DESCRIPTION
The Z3D Armed Pinnace is a light spacecraft widely used by backwater planetary defense forces, private military contractors, fringers, pirates, and occasionally even professional militaries. Designed as a pinnace- the halfway point between a fighter and a light freighter or patrol boat- to be carried aboard larger ships, the vessels biggest claim to fame at the moment is being one of the smallest publicly marketed ships to be equipped with a hyperdrive and nav-computer, making it useful for short interstellar hops and courier runs. The ship requires a two man crew for optimum performance- the pilot fly's the craft and works the navigation and communication systems, while the gunner station situated behind the pilot seat manages the ships weapon and defense systems. The main body of the craft situated behind and below the control seats features four fold out bunks, as well as recessed storage bins for personal belongings and rations, allowing the pinnace to carry two passengers in addition to the pilot- though the ride like this has been described as a bit cramped. The belly of the craft is used for storage space which can manage up to a half ton of cargo, tightly packed. The Z3D is quiet maneuverable for its size, and with its deflector shield for defense, as well as a low-yield launcher tube and a pair of laser cannons, it makes for a workable combat craft in a pinch. In the hands of a skilled pilot, it can hold its own against proper Starfighters for a short time. While not intended as a full-fledged military vessel, it can stand it's ground well enough, and makes a good utility spacecraft at all other times. While it excels as a courier carrying vital passengers and cargo short distances, it is too small to function as a good smuggler or freighter, too cramped to make a proper shuttle, too slow to be a fighter, and too lightly armed to make a reliable patrol boat or bomber. Jack of all, master of none, the Z3D is the epitome of a utility craft.
ADVANCED TECH
Yes. Hyperdrive equipped ships this small are an expensive and sought after commodity, and the armament requires special licensing.Adapted from work by Autofox
