towards an empire that rules through fear with some cyborg at the head of everything. Imperial dictatorships weren't really her cup of tea. She went over to the Mandalorians, their dominion raising with the fall of the republic. She would be adopted into House Skirata under Clan Kelborn and took their clan name as her own.
With her transition from civilian to Mandalorian, it was a bit awkward at first. She had always heard of the warrior culture and the battle hardened citizens but never lived it until she was 27, almost 28, fleeing from the sith empire. It was unique, even beautiful. In the 5 years she spent becoming a mandalorian, she found a home, a family. A proper family that wasn't homeless kids or the poor excuse she had for parents growing up. It felt great, like she found a new side of herself.
While serving as a mandalorian she would still take the role of a homicide detective, rather liking that job and continuing to pursue it within Mandalorian space. She came to fancy the planet of Concord Dawn specifically, with it not only being the planet her Mandalorian house originated but also being a breathtaking planet with actual nature, plant life, animals. Things she wasn't very accustomed to seeing often in Coronet City. Her employment as a cop would come from Concord Dawn, where she would live and be on constantly when not called off-world for Mandalorian related business.

Evelyn is rather casual and up front about things, though she does have her secrets, as a cop and Mandalorian she's hardly formal. She isn't shy to look at things from a morally ambiguous view, and will do whatever it takes to solve the cases given to her. She loves acting as a cop, the authority, the dishing out justice. She acts majorly independant, though doesn't mind solving cases with a partner every once in awhile, due to her general disinterest in playing nice with others on a regular basis. She'll be social when she wants to be, and isolate herself when she wants to be alone. She has a strong sense of independance, and can rarely be held down for too long. When it comes to combat, she'll do whatever is necessary and doesn't hesitate when it comes to violence.
She greatly enjoys finding out things about other people, have it be trivial knowledge or personal secrets that she would take to her grave. She's tough and independent, but also caring and protective of those who she comes to know as friends. She'd go out of her way to spend time with friends when not on the job, and keeps her friend groups as small as possible as to be able to give as much attention to the friends she has as they'd need. She's loyal to friends, and cares about relationships between people a great deal.
When Evelyn lets her guard down, she can be bubbly, energetic and loving. This side of her is really only seen by other members of House Skirata and those who she trusts completely. She cares for the Mandalorian Dominion, and more specifically House Skirata a great deal for taking her in and giving her the family she craved so much growing up on Nar Shaddaa.
