After the battle of Endor, a Colony was formed on the planet, and slowly it began to grow and shape into a sizable location. Over the years, things shifted and changed, but the people for the most part were friendly. It wasn't city, but it was big enough and some ships would come and pass, mostly smugglers and freight workers who were looking for a place to refuel and dock during long galactic flights. They were far away from the Great Temple and the Jedi, nestled among coves of the purple trees and swamps that made up most of Yavin.

But, it seemed even they were experiencing strange symptoms of whatever darkness fed on the planet. Reports of more violent activity breaking out among the people, and large shuttles of corporate men and women arriving to the planet was of some concern to Oren, and it was something he sought to look out for. He needed to find out what was going on in the colony and who was arriving to the planet and for what reason. It wasn't going to be easy, but thankfully the young Izel would be with him. "Let's hope this mission goes far easier than the last ones," he'd say with a bright smile.

"You can say that again..." Izel replied, trying to match the Jedi Master's cheerful attitude. She couldn't help but glance at the scars on her arm, a trophy of their last mission together on Dxun. She had nothing against Oren. Quite the opposite in fact. The Padawan viewed him as an excellent example to the Order and someone she strived to be more like. But she couldn't help but develop a bit of an anxious reaction to going on missions with him, considering each time now had almost been the end of her. She tried to put these worrisome thoughts out of her mind though. Emotion, Yet Peace, she assured herself.

"I suppose we should get right to it," She said, trying to focus on the task at hand. "It seems our investigation is two fold, finding the source of the increased aggression in the settlers and learning the intentions of the recent arrivals. Although the two may be linked." Her antennae twitched thoughtfully. "Perhaps we should start with these corporate newcomers and see how the locals are responding to them?" She suggested, looking to the Master for a response. She had some negative experiences from her past regarding the uneasy relationship between the Vratix natives and human colonists on Thyferra. While her family had not been as opposed to working with humans as others, they still felt the strain of an overbearing foreign corporation on their world. She was hoping a similar situation wasn't developing on Yavin as well.

The two of them walked across the dirt trails that lead towards the colony, Oren's hands slipped into his vest as he peered towards Izel with a small frown on his face, he could see the anxiousness on her face and he knew all too well what she was thinking--it rippled through the force, and her thoughts were broadcast all too well to the Jedi Master.

"Your thoughts dwell on the past missions," he'd say quietly, "I understand, but know that there will always be challenges we face. Try and remain at peace."

He nodded as Izel spoke, his eyes focused on the walls of the colony and the dark sort of foreboding feeling that seemed to cling to the air. There were a few guards, dressed in ponchos with their hoods pulled over their heads, as a soft rain fell upon them. The men would peer and turn as they entered, giving an ominous feeling that seemed to stick with the Jedi Master.

"I agree with your reasoning Izel, but something tells me that it won't be as simple as we believe." He'd sigh as he stepped in to see the colony was barely lit, men and women scurried about in hushed tones, though the center of the town seemed to be lit with flares being shot into the air. "This doesn't seem right."

He could hear people calling out, "They're in the trees! Look! Look!" Though Oren saw or felt nothing around them, just a strange cloud of confusion.

"Should we head towards the center to see what's going on?" He'd ask with a raised brow.

Izel waved in a friendly manner as they approached the town gate, and watched curiously as the men guarding the entrance to the colony turned and departed rather than greet them. It was not the reaction she would have suspected. It seemed Oren was right. "Were the colonists informed we were coming?" She asked the Master quietly. She didn't want to send a bad first impression, but she had no idea of the local attitude towards Jedi.

With the sudden uproar coming from the center of town she gripped her lightsaber-pike more tightly, although she didn't ignite it just yet. She reached out with her senses as well, although something seemed to be obscuring her vision. Something was definitely wrong. She only hoped they weren't about to run into more vicious beasts. "I think that's a good idea..." She answered Oren, and hastily moved forward. Taking heed of the settlers cries she kept her eyes up, scanning over the trees for any sign of movement. If there was to be an attack, she had no intention of being caught off guard.

The sky seemed to dance with flairs that shot white hot light. Blasters were drawn and shots were fired into the air and towards the blackness of clouds that seemed to roll over the Yavin skyline. The rain seemed to be coming down harder now, and Oren started to realize something. There were no children here, and most of the women had run to their homes and hidden within their homes. All around them men and ran, taking cover behind crates or ditches that were dug within the colony center.

"Get the force out of here man!" A faceless man went running by in an orange flight suit and faded within moments. Something strange was going on here and through the shadows of the clouds the outline of a super star destroyer appeared, with black ties slowly fading into the clouds.

"Stay close to me Izel.." something terribly wrong was occurring here, this had to be the manifestations of the darkness that lingered on the planet, whatever it was was causing these flashes of a war that long ago happened. The center of the town seemed to have been converted into a warzone center, with trenches dug and makeshit command centers. Townsfolk set themselves up with blaster rifles and E-WEB cannons which they fired into the air.

"We got imps through the wire, take those son's of bith out!" A young man called out as he fired his E-WEB into the air, "Haha I got them now!"

"What are you firing at son?" Oren would ask as he jumped into the trench, finding a whole swarm of colonists huddled up in old resistance and rebel gear. Something felt strange, almost as if they had walked into the set of a holo-film recreating the old wars. But, this seemed real and the colonists thought they were at war, but why? The Jedi Master wasn't sure.

Does the Darkside have such a strong pull that it can slowly convince these people to think they are part of the Galactic Civil War..If so, what have we come across and what is going on here.. He wasn't sure if these colonists were alive or if they were ghosts of battles long ago fought on these lands. "What the kriff you think I'm shooting at, bloody bucket heads." The Young man would turn back to peer towards Oren and Izel, "Oh sir.." He'd quickly salute, "The Imperial Armada is hitting us hard for taking out that moon of theirs.."

Oren would raise a brow as he sighed, "Do you know who is in charge here?"

"You aren't?" The boy would shake his head before turning back to firing with his E-WEB.

"We need to find the headquarters and find out what's going on here.." He'd turn to Izel, "Are you okay?"

Izel was struck by complete surprise at the situation they found themselves in. The colonists seemed to be in a heated battle with... absolutely no one. And then she looked up, and with a flash of lightning caught a glimpse of what could be nothing else but an old imperial star destroyer. "Impossible..." She murmured to herself, in complete disbelief of what she was seeing. She sensed no presence of life. It had to be an illusion, but it seemed entirely too real.

Oren's warning brought her back to the moment, and she followed close behind the Master. listening to the words of the "soldier" they encountered it seemed clear to her these colonists were completely ensnared by this strange manufactured scenario. It started to give her an idea.

"I'm fine," She answered Oren promptly. "Although it's clear whatever is going on, it's totally real to these people..." She looked around for anything that looked like a command center. "Perhaps if we help them 'win' this battle the illusion will end and we'll be able to find out what in the world is going on." She looked back to Oren. "It's just like the cave on Ifrane. But on a much larger scale. These people need to overcome this darkness." The young Padawan was fascinated by the implications of such a strong Force illusion, although for the time being it was more important they resolved this problem with as few deaths as possible.

Oren worked his way across the trenches, peering towards the men and women who gave the two of them passing glances, a few of them saluting while others grumbled at the lack of discipline. He listened to Izel speak, she provided a few good suggestions and assumptions on the matter, but he wasn't quite sure this was the complete truth.

"What we faced was a trial of spirit, we didn't cure the lingering darkness that was on Ifrane," he'd whisper, "This darkness on Yavin is growing stronger by the day, and this is very much real, I have an assumption that there are ghosts appearing here, the bodies mixed in with the colonists are the souls of men that perished during that ancient war."

The sound of thermal shells exploding across the landscape could be heard, as well as flashes of white armor in the distance. "I don't think this can be overcome, not in the way that you are thinking...there is something causing these old memories to surface, and destroying that is what I believe will end this and clear the nexus that exists on this planet."

He'd keep his head low as he made his way across the maze and tunnel, various colonists and ghostly rebels firing away into the mist of night that clung to the air. "We're looking for the headquarters," Oren would call out towards one of the rebels who was firing away.

"It's kriffing up that way," the man would yell as he waved his arm to keep moving down, "Where else would it kriffing be?"

Oren would give a simple nod as they made their way towards the bunker station. "Take a deep breath, we'll figure this out, okay?"

Izel followed Oren's lead, keeping her head low as she moved through the trenches, cringing frightfully as explosions went off and blaster bolts whizzed by her head. She awkwardly returned the salutes of some of the "soldiers", seeming to subconsciously play into the role of a rebel officer. When the Jedi Master explained his theory on what was happening she perked up in surprise and fascination.

"Really?" She exclaimed. "That's incredible!" She reached out and prodded at one of the colonists as they passed him, receiving a confused look in return. She had no idea spirits could actually possess the living, even those with no connection to the Force. Then she looked back to Oren and felt a wave of embarrassment at her inappropriate excitement. "I mean... It's horrible... But very interesting..."

Izel ducked down low as they entered the tunnel. As they moved a muted explosion could be heard going off overhead, her antennae twitching uncomfortably as loosened dirt fell on her. "But if the disturbance is so widespread can it really be as simple as destroying a single source?" She asked. "You said before it could take many years to fully restore a place tainted by the dark side." She looked around them, seeing only more male colonists and ghostly soldiers. "Not to mention... It doesn't exactly explain where all the women and children have gone either." A grim thought flitted through the Padawan's mind, and she tried not to think of the worst case scenario. Listening to Oren's words she took a deep breath and centered herself, focusing on resolving their predicament one step at a time.

Oren moved along the trench like a snake sliding blades of tall grass, his eyes narrowed and sharp like daggers as he scanned forward. "A planet like Ifrane was devastated to the core, stripped of natural resources and laid bare like a cancer, Yavin is suffering from a surface level darkness, one that could possibly lead to a scenario like Ifrane." He'd say quietly as he crouched walked through the trenches.

"To fight a cancer, we need to find the root cause of what's causing the darkness," the sound of booming turbo lasers filled the air, "None of this is physically real, at least in the sense of the Empire, but the same root cause that is causing us to see these manifestations could be deduced if we possibly play along."

Up ahead was the rebel outpost, where several citizens dressed in old garb and gear sat looking over the battle plans. Their ghostly eyes would shift towards the two of them as they entered. How would the young Izel react, Oren wasn't quite certain.

Izel listened to Oren's explanation as they moved through the trench, struggling to focus and follow along in the midst of the cacophonous illusionary battle raging around them. "It sounds awfully complicated..." She muttered mostly to herself. "It would be nice if all we had to do was calm down another Force spirit..." Nothing about Ifrane had been simple in the moment, but now the Padawan found herself wishing for such a straightforward solution.

She stopped abruptly when Oren did, almost bumping into the Master before turning her attention to the colonists standing before them. Or rather rebel officers as they appeared to be impersonating. The young Vratix was fascinated rather than frightened by their ghostly appearance, stepping forward and tilting her head curiously as she inspected them. The effect was uncanny. Men that were likely simple farmers or laborers carried themselves with the confidence of seasoned veterans. Had Izel not known better she would have thought she'd stepped right into the past. But as they glared at her with unsettling glazed-over eyes the Padawan remembered Oren's words and drew herself up, trying to put on the same act.

"R-report." She faltered slightly, antennae twitching, but tried to speak with the authority of an officer herself. "Play along" as Oren had put it. The other colonists had addressed them both as superiors, so she assumed that both she and Oren were being looked at like the Jedi of the Clone Wars were. As a Master and Apprentice, their ranks would translate to General and Commander. Or at least that's what she hoped was the case. If not she had just stepped horribly out of line for a soldier.

The men and women, simple farmers or cargo shippers as they once were had taken on the identity of grizzled and shell shocked war officers. Their eyes hung heavy with a tiredness almost as if they hadn't slept in many days. The small confines of the make shift bunker shook and rumbled with each turbo-cannon shot, making it hard to hear. He watched as Izel stepped forward a bit, asking for a report. Most of the Men peered towards her as if she was speaking with six different heads.

"Aren't you in charge?" A Sullustan would bicker as he peered out of the trenches.

Oren was about to speak when a maverick of an officer came in from the other side, boisterous and proud, a slight smirk across his face. "We're giving those Bucket-Heads a run for their life!" The man ran a hand through his shaved blonde hair as he peered towards both the Jedi, "You must be the special forces, excuse these tarks..a bunch of new recruits pissing away at their first turbo barrage."

He motioned the two Jedi to follow as he lead them out back into trenches where dozens of armed rebel forces were preparing themselves. Ghostly TIE fighters came screeching across the sky before being shot down by what appeared to be ancient X-Wings. "Force be damned...I love the smell of turbo exhaust in the evening." He motioned towards the troops.

"I don't know if you've been briefed, but that company of Imperial Special forces has entered the area in search of some death star, our troops found out about it, scouts...But, they blasted right through with an armada of Destroyers." He'd click the safety off of his blaster rifle as he motioned towards his men.

"We're going to hit that Imperial encampment up ahead, they've been shelling us with turbo cannons, and we're hoping to put them out before they have time to take the colony."
He'd grumble, "Those blasted Remnant troops think they can make us turn and run! Let's give em hell!" He'd whistle, as he jumped over the trench and into the no man's land, the hundreds of rebel troops doing the same.

"We should follow," the Jedi Master would say.

Izel felt a wave of anxiety wash over her as the 'Rebels' peered at her, beginning to fear she had misread this strange scenario. The appearance of the supposedly more experienced officer drawing attention to himself was something of a relief. When the man gestured for them to follow the Padawan looked to Oren for direction before following his lead back into the trenches.

She listened closely to what the rebel was saying, trying to discern through his words exactly what time period this scenario was taking place in. At first she thought it might have been right after the Battle of Yavin, when Imperial forces came to drive the Rebellion off of the planet in retaliation for the destruction of the first Death Star. But the mention of the Imperial Remnant made her first theory unlikely. Was this near the end or shortly after the end of the Galactic Civil War then? It seemed more likely, although she couldn't recall ever reading about Imperial troops returning to Yavin in search of the remains of the Death Star. Perhaps it was a covert operation never reported on?

But her train of thought was cut off when the rebel suddenly leapt over the trench and led a charge towards the enemy line. Izel turned to Master Oren and nodded at his words. "Right." She said in confirmation, and followed behind the charging rebels. Oren was right. If there was a source of darkness anywhere on this planet, it would be with the remains of that horrible battle station.
