Once again, the Head Admiral Malas Prewett found himself in a different yet identical training simulator room- a large circular chamber approximately twenty meters in diameter with a bowl-shaped inset in the floor lined with holoprojectors. It was dim in the training room, but the High Admiral stood out- the human in a crisp, customized uniform always stood out.

He waited for the officer to arrive.

Garth hurried through the halls, making his way through the brightly lit corridors are a brisk pace. His freshly ironed uniform was clean and pristine, his hair glossed back and his dark eyes alight with the fire of determination.

The Chiss turned down a corner, searching for the correct room number before stopping at the designated training room. It was early yet Garth felt bright and refreshed if not a tad worried that he was about to go into a simulation with the High Admiral of the Ascendancy. The young Lieutenant hoped to demonstrate tactical prowess and prove an asset to the Imperator and his Navy, and this was a large stepping stone towards this goal.

With a deep breath to center himself Garth depressed a red button to the left of the door and entered. The High Admiral stood in the center of the circular chamber, a large room and dimly lighted. The human Admiral's uniform was a beacon of military strength and the picture of Ascendancy naval excellence. While many Chiss were highly xenophobic Garth himself had no problem with the Admiral and respected his abilities in the naval field to not be underestimated.

The Lieutenant immediately straightened to attention, snapping off a crisp salute. "Sir, Lieutenant Erak'garth'nuroudo reporting in for naval command simulation, sir," he reeled off, his deep voice strong yet betraying a hint of blatant fear. The Admiral was an intimidating figure, but bearing and respect had been drilled so deep into him at the Ascendancy's naval academy he had no choice but to act on instinct.

The Head Admiral nodded at the young officer- the professionalism and precision of the young man was noted.

"Yes, Garth, welcome to your Ascendancy review. As you know, my name is Head Admiral Malas Prewett, and I will be issuing your test." The holoprojector came live, and the Head Admiral nodded- the programmers were getting better.

"You read the manual- all you need to do is speak your commands aloud and they will be followed. Please make them clear and thorough- explain your motives, as I'm more interested in those than the results."

The Head Admiral inserted a datadisk.

"We'll be doing a deployment strategy first to warm up. On your screen is a scenario of an Alliance world under attack. Deploy your forces in the best way to continue the attack. Information is onscreen."

The red circles represent planetary defense platforms. The filled red squares are Republic Star Destroyers, while the empty red squares are medium cruisers. Light vessels and starfighters are not shown.

Your forces: Six Imperial-II class Star Destroyers
Eight Victory-class Star Destroyer
Two Broadside Cruisers

(( I love you for using Empire at War units ;) ))

Garth nodded, taking in the tactical scenario. Numerous responses flowed through his mind as he analyzed and pondered the right course of action. He decided to fall back on his academy experience while adding in a twist to the side wing formations.

"To start, a group of three Imp Star Deuces would drop out of hyperspace in a loose arrow formation, the point aiming towards the center of their defenses; off the edges of each would be my Broadside cruisers, being positioned diagonally towards their respective side, left and right, to break up the clusters of ships that've grouped together like the star destroyer with two mediums set up behind her."

"Then, spread out in two wing-type formations would be my remaining Imp Stars and my Victories. Each wing be designed to swoop in and around and try and shuffle the outlying forces inwards, to within reach of my Imp Star arrow and Broadside range. As they're pushed in my center-most force is able to contain them and systemically destroy them with missile and turbolaser barrages while my Victories clean up the space platforms and any remapping pockets of resistance."

(( Very crude representation but I spent like 45 minutes trying to get the proportions and placing right, even though it didn't turn out great at all; this is just to base off of my written description for visual reference ))
Solid squares are Imperial-II class Star Destroyers
Outlined squares are Victory-II class Star Destroyers
Solid circles are Broadside-missile cruisers

((OOC: Thanks for all the hard work drawing, it really helped to clarify.))

The Head Admiral nodded as the ships came into formation, studying how the ideal movements would go. It was an interesting maneuver and certainly different than what he would have tried, though not inherently wrong.

"The idea to bring ships to your guns is a good one. It keeps a constant in the battlefield, something that usually only the defender has. The key problem with your idea is how far the 'wings' extend. Your Victory classes, while sturdy, could suffer severe damage from combined attacks from the Republic Star Destroyers and the weapons platforms. If they move ship by ship, they could take out a good portion of your line before getting close enough for the Broadside cruisers to hit." The Simulator faded out.

"Still, it was a different idea, which is wonderful. Most officers stay in regulation formations, which even a Sith could counter." The Simulator darkened again and the images reappeared.

"This is later in the battle, after your plan has worked. Unfortunately, a mobile planetary shield has been deployed- a new technology that projects a near impenetrable energy bubble on forces with the correct code. We do not have this code, and as a result, our ships are being pummeled and cannot effectively return fire." The Simulator zoomed into a tighter view of a dozen starfighters and a modified light freighter.

"You are now looking at a detachment from Blackthorn Squadron- some of the finest pilots that the Ascendancy has to offer. Please review your datascreen for information regarding the ships."

12x Clawcraft Starfighters
1x Barloz-class Freighter *NOTE: Laser cannon removed to make room for a Concussion Missile Launcher. Two specialized warheads are loaded for the mission.

"Your mission is simple. Using only the forces available, find the ship and destroy it."

((OOC: You only have direct control over this unit. You can request outside support for distractions, bombardments, etc, but energy cannot pass the shields (ships can). We don't need a map for this round, so assume you're in a calm area and can enter the shield at your own pace.))
