Thread Prefix: cannon (with some bits of legends to fill in gaps)
Name: Concord dawn

Coordinates: O-7

Hyperlane:
the planet is extremely close to mandalore, so I'm going to assume it shares mandalore's.

Climate:
it's never really said, though in legends it's said Concord dawn was the agricultural center of mandalorian space, so I'm going to safely assume it's varied, with most of the planet being a temperate savanna, which is used for farming, with forests and jungles the closer one gets to the southern hemisphere.

Terrain:
Deserts, Forests, Jungles, with rocky steppes and mountains becoming common the closer one gets to the far north of the planet.

Rotation:
again, it's something never really touched upon, but most of the southern hemisphere has been wiped out. So I'm going to assume it barely rotates that well, but for the time standard, im going to say a day and night cycle is 20 earth hours, with a concordian year the equivalent to 10 earth months.

Inhabitants:
mandalorians.

animals:
whatever they've imported over the years, at the time of writing this I couldn't find any native animals, but will edit if I find any!

Resources:
it never really says, I'm going to go with the legends version for things that need filling in just for common sense, as you've seen me do in other sections.

farmland, and minerals and materials commonly found in "mandalorian space", but most important is the farmland, as it is one of the few fertile planets left in mandalorian space.

Government:
Individual clans rule specific territories of the planet, each vying to claim the highest honors and be the ones to unite the rest and crown a new manda'lore, but they often squabble about how, this often results in long lasting feuds. You could say the "concord dawn protectors", an elite cadre of super commandos and alors, dedicated to maintaining order, are the government, as they enforce the super commando codex upon the clans, yet mandalorian justice, like the mandalorian people, is swift and brutal, as a people who do not care for material wealth, "legal" disputes are usually settled in ritual combat, which can be between two individuals or entire clans, usually controlled by the protectors to insure fighting doesn't spill out to areas not involved in the conflict.

The protectors keep the mandalorian definition of order, as they have since their system was settled, with the leader of the protectors democratically being elected by the mandalorians of concord dawn upon the death of their predecessor, to even be considered for the role is a testament to that mandalorian, a high honor, the leader of the protectors is supposed to be a mandalorian through and through, wise, fair, and most importantly, honorable.

The "Warden", as they are called, is usually the deciding factor of whether or not concord dawn supports an applicant to mand'alor or recognises them, they are regarded with much respect, and in times of crisis have the privilege of rallying the fierce clans of concord dawn to his or her banner.

Culture and way of life:
Concord dawn is considered both the agricultural center of mandalorian space, and a training center, as the infamous mandalorian super commandos call this place home, the famous quote "On Concord dawn, cheating is a capital offense." sums up how things are run there.
the mandalorians on concord dawn prize, duty, honor, and honesty, rather than simply combat strength, giving concordian mandalorians a well earned reputation for being loyal, steadfast, and honest, indomitable in spirit.

At first glance, one unfamiliar with concordians would find them to be no different from a native mandalorian, yet their cultures couldn't be more different, if one was to look closely, one would be able to see the differences between a mandalorian from concord dawn, and a mandalorian from mandalore itself, such as following a different "honor code." than native mandalorians, opting to follow the supercommando codex of Jaster Mereel, rather than the ancient ways, and thus, have historically never bowed to status symbols such as the legendary darksaber and the mask of mandalore, with many would be leaders meeting the end of their attempt short of the fiercely independent concordians.

But it would be considered Unwise to assume this makes the concordians weaklings like the new mandalorians, despite farming being the primary function of concord dawn, it also has had a history of training the mandalorian military elite, also known as the mandalorian super commandos, and that culture is ingrained on the planet as well as its people, with a expectation that concordian mando'ade are to be mandokar. Every concordian is expected to be a warrior to some degree, even the farmers and providers are expected to a part of the militia should the planet come under assault.

Concordians take great pride in their home planet, and will fight tooth and nail to defend it, making what seems to be a easy target to raid and pillage into a fortress of skill and willpower stronger than beskar. many concordians would rather face death before the dishonor of allowing their beloved world to fall into enemy hands, and if one wishes to conquer concord dawn, one should expect to have to face constant afghanistanization, where every being capable of fighting off the invasion force rallying at a moments notice, one should expect to have to slaughter every fighting man and woman, and then devastate the land, that is, before the concordians do to prevent it from falling into enemy hands, with times where clans that had been feuding for decades fighting as one as if they were brothers and sister for centuries, all in the name of their homes defence.
To win, one must face an enemy that would rather die than bend the knee, with morale that is almost unbreakable, and that's just the basic militia.

Concord dawn hosts the second largest defence fleet that the mandalorians can muster. If it's one thing all the ever bickering clans and houses of concord dawn can agree on, is that their home comes before any and all clan rivalry. Simply, concord dawn belongs to the concordians, and they all would rather see their system become little more than ash and dust, and die, than surrender her.

This comradery rarely extends to non-mandalorians, with concordians being very protective of their homeland, a visitor should not expect a warm welcome, if they are even welcome at all, reactions can vary wildly between each clan or house's territory, ranging from friendly curiosity, to hostile malice.

Technology and cities:
The planet was primarily an agricultural world, backwards in development, though the larger clans have towns and cities in their territory with proper technology, yet these "cities" are few and far between, and the small nomadic towns are able to packed up and easily torn down or abandoned should the locals desire, with most of the population being nomadic or farmers in nature, most of their permanent settlements are for the training of super commandos, or as said before, farming.

The closest thing concord dawn has to capitals would be "The Exchange", a collection of tall buildings far in the rocky north that serves as essentially a giant farmers market mixed in with a militaristic recruiting center, full of artisans applying their trades for the rest of concordian society, and the solemn city of insomnia positioned on a chunk bridged to the planet in the southern hemisphere, insomnia is considered the main base of concord dawns protectors, serving as both a giant prison in its lower levels and home for them and their allies in the upper levels.

Both The exchange and Insomnia are considered to be neutral territory for the feuding clans, with clan warfare all but forbidden

Satellites:
At least 3 moons, one is a much smaller moon named saoirse, which was formerly the stronghold and business operations center of the twins. There are several other "moons" that orbit concord dawn, each holding the potential to house mandalorians, as well as thousands of large asteroids that used to be the planets southern hemisphere.

History:
Concord Dawn, a planet with three moons located in the Concord Dawn system within the Mandalore sector of the Outer Rim Territories, was famous for its elite Mandalorian warriors, and during one of its many wars, much of the planet's southern hemisphere was wiped out, turning into much smaller asteroid chunks. over the course of this timeline, concord dawn and its moons have managed to remain a safe haven for the more traditionalist clans of mandalore, with the "proper" way of mandalorian life being well preserved there as if it was in amber, untouched, unsoiled, unconquered, concord dawn is considered the second homeworld of the mandalorian people, with it being almost as treasured as the sacred homeworld of mandalore itself. Here, mandalorian culture and religion flourished, safeguarded against those who would wish to harm it, with many followers of the neo crusader ideals calling this planet home alongside the more modern mandalorians.

Elaborating further on the fueding clans, the mandalorians of Concord dawn, well, those that follow the time honored traditions of the clans, live in a meritocratic society that is constantly in competition for power and influence with the rest, with protector sanctioned warfare is a common and expected occurrence, the protectors more often than not are required to stay out of clan warfare unless personal honor is on the line, and insure that the warfare does not spill out into neutral farming crops.

Current factions in power:

Following most of tepmuarts destruction due to the sith led house varsuuths rise and fall, candorus, tepmuarts sister clan, and by extension, the twins themselves have fractured into several splinter groups, and stand on the brink of a brutal civil war, with the protectors struggling to contain the standoff.

Sith loyalists and concordian independents:
varsuuths remnants: licking their wounds from the invasion of Thule, they have resorted to conducting brutal guerrilla warfare to restore their twisted ranks, they wish to establish a concrete feudal government loyal to the sith order.

Candorus: who wish to make Concord dawn completely independent from mandalorian space.

Anti sith and law enforcement:
the tepmuart foundlings: though few in number they wish to keep concordian soil free from sith corruption, putting them as odds with varsuuth in a brutal game of touch me touch you.

And then the protectors: who just want to maintain the status quo of Concord dawn being considered part of mandalorian space, putting them at odds with candorus.

neutral parties include:

the death watch and its affiliates
Modern neo crusaders
Unaffiliated sith loyalists

Intent:
I have been noticing a spike in mandalorian activity, and got inspired to rewrite my old submission, as many have said, the muse had spoken!
concord dawn and its system is considered an extremely important place in mandalorian lore, with it being their second capital and homeworld after the desolation of mandalore. i'm honestly surprised no one has done it yet, so I figured I would attempt (again) to submit a write up for those mandalorian role players who want a place to call home, this write up is going to be my little passion project, a thanks in some way for yall handling my lack of brain cells and making even a less skilled roleplayer like me feel welcome, I also felt like I would give a honest to god try at a planet writeup, so cheers, I hope I did this properly!

So after viewing the write-up I do have some notes to leave

  • There should be as minimal amount of commentary in the write-up as possible. If infomation is absent in canons and there is nothing for it for legends in a specific area (rotation for example), decide on something reasonable instead of 'it wasn't said, so maybe this, maybe that' be decisive. There are many other approved canon worlds you can look at and see how they do them, in the absence of canon/legends infomation
  • So, I can tell that large portions of this write-up have been C+Ped from wookiepedia. The other focuses is these fanon clans that relate to your characters primarily but that don't have write-ups on them (that i can see), little about others. Concord Dawn has been used a lot in site canon, and quite a bit of canon. Why are these little known clans presented as 'in power'? Where are the more stablished clans?
    • With these two factors, i don't think content on here justifies approving this write-up.

some minor things
  • Apparently according to pedia, the canon Protectors went extinct. Maybe they were revived somehow, but that isn't elaborated on.
  • I get you are going for a feudal-era Japan theme for CD, but I am not in favor of imposing it on the planet, it doesn't fit with how CD was presented and played as. Maybe there are some certain places on there that can of that theme, but not the whole planet. It would be like taking Dromund Kaas as we know it and suddenly imposing a Victorian England theme on it.

With all these points taking into account, we'd have to go back to the drawing board with this. Archived.
