Dual-end Grapple Launcher

Affiliation: N/A

Ownership: N/A

Intent: In addition to providing characters with a method of rapid vertical (or horizontal) navigation without the use of loud and bulky jetpacks or jetboots, the DGL’s second grapple allows for PCs to create a secure line from point A to point B.

Model/Name: Dual-end Grapple Launcher

Type: Mechanical grapple launcher.

Size: 6 inches long and 2 inches thick, with a 3-inch circular bulge at its center that houses the cord reels. A clasp hardpoint is also in the center that can attach to belts or wherever else you want to secure it. Each grapple extends up to 50 feet, for a total of 100 feet when fully extended.

Composition: Durasteel, Tritanium

Description: The DGL is unique from a typical grapple launcher in that it sports an additional launcher pointing in the opposite direction. The tip on each end is composed primarily of a strong magnet, with three hooked prongs extending from where the magnet connects to the cable for use outside metal-heavy environments. This tip can be swapped out for a pure hook or magnet instead of the hybrid tip, if the user wishes. It utilizes a pressurized launch mechanism, capable of launching the tip at speeds upwards of 200m/s.

On each side of the DGL is a trigger that one can press to launch the grapple. Pressing it again afterwards will stop the cord from reeling out, and holding it in again rapidly reels it back in. A lock mechanism is also available to hold the trigger down and reel in the cord automatically without having to manually hold it down. When the trigger is not being pressed, the system automatically secures the cord in place to prevent it from sliding. Another button is also available to release this lock, allowing the user to let out more slack.
