Only thing I'm not liking is the fact the US-Pakistan relationship is really strained at the moment, but I definitely agree with the US thought-process; the United States cannot trust Pakistan with this kind of intelligence.

Trusting Pakistan is why Bin Laden always got away during the Clinton administration. Half of that government is basically aligned with the Taliban and/or Al Qaeda.

I'm well aware. It just sucks that that relationship is even more strained than usual, but there's absolutely no way we could trust Pakistan with this information.

The relationship ought to be strained. In fact, we ought to have no relationship at all. We should just get all of their nukes while we still have influence and that country and let India do the rest.

Other sources say the Navy Seals were not meant to capture him in some form of fort, Killed his men he got killed. The Operation was not a Capture but a Kill operation. Which is not right Bloody USA Government Hypocrite analysis.

It was a targeted killing, afaik. There were never any orders to capture him alive. I'm not 100% on that but that's what I've gleaned from it.

According to the statement they put out last night, the mission was to kill, not capture him. Like you said, I'm not 100% sure the reporting on that is accurate, but that's what they've been reporting.

It also said they never found his body, and the other sources said they dropped him in the sea.As proper burlier ground, Bloody hell he has like 22 wives and 54 children he has a Small army of his own kind of blood.

What the liberals don't understand is that this is a war. During WW2, it was normal for the allies to cheer the defeat of their enemies, so there's nothing wrong with celebrating the death of Osama.

It was also normal for allies in WW2 to round up whole populations and send them to internment camps as they were suspected of aiding the enemy.

The relationship ought to be strained. In fact, we ought to have no relationship at all. We should just get all of their nukes while we still have influence and that country and let India do the rest.

While Pakistan may not really have a reason to exist considering the prospering muslim community in India, I can't see that going very well. Sure, India would probably win but it seems like it'd be a real disaster in a lot of ways.

I don't know where you get the report that they never found his body. Sounds like conspiracy theory to me.

The found his body and had it DNA tested. Afterwards, they buried him at sea. The president is debating on whether or not to release the photographs they have proving they had his body because he doesn't want any cynicism like that, but is currently withholding them because they are gruesome (what with the nasty bullet wound to his head and all).

During many periods of History it was fine to rape and pillage, and yet if you do that it is seen as wrong. It was considered fine to enslave other human beings labour and generally treat them as objects. It was once considered fine to burn and drown people suspected of being Witches. Why should what considered normal previously be considered normal now?

So you're saying its uncivilized or "not modern" to celebrate the death of an enemy?

I'm sorry, but I think you're missing the point here. His death was long over due. If we just let him go and instead decided we were just going to preach peace to him and his other terrorist buddies, they'd have blown most of the western world to smitherines by now. Do you think he cares about peace? Do you think he cared about the thousands upon thousands of people he was responsible for killing? No. He didn't care. He loved it. He even went as far as to say that he wanted every last American, man, woman, or child, dead. I do not feel sorry for his passing, nor do I feel bad for celebrating his death. He brought this on himself.

besides, like bac already mentioned, its not like he was going to go to prison willingly like Saddam. He was going to fight to the death, and he did so.

I don't think his point was that we shouldn't try to kill him, it's that we shouldn't dance on his grave.

Please correct me if I am wrong; but up until today I was under the assumption that Bin Laden was (either dead, or) no longer involved in day to day operations of Al Qaeda. Is this assumption false?

That is, indeed, false. He was Al Qaeda's leader until his death.

No, you're correct. al-Qaeda's hierarchy has been rather thoroughly ruined since 2001; however, many cells operate independently and are still very effective.

This is a moral victory, and a much needed 'end'.

You're correct, I was wrong. This was more of a moral victory than anything. It was certainly a great symbol.

The news immediately got the attention of the Taliban and other militants that supported Al Qaeda, so I'd say it counts for something.

Yes, he was the leader but not really running that much. A lot of Al Qaeda wasn't really under his control but more of a franchise, taking the name but basically just a local sort of group.

Leave it to America to out do a royal wedding...

It doesn't take much for something else to rule out world news. Let us not forget that the wars in the Middle East were a hot topic until Charlie Sheen had his fiasco. Everything is a big deal unless we have something else to talk about.
Take N1H1. It was such a big deal. You're gonna die! You're gonna die! You're gonna die! OMG, Michael Jackson died! Michael Jackson! Michael Jackson! Michael Jackson's doctor! Michael Jackson! Michael Jackson's kids! You're gonna die! You're gonna die! Oh, some celebrity went into rehab, again! Boo-hoo for the celebrity! Oh, such a sad story for the celebrity! You're gonna die! You're gonna die!
See? It doesn't matter what it is as long as its big and threatening.
