Hey guys, I've seen some confusion from a few people as to when the Sith returned and took over the Empire in relation to where we are currently in the timeline. The current year is 1,011 ABY. The Sith took over the Empire in 1,002 ABY, and the Jedi and Alliance learned about it around that same time.

So essentially, the Sith have ruled the empire for nine (9) years. Since then, the galaxy has been in a state of perpetual cold war while the Alliance and the Empire build up their forces in order to launch the coming war, as both sides had significantly reduced their numbers during the eight and a half centuries of peace. Nine years would've been far too long in any other situation, but the galaxy was not ready to be in a state of war and everyone knew it.

I hope that clears up any confusion. If you have any other questions in regards the timeline, please be sure to read the timeline history and also post any questions you have here.

I'm bumping this, as it's important to stress that people really need to read the timeline history. I was just asked what year the RP is currently set in, when the final part of the history says:

No government spoke the words, but, as of 1,011 ABY, war was all but inevitable...

I may need to put together a quick FAQ guide about the current conditions of the timeline.

Probably that people forgot to check that particular date.

Maybe we should have some sort of year counter on the site somewhere (next to the new york times button maybe?) that says the year and whenever an admins think a year have passed they update it.

^ Good Idea! I've seen something like that on other sites.

It's really kind of not needed. Usually there is an announcement for when a year has passed, if I'm right that is.
