OOC: Prior to council fiasco
To say that Emryc was exhausted was a huge understatement. He was returning from Sith territory and had shrugged out of his armor en route. The decision of taking up the mantle of Dark Lord or not was weighing heavily on his mind, along with the ominous meeting Renfry intended to have with her council. Nevertheless, he hadn’t said yes or no yet, wanting a brief period of time to simply detach.

His travels took him to the hotel he had booked for himself and Jaikus. It was a chain he invested in, which meant he always got special treatment. As a result, he scored the penthouse suite at the very top and the next few levels down were off limits to guests. Emryc let his partner know when he was arriving, finding a discreet entrance to avoid the crowds to make his way up.

The two had been discussing finding a home together, and Emryc had been largely absent from the discussions and in general. It was clear that managing ISC and also his role as a Sith were beginning to burn through all his time. It was near impossible to align schedules and Emryc knew it wouldn’t change anytime soon.

The half Sephi strode in through the door, making his way right to the sofa to plop down. He tilted his head back and closed his eyes, exhaling quietly as he ran his fingers through his hair. He didn’t say anything, nor did he even check to see if Jaikus was in the suite. For now, a billion thoughts ran through his mind and his comlink, as always, was constantly blowing up.

For once, Jaikus had actually arrived at their hotel suite before Emryc - exceptionally eager to spend a bit of time with his partner after being separated. With the man who mattered most. With Emryc’s responsibilities with the ISC and Sith, and Jaikus’ own work in Sith Intelligence, there was precious little time for the pair to spend together - making their coordinated aligning of schedules and hotel stays almost impossible as of late.

As much as it pained the Axxilan to be apart, he was fully aware of the responsibilities that Emryc bore. He knew exactly what he signed up for being with a Galactic leader, and it was never something he held against his partner. And of course, it didn’t stop Jaikus from rapid-fire sending his partner a flurry of Swillow links multiple times a day. Even if Emryc had largely been absent from discussion about getting a place, the Axxilan had nevertheless done the due diligence of spamming his partner with multiple different options of places for them to get a settle in.

As soon as he arrived at the hotel, Jaikus slipped in a discreet entrance in order to avoid crowds or tabloid cameras - making a beeling for the penthouse suite where Emryc had booked them to stay. By the time Emryc walked through the doors and plopped down into the sofa, Jaikus had just got done popping a frozen veggie meal into the microwave, setting the timer and starting to walk back towards the living room.

Despite putting an increasing amount of time into it, his cooking skills were still very much a work in progress, which meant that while he was becoming increasingly skilled with a handful - a small handful - of dishes, the ones that came out of a box were still the go-to.

Jaikus peaked his head around the corner, warm emeralds immediately settling upon his partner - watching as the half-Sephi leaned his head back and ran fingers through his hair - exhaustion clear on the man’s expression. Almost immediately, the Axxilan’s expression lit up the moment he laid eyes on his partner - feeling that undeniable sense of giddiness upon just being around the man he loved.

While he had arrived at the hotel in his usual stylish dress, the Axxilan had already begun the process of stripping down to something more comfortable by this point. He wore a pair of black sweats and a matching tanktop, alongside his usual chrono-bracelet combo. A pair of dorky glasses rested on the bridge of his nose, and his dark hair was left to take on the thick curls and ringlets he only ever sported around the half-Sephi.

Taking in a breath, Jaikus pushed himself from around the corner and began to quietly, sneakily start to creep towards his partner - attempting to sneak up on the half-Sephi from behind where he was sitting on the couch. Of course, given his partner’s sensitive hearing, Jaikus had no doubts that Emryc heard every bit of his approach - and the recognizable footsteps would immediately give it away as the Axxilan.

After a few minutes of ‘sneaky’ shuffling across the carpet, Jaikus arrived right behind where Emryc was sitting on the sofa - tilting his head down to look at his partner. There was a wide, ridiculous smile on Jaikus’ lips as he abruptly bent down and planted a kiss to the center of Emryc’s forehead - placing both hands in the half-Sephi’s shoulders. “Hey Emy,” He muttered softly, pulling back from the kiss to press his forehead against his partner’s own for a moment.

He lingered there for only a few moments before placing a hand on the spine of the sofa, leaning his weight into his forearm in order to throw his legs over the furniture and plop himself down right next to Emryc on the sofa. His arm shifted to wrap around the half-Sephi’s shoulders, pulling him close to squeeze him tightly.

The Axxilan had no desires to move or do anything in that moment. Only to cherish being around his partner after being separated for far too long. “Missed you, babe.”

In truth, for once Emryc wasn’t entirely and completely aware of his surroundings. It was one of the rare ways he was entirely comfortable with Jaikus. He often let his guard down, much to Raze’s deep displeasure. His mind was consumed by thoughts of all the weight he constantly carried on his shoulders. Despite all his meditation, it was getting tougher each day.

It wasn’t till Jaikus was right next to the sofa that his ears perked up and he opened his eyes. He tilted his head up to gaze at his partner, blinking up with his brilliant silvers before a tired smile appeared on his face, “Hey Jai..” He mumbled quietly, closing his eyes as Jaikus kissed him on the forehead. The weariness was clear even in his voice. He couldn’t help but grin as his partner casually vaulted over the couch to plop down next to him.

Emryc leaned in against Jaikus as he pulled him in, though he was mostly dead weight. He exhaled and shifted himself to lie down with his head on Jaikus’ lap. The half Sephi was rarely known to be this exhausted, always energized and ready to go at all times normally. Now he simply sank into his partner’s lap and laid sprawled out across the couch, long legs extended far beyond the end of it. For a moment, he didn’t even look at Jaikus, gazing vacantly at the ceiling. After a few moments, his gaze flicked up at Jaikus.

“She asked me again,” He stated flatly, “To be the Dark Lord,” He had no desire to beat around the bush with it. It had been weighing on his mind the entire flight over.

The moment that Emryc opened his eyes and looked up at Jaikus, the half-Sephi would see the way that the Axxilan lit up like a Life Day tree upon seein his partner. From that bright, borderline smile stupid smile that stretched from ear to ear, to the Axxilan’s eyes that glinted emerald and radiated with warmth and affection. It was a complete shift from the polite, dignified demeanor that Jaikus wore for most people in the galaxy. It was entirely genuine, and Emryc remained one of the few people in his life that ever see that side of the Axxilan.

As soon as he plopped down on the couch after oh-so-casually vaulting over the furniture, Jaikus wrapped his arms around the half-Sephi to squeeze him tightly - holding him close and savoring the familiar warmth and scent of the man he loved. It brought him more comfort than he would ever accurately put into words, and it was something Jaikus - expressive and affectionate by his very nature - craved whenever they were separated.

Even still, Jaikus clearly noted the way that Emryc was practically dead weight in his arms - something he couldn’t have expected from his typically energetic partner. He blinked a few times as the half-Sephi exhaled and shifted his position on the couch - turning to lay with his head in the Axxilan’s lap. While he had seen his partner stressed and tired more than once, to see him genuinely exhausted was something else entirely - that tired smile from before suddenly making sense.

Jaikus knew exactly how much stress the half-Sephi was under - carrying the the combined weight of leading a rapidly-expanding Galactic government and operating as a high-ranked Sith Lord within the Empire. It didn’t take Jaikus more than a split second to determine why his partner was as exhausted as he was, and it brought the faintest bits of a frown to his lips - seeing the man he loved worked to the bone.

For several long moments, Jaikus didn’t say anything in response to his partner laying down in his lap or his exhausted state. Instead, the Axxilan simply leaned back into the couch seemed content to stay exactly where they were - for so long as Emryc wished to lay there.

Almost instinctively, Jaikus’ left arm rose up from his side and slithered down to the Half-Sephi’s neck - curling around to lightly run his fingernails across the back of his partner’s neck. He grazed through the back of the half-Sephi’s hair and then moved down onto his neck, scratching in the way he knew his partner enjoyed.

His hands only lingered there for a moment before moving down further - turning his attention to the half-Sephi’s shoulders and trapezius muscles. Using all five fingers, the Axxilan began to dig in firmly and massage the tense muscle that ran between the half-Sephi’s neck and back - lingering for several seconds on one side before switching to the other.

While one hand kneaded and massaged the half-Sephi’s tense shoulders, Jaikus’ other hand reached forth and took hold of Emryc by the wrist. Without a word, Jaikus brought his partner’s hand towards his face and leaned forward - pressing his lips to the top of Emryc’s thumb. He planted a small kiss to the knuckle, lingering there for a moment before moving to the index finger and repeating the gesture. He crossed each finger on the half-Sephi’s hand, planting a kiss to each knuckle before moving to the top of the half-Sephi’s hand and pressing his lips there as well - kissing affectionately there as well. He lingered for only a moment before drawing back, opting to weave his fingers together with Emryc - content to simply hold his partner’s hand firmly.

Jaikus stared down at his partner, offering the half-Sephi a soft smile when his gaze finally flicked from the ceiling. The Axxilan blinked a few times when the half-Sephi finally spoke, silent for a few moments.

It wasn’t the first time that Renfry had asked Emryc to take up that position, and nor was it the first time that Jaikus had heard about it. It was something that the pair had discussed back on Onderon and since, and the Axxilan knew exactly the reservations that his partner had in taking that position. And yet Jaikus knew that it was weighing on his partner’s mind far more now than it usually did.

He thumbed a finger across the top of Emryc’s hand, giving his partner a firm squeeze. “What did you tell her this time?” He said softly, staring down into his partner’s brilliant silver eyes. Jaikus couldn’t help but feels some concern within his own chest at the prospect of his partner taking that position. Jaikus knew that Emryc's workload would only increase upon taking that title, and that being able to balance the weight of two galactic powers upon his shoulders would strain the half-Sephi to his very limits.

He felt that distinct concern for his partner's wellbeing above all else, rather than the expectations that seemingly everyone else stacked onto the half-Sephi. "Are you considering it?"

Emryc closed his eyes when Jaikus began to brush his fingers against the back of his hair and neck. His touch would slide right above the discreet Cadre tattoo at the nape of his neck and below. There was a soft, satisfied groan as he completely relaxed against his partner’s touch. Jaikus was perhaps the only one he had ever allowed himself to be this vulnerable with. Raze despised it, but the Axxilan had been given ample opportunities to end Emryc’s life swiftly in a million different circumstances. He could do it so easily and end one of the worst threats to ever exist in the galaxy. Just like that.

It was a lot of Raze talking in his mind, still lingering from the earlier meeting with Renfry. He felt the gentle kneading against his shoulders and opened his eyes again when Jaikus grasped his hand. He felt each tender kiss, watching his handsome partner quietly for a few moments without a word. How did he find this as effortless as he found butchering and killing others? The silver gaze stared up, but it was clear his thoughts were elsewhere. Emryc was difficult to read even by Jaikus sometimes.

“I am considering it,” He said after a while, “I told her my terms would be that I operate above the council. And I get the authority to discipline or kill Councilors or Sith Lords if needed,” He exhaled. After a moment, he turned on his side and wrapped an arm around Jaikus’ waist, burying his face against his partner’s stomach.

“I wanted to discuss with you first,” Emryc mumbled quietly, his voice slightly muffled, “It’ll add a lot more on me than what I have today. I know I’m already never around,” He sighed, “But Raze wants this.”

Even if his partner couldn’t see it, Jaikus couldn’t help the way he smiled down affectionately at Emryc - emerald eyes remaining transfixed onto the man he loved and cherished. It was that same warm look of pure affection that always worked its way onto the Axxilan’s face whenever they reunited after periods of being separated, feeling that familiar sense of comfort wash over him. More than with anyone else in the galaxy - even members of his own family - Jaikus found himself entirely at ease around his partner, able to be entirely at ease and himself around the half-Sephi.

His smile tugged a bit wider, hearing those soft, satisfied groans uttered in response to the light scratches that were traced across the half-Sephi’s neck and hair. Whatever thoughts or musings of Raze lingered, Jaikus was completely ignorant to - instead keeping his focus on simply enjoying the moment with the man he loved.

Minutes could’ve turned into hours, and Jaikus would’ve been content to simply remain exactly as they were.

Jaikus glanced down, meeting those silvery eyes at the same time that Emryc stared up. That look of affection lingered even then, though it didn’t take Jaikus more than a split second to see the distant look in his partner’s eyes. It was as clear that Emryc’s mind was elsewhere - lost within his own thoughts. The Axxilan had grown experienced at picking the nonverbal cues and ways his partner behaved, but even then, Jaikus couldn’t deny Emryc was difficult to read.

He didn’t immediately pry for information. Instead, Jaikus continued to massage his fingers into the tense muscle of his partner’s shoulder - shifting to using his knuckles to work out the tension. His other hand knitted firmly with Emryc’s fingers, swaying gently as he drew his thumb across the top of Emryc’s hand.

When Emryc finally spoke, Jaikus kept his emerald eyes fixate downward - listening intently to the half-Sephi’s response. He couldn’t deny being somewhat surprised to hear that Emryc was considering taking the title, knowing how much that he had shunned doing so in the past. The Axxilan nodded his head softly, listening to the terms that his partner had laid out in order to take that position.

Jaikus let out a soft hum when Emryc turned onto his side and wrapped an arm around the Axxilan’s waist - feeling the half-Sephi’s face pressed into his abdomen. In response, Jaikus allowed his hands to work their way lower onto his partner’s exposed back - digging his knuckles into the muscles of Emryc’s scarred back to continue his massage.

The Axxilan couldn’t help but smile a bit when Emryc muttered quietly. He knew how much his partner valued his independence and autonomy, and the fact that the half-Sephi had a desire to discuss the issue with him first was a significant detail that wasn’t lost on Jaikus. Though he didn’t say anything about it at the moment, there was a clear way that the Axxilan hugged his partner a bit tightly - snuggling against him affectionately.

Jaikus paused for a long moment, listening as Emryc stated that this was something Raze wanted. As his partner, the Axxilan was fully aware of all the ways that Emryc and Raze were separate entities, and harbored different desires. And Jaikus knew that denying the desires of Raze to take on that position would ultimately eat away at his partner in the long-run.

He was silent for a long moment, continuing to thumb his finger across Emryc’s hand. After a few seconds, the Axxilan leaned down. “I love you, Emryc.” He said softly. “If this is something you choose to do, I will support you completely.” He said, smiling down at the half-Sephi.

“And I will savor every bit of time that we get to spent together.” He closed that bit of distance to plant a kiss to the top of Emryc’s head and hair. As much as he would’ve liked to spend all the time in the galaxy with his partner, the Axxilan knew that taking on that title - even if it was only officiating what the half-Sephi was effectively already doing - would mean less time to spend together.

He was silent for a few seconds more, wrapping his arms around Emryc to snuggle him close. “If you take on that position.. Perhaps you should delegate some of your responsibilities as President? To at least lighten some of the load on yourself.” He glanced down at his partner. That same edge of concern for the half-Sephi's wellbeing was there - once more bleeding into his voice when he considered just how much Emryc had on his plate currently, and what he was commiting to take on additionally.

Emryc sank into the familiarity. His grip tightened around his partner, his face nuzzling against him as he took in the familiar scents and feel of Jaikus he missed whenever they were apart. The Axxilan had always been consistent, and he had always known entering a relationship with Emryc meant a tumultuous lifestyle. There were no consistent dates or time spent together, there was no predictable routine, plans changed unexpectedly all the time. Emryc never felt guilt for it, because he knew what his life was and Jaikus knew that as well. Jaikus stood by him despite it all, never letting an ounce of resentment bleed in. And yet, the times apart were always difficult.

“There will be far more strain with the slew of Core Worlds joining the ISC. We’re not prepared for that kind of influx,” He admitted aloud, something he hadn’t stated too brazenly around his own council though they all knew it. Emryc knew he had to delegate. There was no choice at this point. He knew where and how to delegate as well. The half Sephi simply exhaled, feeling better after bringing up the Dark Lord topic. He mumbled what vaguely sounded like “I love you” barely audibly before he grew quiet. The massage was doing wonders, and Jaikus would realize Emryc went still after a while.

Eventually, the sound of steady breathing began, gradually growing into some very quiet and low snores. The half Sephi never snored, and even now it was barely audible, but definitely there. His grip never released Jaikus as Emryc completely faded and relaxed against his partner. He finally collapsed from the exhaustion, sinking into a place where he felt home and safe.

It was almost an hour that Jaikus was stuck like that if he allowed Emryc to sleep on him. The half Sephi blinked his eyes open, quickly realizing what he had done. He rose up then, slinking his arm away. His hair was messy and he rubbed his eyes, blinking a few times sleepily as he looked at Jaikus.

“How long was I out?” He asked, somewhat alarmed. Emryc ran his fingers through his hair, “Fuck I just dropped like a sack of potatoes..” He muttered, grinning almost sheepishly at his partner. Emryc rose from the couch, stretching and rolling his shoulders. A series of pops echoed as he looked down at Jaikus, “Did you find a place you liked? I’m getting tired of the hotels.”

Jaikus couldn’t help as he let out a soft, satisfied little hum - one of the telltale indicators, coupled with the rest of his blatant and unabashed expression, that was Axxilan was exceptionally happy at that moment. The Axxilan knew what being in a relationship with Emryc meant, and that there would always been those difficult times apart - even once they moved in together. There was never any resentment, and it meant that he cherished every bit of time together he could get with his partner, and was content to simply exist with Emryc close.

No plans, no objectives. Just the two of them.

He held the way that Emryc gripped him tightly, and the way he nuzzled his face against him, and Jaikus’ allowed himself to completely relax into the familiarity and comfort of his partner’s touch. It was something that Jaikus had felt a hundred times over and yet it still filled him with that undeniable, cozy feeling - the warmth that washed over him and wrapped around like a blanket.

It was the place where the Axxilan was the happiest, and where he felt safe and secure - able to be vulnerable without any thoughts or concerns. It was home, no matter where the two of them physically were.

Jaikus listened quietly when Emryc spoke, admitting aloud the concerns about the recent influx of Republic worlds to the ISC. The Axxilan was completely aware of the way that the Consortium, at least in the beginning, would struggle with the new additions - the Outer Rim government suddenly forced to adapt to the addition of the Core. Brentaal had been one planet - over a quarter of the Republic was an entirely different story.

“Well,” He began, continuing to dig his knuckles into the tense muscle of his partner’s back, drawing small circles with his fingers to massage. “Time to put that executive council of yours to work,” He said playfully, though not entirely joking. He knew that Emryc needed to - and should - delegate some of his mounting responsibilities, and they would likely mean handing them off to his capable governors.

The Axxilan leaned back a bit, letting his back sink a bit into the back of the couch - his fingers and knuckles continued to work along the half-Sephi’s upper back and shoulders. Jaikus couldn’t help but smile widely when he heard that faint, mumbled ‘I love you,’ a faint bit of redness immediately rushing to his face - just as it did every single time the half-Sephi ever uttered those words.

“Love you, Emy.” He muttered very softly, focused entirely on the massage and simply relaxing with the man he adored. He felt his partner go still, and continued on without pause - even going so far as to eventually close his own eyes as he massaged.

It wasn’t until Emryc’s breathing shifted, and the sound of very quiet snores began to fill the room - that Jaikus’ eyes popped back open. He had seen the half-Sephi sleeping on multiple occasions at this point, but never had he heard the half-Sephi snoring - despite apparently sounding like an industrial wood-chipper himself, every single night, without fail. It was clear that his partner was completely exhausted, and Jaikus didn’t even consider moving from where he was now effectively stuck in place.

Instead, the Axxilan simply smiled - reaching up to run a few fingers through the half-Sephi’s hair - staring down at him for a few moments lovingly before he opted to continue to rub along his partner’s back for a few minutes more.

Almost an hour passed, and Jaikus found himself jolting back to consciousness only a few moments before his partner - feeling the half-Sephi starting to stir from where he was laying. The Axxilan had an arm propped against the arm of the couch, leaning his head onto his knuckles as he at one point or another drifted off to sleep. The sounds of the HoloNet in from of them were largely forgotten, and he was entirely at ease with his partner - which meant that dozing off despite being fully rested wasn’t too difficult.

He blinked a few times, staring up at Emryc as the half-Sephi rose. There was a clear flat spot on the side of Jai’s hair where his fist had been pressed to prop himself up, and the glasses on the Axxilan’s face were comically twisted to the side - sitting crooked on the bridge of his nose.

Jaikus glanced down at the clock on the bottom of the HoloScreen before looking back to Emryc. “‘Bout an hour,” Jaikus said with a soft smile, finally reaching up to fix the glasses on his face and run a hand through his wild curls. He couldn’t help but smile a bit wider when he caught sight of his partner’s sheepish smile. “You did look pretty wasted, babe.”

“You sure you don’t want me to walk on your back?”
He smirked up at Emryc, hearing the series of pops and cracks when the half-Sephi rolled his shoulders. The Axxilan’s voice was still a bit hoarse and groggy. At one point or another, Jaikus would probably remember the veggie meal he popped into the microwave over an hour ago. Probably..

Jaikus nodded in agreement when Emryc mentioned getting tired of the hotels. “Yeah, me too..” He muttered. The Axxilan adored every bit of time spent with his partner, but the constant flitting from one penthouse suite to another was something that was leaving neither of them completely satisfied.

“I found a couple,” He rose to his feet, letting out a little yawn as he did so. Jaikus pulled the datapad from his back pocket, opening up the Swillow app he had downloaded some time ago. Emryc would of course recognize the logo as the app was opened, as Jaikus had sent his partner literally dozens of different links of potential places for them to stay.

“I wanted to get your thoughts on them - make sure you like them.” He said with a smile. The Axxilan clicked around before extending the datapad to Emryc - allowing the half-Sephi to take it and start swiping through images. As he did so, Jaikus positioned himself behind the half-Sephi - snaking his arms around his partner’s waist and placing his head against the side of his torso - eyes faced ahead to also look at the Swillow pictures.

"What do you think about this one?" He said, gesturing to the pictures. "It's located on the edge of the capital, but still close to the spaceport for a transport to get you there in minutes. It's cozy, right? And look at countertops! Brillibab wood - it's nice, right?" He said, looking entirely pleased with that little detail that Emryc would probably find ridiculous. "It had a few nice running trails nearby.." He reached forward to swipe through a few more pictures. "And it had an attached gym. So you don't have to deal with anyone slamming the weights or being morons." He grinned, clearly recalling the multiple times Emryc have to suffer through the awful hotel gyms they frequented. "And there is an office. Can convert it for any press releases."

As Emryc scrolled, a new place would eventually pop up. "There is also this one," He said, pointing out the pictures of the second. "It's closer to the city center, but it doesn't have any of the nearby running trails."

Jaikus glanced up at his partner, still wrapping his arms around him. "What do you think? I have a few others I found too that I think are nice."

Emryc was about to walk towards the kitchen when he felt Jaikus curl around him and pull up pictures. Jaikus couldn’t see it immediately, but there was a quick look of distaste before it quickly disappeared. The half Sephi didn’t want options. He simply wanted Jaikus to tell him what he liked and that would be the end of it. He was silent as Jaikus laid out the thought process behind the places. He gazed over the picture options, pleased and surprised to find nothing was over the top.

“Modest,” He remarked quietly, “Sure you’ll be able to live without a giant walk in closet?” He grinned as he looked through the rest of the specs. He visibly perked up at the mention of a gym, showing far more interest then. When Jaikus asked what he wanted, Emryc shrugged vaguely.

“Whichever one has more surfaces for me to have you on. Those countertops look adequate,” He said flatly, followed with another grin knowing it would make Jaikus’ eyes almost fall out from rolling them.

“The gym one,” He said without giving it a second glance, “I’ll buy the whole complex so no one bothers us,” Emryc leaned in to lightly kiss Jaikus on the forehead before plodding over to the kitchen. He could vaguely smell food from the microwave. Emryc opened it and lit up at once, “Oh sweet!”

With that, he grabbed a fork and casually began to dig in without bothering to warm it up. Lukewarm and almost cool frozen veggie meal that would make most people gag. Emryc inhaled about half of it before opening the fridge. He grabbed a gallon container of milk, knowing no one but him bothered drinking it. Without a word, popped the lid open and drank right from it, chugging the entire thing in one go. Of course, since he was vegan, it was plant based milk. Another reason Jaikus wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole.

Jaikus glanced up at Emryc, though did not immediately pick up on the look of distaste that briefly manifested on his partner’s face. The Axxilan knew this was a big step for the both of them, and didn’t immediately realize that the half-Sephi didn’t want options. He kept his arms wrapped around his partner’s waist, head pressed to the side of his torso as they scrolled through the pictures.

The Axxilan rolled his eyes, looking up at the half-Sephi entirely unamused as the remark about a walk-in closet. “Excuse you,” He jabbed his partner in the ribs with his index and middle finger. “What do I look like, some stuck up, bougie noble with a wardrobe the size of a small condo?” Jaikus couldn’t help the way his lips twitched upwards as he looked up at Emryc, arching a brow as he did so. He drew back his two fingers and poised to strike, as if threatening another jab in the ribs if Emryc opted to answer what was rhetorical question with a ‘yes’.

Jaikus didn’t miss the way Emryc perked up when the gym was mentioned, not the least bit surprised. It was one specification that the Axxilan had ensured was included with whatever place they got, even if the home itself wasn’t particularly large.

As expected, Jaikus rolled his eyes practically into the back of his skull when Emryc made his dirty quip - that smile on the Axxilan’s face tugging a bit wider. “Mhm. I am sure we’ll have plenty of variety no matter which one we pick, don’t you worry.” He glanced around the room before back to his partner, offering a wink, “Plenty of adequate countertops in here, y’know.”

“Gym one it is,”
He said simply. There was close to a dozen other suitable housing options and accompanying pictures that Jaikus had on hand to show Emryc, but the Axxilan opted not to present another more options. He knew his partner was content with the place they was picked and was more than happy to leave it at that.

Jaikus’ emerald eyes followed Emryc has he made for the kitchen. It was only just at that moment that the Axxilan remembered the meal he had popped into the microwave before sitting down with Emryc and napping for an hour - only vaguely picking up on the smells coming from the microwave that his partner apparently picked up on like a Corellian bloodhound.

“Hey babe I can heat that up–”

Jaikus paused, staring at his partner with a look of slight dismay as Emryc began gleefully digging into that cold veggie meal. Despite it clearly not being his preference, the Axxilan had tried the veggie meals on multiple occasions with his partner - usually sticking to whatever the half-Sephi ate whenever they were together. By comparison, the Axxilan’s pallet was significantly less picky. Still, he knew from experience that those particular dishes were only stomachable warm and the fact that Emryc was casually munching away would never cease to amaze him.

He blinked a few times, watching as Emryc continued on in his ways and proceeded to drink the vegan milk right out of the carton. The half-Sephi was spared of any screeching from his partner on account of the fact that Jaikus didn’t actually drink the vegan milk, and that fact alone.

“Dig in, babe,” He quipped, walking past Emryc into the kitchen. He leaned into the fridge, rifling around for a few seconds before pulling out a small plastic cup of cut fruit and yogurt. There was already a spoon buried into the cup, and Jaikus proceeded to take his snack and plop down into a chair right next to his partner.

The Axxilan reached out with the Force, coiling his grasp around a cup that had been left next an electric kettle on the countertop. He levitated them both over, setting one down next to Emryc. “Cold tea to go with your cold food.” Jaikus grinned, shaking his head a bit before starting to dig into his cup of fruit and yogurt.

After a few moments, Jaikus reached a hand over - laying it gently onto Emryc’s wrist. “I really did miss you..” He muttered softly, giving his partner’s wrist a squeeze before withdrawing.

He was silent for a few more moments as he downed his snack. While Emryc consistently wolfed down his food with military efficiency, Jaikus never failed to take his sweet time about it. By the time he was two-thirds of the way through his cup, the Axxilan glanced back up to Emryc. “You know, we haven’t had the chance to get out in a while.” He started, jabbing his spoon back down into his cup. “We’re here for a few days. Could relax the rest of the day, and then maybe we could go out and see some more of this place.” He gestured out the window, looking out to the city that stretched out from their hotel window.
