DESCRIPTION​

The XD-series droid is manufactured by Best Quality Mechanicals and is designed as a companion droid to assist its owner during research and exploration in any way possible. The XD droid specialises in data collection and accompanies the explorer during their travels.

However, due to the droid's short powercell battery life it has a feature which allows it to fold into a compact, immobile form and rest on the owner's back (similar to a backpack) when not in use in order to save power, when its in immobile mode it is still able to communicate.

The XD droid is designed to be more portable, hence why it is smaller than the average droid and has a compact state.

INTENT​

Inspired by the BD unit but with inferior and less tools, as well as use this series of droid as a companion to Kyi Wavestrider.

For droids I think even the generic type designs need to be submitted in the unapproved tech subforum. For droids only re-skins of already submitted designs are considered to be gentech. That, or a character who has a droid they have progressively upgrades but that is still based on an existing submission design.
