Healing tired muscles. Huh. That was a very good call, one she hadn't even considered. Constant muscle contraction and relaxation would eventually deplete the amount of ATP and ions available to the muscles. In the worst-case scenario, it could cause microtears, resulting in muscle soreness. However, this meant that the Force could replenish the muscles and potentially heal the microtears. It also meant she knew what to concentrate on and how to fix it.

Ephiny was genuinely a clever woman.

Clove's brow furrowed as she focused on her muscles and the visualization of healing them. How it must've felt for the muscles to stop feeling tired, for the muscles to be filled with ions, and for new ATPs to be created. It was strange at first because, while imagination and even medical stuff weren't unfamiliar to her, combining the two was. But she knew Ephiny was a sweet lady with hopefully plenty of patience, so the half-Sephi took her time.

Quite a few minutes passed before Clove felt ready. But when she did, she began to release the Force she had gathered and guided it into her muscles. The Force, together with the visualization, worked hand in hand and swirled through her body.

At first nothing happened, almost as if the Force was confused about what to do. But then the first bit of slight relief washed over her limbs, followed by a, albeit weak, sensation of refreshment.

It wasn't a lot by any means, not even enough to solve all the fatigue all at once. But there was a noticeable change, and that was enough for her.

Her eyes blew open, and her Force Healing came to a halt. Her eyes were twice as big as usual, and a thin layer of moisture had formed on her lower eyelids. She actually did it. The one thing she wanted to do for so long. Something that allowed her to be truly useful. Happiness did not describe the feelings that ran through her body.

"Master Daivand! I think I somewhat did it! I felt a change!"

Ephiny smiled while she felt Clove guide the Force and to heal her tired muscles, the girl was really good with it. Although this version of Force healing was basic, many padawans still struggled with the part of visualizing the muscles being healed. It was common for them to do more than one attempt before being able to at least heal part of the affected area.

However, so far the half-Sephi was successful in relieving part of her muscles’ fatigue on her first try. When they return to the Temple, Ephiny would arrange a visit at the Medical bay for a lesson of proper Force healing. The Archivist was certain that the Padawan would be able to develop more of her abilities this way.

When Clove said that she felt something change, the Archivist applauded while smiling. She believed that during the learning process all progress made by a student should be celebrated. After all, it would be another step towards their goals. “Good work, Clove! Few padawans are able to do it during their first attempt.” she said to the half-Sephi, before continuing to teach her. “This ability is very useful when you are on missions that need much effort, but have little time to rest. However, we can only use it when it's really necessary. A time to rest properly is very important!” the last thing that Ephiny wanted was to have the Padawan using this ability to overload herself with tasks. However, she doubted that Clove was the type of person that would do something so reckless.

"To teach you how to heal injuries, we will need to be at the medical bay. As soon as we return to the Temple, I'll talk with the Healers to allow us to have a lesson there. But you made great progress today!" Ephiny smiled at the Padawan, feeling happy for Clove's performance. Then she pulled her datapad to make a note for her to remember about talking with the Healers. Looking at the clock, the Archivist noticed that it was already past noon.

"Clove, what do you think of returning to the spaceport? We can have lunch there." she said to the Padawan. Even if they brought their own food, it would be more comfortable to eat there. "We can wash our hands there, too. Doing it before meals is very important."

Even after all these years, Clove had no idea how to respond when someone complimented her. Not to mention the applause. But Ephiny clearly meant well, so she smiled shyly towards her, despite her ears twitching uncomfortably. "Thank you very much, Master Daivand. You are an amazing teacher. I don't think I could've done this without your help."

"It's only reasonable that we use it when absolutely necessary. It wouldn't be wise to rely solely on the Force rather than taking a break and rest. Furthermore, abusing the Force isn't a good thing!" She gave a firm nod in response. Besides that, it seemed that it would backfire in the end. Using the Force, which was draining, to gain more energy? That card house would eventually fall apart.

"That would be great! Oh my goodness, we have so many exciting plans for when we return home!" It was difficult to sit still, and thankfully, the Archivist had pulled out her datapad and noticed the time. Clove, to be fair, had forgotten about the time and was simply eager to do more. She was bubbling with enthusiasm and energy.

"Oh! Yeh! I haven't had lunch in a spaceport in ages!" Another reason it was nice was that having lunch with Ephiny sounded like a lot of cozy fun. But she wasn't sure if she should say that out loud or not. "I'd like to wash my hands because they're a little sticky from all the dust here."

Ephiny’s face becomes red with Clove’s compliment. “Thank you! As a teacher, my job is to mediate and encourage you to do your best. Your success in this first lesson was only made possible by your own effort.

The Archivist nodded in agreement when the Padawan agreed that using Force healing to avoid resting wasn't correct. "Yes, by using it constantly you will end up tiring yourself. After all, prolonged use of the Force can cause problems for your body. In the end, the person would be healing a part of his body, only to hurt another place."

After Clove agreed to go to lunch. Ephiny got up from where she was sitting. The two would start to walk toward the spaceport. While they walked, the Archivist would continue to tell the Padawan some more of historical facts "Before the Crown Supernova hit Ossus, the Jedi Order was able to save a mosaic floor of the temple and transported it to Coruscant, where it still remains. This was one of the few things that Palpatine didn't destroy. The mosaics and other artifacts were only saved because the Jedi had the help of the Exis Station, which by the time still was a Jedi space station."

Soon they arrived at the spaceport. After entering the building, Ephiny would guide the Padawan to the bathroom where they would be able to wash their hands. Once they finished, the Archivist would turn to Clove. "There are some tables on a balcony, we can eat there. Did you bring food?" The Knight asked, if the half-Sephi forgot to bring, she would buy something for her to eat.

"The temple had a mosaic floor?" That was another random bit of information that fueled her curiosity. "It's on Coruscant? Do you know where? In the Jedi temple there? Oh how much I'd love to see that, mosaic floors are so pretty. I'm glad they managed to collect a few things though, considering how little there's left." Clove paused, and looked towards Ephiny for a moment. "It is great how a station like the Exis Station helped the Jedi out. I assume most of the people who helped weren't even Jedi. That's very kind of them."

It was exciting to be in a spaceport again because it held so much bubbling life. No matter where you looked, you could almost always find something or somebody. Even the spaceport on Ossus, a planet that had turned into a desert thanks to a supernova, had life in it. The kind Archivist had guided them to a bathroom, and Clove gave her a grateful smile before washing her hands as properly as she could.

"Yeh! I brought a sandwich. But only one. If you'd like we can share? It's a pretty big one so that's no problem! It's chicken, do you mind?" She didn't want Ephiny to grow hungry, and sure sharing a sandwich would mean both got... less than preferable, but that beats somebody getting hungry!

Clove’s excitement never ceased to amaze Ephiny. The girl seemed to find beauty in everything she heard and saw. The Archivist was really appreciating her company and being able to teach her. “The mosaic is at the Jedi Temple of Coruscant. After the fall of the Empire, the Temple became an attraction for tourists, so we can go there to see it. Although there are rumors that Chancellor Ro is going to give the Temple back to the Order.

After they washed their hands, the two would walk to the balcony. The Archivist smiled at Clove’s offer of sharing her sandwich. The half-Sephi was so kind. “Thank you, but it isn’t necessary. I brought some too and it’s also chicken! I only asked because if you didn’t bring it, I was going to give one too you or offer to buy you something. Although, I don’t like processed food so much.” she said to the Padawan. Having lived on a farm, Ephiny had grown up eating little processed food. Much of what was used in her family's meals was produced by themselves.

When they arrived at the balcony, Ephiny chose a table in a place that allowed them to see the horizon. After seating, the Archivist would wait for the Padawan to take a seat. “I also brought a bottle with juice that we can share.” she picked her bag and pulled from it the bottle, two cups and a plastic container with two sandwiches. The Archivist had brought another one for the case of Clove forgetting about it. "Since I have two, we can split the last one. What do you think?"

While filling a cup with juice for the half-Sephi, Ephiny thought that now could be a good moment to talk with the Padawan about other things than history facts. “Clove, how was your life before joining the Order?

Clove smiled brightly at Ephiny as she explained how she, too, had brought chicken and disliked processed food. "That's very kind of you; thank you very much. And I can't say I blame you! Processed foods always taste... stranger. Everything is so much better when it's fresh! Although, I do have a weakness for those really cheap big chocolate cookies. But don't tell anyone."

The view from the balcony was breathtaking, and it only got better when Ephiny led them both to a table with a horizon view. She gladly took a seat in front of the archivist and opened her leather bag on her lap. She rummaged through it while listening and raised her eyes for a split second to meet Ephiny's. "Oh! I haven't had juice in a long time. That'd be great. If you don't mind, I'd also like to share. Because I'd love to try your sandwich!"

The half-Sephi finally found her own sandwich in a plastic container, fished it out of the bag, and placed it on top of the table. Then Ephiny broke the brief silence with an unexpected question, and her hands stopped fiddling with the container for a moment.

She had never liked talking about herself too much, and this was no exception. It wasn't that the story was depressing or anything; it just didn't feel right. But she didn't have the heart to refuse Ephiny's kind question, so she ignored her own discomfort as much as she could.

"Well." Clove opened the container and gave a brief glance at the sandwich before continuing with a faint smile. "To be honest, I've been pretty lucky. I was born and raised on Ralltiir by two wonderful parents who ran a medical clinic in a popular tourist destination. My father was the doctor, and my mother was in charge of everything that wasn't doctory-related." She let out a laugh, remembering her mother's annoyance whenever she was credited for being a receptionist and not else than that. "She's also an incredible seamstress."

"Anyway, I spent the majority of my childhood with them. My father tried to teach me everything he knew so that I could help him, as a type of homeschooling. However, the resort eventually dried out, and the clinique was forced to close. We moved to a small farm, and from there I decided to do something useful with my knowledge, which led me to the Jedi. Or well, the Jedi found me. And here I am!"

Having answered the question, Clove grabbed the sandwich out of the container and took a small bite off the side. "How about you, if you don't mind me asking?" she asked after finishing chewing.

Ephiny smiled at Clove. "Yes, I also don't like how processed food tastes. But no fear, I'll not tell the others that you like these cookies." the Archivist said, reassuring the Padawan. Even if she didn't like this type of food, the Knight would never reprimand the people that liked it. She knew that on many planets, it was the only food that the common people had access to.

While Clove started to tell how her life was before joining the Order, Ephiny would pick one of her sandwiches from the plastic container and start to eat it. After hearing the Padawan say that her father tried to teach her what he knew about medicine, the Archivist wondered if it would help the half-Sephi learn Force healing more quickly. After all, the girl would have some understanding of physiology.

The Knight stopped eating to answer Clove's question. She smiled at the girl, reassuring her that it wasn’t a problem. "I was born in the agriworld of Uyter. My parents had a farm there, where I lived with them, my siblings and my grandmother. I grew up with my grandmother's stories about the Jedi Order. Before marrying she was a pilot. These stories made me want to be a Jedi." at this moment, Ephiny felt some nostalgia.

"One day, I was going with my siblings to the capital, so we could sell the crops there. While we traveled, we were attacked by thieves. However, a Jedi saved us. My parents invited him to stay on our farm. He soon identified that I was a Force user and invited me to join the Order. My grandmother helped me convince my parents to allow me to go with the Jedi. Then here I'm!" she explained, smiling to the Padawan. Sometimes Ephiny missed her family, but she would never regret having joined the Jedi Order.

After the two finished their sandwiches, Ephiny would pick her second one and split it, giving one of the halves to the half-Sephi. Then she remembered about needing to talk with the Padawan about her project "Clove, I want to ask you something. Do you like young adult novels?"

"I've been working on a historical novel, about a young padawan and his master, both fictional characters, going to their first mission together. The historical background would be the invasion of Naboo by the Trade Federation. During the story, the padawan would interact with some historical characters such as Master Yoda and Finis Valorum. Except these two characters, all that is in the novel are faithful to the historical events." she paused, watching the girl's reaction "I talked with Master Voran and she agreed to read it before giving her approval. If she approves, would you be interested in being the first to read it? Since the novel is for people of your age."

"I'm doing this, because there is already so much work made against the Jedi that I thought that it was time to have something positive about the Order. So I hope to show how the Jedi used to help the Republic in the past." she explained to the Padawan. Ephiny agreed that the Jedi Order in the past had many problems, but it also did good things. They weren't these crazy cultists that people like Lîsabé Hanivel told in their holobooks, if you could call these piles of Bantha fodder as holobooks.

Ephiny's description of her life on the farm with her grandmother made her smile brightly between bites of her sandwich. It was beautiful how the entire family stayed together, and she could only imagine how close they must have been. It also explained the Archivist's dislike for processed foods and her general kindness; the life of a hard worker, such as a farmer, teaches a lot of morals that shape you for the rest of your life. "Master Daivand, it sounds like you have a wonderful family. I'm glad. You deserve all of that happiness!"

Even though she enjoyed her own sandwich, it paled in comparison to half of the sandwich Ephiny served her. Even though if she wasn't sure if she was biased, because she knew that food that wasn't her own always tasted better. Nevertheless, it was delicious, and it caused her to softly swing from left to right every few seconds.

By the time they were done, Ephiny had broken the silence and asked about Young adult novels. "I've read a few of them, yeh! Some are pretty lovely." She replied, and then continued to listen to Ephiny talk about her project with such passion. It was difficult for her to remain objective, but she would do her best.

Huh.

It sounded interesting, a young adult historical novel set in the year based on a young Jedi and their Master and their first mission together... Was it 30 years ago? 35 years ago? Not only was the historical backdrop one of war, which people her age enjoyed reading about, but it was also very important. The invasion of Naboo was an important moment in the history of basically the entire galaxy.

Such a clever way to get the people around her age to learn more about the Jedi.

"I like it, Master Daivand. It's a very very smart idea. Not only will it show the people how the Jedi actually are, or were back in the day,but it will also teach them a lot of important history. I'm hoping Master Voran approves because I'd love to read it!" Her tone was genuine, as was the excitement in her eyes. "It would be great to spread some positivity."

"For how long have you been writing the novel?" She asked, while grabbing the empty container and stuffing it back into her bag.

Ephiny’s face became red with what Clove had said. She never had thought about her life this way before. For her it was normal. "Thank you! I think that everyone deserves to be happy." The Archivist said, smiling at the half-Sephi. When she was a young padawan, after reading about the Sith Order, the Knight would think if they would still fall to the Darkness if they had more happiness in their lives.

However, after she grew up, Ephiny learned that there are more circumstances behind the fall of someone to the Dark side. Fear, hatred and pain are some of the things that can cause the fall. Even people that had happy lives could become an implacable Sith. Becoming a monster, like the ones that attacked Ajan Kloss.

Looking at how kind and sweet Clove was, the Archivist hoped that she would never meet a Sith in battle. Given the state of the Jedi Order and how their war against the Dark siders wasn't going well, the Knight knew that it was inevitable. She could only hope that the Padawan would not suffer when this happens. Even Ephiny was afraid when the time came for her to face a Sith.

"I'm happy that you liked my idea! With this novel I want to really give to the Galaxy a positive opinion about the Jedi Order." after Clove asked when she had started writing the novel, Ephiny started to think about it. "It all started four years ago, when I first read a biography that a certain journalist called Lîsabé Hanivel made about Master Luke Skywalker. It was terrible and very offensive." the Archivist grimaced, thinking about the time that she lost reading it. "Then I noticed that it's a trend among writers. Many of them write bad things about the Jedi Order and most of the time it was all false! So I decided that it was time for something positive and historically correct."

"I need to confess that when I was a child, I always loved to make stories. The plot of this novel is more or less based on one of these." her face became red after talking about it. Thinking about what she used to do when she was young, made the Knight notice how all of it was silly. "For two years I searched for all the historical facts that I would use in the novel. I wanted it to be as faithful as possible to the real events. Then I finished writing early this year. I hope that Master Voran likes it."

After they finished eating the sandwiches, Ephiny would put her plastic container and bottle back into her bag. "Clove, I think that we can finish our field class now and return to the Temple. I already explained to you all the facts about Ossus and I need to arrange our class in the medical bay." she said, smiling at the half-Sephi. She really like this opportunity to teach the girl. "On the next trip, we'll go to Typhon. Maybe I could make it open to others. Do you know other Padawans that would like to participate?"

Clove smiled brightly at the Archivist as she explained how much she wanted to improve the galaxy's perception of the Jedi. "Lîsabé Hanivel. I think I've heard of her before. She's on the holonet a lot, isn't she? Blonde curly hair?" Clove paused for a moment. "I don't like her. I'm sure she's a lovely lady, but as a journalist?! No." It was sad to see how many people had a skewed view of the Jedi, and how authors milked it and only made it worse.

But thankfully the galaxy had sweet kind souls like Ephiny, who wanted to bring change.

"What a genius idea! Using something you've already written as a base and improving it. Two years spent looking for all of those facts is a long time... And, you know what, I'm confident Master Voran will enjoy it! After two years of research, how could she not!? And if she doesn't, I'm going to have a serious talk with her." Grandmaster Voran was intimidating, but Clove was confident she could persuade her after meeting her on Halloween. She'd give it her best shot. Ephiny deserved it.

"That sounds wonderful, Master Daivand. I'm looking forward to the next lesson!" The half-Sephi returned the Archivist's smile and began to collect whatever litter she had thrown on top of the table, intending to throw it away once they returned home. "Hmmm. To be honest, I don't know too many Padawans. Xiann? But I've never seen her in lessons or classes. Drastus and Sabatha are in the same boat. Although I believe Sabatha would enjoy a trip like this." Clove pushed back her chair and got to her feet while thinking aloud. "Perhaps Ruzaan or Arctus?"

The half-Sephi swung her leather bag over her shoulder and corrected the strap. "The ship I arrived with is docked on the northern side. How about yours?"

Yes, she is. Hanivel is very famous due to her infamous tabloids and biographies. I also dislike her.” Now Ephiny was certain that Clove was really a very kind girl. The half-Sephi was capable of even seeing goodness in someone like Lîsabé, it made her smile. The Galaxy needed more people like the Padawan.

When Clove said that her idea was genius, Ephiny couldn’t stop herself from blushing again. It was so strange to be complimented this way. Most of the time people were annoyed with her babbling. “I hope so. I’m happy that I have your support!” the Archivist said to the Padawan. As had become a common occurrence during this class field, the Knight smiled at the half-Sephi.

It was impossible to not smile when talking with Clove, she was so sweet and kind. If she wasn’t already the Padawan of Jedi Knight Crix, Ephiny would have asked the girl to be her Master. “I’ll approach these Padawans to see if they are interested.” she said to Clove, after the girl listed some of her friends that could be interested in having history classes.

The ship that brought me is docked in the southern side.” Ephiny rose from her seat, while putting her bag’s strap on her shoulder. She would offer to walk with the Padawan, until the corridor split in two. “This is where we say goodbye, for now. We will meet many more times in the Temple. After all, I still need to teach you how to heal other people.” she smiled at Clove. “I loved teaching you. You are a very smart and kind girl! I hope to teach you again soon! Take care!” saying that, the Archivist would walk toward the place where her transport was.

"The southern side. Well! At the very least, we'll be able to go for a short walk together!" The half-Sephi smiled warmly at the Archivist. She adjusted the strap of her leather bag one more time before following the Jedi Knight down the corridors. She walked with a happy skip in her step; she had had an incredible day and was glowing from head to toe. She had considered ways to thank the Archivist, but nothing came to mind. Mostly because she couldn't think of anything grand enough to express her gratitude to Ephiny, and Ephiny deserved the best. So when the time came, she had nothing but a simple 'thank you' planned.

They eventually arrived at the corridor, and Ephiny turned to her to tell her goodbye. "Master Daivand, I can't wait. You're a wonderful teacher, and I appreciate everything you've done today. I'm glad I had the courage to approach you for help." Clove's cheeks flushed with a soft pink hue as she received the compliment. "Take care, Master Daivand! Safe travels, and may the Force be with you!"

Clove turned around and began walking towards the ship, waving goodbye to the Archivist as she walked away. She wished she didn't have to board because she hoped she could stay with Ephiny for much longer. But she had other things to do, so she reluctantly boarded the ship and took a seat near one of the windows.

Before she withdrew into her daydreams and the day came to an end, her final few thoughts lingered on today's lesson and the warmth that was Ephiny. This really had been a day to never forget.
