Valorie Kefka was an orphan girl who grew up on the New Republic world of Byblos. Her childhood was spent living in the lower levels of the city planet, a street kid who picked pockets and ran scams for one of the smaller undercity gangs. She grew bitter at both the meager share of her earnings that she was given by the gang at the end of the day, as well as with the New Republic law that offered no aid to the less fortunate like herself and instead criminalized and persecuted her very existence. Persecution that one day landed her in a juvenile detention facility for a few years.

Released back into the undercity during her teen years, Valorie attempted to go straight for a brief period but was quickly forced back into a life of crime to avoid starvation. There was little opportunity for a youth such as herself without the support system of a family, and the gangs cared only about their bottom line. Scampering back to her old gang, Valorie tried to keep up with their demands but soon realized that she couldn’t keep up with their quotas now that she was too old to run her old scams. Forced to run from her own gang after they attempted to sell her to an offworld slaver to save their bottom line, Valorie vowed to forge her own path and never rely on the whims of others again.

A stolen blaster, a quick temper, and a healthy distrust for others has kept Valorie safe over the years from her old gang. Marketing herself as a blaster for hire, Valorie has managed to keep the loan sharks off her back while trying to scrape up enough to live off of after her debts for the rotation are paid. A dream of escaping the Byblos streets and spires drives her onwards, spurred to new desperation after the Sith invasion that threatens the very world she seeks to escape.
