Troo-t'il (Truw-Tuh-Hill) Sissian, was a male Chadra Fan who ran a privateering operation from the trading outpost called the Rings of Kafrene. A spacer, who was raised by his parents running shipments around Eriadu, and the surrounding space, he broke off on his own, setting up a junk dealership on Kafrene following his father's death. Seeking to create a smuggling union and privateering ring, so as to profit from the increasing unrest that was spiking across the region and the wider galaxy, Troo-t'il became enmeshed in the criminal underworld, falling in with the Five Syndicates when he was a young man. Taking the moniker Shadowpaw, so as to help keep his criminality more secretive, he entered into the arena of crime with caution.

Despite his initial hesitation to undertake a more direct role within overt criminality, Shadowpaw took to it like a fish to water and using a degree of cunning that came naturally to him, he set about establishing himself as a force to be reckoned within the region. Seeking to dominate the trade of illegal goods, through smuggling and piracy, Shadowpaw set to work himself, piloting his own ship, building a network of informers and fences, and laying the groundwork to establish his own organisation, a Union of 'Free Traders', that he hoped would enable him to project his own strength across the region. With a blaster in his hand and the whiff of credits driving him on, he set to work.

Biography

Born to a family of Spacers running shipments between the Rings and Eriadu, Troo-t'il was made for a life in the Space lanes. With his parents teaching him from a young age how to handle a blaster, pilot a ship and negotiate the best deal on a spice crate, Troo-t'il never expected anything else from life than running around in Space. His youth, whilst adventurous, was, therefore, something he looked back kindly upon, despite losing his mother at sixteen to old age, and his father two years later to a gambling dispute.

Not one to allow the family business to die out, Troo-t'il took up his fathers' mantle and became a Freighter Captain in his own right, continuing to use the contacts and channels his parents had used before him. After two years as a Captain, he began to grow tired of the slim profit margins of the legitimate trade, and instead decided to make a bit of a move. Using credits left by his father, Troo-t'il established a scrap and junk dealership on the Rings of Kafrene, the place in which he had grown up, and began to dabble in less legitimate forms of work.

Falling in with all the wrong people, pirates, drug runners and thugs alike, he took the name 'Shadowpaw', as it was considered commonplace to take a moniker in this game, and set to work establishing a brand for himself. Hooking Smugglers up with jobs, fencing stolen goods and linking buyers and sellers of the illicit together, Shadowpaw saw the credits coming in and began to take a liking to this new way of life. Topping up his income through privateering, he sought to establish himself as the go to guy for work in the sector, and through a combination of thievery, privateering and anything in between, would see that it was done.

Over the course of the first year, Shadowpaw would engage in boarding actions with fellow goons, seizing cargo from haulage ships and selling the goods off through fences and Smugglers. It was during one such operation that he was to engage in a knife fight with a Trandoshan, who rather underhandedly, gnawed off one of his paws. Not one to accept such a setback, he jabbed a blade into the throat of the creature, and - when back at Kafrene - had a black cybernetic replacement installed, which he dubbed the Shadowpaw in honour of his namesake.

Now, with the Galaxy spinning further and further toward disorder, the Five Syndicates on the rise, Shadowpaw seeks to make a name for himself. Paying his dues to the Syndicates, whilst seeking to climb their ranks, he set his eyes on a single ambition, to found a League of Free Traders - smugglers, privateers and thieves - under his leadership, across the Sector and the surrounding space. He knew the methods he would need to employ, he had the wit to do it, now all that remained, was to see if fate was on his side.

Personality & Traits

A businessman through and through, Shadowpaw was known to be a shrewd negotiator, who did not suffer fools lightly. Whilst appearing as an honest and upstanding local businessman to those who were not engaged in the work of criminals, his ruthless streak was easy to see once the guise dropped, and Shadowpaw engaged in dealings with fellow members of the illegitimate underclass. In part due to his commercial undertakings, Shadowpaw had a way with words, leading one customer to say he "could sell sand to a Jawa, and snow to a Wampa" - a smooth talker through and through, he was adept at negotiating, and when the occasion called for it, intimidation.

Something of a pragmatist at heart, Shadowpaw was very much aware of his own limitations, but none the less was open to taking risks and engaging in adventures that placed him and his pecuniary wellbeing under threat. Mistrusting law-enforcement, regardless of who it was for, he viewed personal freedom as something to be treasured and protected, and would sometimes go the extra mile if his undertakings or contracts as a privateer saw him hitting back at an authoritarian power, or freeing the enslaved.

Powers & Abilities

Shadowpaw was a smart and quick-witted young man and was just as fast on the draw of his blaster as he was with a blade. Thanks to years working the space lanes, both as a Smuggler and a Privateer, he was a competent operator. An excellent marksman, most especially with blaster pistols, he was able to handle small blades with ease and a level of deadliness that belied his small stature. Owing to his upbringing in the space lanes, he was a good engineer, able to patch up droids and ships alike, often using whatever spare parts lay around.

Weapons Proficiency — Honed through years of practice and necessity, Shadowpaw is a keen shot with a pistol and just as apt with a blade. Preferring to make use of weapons at range, owing to his slight stature, he is an ace with a throwing knife and always ensures to keep some on his persons at any one time.

Physical Abilities — A privateer and Smuggler by trade, Shadowpaw is in good physical condition, able to move at speed, and despite his small physical frame, he is as strong as one would expect, able to hold his own. His skills with a blade are augmented through his knowledge of the martial art form Teräs Käsi, a form he ensures to practice daily.

Technological Aptitude — Clearly one of his more honed skills, Shadowpaw is able to take apart the operating board of a ship, and reassemble it with ease. Likewise, he is a capable slicer, finding it second-nature to crack into a computer system or droid provided he has the correct tools for the job. Such skills have served him well throughout his life in the Space Lanes, and furthermore support his legitimate job as a junk seller.

Privateer — Hands down his most used skillset, Shadowpaw is a natural behind the controls of a ship, able to turn on the most hulking brute of a freighter, and ignite the pirate ship it has always wanted to be. Whether it be feigning a damaged engine, or boasting manoeuvres that would make a pilot ace blush, Shadowpaw is a natural. Furthermore, donning a space suit and performing a boarding action? He's got it covered.
