READ THIS WHOLE THREAD!
As you all know, Nexus recently resigned as an administrator, creating the need for a new Role-Play Administrator. In addition to needing a new RP Admin to join the other RP Admins, Matt and SIN, we have decided to bring on a second Faction Admin to help the very busy Lavi with independent factions. We expect that independent factions will be booming once the timeline really kicks into gear, so we will need an additional administrator to help out with that.
The Role-Play Administrator position is defined as follows:
It is the responsibility of the Role-Play Administrators to moderate the role-play boards, which includes the main Story board, the diverse role-playing area, the character profiles board, and the out-of-character role-playing discussion boards. Role-Play Administrators are also meant to help solve problems that arise in threads, including but not limited to duels, battles, and other general issues. Role-Play Administrators will also serve as battle moderators during battles between factions.
If one of the Role-Play Administrators is involved in a thread’s dispute, then another Role-Play Administrator must be contacted in order to avoid conflicts of interest. This means that a Role-Play Administrator can never use their position to settle their own role-playing disputes.

It is the primary job of the Faction Administrators to approve new independent factions and to oversee and regulate the workings of existing independent factions. To a lesser extent, Faction Administrators will assist in discussions in the Hall of Leaders board between the main faction leaders, helping to coordinate information with the different faction leaders, and to ensure that the faction leaders have every resource that they need in order to effectively manage their factions.
Should a Faction Administrator wish to create an independent faction of their own, another administrator must be the one to review the faction. This means that a Faction Administrator can never use their position to unilaterally approve their own faction and do what they want with it. This applies to any other administrator as well.

In keeping with the requirements for becoming an administrator on this website, a potential administrator must receive nominations from no less than five (5) other members. This means that other members must send a Private Message to me nominating you for adminship. These five do NOT include yourself.
Only once you receive five (5) nominations will you be considered an official candidate who can become an administrator. This process is waived for former administrators that we may wish to re-hire, as most who are still active have already gone through this process.
However, in addition to this process, we are also adding that users who wish to become an administrator fill out an application where they a) express interest in becoming an administrator and b) answer relevant questions. If you do not send in this application, it does not matter how many nominations you receive—you will NOT be considered an official candidate.
That application is as follows:
1. Do you want to be a Role-Play Administrator, a Faction Administrator, or do you have no preference? Choosing no preference will not be held against you.
2. Why do you want to be an administrator?
3. Why should you become the next administrator?
4. What experience do you have in terms of organization and management?
5. What will you bring to the position?
6. If there was one thing you could change with the current staff, what would it be? This is not a question about individual administrators themselves, but rather how the staff operates.
7. How important is it to you that administrators role-play?
8. What do you feel will be your greatest strength as an administrator? Why?
9. What do you feel will be your greatest weakness as an administrator that you will have to remain mindful of? Why?
10. What are things that a good administrator should be doing on the website? Why?
11. What are things that a good administrator should NOT be doing on the website? Why? A good way to think about this is if you have ever seen an administrator act in a way that is unbecoming of their position, or if you have ever seen an administrator overstep what you feel should be their boundaries. Please do not name names.
12. Taking into account all of the previous questions, if you were to define the word “administrator” for this website, how would you define it?
13. Why did the chicken cross the road?

Two other requirements are that a) you must be at least 16 years old to become an administrator and b) you must have at least 1,000 posts to become an administrator. These requirements can be waived for exceptionally qualified candidates. If you feel you are exceptionally qualified but you do not meet those requirements or you feel that someone else is exceptionally qualified but they do not meet those requirements, feel free to send in an application or nomination, respectively.
If you become an administrator, you will also be part of a two month probationary period where your job title will be “Staff in Training.” This will allow us to see how you perform during that two month period and whether you are a good fit on the admin team. If you are, you will either become a Role-Play Administrator or a Faction Administrator, depending on where you best fit on the team. If you are not, then your time as an administrator will end when the probationary period is over, or it will end beforehand if it is deemed necessary.
Yes, that was a lot of information, but it was important information.
To recap, anyone interested in being an administrator must: a) send in the aforementioned application; b) receive nominations from at least five (5) users other than themselves; c) be at least 16 years old; and d) have at least 1,000 posts. B does not apply to former administrators who we may wish to re-hire, and C and D can be waived for exceptionally qualified candidates.
If you are sending in an application for yourself, you must send it to me via Private Message. If you are sending in a nomination for another member, you must send it to me via Private Message. Applications and/or nominations not sent to me via Private Message will be ignored unless you have first contacted me about sending it via other means.
Applications and nominations will be accepted until 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time on Saturday, September 3, 2011. You may send in your application or send in revisions to your application until then, and you may nominate as many other members as you would like until then. Once we have our official candidates, we will let each one of them know that they are an official candidate and then we will make our decision.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or post here at any time during this process. Posting here is the preferred means, as that way other members who have the same question will see the answer.
Thanks, and good luck to all who are interested!
