Classification Reptilian Humanoid
Diet Omnivorous
Lifespan 225 Galactic Standard Years
Height 6'4-7' feet.
Worlds Umbara

The Yautkan were a humanoid sentient reptilian species native to the planet Umbara. A tribal species with advanced technology. Known for hunting many species from other worlds. In recent times they had become more diplomatic than before. They live in many different terrains, and as well as many other planets. They were an immigrating species and could be found in any parts of the galaxy, though their presence was matched with that of a Mandalorian. Force sensitivity was uncommon, but not impossible.

Biology

The species was rather large, Yautkan females averaged 6 and half feet in height, with males averaging at 6'10"-7'. Yautkan have similar sight to the average person. Because of their particular physiology, Yautkan are resilient to the cold, though they prefer the heat, and are noticeably more muscular of a build than many other species. The most distinguishing feature of Yautkan are their arthropod-like mandables, located around the mouth. Another feature would be the quills that came out of the skull of the Yautkan. Yautkan possess strong lungs, enabling them to breathe on land, but were subject to drowning. The Yautkan usually wore masks to allow for extracting oxygen from water, or to preserve oxygen to allow for survival within space.

The blood of the Yautkan was much different than usual species color of red. The Yautkan had a bright green color to their blood. It was like a glowing color. What would be considererd the "hair" of the Yautkan was the same make of the quills. The smaller quills covered areas of the face as normal facial hair would on the average Human. They can be found on the legs, arms, and torso of the Yautkan as well. More common on the male gender than the female.

As one would expect, Yautkan are exceptionally strong. Their athletically muscular build gave them strength that was matched only by the race of Trandoshan. They are a fast species, though not fast enough to be considered super human. Quick reflexes were blessed upon this race for their hunting abilities. The Yautkan is believed to be able to beat a conditioned adult human in a one on one fist fight with ease. Their skin colors vary from black, gray, white, green, and other colors of the rainbow. They are also known to be skilled climbers with great agility.

Breeding

In contrast to most reptiles, Yautkan young are born live, in a similar way to mammals. Like most species that do not reproduce asexually, reproduction requires both a male and a female. As a humanoid species, Yautkan are technically capable of sexual reproduction with Humans and most other Near-Human species, although their relative isolation makes such unions very rare. Yautkan become sexually, physically and psychologically mature after one and a half decades.

Weaknesses

The Yautkan rely on their masks to give them thermal vision, so any hiding of the body heat would cause for the Yautkan to not see the other individual so long it was wearing the mask, though without the mask it is known they see much like the other humanoid species in the galaxy.

Diet

Yautkan are omnivorous, although their dietary consumption leans more heavily toward carnivorous. Yautkan mainly eat mammals, amphibians, fish, and bird, although they also supplement their diet with fruits and vegetables when they are without meat.

Behavior & Temperament

Commonly aggressive and intelligent, Yautkan are more often than not fighters. Although each of the Clans that make up Yautkan society are distinct from one another, they are as a whole a protective and aggressive species, not unlike the Mandalorians, and to many in the galaxy, this results in the Yautkan appearing as ruthless killers.

Communication

Although Basic is a known language among them, Yautkan still maintain their own indigenous language, known as Yautkanian. Although a constructed verbal language, Yuatkanian is only able to be fully understood with the clicks and roars. This causes Yautkan to have very distinct voices that carried a “harsh” effect. This communication is possible due to the Yautkan having a distinct vocal cord, which produced sound at conventionally audible levels.

Although audible to other species, who simply hear the Yautkan speaking with a lower tone, it was only truly perceptible by any species that could hear phonetics. These phonetic projections were strong enough to be heard if the Yautkan wished for it to be louder, but can also be toned down to a whisper almost. Yautkan best communicated to each other in Yautkanian, though with practice and studying, other species would be able to understand what is said by the Yautkan, unfortunately they would not be able to speak Yautkanian for they lack the requirements physically.

Culture

Neither patriarchal or matriarchal in nature, the Yautkan people instead governed themselves equally. The most prominent leaders among the Yautkan were marked. The mark could be a scar, or even just by the amount of "trophies" that were carried on the body. The leaders were commonly the strongest or smartest of the Yautkan within their respective clans.

Although all of the highest leaders were on the top of their Clans totem poles, they all served under one King. The King would ultimately have final say in all decisions that required his presence. Yautkan Clans were ruled in a brutish fashion; a chieftan and an adviser would be the common leaders in the Clans. Though if one of the members of the Clan wanted the title of the chieftan, they could challenge at any time for leadership, and if successful in the fight to the death they would become the chieftan. There were rules to the challenges issuing. The current chieftan would have to accept, though if they declined they would be seen as a coward. Also, the fight to the death is only bare handed, any weapons used would have to be announced prior to the commencement of the fight.

The Chieftan was responsible for any and all actions made by his Clan. The Adviser was to inform the Chieftan of any status updates that the Chieftan was unaware of. As well as they were much more diplomatic and attended all meetings with the King at the side of their Chieftan. The meetings were held in the King's capital ship. Meetings held at the Clan level included the entirity, or as much as possible, of the Clan. Usually Clan meetings were over the "Rite of Passage" which was the trial for adolescent Yautkan to gain their first kills. Once they had perfected the Right of Passage and became warriors, and hunters in the Clan, they would be seen as an adult and ready to start a family and go on Clan level hunts.

History

The Yautkan civilization has had an extensive history in the galaxy. The Yuatkan people were once feared as they were known to be a hunter of sort, of which would hunt down it's prey and steal the skull, and in some cases the spine, as a trophy. The other people of the galaxy would tend to steer away from the areas of which known activity from the Yautkans was taking place. The Yuatkan were given many nicknames, "Skull Hunters" "Rippers" and "Men of Death" were some of the more common names. Most of the time they were considered as freaks, and out casted. Though in many cases when beginning an altercation with the Yautkan, the other person would perish as a consequence.

The year 10,574 BBY was the start of the separation of the people of the galaxy and Yautkan cultures. While Humans, and various other species, liked to inhabit planets and moons through the galaxy, Yautkan preferred life among the stars in their large ships. Some Clans did inhabit areas of planets and moons, such as Umbara where the largest planet inhabiting clans stayed, though they were fewer than the Clans living in space on the cruiser sized ships. When hunting on the other hand, the Yautkan migrate to warmer areas more often than not. The warmer weather usually drew out large beasts worthy of the Yautkan to hunt down.

In the past the Yautkan would hunt down Humans, Twi'leks, Weequay, and various other races among the people throughout the galaxy because they faired as worthy competition with the weapons they had built. Most hunts were limited to only three Yautkan at a time. When the hunters would make good on their kill, they would take the skull of their opponent as a trophy. Most Yautkan kept their trophies in their quarters, but some wore the trophies they were most proud of. These hunts on the people of the galaxy went on for thousands of years.

In the year 2,572 BBY, the Yautkan had a new King come to glory by the name of Jag. Jag had different ideals than most of his Yautkan brethren. Where most Yautkan had seen the people of the galaxy as prey, Jag seen the same people as potential allies. The Yautkan King sought out to create a more diplomatic leadership among the Yautkan. It was confrontational at the start, with Civil Wars starting between the Clans who did or did not follow Jag. These wars went on for 76 years. By 2,496 BBY, the Yautkan had ended their Civil Wars for Jag had died from a hunt against a strong opponent.

In his succession was his son Fjor. Fjor shared the same ideals as his father, but enforced them much differently. He made it law among the Yautkan that the killing of people will no longer be sport. The only time Yautkan can kill people, is if it's for the benefit of the Clan, Planet, Moon, or if the Clan is of an alliance with a people who need the support. If these laws were broken, the violator will suffer execution by way of decapitation from the King himself. Many Yautkan didn't want to listen to the law that was put out, as well as some of the Chieftans of the Clans.

So eventually, Knig Fjor had the royal army of the Yautkan seize all violators and had then beheaded publicly. After a few short years the Yautkan began to obey the laws set out by King Fjor. In the year 2, 452 BBY, King Fjor signed the first diplomatic treaty for peace with the people of the galaxy. This treaty also identified the Yautkan as a people of their own right. They were no longer known as Predators throughout the galaxy, though in some cases the slander would still remain with the people prejudice against them.

There was peace peace then and there is peace now. The Yautkan people have been sticking to their culture of the hunt. In some cases they would share the hunt with other people, but more often than not the Yautkan hunted alone or with fellow Yautkan. The Clans would continue to operate on their own, but still following the laws placed by King Fjor from thousands of years ago. The current King, King Horvux was keen on the laws of the Yautkan. If any were broken, disciplinary action would taken accordingly.

Intent

The addition of a beloved species from space. Besides adding in a fun new species that could have a possible link to the Star Wars universe is a great choice. If ET can do it, then the Predator can as well.

This is almost enough of a rip of the Yautja from the Predator franchise, including the name and nickname of the species, that it needs significant edits. The usage of their likeness is fine, however.

This species can't have as much impact as is currently written on early Human civilization and development.

For other notes: Almost every species is susceptible to frostbite in cold weather, and it also says they're resilient to cold. It's not really a weakness. Their males are also specifically as strong as a Wookiee while being notably smaller and also faster. A Trandoshan or similar might be a better comparison of strength.

And this last bit is just my opinion, but they seem reptilian rather than amphibious. They seem to have little to no connection or requirement for being in water.

Updated, kept similar name to the species for respect to the franchise but different nonetheless

I hesitate to call these near-human but it wouldn't be the strangest thing I suppose. Can you elaborate on what 'speed' means? Reflexes, running, etc? Please remove references to movies.

It also says their culture separated from humans. Is that meant to be Umbarans? Are they still meant to be on Umbara? Aside from equipment (masks), do they see in the common light spectrum?

Their weaknesses don't seem to be weaknesses specific to the species, exactly. Bright lights stun most things, so on.

Also please go through for spelling and grammatical errors.
