Etti IV

Finn had no idea what this Maevale Worscu had done to piss off whoever had put a bounty on her head, and he didn't care. He barely had enough credits to his name to keep himself fed, so till he managed to get rid of the stock he had gotten stuck with on Tatooine his ship was grounded. So he was desperate to take on almost any job that came his way, even bounty hunting.

He had picked up the puck from the local charter of the Bounty Hunter's Guild, but because he wasn't a member of the guild they had refused to let him do the job on his own. And not only would he forced to take on a partner, he wouldn't even get an even split of the reward. He didn't like any of that, but he was desperate for the credits, so here he was.

Turning to the droid seated in the pilot's chair he tried to get a read on it, but even when he had the Force to help him with things like this he had been horrible at reading droids, so he had no idea what to make of the droid.

"This happen often, the Guild stick you with babysitting duty?"

D3-EZ was having a good rotational cycle. It had recently acquired lots of credits, enough to purchase itself a starship! After quickly calculating it's needs to carry out it's primary function, the droid had settled on a Justifier-class Patrol Craft. It had even picked up the starship at a bargain price after informing the purchasing agent of it's awareness of where the sentient organic and his organic family maintained residence.

There was the question of the organic that sat next to D3-EZ in the cockpit, a tag along from the Bounty Hunter's Guild. The Guild had insisted the assassin droid take the organic along for the ride to earn his way into the guild. D3-EZ did not know why that was it's problem, but it did as it was told.

"Statement: This unit has never performed the duty of sitting on small infants." The droid said with a tone of... amusement? The droid would turn it's head towards the man and the dark faceplate would light up briefly.

🙂

Then it would go dark again as the droid returned it's attention to flying, bringing the patrol craft in for a landing on one of the more out of the way docks on Etti IV. The better to not be asked questions.

"Statement: If you require a pacifier however, I have one right here." The droid said, looking again at the man with the same comically cold smiling face as it patted one of the blaster pistols on it's hip. Whether it was intended as a threat or a joke or just a straightforward comment was anyone's guess.

"Query: Has the organic Finnick Dondarrion ever eliminated another sentient organic?" The droid asked. This was crucial to the job, if the man had hesitations he might as well stay behind on the ship. As a Blackwell built assassin droid, D3-EZ had no hesitations.

Finn's brows furrowed briefly at the droid's reply, as he noticed its faceplate light up. He had worked with droids in the past, he relied on one to pilot his ship, but this was new. Was that humor?

He did chuckle at the next statement, despite the realization that he might need to change his ways to break away from his old life the dark sense of humor that life had given him was still very much there. Though the smile died when the droid followed up with a question.

"Yes," he finally replied after a few moments, "I have." He had no qualms about killing, the decision to leave the Sith hadn't changed who he was, but he did want to share as little of his past life as he could. But given the nature of the job he had taken on, he couldn't really lie about that part of his life.

"If I must, I'll do it again."'

D3-EZ monitored the organics response functions as it spoke, noting the positive reaction of a light laugh at it's second statement. It had seen these positive reaction responses a few times now being used by organics. They were different than the scream, yell, groan, cry, whimper, beg, and plead functions it had become accustomed to seeing on an organic's face.

There was a moment of analysis as the organic admitted to a propensity for murder of his own kind. Statuses linked to the organic Finnick Dondarrion changed as D3-EZ updated it's threat/competency metrics on the man. It tilted it's head slightly as it's faceplate lit up.

🙂

"Reassurance: Don't worry. You will!" That is why you are here after all." The droid said in a slightly higher tone as it attempted to portray a positive attitude. D3-EZ's faceplate would change as he finished speaking, a different face appearing with a wink.

😉

D3-EZ would place a hand of reassurance on the man's shoulder as it stood up, putting pressure down on his shoulder that would be quite uncomfortable for the moment. D3-EZ ran an opportunity takedown decision through it's matrix and settled on a no as it released the man, turning to march back towards the ship's weapon locker.

"Query: Are you suitably armed?" The droid would ask as it pulled a Zok-10 blaster rifle stiffly out of the locker.

"Yeah," he replied to the droid's assurance with some uncertainty, "thanks?" Staying in his seat for a moment after the droid had risen and left, he turned in his seat to stare at its retreating figure. Wondering just what sort of curiosity he had gotten himself mixed with, he decided it didn't matter. It had neither tried to shoot him, not tried to rob him, which was a pleasant change from his recent interactions in this new line of work he was trying to break into. That was partly why he was even more caught off by its reactions and attempted assurance than a normal person might have been.

Pushing himself to his feet when he heard the droid's question, he pulled his blaster out of its holster and held it up for the droid to see.

"I'm good," he said as he waived the blaster before sliding it back into its holster, or rather trying to, having to use both hands to get it properly secured. "I don't think I'd be of any use with something that size," he nodded at the rifle the droid had pulled out, "a little beyond my skill set. Up close and personal is where I work best." Not really sure why he was sharing that information with the droid, he immediately thought back to one of his classes at the academy. Never share more than you must. And yet here he was, getting chummy with a droid, telling it just what weaknesses to exploit. Next thing you know he'd be making friends with the astromech he had purchased for his ship.

"This target," he continued after his blaster was properly secure, "she's a Zeltron. Their pheromones can be a problem for organics, and they can manipulate emotions. Left to her devices she's sure to try her tricks on me. You wouldn't have any concussion grenades or something in that locker of yours, would you?"
