Luci hadn't expected Boy to join her. She smiled nonetheless and ran her fingertips across the mastiff's dome as she looked over to Knight Akatosh and gave him a grateful bow of the head. 'Thank you...' She replied with her own Telepathic message to him (@Faen Akatosh). That, combined with the input from Zak, and Luci was suddenly fueled with the confidence she needed to begin her own contribution to everyone's points with a level head.

"The smoker has a good point." She of course meant no disrespect to the man who respectfully kept his distance from the group (@Tazlen Axil). "A beefier Resistance would be good for our ability to defend not just our own worlds, but any who come under attack from Kilik, Sith, or any other thing that comes our way." It was clear she wouldn't be able to propose Xucas's idea of having the Jedi just sit back and trusting the Empire to behave. That notion didn't seem like it even had a chance here, as much as she wanted that to be possible.

"But with great power comes great responsibility. We need to be more strategic about how we use the Resistance, and stop the rest of the Galaxy from painting us as terrorists and rebel scum by misusing our power." The anxiety she'd felt was slowly fading away as she continued. "You all raise good points. Reestablish our ties with the Republic, get back into the senate, get access back to the Core, improve the Resistance, prove to the Galaxy we're still worthy of being their guardians..." She took a deep breath.

"The Sith have been diplomatic. They've abolished slavery in their territory. And according to the HoloNet, they're better at killing Kiliks than us too, which is what the Galaxy is focused on right now. The Empire has been proving to everyone that they're capable of actually doing some good in this Galaxy. The public image they've gained, despite destroying planets, is that they aren't the bad guys anymore." She paused. "We are." She put up her hand to note she wasn't done but was letting her claim sink in. "At least that's what things have begun to seem like in the eyes of most. Obviously the Kiliks are right now, but as soon as they're dealt with I'm pretty sure we can all agree there's going to be tension between Sith and Jedi again."

"All these valid points you've all raised stem from one particularly key issue we've had for awhile now... PR. Most people only learn about what's happening through the HoloNet or tabloids, and we've had very little presence when it comes to PR. Public opinions have been turned against us, while we do nothing to defend our galactic image. We could easily address this with something like our own dedicated News outlet." A shake of the head followed, feeling a bit silly with claiming they needed to start their own media campaign to address the Council's more serious concerns. "The Jedi and Resistance need to show everyone that we're still the good guys."

Syl had once read a story in the fanfic section of the Archives about a legendary being called the Zen, or maybe it had achieved zen? Who knows, what mattered was the being was supposed to be centuries old, yet retained a youthful appearance, and spoke with the wisdom of his age, which scared everyone around him. And he was scared of zucchini for some reason. When the tiefling girl, who she had assumed was just a youngling someone had brought along, started speaking with a maturity that did not match her appearance Syl was immediately reminded of the Zen, as odd as the thought was.

Either way, she did make some good points, along with some that Syl did not agree with. "It brings up an important issue, doesn't it?" She spoke up, pushing away the random images of an army of zucchini monsters chasing a would be Jedi, and addressed Councilor Zak. "There are many here who might not feel comfortable taking on the role of warriors, but that is what some of us must become. That is what the Galaxy needs. Not a militarized Order, but Jedi who are willing to fight. The resistance," she nodded at Tazlen in acknowledgement of his earlier comments, "has give some of us that opportunity to be the Jedi we believe the Galaxy needs. It allows some Jedi to stay true to what we were, while letting the rest of us show the Galaxy that the Sith, or anyone else who might encroach on their freedoms, will be opposed."

She didn't speak about the padawans proposal regarding PR and having a dedicated Jedi new outlet, that was for others to decide. She did not support the idea, but if the Council was for it then so be it. That was their fight, the resistance would lead her to hers.

At all the talk about how Padawans should avoid the Sith, Quin shifted on his feet. He’d told Master Mirror about them, asked her the exact question about how he should approach them, but her answer had been… a little less direct. However, despite his mixed experiences with the darksiders, surely the higher-ups knew better. Who knows when a Sith might snap? But he felt like he was trying to convince himself.

He would stay quiet for the most part, listening to the ideas the others were sharing instead. Lucifrey brought up something about PR that sounded quite a bit like what his parents might have suggested if they were here. He felt inclined to agree with most of what she said, but in a slightly different way. Another woman spoke about the resistance, and that he found himself nodding along to. Silently clearing his throat, Quin worked up the courage to say something.

“If I may,” he said, quickly looking around at the others to make sure no one else was about to speak before he went on, “I agree with what Master…” He glanced at the woman who’d just spoken, realized that he didn’t know her name, and his face turned slightly red when he went on. “What she said.” He took a breath before continuing.

“I think helping the resistance is key. It shows the galaxy that we’re providing aid to people, both humanitarian and military. If we rely too much on one or the other, it doesn’t make us look like dependable allies— we’d either be pushovers or conquerors. A balance of the two would help our image, is my opinion. Have some of us focus on military defense, and others with diplomacy and providing relief to planets that need it. We might not even need our own news outlet.”

It seemed another Knight had an idea as well. To build off the Resistance, and establish as a whole hearted, full force to be used with Jedi need. On paper, this was a grand idea. The Resistance's initial purpose was to be exactly what everyone is saying it should be. It had promise to be another army fighting alongside the Jedi, but in the showings of Resistance presence, Fynn took note of their actions. Most of which came off as terrorist attacks. Assassinations on leading individuals.. it wasn't anything Jedi should be associated with.

"The Resistance had a chance to prove as a valuable Jedi asset and failed with it began running assassinations and attacks on planets who diplomatically joined sides with the Sith..."

Fynn wanted to be in agreeance but somethings aren't seen eye to eye. He was militant enough to want an army, but smart enough to know an Army doesn't always help.

"Look... if, and I mean IF, we can get the Resistance turned around it will take more than just myself and Master Zakrym. It is going to take the actions of ALL of you.. Which means if I were to go back to the office after this, and make a game plan to push out missions to the lot of you they will need to get done. Otherwise the Resistance may need to be cut from Jedi ties completely. I do not wish to dismiss your ideas, they are in good heart and sound. There is a lot more to a political spectrum when dealing with individuals like Xerxes and Aezz and Thorne. Nevertheless I thank you all for the input with the Resistance, I will take this to Grandmaster Voran myself and inform her of how the Order as a collective feel about it."

As he finished speaking, he would pull out a datapad and began typing in the notes of what he would bring to the council meeting. This was his way of doing his duty as both a leader of Jedi and a follower of them as well. If you do not speak with your peers and lower then how can you call yourself a true leader?

"Now.. as far as things needed within the Order.. I know we also have a few Corps to the Jedi. Diplomatic, Seers, Arbitration. Master Zakrym here has been wanting to bring in another core asset being the Agricultural Corp. It would need leaders to run a proper farm and garden making food to bring to any refugees or others that are in need after events like the killiks or Kashyyyk."

In this moment he figured Zakrym would take over and begin explaining it further. Nothing for this was set in stone, this was intended to get the main body of the Jedi to understand and see how well supported it would be. This was essentially trials for when it was presented to the Grandmaster the following day. Given how much these Jedi have been looking to help bring in good ideas, he was sure they weren't opposed as it holds a lot more political weight than some expect. It could also teach some of the hasty and anxious teens in the Order a little patience and discipline. Not to mention those training in their abilities in plant surge it could give time training in that.

The Sephi would stand to the side as Zakrym took the stand. He would listen as well as the others. Fynn was interested in this idea just as much as anything else on their agenda.

The smoker. ‘I agree with Master…’ when padawans should know all the Jedi Masters. Tazlen couldn’t help but shake his head. No one here really knew one another. No one had any true sense of loyalty. It was a group of randomly assorted Jedi all with their own goals and agendas. It was depressing to see, but perhaps this was the beginning of the turn for the better. Tazlen looked towards Councilor Tarrell when he spoke. He quietly scoffed to himself, “With all due respect, Councilor, the Resistance ran unchecked without any leadership while the council and even the Grandmaster herself turned a blind eye,” He stated flatly, unafraid to speak the truth, “Even then, the Resistance will be made up of mercenaries and volunteers, most of whom have lost entire families to the Sith. It’s that passion and purpose that drives them. They will not abide by the Jedi code or act like Jedi because they are not Jedi and it’s unrealistic to ever expect that. They are everyday men and women wanting to fight for a cause. They can be tempered, but they will prioritize killing the enemy over attempting to befriend them or bring them to the light. If we can’t accept that, then yes, the Jedi needs to detach itself from it entirely and make a public statement doing so…which honestly is a terrible idea.”

He blew out another cloud of smoke before finally putting out the cigarra, “Let’s also not forget the Shadows. There is hardly any worthwhile intelligence coming in and from my understanding, anyone that is a shadow either falls to the dark side, goes missing or is just plain terrible at their job. What have we done to rectify this? Shouldn’t our intelligence branch be prioritized and bolstered above agriculture and goodwill efforts to allow us to be one step ahead of our enemies or current whispers across the galaxy every time? Shouldn’t we prioritize training on how to defeat Killik and how to avoid being Joined or how to tell when someone is Joined? Entire planets can be enslaved to these bugs and we need to be ahead of it. Showcasing how we can do a lot of goodwill is great, but war is at the forefront right now whether we like it or not."

The topic had moved onto farming efforts, and he wouldn’t speak further on that. It was a topic that mostly bored him. Tazlen’s gaze flicked over to the padawan (@AdventCore )from earlier who he addressed loudly so everyone else could hear, “Tazlen, by the way,” He gave her a wink before turning to leave. No way in hell was he going to stand around and listen to a sermon about farming and gardening.

Syl listened to the Councilor's words, and after Tazlen spoke up, she waited for a few moments to gather her thoughts. Fortunately she didn't need a great deal of time, and finally spoke up.

"The Resistance," she said, "is no different from the Order. Assassinations concern you, but to the people of the Galaxy the actions of the Jedi on Kashyyyk were just as concerning. Yet we expect them to not turn their backs on us, to excuse that as the actions of a few. So how is it fair to not give the resistance that same concession?" She unfolded her legs and stepped off the crate before continuing. "If the Council is set to make a decision on the resistance then I'm sure it will reach my ears. Till then we will continue doing what we must, as best as we can with the limited resources at the resistance's disposal." She gave the Councilors a bow and started walking after Tazlen, but paused after a few steps.

"Just remember," she said, looking back at them over her shoulder, "the Resistance wasn't born out of Jedi support, and it will exist with or without that support. But if we cut them out, turn our backs on them, then to them we are no different than the Sith. We have a chance to show them who we are, and we might never get another chance."

With that she left, following after Tazlen.

Zak listened silently to both Fynn and Tazlen. He had known this meeting would have opposing voices and opinions, that was fine. Zak hadn’t come expecting everyone to agree but he had come expecting them to listen and discuss. His eyes narrowed slightly as Tazlen went to leave.

Knight Tazlen, I agree that all of these things are important. No one here has suggested that we should not be opposing the Dark Side. No one here has suggested we don’t need military alliances. But how do you think these things are built and maintained?” He asked calmly. “One or two instances of goodwill is not enough to warrant continued support or loyalty. We must be able to provide something to them beyond protection.” Zak explained. “I agree that the Resistance can be tempered. They can be transformed into a fighting force that the Galaxy can rally behind. But right now, they aren’t.” He continued. “Right now they are people who are hurt and filled with rage and hate. Everyone of us knows where utilizing those emotions as motivation will lead.” He stated. “Fear leads to hate, hate leads to suffering, and suffering leads only to those good people becoming reflections of the monsters that robbed them of their worlds and families.” He warned. “And you are right, there has been no oversight. This Order let them run amok, we emboldened these people but didn’t teach them, we didn’t help them heal before turning them on the Empire.” Zak stated as a simple confession. “And that was all of our faults, including my own. But that doesn’t mean we can’t change and help them to change.” He continued. “Rey founded our order on the belief that redemption should be offered to everyone, that there is always hope.” He explained, his head turning away from Tazlen as the man left and to the rest of the Jedi assembled. “If we fight a war simply for vengeance, we will become precisely what we are facing down.” He stated evenly.

Zak would readjust himself to face the rest of the gathered Jedi. He watched and listened as Master Syl began to take her leave as well. This meeting was going horrendously but one thing became abundantly clear, many of the Jedi held closer bonds to the Resistance than they did the Order.

While I appreciate the offer to bring up my own projects. I think Knight Tazlen was correct, we do need to redouble our focus on the Killiks right now.” He explained. “I intend to leave from Yavin and return to Thyferra shortly, the denizens of the world could use aid, our aid, in rebuilding their homes.” He continued. “I believe aiding them would be a good first step forward into building ties with the ISC.” He explained. “If you have questions, feel free to ask them.” He stated before stepping back alongside Fynn.

Zathria continued to listen to the debate as things quickly took off. There were numerous differing viewpoints and Zathria weighed each side. The reality was that they were fighting a war, and that by definition violated some of the things that Jedi held most sacred.

If we go into a deeper alliance with the Resistance with the assumption that they will change we're going to be left hanging, she said.

They are not Jedi and we cannot expect them to act like Jedi. We have to try to look at things from their eyes: kill one high ranking Imperial or a thousand random soldiers on the battlefield? I imagine the choice is quite simple for them, she said. She was intentionally walking a very fine line between supporting assassination and not. But she'd seen this war from a different perspective than most. She'd cared for wounded Resistance and Imperial soldiers alike. She'd nursed both back to health and she'd talked to both and heard their stories and justifications.

If we ally with them further, we need to do it with our eyes wide open. We can try to improve or change things, but if failure in that area is a dealbreaker then we can't take that first step, she said. And the truth was... they needed to take that first step. If the fight against the Empire had any chance at all, they needed more than the handful of directionless Jedi that they had currently.

"Assassinations are one thing... Taking less lives is usually the logical decision... But blowing up innocent women and children? How far are you all willing to go before you're fighting fire with fire and glassing their own worlds right back at them? How far before you've drained our allies' planets of their own resources to build Death Stars and Starkillers to purge them? I don't know as much about politics as I'd like, but won't the New Republic, ISC, and eventually even the FWA turn against all of us at some point down this path? Would you fight all of them too?" Luci's hand was clutched to her chest, her heart pounding and resonating with a deep desire to reach through to her fellow Jedi, especially those that were attempting to leave this crucial call to action.

"When there's a problem we fix it! Would you really just walk away?!" She took a step forward, a fiery hot red building in her cheeks. "I fought side by side with the Resistance on Nixor! I know first hand how important they are and how much good we can do with them!" Her heated message that had shot across the gathering gradually cooled off, her expression became one that showed she deeply cared for what was happening here.

"But... Just please don't fall while you're out there losing yourselves... Remember who you are deep down. Please don't become that which you seek to destroy... Even if the Galaxy is better off without them..." Her words might not sway them now, but she hoped they would at least remember them when they were out there on the front lines, pushing themselves to the edge.

He stopped in his tracks when he realized his words were akin to tossing a grenade into a room and turning to leave.

Fuck.

Tazlen sighed and turned to face the others again, wondering if it was time to break out another cigarra. He looked at Councilor La (@Apollyon ) first, quirking a brow, “Well good thing you agree with everything I just said then,” Tazlen said as he crossed his arms over his chest again. His entire point had been that the Resistance failed because it had no real oversight. If it had that, then obviously it could potentially be steered in a better direction.

Tazlen next turned towards the padawan (@AdventCore ) that piped up. First the spiel about working with Sith and now this. He was beginning to grow suspicious, “Tell me, kid, do you have a Sith best friend we don’t know about?” Tazlen asked point blank, “Because unless you live under a rock, which I don’t blame you - we do have that rep sometimes - anyone here can tell you that the Resistance has never bombed any women or children. If you’re referring to Dromund Kaas, that was Onderon’s special forces and a strike orchestrated by the Alliance. Even then, word has it that there were no children or civilians as it was an instructor training day that day. You’re going to drink that Sith media koolaid? I suggest you get your damn facts straight before you come up with any other bright ideas like Jedi PR and media. Force knows you’d have us advertised as the heroes that liberated Wookiees by strapping them outside of ships.”

He turned to regard the two Councilors (@Scoobert @Apollyon ), “I’m a firm believer of ‘if you want it done right, do it yourself’. So if assistance with reining in the Resistance is needed, consider this me throwing my name into the hat,” Tazlen was probably going to regret saying this, but he trusted himself to fix this more than he did most of these dumplings around him.

Paladin Grimm didn't usually show up to these sorts of meetings. It wasn't that he didn't care, just that it wasn't precisely his place. While a Jedi Master in his own right, Reinhart was first and foremost a Paladin of the Adamite Tower and previously had little context, and thus input, on Jedi internal affairs. Who was he to speak of galactic politics or 'Pee-arr' when it wasn't long since he'd left behind his isolated homeworld in the Unknown Regions?

Today he felt differently. Now they were speaking of war. Or so he'd assumed at the start. Now they were somewhere between arguing about the 'resistance' and farming, of all things. Reinhart's armor softly shuffled as he moved forward from the group's outskirts, the humble badge of a Justicar prominent on his belt. He was straight-backed and dignified, expression steady and stern. Dark brown eyes moved patiently from person to person as they gave their opinion on the situation.

"Do not speak of planting seeds while those very fields are burning," he spoke, voice even and steady, well-projected with the practiced boom of a military man. "Politics and agriculture are not today's concern but tomorrow's." He shook his head slightly, a slight motion amidst his relative stillness. "The Resistance is not the Jedi and cannot be held to Jedi ideals. They are angry revolutionaries built up by this Order. Should the Order abandon them, that does not absolve the Order of responsibility for what they do afterward. I am deeply disappointed to hear that suggestion."

He didn't name anyone directly, but he also wasn't pulling his punches even if it was obvious he also meant a Jedi Councilor. Reinhart observed the other Jedi gathered about, folk from all walks of life with vastly differing opinions that still yet had one thing in common. "Jedi are meant to be scholars, healers, diplomats, farmers, smiths, and builders. And yet, every Jedi is also a warrior. Ordinary scholars do not carry the weight and responsibility of a sword. Ordinary diplomats and healers do not fight and give their lives going face to face with those who bring with them the horror and desolation of war."

Neither Max Tionson nor Hannibal Grayza specialized as warriors, a diplomat and healer respectively. Yet fight they did until they could fight no longer, wielding blades of fire in defense of others. "Focus now on saving the fields that burn. Aid those in need, train to fight threats, guide those angry souls that their peace might be achieved rather than birthing new tyrants and petty torturers." His eyebrows dropped just a little, stern and sharp.

"Be you unwilling to draw your swords when called, to wield a thing of death in defense of life when you must? Then beat your swords down to plowshares, for you are unworthy to carry them." Paladin Grimm took a single step back; he had spoken.

Tazlen dropped a metaphorical mic bomb when he attempted to throw jabs at the Councilors and then leave, and seemed Master Sylphrena shared the same ideologies cause she was just about to leave too. When did Jedi lose their patience and willingness to communicate? Such strong key skills as a Jedi to have, and yet it seemed the Order's current roster has lost that. Fynn had stood leaned against the wall behind him letting Zak try to handle the situation. When Lucifrey had spoke up, it seemed a little concerning, but with how Tazlen had responded it was likely just Annfyn blood doing it's thing.

"Comrades.. if I may?.. "

After giving them a second to take a breath and let their jaws relax from their bickering about the Resistance's uses, Fynn took a couple steps forward and wiped his brow with a deep breath. Then looking to Knights Tazlen, Zathria, and Master Sylphrena.

"I am granting you the opportunity to do with the Resistance what you will. You have given your points that they are useful. I ask one thing of you though. Lead them by example, and show them that they can be above savage murder as well. I am not one to condone killing but I would be a hypocrite if I said I hadn't killed a Sith before.."

Fynn would unclip the hilt of Zeel's lightsaber and take a breath as he would ignite the red blade in front of the Jedi. Letting everyone see the blade he figured some had fought the Sith but unknown if any had killed one before. The Sephi then disengaged the blade and hooked it back on his belt whilst speaking once again,

"It is a heavy burden. I am not proud that I had to kill to stop them, but in desperate times I agree that neutralization of a threat will sometimes means killing. I do not wish us to become murderers and assassins. So lead carefully within the Resistance. Try to turn them around. I feel as a leader I should build trust with my fellow Jedi, so I am trusting you with this task. This is the three of you and any others who wish to volunteer to fight with the Resistance. I trust you all know right from wrong, so please do with that what you will."

His eyes kept on them for a moment. He felt almost betrayed by those he wanted to trust and if it meant giving a slight bit of lead way here to build a trust to their leaders then he would make that decision and take the fall for his actions. It would go without say Zak would have a few choice words for Fynn after the meeting, perhaps even the Grandmaster. His ears slightly lowering as he he felt the internal conflict within himself.

Then looking away from them to let them decide if they stay or go, he would see Maura's bright and youthful face. The rainbow hair almost a bit of comical relief. The Sephi felt warmth enter within again. The youth of the Jedi really were something special. Preparing for the topic to continue with the Sith and suc he would look to her as he has heard from Tazlen, Zathria, Sylphrena, Lucifrey. He hadn't heard much from the young sprout.

"Padawan Maura Starwalk.. what do you think on the matter? How shall we go about the dealings with the Sith?"

Zak's eyes narrowed as he shot a heated glance at his Padawan. He knew where Luci had these thoughts be put into her head, she had been talking to that Sith. However, it was a gaze that quickly softened as, through the strong bond that had been built between them, her anxiety building to a crescendo. He allowed a frustrated sigh to escape his lips more at Master Grimm's words than Tazlen's jabs.

"I do not understand your point Master Grimm," Zak stated in an annoyed voice. "No one here has shied away from fighting threats against the Galaxy. I have fought the Killiks on Thyferra. I was willing to pay the price to protect the President of the ISC from the Killik Queen. I only recently finished my recovery from those injuries." He continued. "Your implication of being unwilling to or afraid of standing against the darkness and evil of the Galaxy isn't something that will be tolerated here. Even the youngest amongst us has stood against the Sith on Onderon." Zak stated as he gestured towards Maura. "What is being stated is that only providing the Galaxy with an opposition to the Sith has left us with no allies and no friends." He explained. "We must provide services in addition to standing against the Sith, their Empire, and their pawns. This doesn't mean those that aid in farming or healing will not participate in military actions. It just means that those who choose these paths will be expected to carry both burdens." He stated. "The Path of a Jedi isn't single fold, it never has been and it never will be. We are expected to be examples in all aspects of our lives and we should try provide more than just battlefield leadership." Zak explained. "People of the galaxy starve from wartime shortages. Denizens are wounded from being caught in the crossfire of conflicts." He continued. "A trillion lives could be saved by providing those people with the care and food they need as easily as it could be by claiming victory in battle. Is there a difference between the methods used?" Zak asked Master Grimm more directly. "Are you claiming that a Jedi who chooses to carry one of these burdens is somehow a coward or unworthy because of it?"

"Thank you! I like your horns!" Maura whispered excitedly back to @Lucifrey Sol. "I wish I had horns. They're so cool." She seemed completely oblivious to the tiefling's shy demeanor as she was much more concerned with her cool appearance.

The other padawan was pretty much the last thing Maura paid attention to for a while. She did her best, to her credit, but eventually the girl's attentive, perked-up ears relaxed back, and her eyes glazed over. Dogmatic, zealous beliefs? Reestablishing ties? Enroaching on freedoms? Resistance this, resistance that? Nah, her mind tapped out of that quicker than a runyip in a stampede.

"I wonder when they will release new levels?" Maura wondered in regards to one of several games on the datapad in her pocket. The padwan clasped both of her hands together in front of her, fighting the urge to slip the device out of her pocket and start tap-tapping away. "What would I look like with horns?" Her black eyes floated back over to Lucifrey as the tiefling spoke, but she wasn't hearing anything the girl was saying. Instead, she was imagining herself with a pair of awesome blue-black horns. "I would have extra effective headbutts if I did!" Man, why couldn't she have horns?

Then someone addressed her specifically, and Maura snapped out of her daydreaming without any clue about what was being asked of her.

"Uhh..." Then Master Tarrell completed his sentence and Maura had two bits more context than she had before. Which was just two bits anyway. "I think we should..."

How should they go about dealing with the Sith? Maura had no idea how to respond to stuff like that. She'd only ever spoken with a Sith once, and he hadn't exactly left the best impression. He didn't seem evil, but he definitely didn't seem good either. She didn't think he was worthy of death (even though he'd tried to kill here), but he'd joined up with the Sith even though his entire homeworld had been destroyed by them. "How could someone do that?"

"I think maybe we should just help people," she finally answered. "People don't seem to like us 'cause of the Sith, even tho they've like, blown up whole planets!" An exaggeration maybe, but her point was there. "They don't like us so much that Firrereoes join the Sith even though they killed the whole planet!" She absolutely butchered the species' name. "Master Voran told me that being a Jedi is more than just the Force and fighting. If we fight the Sith all the time, we can't help people as much, and I think helping people is more important."

Maura grew silent while Master La spoke. She hoped her answer was in lieu with what Master Tarrell had asked because she had definitely not been paying attention before any of this. Her chest did puff out a bit when the other councilor gestured toward her in regards to Onderon.

"I think that our purpose isn't to fight the Sith. I mean, we do fight the Sith, but I dunno if the Jedi were founded to fight the Sith. I think that when people think of Jedi they shouldn't think about the Sith too. They should just... think of helpers. People who will come to help whenever, not just when the Sith show up."

She got a bit off topic, but whatever. Maura liked helping people, and she hated when people didn't want help because she was a Jedi.

For a time, he is silent, listening to the words that spat tension into the humid atmosphere. Dark eyes are unblinking and cool, as the Nautolan rests within a sitting position nearby. To those who were to look at him, he would appear relaxed, like a gentle wave lapping upon the warm sands of a pearly beach. But as emotions heighten, and buzz through the air like electricity, it seemed that even the Consular was drawn from his meditation.

"We have forgotten." Quiet words. Kaal doesn't care to be heard above the crowd. If others chose to talk over him, then so be it. "We have forgotten who we are." Maura's words were exactly what Kaal was seeking. Being a Jedi was not about being a soldier. The purpose of a Jedi was not to purge it's enemies. "While we bicker over the sponsorship of extremists, people are starving. People are wounded. People are homeless. They have no hope." Just as Zakrym had been so dutiful to point out, there were many more aspects to being a Jedi than combat. To believe that combat was the only path... a path of violence. That was a road to the dark side.

"And that is what we are." The Nautolan reminds gently. He does not raise his voice, though his eyes sweep through the crowd. "We are hope. At least, that is what we should be. We are the light that glows with warmth on cold nights, providing blankets and shelter. We are the fullness of desperate bellies, when war destroys supplies and homes. We are the gentle, and guiding hand upon the backs of those who are lost, and the shoulder to cry on for those who feel forgotten. That is our purpose." Kaal offers a small smile of encouragement toward Maura.

"Sometimes, we must fight. We defend the weak, and the helpless, and the defenseless. We do not cause terror in the governments that we do not agree with, nor do we sponsor such things. We do not sow seeds of discord, nor do we seek to cause death or suffering upon those we would consider evil." Redemption had already been brought up, and Fynn had commented that, while killing was occasionally necessary, it was not an easy burden to bear, nor was it something that should be purposefully sought or taken lightly.

"Our purpose is to understand. Our existence is to offer hope. Let us not forget who we are. Let us not allow the Sith to take our light away from us." He inclines his head toward the councilors in agreement with their suggestions. "Agricorps sounds like a wonderful first step. Let us heal the wounds of this galaxy as we are meant to."

Having stopped as well on seeing Tazlen stop to respond to the padawan's claims, Syl listened patiently as one voice after another rose to speak, saying much but little at the same time.

"I have spent nights in a cold bunker," she finally spoke up after one speech too many, "with nothing but the clothes on my back to keep me warm. I assure you there was light in my heart, I was as committed to the Light that night as I am today. But it didn't keep me from almost freezing to death, neither me, nor the men and women who were fighting at my side." She let out a long sigh, releasing some of her exasperation with the breath and trying to calm herself once more. "I am sure the Galaxy would love to have us be symbols of hope, but what good is a hollow symbol that can't help them in ways that really matter."

"We need allies," she continued after a moment, "we need endorsements, we need funds. We need all that so that we can actually do something about the mess the Galaxy is in. Putting blankets on their backs, food in their bellies, we need funds to accomplish any of that. And we need it now, not some day in the future when we have found ourselves. And the resistance...the resistance is no different. The resistance needs our help, not our leadership, not our guidance, and most definitely not our permission."

She sat in mediation. The Force sprawling out around her. Answers whispering just beyond the edges of her vision. If only she could reach out and grasp them. Each time she turned for a clearer look, those answer seemed to float away. Frustration bubbled at the edges of her mind. Her own? No…another source. Alex retreated from the embrace of the Light. Standing slowly to move towards her balcony overlooking Yavin. Her eyes sought the bubbling of emotions. A growing number of Jedi were arrayed near the Temple steps. A number of familiar presences mingling together. She cocked her head. The Force suddenly slowing through her to push the strength of her senses. She saw Fynn and Zak holding court. The sounds of the conversation reaching her ears.

Alex folded her arms. Well…she had asked them to relieve some of the burden. The Morellian Jedi was uncertain this was what she had in mind. The disagreements among the Order were known and clear. They should not…could not…be ignored. But in the end, they all shared the same goal. She shook her head. This was not what she wanted. The Order tearing itself apart. Taking a deep steadying breath, she walked quickly to the lift.

She walked out of the Temple doors to look upon the assembled Jedi. “No Jedi is perfect.” Her voice carried clearly from the steps. “Me least of all.” Alex’s face remained perfectly composed. “I took a life from these very steps to defend our family. The first life I ever took…” Her gaze swept the crowd. “We are not the Empire…led by a single figure who’s will is unquestioned. Our Order survives because we are different. Each of us in our own way.” Slowly, she shook her head. “There are no perfect answers and disagreement is critical to evaluating our path…but we must do so respectfully.” Alex folded her arms across her chest. “We are all Jedi. We want what is best for the galaxy and our Order. We may not agree on the path, but I expect each of you to treat the others with equal respect. The respect you all deserve.” She would not have the Order pulled apart by bickering while they lost sight of the real goal.

“The Sith are not our allies. They are not our friends. No Jedi should treat them as such...the consequences for such foolishness remain the same. The Darkness corrupts absolutely and without question. They are, and always will be, agents of death.” Again, her eyes swept the crowd. “The Killik threat may force our hands and a ceasefire may come to pass but the war will resume. It is not over until the Empire crumbles.” She took a small step forward. “The Rebellion was a beast we allowed to be created and evolved into what we call the Resistance. A beast of which we have lost control.” She took a deep breath. “The path forward is uncertain, and we will not all agree on how to walk it but we must travel together as one or see our Order splintered.” She would die before we saw that happen.

It did not take long for the so-called peaceful discussion to descend into bickering. Edaara stayed quiet after initially introducing herself, growing sadder and sadder as the Jedi spoke and argued. She knew when coming to this meeting that it wouldn't be likely she would speak as much as the others did, if at all; she believed actions spoke louder than words. Most people here talked a big game, but she didn't know what they were like in a battle or diplomatic situation, when it really counted.

She was grateful when Grandmaster Voran walked out of the temple and stood behind the gathering. The crowd turned toward her when she started to speak. Edaara found herself nodding at Alex's words, and after a moment of silence after she finished speaking, Edaara opened her own mouth to speak for the first time. "Unity is the most important thing. If we let our uniqueness divide us, we lose our greatest strength and let down the galaxy. The Empire is sowing division among us. We must not let them succeed, and do what is right not only for the Order, but for the galaxy."

Sarella allowed a simple breath to flow through her nostrils - silently musing over everything that was being said by her colleagues. As ever, the Consular didn’t leap at the opportunity to add her voice to the choir - patiently allowing the others to make their arguments and air their grievances. There was no lack of disagreement amongst them, and it left no mystery as to why the Order had struggled to find a cohesive direction prior to this point. And it remained to be seen whether or not this impromptu gathering would end with the status quo of indecision.

A moment ticked by, and Sarella finally leaned forth - cerulean eyes flicking across the table to those gathered. “We are symbols of hope, Knight Ursoc,” Her gaze settled upon Kaal, appraising the Nautolan for a moment before she continued - melodic voice echoing through the chamber. “That is what our Order has always strived to be.” Her fingers tapped against the table, voice growing a bit firmer. “But does not mean we cannot afford to merely cling to our ideals and aspirations while the Galaxy burns down around us.”

Her gaze flicked onto Zakrym, “The contributions of the Agricorps and efforts like it will always have a place within our Order - no one here attempted to discredit it. But this is a matter of priorities - and we cannot simply rely upon Humanitarian aid and acts of good to see us through a war we have been fighting for years. More importantly, we simply don't have the resources to burn. We have been alienated by most of the Galaxy - banned from the Republic - and what support we have from the Free Worlds Alliance has been progressively wilted down and decentralized.”

“Above all else, we need allies in this conflict. Funding. Equipment. Ships. Individuals loyal to the cause.”
She knitted her hands together on the table, exhaling through her nostrils. “That is what we need. That is what the Resistance - above every other avenue - can provide.”

Sarella’s pale gaze promptly flicked over to Fynn - her expression calm and measured as if carved from marble. “The Resistance will persist - and should persist - regardless of whether we approve of their methods. The men and women who serve under its banner are committed to fighting against the Empire - our common enemy. And they are not interested in whatever ‘guidance’ we have to offer. To put it plainly, the Resistance has never been our beast to control.” She said smoothly, her gaze lingering on the Sephi councilor.

“Attempting to enforce our own staunch ideals and standards upon others is precisely the type of behavior that will only alienate us further.” Her voice cut with a frigid edge that was unmistakable.

Sarella leaned back every-so-slightly from the table, posture straight against the back of her seat. “There are no easy choices ahead of us. But they are necessary if we are to survive this war and succeed against the Empire. The Resistance, is necessary."

Zak stepped backwards and to the side as Grandmaster Alexandria Voran, he listened to her in silence. She was right, the discussion here has devolved into arguments of philosophy or resource management and everything between. He was not immune to the frustration this escalation had caused and it had clouded his judgements. He took a moment to reflect upon that, acknowledging how he felt, and then simply letting it go. To find harmony with his fellow Jedi he had to put aside what he personally wanted or thought was the best route forward and be willing to compromise. This is what the Force had asked of him, and it would be what he did.

He would remain silent as both knights Edaara and Sarella spoke their peace. They were right, it was something he had already stated but right now wasn’t time for projects such as the Agricorps. Tangible aid was needed for the worlds under attack by the Killiks and reconstruction was needed for those that survived. The Order did need Allies and it did need an extensive network to operate from, both were things found in the Resistance.

With that said, there were still issues that had to be addressed. While the Jedi couldn’t expect them to conduct themselves at their level, there still had to be minimal standards met of some sort to maintain affiliation. Individual cells that wanted to maintain support had to tow a certain line, they couldn’t be utilizing the tactics of the Rebellion, terrorist attacks and execution of pows would not be tolerated. Zak made to speak on this when his eyes fell back to Master Reinhardt Grimm, the man he had vented some of his frustrations out upon.

Before I speak on topic again,” Zak began, his eyes focused on the Paladin. “Master Grimm, I took my frustrations out upon you. I do not believe your intent was to diminish Jedi who choose another role within our Order but I let myself be guided by emotion rather than a want to understand and find unity in common ground.” He continued. “You are my brother in the Living Force and I am sorry that I wronged you.” He apologized.

As for the Agricorps, it is not a topic I wish to discuss right now. While I do believe it can bring much good to the Galaxy, now is not the time for it’s rebirth.” He explained. “Instead, our efforts should be on three things, fighting off the Killik threat, aiding worlds impacted by their invasions, and finding allies to aid in our cause.” He continued. “I do not believe the Resistance is a malevolent or malignant force, I believe that it has been, continues to be, and can be a force of good.” Zak stated. “I also recognize that these men and women are not Jedi. But that does not mean there cannot be minimal standards applied to our alliance.” He explained. “Cells which align with our cause cannot involve themselves in terrorist style attacks, they cannot execute pows, they must act with some level of decency.” He continued. “I do not believe that this is too much to ask of our allies and I hope few among you would disagree.” He concluded.
