In the bowels of Coruscant on level 1215 rests the Quick Draw Cantina. It had been nearly a year since Covax had set foot in the place, or done any business at all for the family. After nearly meeting his maker in Durr the Hutt's palace, and in failed negotiations with the Queen of the Sith. The merc turned enforcer decided to take some time off and lick his wounds.

The time away was perhaps needed. But it was also boring. Covax had known nothing but soldiering, bounty hunting, and crime for most of his life. It was hard to walk away from all of that. So instead, he walked back into the home of Zaa Fenn within the Core. To his home away from home.

He walked back to his favorite booth. One in the corner near the security doors leading to the headquarters of the family. Without a word a server droid brought over his usual. He gave the droid a nod and took the glass in his hand. Taking a drink before place the glass back down and resting his head on the back rest of the booth.

The night life of Coruscant, much like the world itself, never changed. Credits swapped hands in shadowed corners of bars and nightclubs in trade for a variety of narcotics. Spirits poured from the throat of a bottle into the throat of patrons with hardly any consideration for what tomorrow would bring. Bodies pressed tightly against one another on dancefloors as the bellowing speakers guided those whose feet could not ignore the music. The adrenaline, the ecstasy of letting the night take you where it will, was just as intoxicating as the liquor and drugs could ever be. It was these moments that Aska lived for.

Strobe lights flashed above the crowd as the clone jumped in unison with those who surrounded her, a large bottle of whiskey held high above everyone’s heads as it tilted back for it’s contents to pour into the mouth of a young Pantoran woman that had been following Aska around for the evening. Could she remember the woman’s name? Absolutely not, nor did she care too. All she really cared for was the curves of her body and the tenderness of her lips when they finally made their way back to the hotel. The notoriety that had come from the execution of Durr the Hutt had gifted the now living legend her pick of late night company from near any crowd and as the hours of the chrono on her wrist continued to grow late, she knew it was nearly time to get her and her groupie back to a more private setting.

”Let’s get out of here, yea?” Aska called out to the Pantoran over the music. In return she received a devilish smirk from the blue skinned woman as she grabbed the clone’s free hand and pulled her through the crowd and out into the street. Hailing a cab proved to be difficult as lips began kissing at the nape of Aska’s neck but as the nearest speeder descended and came to a stop to retrieve them, the clones eyes moved from the groupie to the flashing sign of The Quick Draw cantina.

Her heart strings tugged for a moment as she recalled the burly merc who had once been her most recent attempt at a partner, Shane Covax. For months she would poke her head inside the cantina and order a drink with the expectation that her friend would resurface but it had never come to fruition. After he was gunned down on Nal Hutta, she’d heard nothing from him. No text messages, no transmissions, nothing. As far as she was aware, he had died from the injuries he’d suffered and it was just a fact that she had been forced to come to terms with. It hadn’t been the first time someone in her life had been torn away from her and she had grown accustomed to being on her own, but even now she couldn’t ignore the desire to see his ugly mug one more time.

Perhaps it was this exact desire playing tricks on her mind, or maybe it was the spice and the large quantities of liquor, but as she prepared to slip into the seat next to the young Pantoran, Aska froze in place. For a brief moment, she almost swore she recognized one man as he slipped past the bouncers and into the cantina. ”You son of a bitch…”

”Here, take the card key. I’ll be along shortly,”
Aska said to the Pantoran as she tossed the key to her hotel room into the woman’s lap. With a look of disbelief as she was soon also handed the bottle of whiskey, the woman turned and spoke after the merc as she began to walk towards The Quick Draw.
”What? Where are you going?” she shot back, but received no reply. Instead, Aska continued to take strides towards the Zaa Fenn hide out as she pulled her hood over her head and lit a cigarra.

Blue eyes scanned the crowd inside, Aska receiving no delays at the door. Another perk of being as notorious as she was across the galaxy, and one of Preef Callo’s Legends. Then she saw him. Just as ugly and brooding as he ever once was, sitting in the same booth he always did. Wasting no time, Aska hurried across the room and slid into the seat opposite Covax, staring into his eyes intently. There was a lot she wanted to ask the man. What had happened to him? Where had he been? Why hadn’t he reached out or answered any of her attempts of contact to let her know he was at least alive. But that’s not what slipped out.

”Well... you got fat,”

The raven haired thug looked up at the old ceiling. At first just staring off into the void of his mind. Thinking back to how far he had come, how far he had fallen from the upright soldier he used to be, a lifetime ago. The loss of his family, but also the chance encounter with the wild child that was perhaps his best friend in the entire galaxy.

The he noticed the the old dried dots of what he could only assume was high speed blood spatter. That led to the burn holes from random blaster fire, and what that someone's tooth? Covax's face grimmest then, realizing there was a reason you look down at a bar and not up.

Suddenly he felt the seat of the booth give and someone or something slide in close to him. His hand dropped to the cannon at his hip, before he looked toward the surprised guest. He smiled as the sound of her voice rank his ears before his eyes found the face of the clone.

"Almost dying, again, will do that. You look like you need a nap, for like a week."

Smirking in response to Covax’ words, the clone leaned back in her seat before nodding in the direction of the bar. The Zaa Fenn always had some of the most alert staff on payroll for the pub, they needed to be aware considering who it was who signed their cheques and operated in the back rooms of the complex, so even at a side glance as he wiped down the counter she knew that he had seen her.

”I can sleep when I’m dead. Besides, the Pykes make something for that,” the clone chuckled as she dug into her jacket pocket. As her hand returned to the tabletop, a small plastic baggy in between her fingers, she would proceed to roll it open and pour it’s contents on the surface. The contents being some of the better spice she could find in the early morning hours at the previous club she had been in.

”You know, I’ve only sent you like a dozen messages after Nal Hutta. Fuck, I was starting to think you were tossed in some swamp and left to rot,” the clone said as she pulled a knife from her belt and divided the dust into two long lines before licking the remainder from it’s edge. Setting the blade down on the table, Aska then reached across and plucked the straw from her friend’s drink. Placing the drinking utensil in between her lips, she pulled it from one side of her mouth to the other to remove any remaining droplets of liquor from it’s surface then tapped it on it’s end on the table, forcing anything from within to fall through. Finally, she put one end in her nostril and traced the other along one of the lines as she inhaled before tossing the straw back towards Covax, nodding towards the other should he wish to indulge.

”Didn’t think a message saying ‘Hey, I’ve got a few extra holes in my chest but I’m fine,’ was that hard to muster,” Aska finished with a smirk as she took a drag from her cigarra. At this time, a droid server arrived with a short glass of glowing red liquid placed down in front of the clone. Casting a glare at the mechanical server, the droid bowed it’s head towards her before moving on. ”Fuckin’ droids… What ever happened to that Twi’lek girl they had? Zaa Fenn boys scare her off too?”

He smirked in turn at his friend's own devilish grin. The banter between them was as if no time had been between them at all. The towering human finished his first drink as his clone partner gave the server droid a nod.

"Some things never change." He said with another amused grin toward the clone. He watched her reach into her pocket then and pull out a bag of some party powder. He was not stranger to how Aska liked to party, nor was he a stranger to spice. However ever after his last experience he would of rather done drops.

"Yeah, about that. After Preef got his early retirement, I tried to make a play at the Queen of the Damned. I managed to make it out alive but lost my old ship, my datapad and a couple other things." He explained sheepishly. As he watched her cut a couple of fat lines on the table and take the straw of his now dead drink. He took the straw from Aska after she finished her line and followed her shining example. The rest of the bar fell to a dull "wah wah wah" sound as his brain got suddenly vary warm. Then euphoria.

"More like, hay thanks for sucking up all the glory bitch. By the way, the tiny Sith girl is really hot and kinda pist at me." He shrugged, "But I lost your contact info with that pad." Admitting with a slight laugh. The droid would then arrive with both their drinks, and Covax quickly told the droid, "Keep'em coming."

"I haven't seen your girlfriend or any of those other merc since we took the job killing Durr"
The Enforcer commented, assumed his friend was referring to the Ali girl she also used to run with. He clinked his glass with his old friend then and took a drink. "So what the hell have you been up to, besides doing your body weight in spice?"

Sniffing back the remnants of the line, the taste dripping from her nose to the back of her throat, Aska pulled her glass from the table and washed it back as her mind buzzed from drug and drink. Nodding as he elaborated on what had transpired since Nal Hutta, the clone poured another pile of spice on the table but made no moves to divy it up quite yet. Rather, her focus remained on Covax’ words. At first, Queen of the Damned made little to no sense to the clone but then the holonet broadcast of Preef’s demise soon came calling in her memory.

”You sat down with the fucking Empress?!” Aska replied in shock. ”Are you a damn moron?! Andru-whatever, the Sith Lord? You’re lucky she didn’t turn you into an overcooked steak to feed her minions!” the clone continued as she leaned back in her seat, ashing her cigarra on the floor beside her before shrugging her shoulders. ”Maybe she let you get away, wanted you to fatten up before she stuck ya over the fire pit,” Taking a draw from the cigarra and blowing the smoke up in the air, the clone flipped her bangs from her line of view as she continued to smirk at the man across from her. ”Won’t be long now, if that’s the case,”

”Tiny, huh?”
Aska continued before taking a sip from her drink. She’d never met Andruil, nor did she want to, but she never anticipated her to be a small woman from the holonet broadcasts she had seen all those years ago. ”It’s the little ones that you gotta watch out for. They might suck a dick or they might bite it off, ya just never know. All that fire in such a little package makes em burn hotter,” she laughed. Of course, it was the crazy ones that always left someone with a story to tell.

”Left ‘em on Onderon,” Aska replied, staring into her drink. Ali, Klied, Poffo. Not a day went by that she didn’t think about those she had left behind. They weakened her, gave her something she was afraid to lose. ”Better this way…” her tone softened as she recalled the Togrutan girl’s green eyes, hoping with all her heart that life had gotten simpler for her since Aska had walked away. Pushing the memories back with a cough, Aska sat forward in her chair and started maneuvering the spice with her blade once again.

”Life as a legend is a busy one. Finding time to relax is hard these days so I take nights like these as soon as I can get ‘em,” Stopping her cutting and glancing at Covax through the hair that fell across her line of sight, she smirked at her old friend. ”Gotta stay busy so I don’t end up lookin’ like you,” she teased before inflating her cheeks, just another pot shot at his gained weight.

Covax laughed and shook his head yes as the clone clarified his statement, a look of shock frozen on her face for the moment. "You might be surprised. She appeared more willing to work than I had thought. However the ISC fucked all that up before I could even try to work a deal." He then rolled his eyes as she continued to beat him up about letting himself go a little. She wasn't fat so much as just not as toned as he was when he was working.

"It's not that I'm fat, it's that you're getting smaller and smaller. What did you do jump off a cliff again?" It was a weak retort. But it's all he had with all the spice on his mind.

"Yeah, maybe five foot, and could kill you with a thought." It was a rough guess with the robes but his experience told him he was close. Aska was right about the rest though. Calm as the Empress was during their meeting he could see the passion in her eyes. She was an apex predator just waiting for him to show his weakness.

He looked a bit stunned at Aska's next words. Covax had never met the others but Ali, Ali was like a lost little Loth-cat. Hiding under your ship ramp for shelter and suddenly loyally following your every move, no matter how many times you kick it. "Perhaps." He said simply. He did believer her though. Still, he wouldn't push the issue. The wound was still to fresh to rip the bandage, that much was clear.

"Glad you're enjoying OUR rewards, Legend." his voice a little bitter now. He wasn't so much mad a her for indeed becoming a household name, but rather the galaxy and most of all the family for forgetting it was him to took the first shot. Him to took the shit plan of the gate team and ran with it till, even after the Devaronian froze up on him and got him shot and almost dead.

"I liked it better when it was you and me. Doing what we do. Less concerned with the families and the lines on a galactic map."

Chuckling as Covax retorted to her comments, Aska continued dividing the spice she had poured out with a careful eye. Even given her current state, her hand was steady as the sharp edge pushed into a larger chunk of the narcotic. She was no stranger to performing dangerous acts when she was inebriated, this was a walk in the park. Finally splitting the powder into two long lines, the merc brought the blade to her mouth and licked the remainder from the cold steel.

”Hey, you can’t blame me for what happened to you, pal,” Aska joked as she placed the knife back on the table. ”If I had it my way, it would have been you and I in that throne room. It was Callo that decided to throw you in the shit,” Picking up the straw once again, the burn of spice flowing in her nostril to her brain soon occupied every sense of the clone before fading away into rapture.

What Covax said next struck the woman differently than anything prior. His resentful tone of what had happened on Nal Hutta, details of which were not exactly known to her, and the events that followed with the Sith Empress had clearly had a lasting impact on the man. It didn’t take a genius to figure out now why he had simply vanished like smoke. Leaning back in her seat, offering Covax a more somber look than before, Aska tossed the straw back on the table as she took another pull from her cigarra.

”We’ve gone through some serious shit in our time, that’s for sure,” she replied as she ashed her smoke, lips turning upward slightly as memories fluttered into mind. ”- but I can’t say I’ve ever worried about the Syndicate families or the war. Maybe that’s your problem. You keep working towards something outside of your own self interests,” Leaning forward and pressing the burning ember of the cigarra down into the ashtray, Aska proceeded to take a sip from her drink. ”What even made you join up with the Zaa Fenn? Protection? Because after Nal Hutta, I'd be a bit more critical on what Syndicate protection actually looks like,”

He eyed her handy work as she cut the lines. Blackout drunk or sober as a fresh faced Padawan, she was always steady on the edge. He admired that about Aska, he missed it. Not at all in a romantic was but as two friend who had seen and done things few in the galaxy would even try.

"Yeah and we should have told him to piss off." He grumbled. Take the straw from her as she finished. Only doing half his own line this time. "Mmm, but you're right. It wasn't your fault and what's done is done." His worlds a little more clam as the spice hit his brain. The warm fuzzy feeling returning for round 2. Covax sat back and rested his head on the back of the seat again. Letting the feeling take him.

Aska's question of why he joined up pulled him for the fog of euphoria for a moment. "You had your crew, much as you tried they really welcomed me into that little outfit of theirs. When Callo offered me a spot it sounded good. That hairy man ape and that other merc woman seemed to be pleased with how he was running things. So I thought, fuck it. Why not." He finished the line then, and chased it with a log drink from his glass. The blissful fog quickly returning. "But now there's no Callo, and the patients are running the asylum. There's nothing family about it." He finished the glass then, and waved it's empty void at the droid not far away. "You've pulled a job or two after Durr, what's your take?"

As Covax put the question forth, Aska’s eyes fell to the cup firmly grasped between her fingers tips. Slowly the cup was moved in a circle causing the remaining cubes of ice within to clatter against one another. Her take on Zaa Fenn… Jobs had come and gone since the clone had joined in with Preef Callo’s plan, but they were few and far between. There was absolutely no denying that without Preef’s guidance, the Zaa Fenn was a shadow of it’s former self. Covax described it perfectly, the patients were running this asylum.

”My take,” the clone responded, eyes flicking upward from the glass. The spice had done an excellent job of allowing both Covax and herself to let loose, but it soon occurred to the woman that perhaps this wasn’t the greatest place for such a discussion to occur. Quick Draw Cantina was owned by the Zaa Fenn after all and both Covax and Aska knew only too well that it was little more than a front to some of the greatest slicers in the galaxy. For all they knew, every word had already been honed in on and picked apart from the ambient sounds of the other clientele. ”- is not up for discussion… at the moment,”

Maybe it was just the spice paranoia kicking in but as the clone brought the glass to her mouth, blue eyes met the yellows’ of a nearby Trandoshan bouncer. Slowly his scaly lips curled back to reveal the rows of razor sharp teeth partnered by a soft hiss though she could not hear it from her seat in the booth. Her attention lingered on the man for a few seconds longer before diverting back to her old friend.

”So does you resurfacing from your grave mean you’re stepping out of retirement? Or do you just plan on wallowing on Zaa Fenn’s doorstep every night?” Aska chuckled, her eyes darting back and forth from the giant reptile across the room back to Covax, concern gripping her that perhaps they had already said too much.

Covax finished his drink just as Aska finally cleared her eyes from her own haze, or so he thought. Something had got her attention and never one to take a hint, Covax turned to see what the fuck it was. He didn't think she was into lizards but this one sure had her attentions.

From what the towering human could tell, the Trandoshan was trying to explain something to a Wookie not much taller than Covax. So likely a teen with a fake ID, so likely the lizard man was doing his job. Returning his attention to his sister from another mister, "That's Zeb.....something. I could introduce you if you want ? But I like you liked the ladies?"

Turning the tables as she was quick to do she asked about his plans. Suddenly having the same insecurity about their location, Covax made a suggestion. "How bout we take this conversation elsewhere? I have plenty of booze back on my ship?"
