So, having been one of the folks voicing some concerns over the new TL, I had some general questions anyone or mods can answer. Mostly looking to stoke discussion and perceptions of how things went down in tRoS and where it leaves canon and how it could be handled in the new TL. I'm new and all, so take my opinions and all with a grain of salt.
First, and the largest potential plot hole I saw, Palps ain't dead... again again. He obviously (at least to me) had the power to Essence Transfer and was brought back to his prime with the intent of doing it again. How would that fit into future narratives, particularly with respect to the new TL.
-Personally, I can't see him being permadead. He survived before, surviving what happened seems a matter of course particularly in what was probably a nexus. He DID want Rey to kill him again after all. So, as far as the TL goes I guess I'm curious how that will be handled since papa Palps is still running around.
Second, the Sith seem to have been completely destroyed. Or maybe not? I mean, the implication of the film seemed to be trying to impart that the Sith had been completely eradicated. But at the same time, for the sake of logic I can't imagine every single Sith follower to have been at that gathering.
-Personally, I can't imagine every Sith being there (seems like poor planning), but for the film to have major lasting impact and "closure" I kinda feel like all of the Sith need to have perished there (even if I'm kinda bummed by it). So I guess I'm wondering what TL "dark side" faction will rise out of that.
Third, the Republic. It effectively fell before because of previous corruption coming back to the surface paralyzing it from doing anything. Is the First Order completely gone, or is it basically the Remnant now? Will the Republic even be reestablished at all in the face of seeing what it led to last time?
- Personally, I think the Galaxy won't be keen on another Republic like the ones of old after the last major one led to brutal tyranny (with some pining for the stability it brought) and the recent one basically causing every major politician and great mind getting vaped in one go. It would make sense for the Galaxy to kind of be in "I'm going my own way" mode after continuously having one faction or another borking everything up for everyone. But, that all relies on the Order being gone and not still organized to a level that can eventually spread (especially since they apparently have Star Destroyer mounted superlaser tech). I could see the Order coming back with a vengeance if they held onto that tech.
Fourth, the Jedi/Bloodlines. So... Rey is both a Palpatine AND a Skywalker in essence. There wasn't really much to imply she was going to restart the Order. I suppose that was all left open ended intentionally, but the bloodline matter is still there so how will that be handled in the new TL?
- Personally, well... I guess I'm wondering how the bloodline stuff will be handled haha. It would be a logical progression to restart the Order again with tweaks like Legends Luke did.
Not trying to dictate stuff here, interested in discussion and input from those shaping the TL since those were the major things I saw that would impact the TL/canon.
