Somewhere in the jungle of Yavin...

Not Yavin...

After Onderon, Hailee had hoped that there would be a longer period without any invasion, especially after the Killik invasion and the ceasefire...Admittedly, the ceasefire was over, but she hadn't expect that things would escalate that quickly.

And now here she was on Yavin, in the midst of the jungle with a group of resistance fighters and other Jedi who were waiting for the troops to arrive. She had her 'borrowed' red lightsaber in her hand and was waiting for the scout to spot the first Imperial intruder in the sector.

The grandmaster was already evacuating the temple, yet Hailee stood her ground right where she was. She wouldn't let the Empire get closer to it...Yavin had become her home after her master had picked her up om Corellia. She had immediately felt like home and now this home was getting taken away from her. She wouldn't leave it behind without a fight and despite feeling that her emotions were boiling up, she was still breathing calmly.

She breathed in and out and in again, remembering her teachings and everything Pêro and all the other knights had taught her. She would not give up...not Yavin.

For a few more hours she had patiently waited for something to happen, but she first wave of Imperial soldiers only came in after a whole while. While waiting wasn't fully her strong suit, she had mananged to patiently wait though. She was waiting for further orders, but so far it was her job to hold them off. No Imperial soldier or Sith was suppose to get through their line.

When the scouts reported that they were getting close, they had jumped up a huge tree and waited until they had been under them, before the other Jedi and her launched a surpise attack from above. The fight was rather short and they mananged to push the Imperial soldiers back, however after that short fight and the retreat of the enemies, their group was rather scattered.

With the crimson bladed lightsaber in her right hand, she was waiting for the next wave, but it seemed like the soldiers were rather scared of for now. She counted that as a success, especially because it had seemed like the soldiers hadn't expect that much resistance in this sector. However now that she was alone, there was a brief period of an eerie silence in this thicker part of the forest.

Another post due to the time out. The troops are pushed back for now

When his mother had spoken to him all those years ago, charged him with the task that, she said, "Would name him the greatest of their line," he hadn't had a clue of what it would mean. She'd filled his head with stories of their dynasty's mythic past, of their right to ascendance over their homeworld. She had told him that of all the families that had risen to dominance, it had been the family that had made themselves allies of the Sith that had granted them that position-- and that it would be his task to ensure that, when the flag of the empire was planted on Brentaal, it would be his family that held it in their hands.

Up until today, that had been a task he had never once questioned.

He was clad in the robes he'd had tailored the year prior, the clothes he wore on every mission. He thanked Sol for the wisdom that had led him to purchase the high boots he now wore, as they kept his feet dry in the muck of the jungle. His lightsaber was clad to his belt. From the bridge of his nose, paint spread out in the forms of wings and flapped across most of his face, porphyrogenite purple. It was a primitive display, but it felt appropriate-- it was the style for when a Brentaalan went to war.

War.

He had arrived after comm chatter picked up on the Jedi advancing on an out-there position-- it wasn't very important, so anyone who carried a saber was useful. There was a small detachment of soldiers with him-- fresh recruits from the looks of it.

They were ill prepared, but they knew basic ambush tactics. They had the element of surprise when they struck.

The eerie silence was broken by a hail of blasterfire tearing through the greenery of the forest, followed by hastily practiced warcries. Several soldiers charged forward at the Jedi and her men-- and that was when Alex struck. Hailee would hear the hiss of a saber at her side, a blade of crimson flashing to light as Alex leapt from the brush.

Ill practiced as he was, he knew the basics of lightsaber combat, and he was quick. If he was lucky, he could cut the Jedi down before she could react. Her men would doubtless retreat, and only one person would have to die.

Only one.

For a brief moment, there was a pin drop silence, but of course it got broken when the Imperials changed the tides. Suddenly, a whole new platoon broke through the thicket, with blaster bolts flying from their side into the direction of the resistance soldiers in the back, but Hailee had no time to pay any attention to them as another lightsaber hissed into existence rather close to her.

Since she had patiently waited and listened, she saw the young man coming from the corner of her eyes and within a split second, she had turned her body towards the acolyte that sprang from the bushes in an attempt to surprise her. "Absolutely not" she angrily hissed as her crimson lightsaber came up to meet his mid-air.

She wouldn't give him any time go get any closer though. Her lightsaber was up and defensively held in front of her body, but before the man, who definitely looked younger than her, would even approach her, she was already trying to push him away right there. She sent a Force Push his way in an attempt to hurl him through the air and possibly even against a tree, before he'd reach meele distance, and if he managed to evade the push, she was ready to meet his blade, even if he'd come from a different direction now. She was not here to kill, but to defuse and chase them off, so she knew she'd probably have to knock him out somehow...

The Brentaalan's eyes widened as the Jedi met his surprise like he'd been a poorly hidden child in hide and seek. Instinctively he threw up a barrier, basic, but strong enough to keep him from being sent flying. His feels dug into the dirt and he stumbled back a little, but he quickly regained his balance and threw himself at the Jedi. Crackles of energy would pop through the air as crimson blades crunched together, the acolyte pressing as hard as he could manage with his limited strength.

The fighting around them only intensified, with soldiers yelling orders and warnings as blasterfire tore through the air. Alex's face was twisted in a look of determination and anger, as his boots dug into the ground.

Without warning, the Acolyte would disengage from the saber lock, throwing himself back in a basic leap and striking the Earth with his saber, which was followed up with a light force push. Dirt and debris was sprayed forward, and he hoped to obscure Hailee's vision as he darted to the side and came at her with his saber again in a downward cut.

His aggression was predictable, almost too predictable. Too easy. She exhaled sharply as their blades began to meet, her teeth gritted and she was absolutely determined to meet his blind aggression with the right amount of fierceness, too.

As their sabers were locked, she wanted to use that for her advantage, but the Sith suddenly disengaged what truly surprised her. She knew his aggressive nature would forbid him to actually move into a more defensive position, so she half expected him to pull a dirty move, and as the debris was sent flying, she let out an angry hiss. "Fighting dirty now, are we".

While she spat that in his direction, she rolled out of the way to avoid the vast majority of the pieces of dirt and debris and the rest of the push, but fortunately also moved away from the attacker as he sprung forward. Through the rolling and because she didn't move instantly, there were some parts of dirt that actually landed in her eyes, making her blink a couple of times, but while they would contribute to a blurry vision, they wouldn't stop her.

Without hesitation, she leapt forward to where the Sith now was, thus approaching him from the side while he slashed at the air where she had stood just a moment ago. Herbgaze immediately flicked back to the Sith, her eyes burning from the dirt, however she wouldn't let him catch his breath. With her free left hand she reached for her blaster that was fastened at her belt, grabbed it and fired a stun bolt his way. Maybe she could end this the easy way, but just in case she was definitely prepared for him to lash put again.

The Jedi's insults prompted little reaction from the Acolyte, lips creasing in a frown before he disengaged and cut the ground. Her insults mattered little, and her roll didn't either. He'd intended to obscure her vision, leave her vulnerable, and while he hadn't necessarily accomplished that, she'd still thrown herself into a precarious situation that she couldn't simply roll out of.

Her vision obscured, it wasn't immediately clear that Alex hadn't remained stationary upon arriving where she had stood. No, he had turned and darted forward, right as she had risen to her feet and done the same. Face to face, crimson blades would crash together a second time, far more aggressively than before.

Alex would bring his saber down in an arc that would've otherwise slashed through her shoulder blade, were it not for her block. He had been close enough and quick enough that, the Jedi would've been forced to abandon her attempt at shooting him if she wanted to survive. He gritted his teeth as he leaned into the push, summoning the force to enhance his own strength.

Hailee couldn't catch a break. The boy looked young but she had learnt not to underestimate young ones long ago, so she was definitely wary of the Sith. His immediate follow-up attack still came a bit quicker than expected and she only managed to let out an annoyed growl before their red blades colliding once again.

Since he had been that quick, she couldn't go through with her shot and was forced to lock his blade in place mid-air due to his attempted blow and the push hadn't sent him far off either. So with their blades now locked in a 45° above, she angrily glared at him as she coiled the Force around her leg and immediately brought it upwards and right inbetween his legs in an attempt to crush his groins.

It was a simple trick, yet super effective against most men. She was ensuring that there was no way he could bring his lightsaber down in time as she kept his blade locked mid-air. Also, since she kept her eyes locked on his, he wouldn't see this kick coming or at least that was what she was hoping for.

Continuing this cpvp thread after the agreed break regardless of the outcome of the main pvp as we're just doing background fluff

The determinism the Jedi was showing off was something to behold. She faced his attack head on, and even though she had failed in her counterattack, her defense held like a marble wall. He had enough stamina and strength to match her, but would it be enough to defeat her? Their men were trading blows for blows, nobody landing a decisive hit.. The element of surprise was gone, and the battle amongst their troops was going about as well as their own.

His attention was so preoccupied that he barely registered her knee flying up towards his crotch. He only had a split second to react, and he tried to shift out of the way. In doing so, Alex would slip on the muddy jungle floor, her knee slamming into his shoulder as his saber flashed off and was tossed aside. He let out a wail of pain, and turning up to the Jedi, would slam a massive force push into her center of mass, hoping to send her flying far enough that he could scramble to find his saber.

The battle raged all around them and for now the fight between the Sith and the Jedi seemed rather even, which frustrated Hailee a bit. While she had managed to parry for now, her follow-up attack had been intended to catch him off guard, however unfortunately the Sith still managed to twitch slightly, and while slipping, her knee crashed hard against his shoulder.

Obviously, she felt that impact too, regardless of the fact that she had the Force coiled around her leg. It didn't hurt her as much as it hurt him, but with his downward movement colliding with her knee, she was forced to stagger as well. With the Sith on the ground, she immediately followed with her blade in an attempt to incapacitate her opponent as she quickly set her lightsaber to stun mode with a click on the button.

As the push came unexpected, she didn't even see whether her blade hit as her vision was still obscures when she was pushed backwards. He had aimed at her midst, so that she wasn't thrown off her feet, but she was getting pushed out of melee range before she could push against it, her feet sliding to a halt and her concentration focused on stopping this involuntarily motion.

She let out an annoyed growl as she now stood still again, and immediately reached out with the Force to summon his lightsaber to her. She wasn't sure whether he'd be there in time to catch it, but she wanted to end this fight in case the lightsaber hadn't hit him earlier.

Perhaps if Alex had been better trained, he could've scrambled out of the way in time-- but as the force would have it, Hailee's blade would hit his shoulder. He let out a gasp and a cry-- and than, he was down. The boy's saber flew into her hand without issue. What followed was to be expected; the troops, seeing their force wielder struck down, panicked and started to run, sounding a retreat.

It was a minor skirmish, inconsequential, but for the fact that one non combat ready acolyte was left at the mercy of the Jedi. He prayed to all the Gods he knew the name of that he would simply be killed, that he wouldn't be captured, and identified, and traced back to his family. That was all the boy could hope for as he passed out.

It seemed like the Force was working in her favor today, because it seemed like the unexpected slip of the Sith had been his last, fatal mistake. The blade did indeed hit him and with Hailee sliding to a halt a few feet away, the fight was over.

The Sith dropped to the ground, his body limb and motionless and Hailee knew he would be out for quite some time. For a brief moment, a triumphant smile landed on her lips, but it didn't last long as one of the soldiers yelled something in her direction.

"Yavin has fallen! We need to leave! Shuttles are waiting but we need to go, NOW!" There was a desperate hint of panic in his voice as he bellowed his information. Hailee turned her head in his direction, a frown immediately crossing the soft features as a wave of worry washed over her.

How? How could this be happening?! Not Yavin...How could they lose this important base? The temple, the jungle...damn, what about the younglings?! Her blood was seemingly freezing up in her veins while she stared at him in pure disbelief in terror. She truly couldn't believe this was happening and she had no idea who made it out in this chaos alive...

A chill crept down her spine before she finally managed to move. She broke into a run, wanting to catch up with the platoon before Imperial reinforcements would arrive. It seemed like this skirmish here was won, as the Imperials were the ones retreating first, but it sounded like battle was lost...

With the Imperials on the run, Alexios would find himself alone on the ground once he would wake up unless the reinforcements had stumbled upon him and taken him with them. Even if Yavin had to be evacuated, Hailee would not forget the face of the young, fierce man that had almost gotten her...Almost, but not today.
