DESCRIPTION
The YT-1930 transport was a model of freighter in the YT-series conceived by Corellian Engineering Corporation. Like most YTs it was a saucer-shaped starship, 36.8 meters in length, with a centrally positioned cockpit sandwiched between two large mandibles. Conceived as a replacement for the venerable YT-1300, and indeed being one of many ships designed by CEC to do so, the 1930 fared little better than its predecessors or successors, never attaining the reputation and popularity of the 1300.

At the time of its introduction, the YT-1930 boasted impressive specifications, including fully twice the cargo capacity than the YT-1300, attained mainly through the addition of two wedge-shaped semi-external cargo bays toward the rear. All this in a ship only a few meters longer than the YT-1300. CEC projected that the YT-1930 would eclipse the YT-1300 in sales within a few years of its introduction; unfortunately, the buying public had other plans. Although YT-1930 sales figures were reasonable, they could not put a dent in those of its older sibling.

Over a century later, YT-1930s are a relative rarity. Unlike the older YT-1300, which still has a vast and dedicated community of fans and owners, and is still supported by official parts networks, YT-1930s benefit from almost none of this, being largely seen as just another anonymous CEC freighter. Those few that remain in service have become increasingly difficult to maintain; it is projected that few will continue in service longer than a few more decades.

LEGALITY
Legal. Light freighters such as the YT-1930 are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To create a standard civilian transport.
