A depressed sigh escaped Segri as she sat alone by the bar counter. A drink was in one hand and a cigarette was in the other. A dozen other glasses would have been around her if the droids weren't so tidy...not that she could blame them. After the first few glasses were shattered, it was easy to understand why they kept taking them away.

She dumped the shot glass down her throat, not even flinching as the alcohol burned. It tasted more like fuel, but it helped her for the first two hours to take her mind off her position, to help her forget. But now her memory was crystal clear. She was a wreck. A failure. She had broken out of the gangster's life to try and do something with her life that she could be proud of. But all she did was more of the same. She drank away her money, poisoned herself with various substances, merely continuing with the life she tried to leave behind. She was a mess.

As she ordered another one she merely stared at the cigarette, losing all taste for it completely. After the drink arrived she also lost the taste for that and decided to kill the cigarette in the drink. With a groan she slipped off the chair and onto her feet...only barely maintaining her balance. She stumbled along the path and out the door, only getting as far as the alley on the side of the cantina. She leaned against the wall, resting her head against her arm as she tried to keep her wits together. But it was no use. After a few moments she dropped to a knee and emptied her stomach in the sand. "Kark me..." she mumbled to herself before being interrupted by another barrage of bile.

Riz'kacha had been there too, of course. She kept an eye on the patrons coming and going through the cantina as she nursed her own drinks, feeling that this early in the day wasn't a great time to get shit-faced. She gave her droid (@Lavi) reassuring pats as she continued to drink and watch people, every now and then giving it little rubs on the photorecepter that he seemed to like so much.

Of all the patrons, the Zabrak in the room had interested her. She hadn't seen any Zabrak with hair that long before; the ones she'd seen previously usually chose to cut it short. The tattoos struck her as interesting, their color standing out in the crowd of sand-dusted citizens. Of course, there was also the fact that the woman was drinking herself into the ground. As she got up and made her way to the alley, Riz'kacha's connection to the force made her feel... Something wrong.

Of course, the Twi'lek followed the woman out of the the cantina to check up on her, "C'mon, Beedee. I don't think she's doing well." Once she got over to the alleyway and was treated to the sights, sounds, and smells present, she covered her nose a bit to try to hide the obvious, finally speaking after a moment, "...Are you alright? I think it is for the best that you stop drinking for the day."

As Segri caught her breath between the heaves, someone spoke up beside her. She turned her head to look up at the Twi'lek. Usually her thoughts would have went straight down the gutter with someone as pretty as her, but right now she didn't want to do anything. She sniffed, wrinkling her nose as the smell and bile stung her senses. "I ain't touching a drink again. I ain't touching anything again. Now kark off, I don't want company." she said with a voice dripping with misery, before lurching and dumping another wave of black fluid on the ground. She was done with everything.

She stumbled back and leaned against the wall behind her, brushing her dreadlocks out of her face. "I'm really not in a good spot, alright. So just go away." she tried to shoo her away, but the pitiful attempt would probably not have any effect on the Twi'lek. Segri wiped her mouth off and gave another sniff, though this was for a completely different reason. "Wait..." she spoke up again, turning to look at the stranger. "Got any water on you or something?" she asked her weakly as she slumped down against the wall.

There she sat, staring at nothing in particular. But the heavy thoughts clouding her mind was pushing her back into some dark places.

As much as Riz'kacha wanted to help, the woman heaving before her wasn't making it easy. Then again, her plead for solitude was punctuated with another torrent of black fluid. Ew. Clearly, she wasn't just drinking. Alcohol didn't usually make that happen. This poor woman was probably on a whole host of other substances as well.

Riz would've healed the woman if she knew how to use force healing, but for now she'd settle for giving her water. She pulled a canteen off from her belt, unscrewed the lid, and offered it out to her. "Here. How'd you get into this position?" She was curious as to why this woman was in such a rough spot. Things were rough on most everyone right now, she knew, but this seemed a bit excessive. Did she really see no alternative than to do this to herself?

Segri accepted the canteen and carefully poured the water into her mouth without touching the bottle. She washed out her mouth several times before finally taking a long sip of it and washing her face off. She finished off the canteen and sat back, staring at the wall in front of her.

The woman's question made her turn her head away. "I messed up, okay. I messed up bad, and then messed up again and again. At least I feel something other than failure when I'm high as a kite and drunk off my ass." she answered rather curtly. She looked up at the woman with fuzzy eyes, the alcohol clearly getting to her. "Though clearly you haven't been in a position like that, otherwise you'd know." she said harshly. At the same time she regretted saying that. "I've....I've been through hell, alright!" she admitted rather loudly. "This is all I know! Alright! Either killing myself like this or jumping head first into a heist! If I were smarter, I would have offed myself long ago!" she was close to tears, but she held them back as she confessed to the total stranger in her drunken stupor.

She struggled to her feet then turned to face the Twi'lek. "But if you think I'll let those rats in the Underworld win that easy, think again." she said proudly as she leaned against the wall. The canteen slipped from her fingers, receiving a muttered "Oh kark off, you karkin'...kark.". She tried to bend over and pick it up, but every time she almost fell over.

With a growl she reached a hand out. "Get over here!" she ordered the canteen. As if by magic, it obeyed. It flew into her hand before she started stumbling her way into the streets. "You're cute, but not my type. I need someone with lower standards at this point." she said as she came to a halt beside her, trying to figure out which way to go. "Where's my ship..." she mumbled as she turned back around.

Beedee had followed Riz'kacha into the alleyway after the troubled patron. Although it was clear to both that the patron was less-than-well, there wasn't much that Beedee could offer to actually help. He carried a large supply of health stims, but that is for physical injuries: the Zabrak was merely suffering severe chemical imbalances. The droid simply watched in the meantime, keeping an eye out in case the Zabrak's health took a turn for the worse... Well, worse than it looks right now, at least.

When the Zabrak dropped Riz'kacha's canteen, BD-9 walked over to help pick it back up. But when it suddenly lurched off the ground and into the Zabrak's hand, the droid leaped back like a loth-cat with a surprised twitter.

// Was that you? // the droid asked, looking at Riz'kacha.

From all his time with the young Jedi, BD-9 never seen Riz'kacha use the Force so casually, so it probably isn't her. But there are few possible explanations to the contrary.

Riz'kacha's face twisted into one of anger for just a moment at the Zabrak's words, before she calmed just as quickly. Emotion, yet peace. Her gaze shifted back to the woman as she continued her drunken rant, not sure exactly how to respond. She clearly wasn't in the best place in her life right now. Riz'kacha also was about to reach for the canteen, but stopped short as the woman brought it to her hands by herself.

Looking to Beedee, she shook her head, "No, that wasn't me, Beedee. Looks like our friend here's got the force in her." Standing up straight once more, she used the force to spin the woman around, and looked her straight in the eye, "Listen up. I may not have had as hard a life as you, but I have experienced failure. I was in that attack against the Coruscant prison last week, and there were Jedi among the casualties that I knew. If I had been a better combatant, they might still be standing here today."

She paused, reaching down to give BD-9 a pat on the head before continuing, "But that doesn't mean it's okay to give up. We both have a gift. The Force. I just saw it when you lifted that canteen back up to your hands. It sets us apart from most people, and it allows us to accomplish much while we still walk these planets. No matter how far down life you are, it isn't over for you. You can still join the Order." She didn't want to say too much, lest she overwhelm the poor woman, but she knew that this might just be what she needed to turn her life around.

Segri was completely caught off guard as she magically spun around with no intention of doing so. She stumbled and fell back against the wall, trying to maintain her balance while the tail-head scolded her. She wasn't sure if she was angry or sad over the fact that she was being scolded. She didn't like it. But that didn't matter, because she didn't understand what the woman was saying for even a moment. With large amethyst eyes she simply stared at her, not understanding anything she was saying.

"Wait, what..." she mumbled. "Coruscant prison got attacked? HAH! That'll teach those sick skugs." she blurted out, quite happy to hear that some of the people she knew would never be a problem to her ever again. The woman continued...but what she said next took Segri completely by surprise.

The smug grin faded as she eyed her skeptically for several moments. "The force? Are you being serious?" she asked her, straightening out suddenly as if she sobered right up. "Listen lady, I don't have the force. Alright? That canteen just...flew..." she glanced down at the canteen still in her hand. Her drunken thoughts started coming together. "...into..." she looked up at her. She gave a light huff in disbelief. "No karking way." she said flatly before turning to leave. But she didn't even take a step further before turning to face her again. "Me? A space wizard?! I think I would have known by now!" she spoke with a laugh. But in truth, it did make sense. Her good reflexes, sharp senses, the time where something would move without her touching it. The twi'lek was right.

She frowned as she looked away for a moment, before looking up at her again. "So, what? You want me to come with you, train up to be some virgin-ass monk who can't enjoy themselves? Just to be hunted down every couple decades?! Sure, I guess some rehab and a couple rounds in a training ring might do me some good, but why should I?" she spoke with defiance, trying to stand by what she heard and knew about Jedi. The two she met didn't exactly convince her that it was worth joining.

But that was all on the surface. What her mind was telling her. But deep down she was thinking hard about it. Maybe this twi'lek was giving her exactly what she was looking for...

"What...what's it gonna be like?" she asked timidly as she hugged herself, leaning against the wall again.

BD-9 accepted the pat on the head as Riz'kacha explained everything to the Zabrak. Denial seemed like a natural response, but at least the Zabrak was able to piece everything together in her drunken haze.

The oversimplification of what Jedi training is like might be that accurate, but there is some semblance of a reality within it. However, from what Beedee could gather from what it means to join the Order, is actually quite different.

// Finding a purpose seems to be how this unit would describe Jedi training. // Beedee offered, regardless of whether the Zabrak understood him or not.

He looked up at Riz'kacha. The droid only met his companion after she had already joined the Jedi Order, but he suspected that the Twi'lek also lived a very different life prior to becoming a Jedi.

Riz'kacha couldn't have said it better herself. Considering her life before joining the order was likely heading nowhere because of her less than stellar record as a bounty hunter, she was happy that she had a purpose. Even if it brought with it some uncertainty. "Like my friend said, oftentimes joining the order is good because it provides a purpose. A goal to strive for, even if you are currently struggling in your own life. Before I joined, I didn't know I had the force. I just thought that I had been lucky, or had some sort of good intuition." She gestured to Segri, finding their similarities rather evident.

She knew that she should offer a more practical incentive as well, of course. Segri seemed like a practical woman, even under her rough exterior. It was a tough sell to get someone like that into the order, especially when it came to what many considered the restrictive practices of the Jedi. "I am aware that many of the stories about Jedi paint them as emotionless monks, but that couldn't be far from the truth. That was more or less what the Jedi tried to practice before the end of the Clone Wars, but it ultimately led to their downfall. Our order attempt to correct their mistakes by following a revised and renewed version of their code that allows for more self-expression. One of the survivors of the Coruscant Prison attack, a Jedi, lost his lover in the fighting. A woman who was my master."

Not necessarily a way of compensating the woman, but it probably still offered at least a small amount of comfort in knowing that her freedoms weren't going to be dashed. Still, despite her tone, it was evident that the Twi'lek still carried a great bit of reverence for the Jedi. For her, they were childhood heroes and paragons of virtue. She'd come to learn that the truth was a little bit more skewed, but she still counted herself lucky to be among their ranks.

Segri stood in place, slightly swaying as she listened to the woman's every word. When she finally finished, Segri didn't move an inch. She stared at her with glassy amethyst eyes, biting her lower lip, thinking long and hard. For several moments the only sounds from her was her scraping against the wall and her heavy breathing.

She finally came back to life with a loud sigh. Her head drooped for a bit as she came to a decision. She walked up to the Twi'lek and pressed a finger into her chest. "You better be ri..." she trailed off as she spun to the side and hurled one last barrage of black bile into the alley. She stepped back with a groan and wiped her mouth off while pushing her dreadlocks out of her face with her clean hand. "You better be right about this. Because if I end up with a bolt in my gut thinking 'that harpy lied to me' I'm coming after you." she grumbled irritably. It made no rational sense but to the Zabrak coming down from cloud nine it made perfect sense. "Now do you have a secret club house or something I need to go find or how does it work? I'm not gonna try and fly anywhere, especially not now. So just give me the coordinates or something and I'll meet you there." she said as she started to move past her to try and remember which way her ship was.

That plan quickly changed as she looked down at the droid. "By the way, you're adorable. I want you." she commented with a giggle. "Can you, like, scan where my ship is?"

BD-9 bounced out of the way as the final volley of vomit poured out of the Zabrak. He shook a limb to make sure that there wasn't any bile on him as he watched the two speak. If the Zabrak needed coordinates, the droid is more than capable of providing. When said Zabrak looked down at the droid, Beedee fully expected to hear the question come.

Beedee waved his antennae in response to the Zabrak's compliment and giggle, as he would for any one else. But the question finally came. Her ship?

The droid peered in the direction that the Zabrak originally went. Then looked back down the opposite direction of the alley. If the Zabrak was looking for any sort of ship, one could easily be found. Even on a remote planet like Tatooine.

// This unit is capable of assisting, but what model of ship should this unit be looking for? // he asked.

The Twi'lek watched the Zabrak closely, keeping an eye on her movements. Mostly, she was just hoping to be ready to help in case the woman collapsed or something. It had been a long time since the Twi'lek herself had been in such a tumultuous situation, but with how much the woman was throwing up... She wanted to be safe rather than sorry.

Finally, the woman seemed to assent to the idea of joining the Jedi, and the apprentice let out a sigh of relief she didn't know she was holding in. For one, it was a little bit risky to reveal yourself as a Jedi. For two, she didn't want the woman to misuse her powers. It was much more fortuitous that she assented. "I can send you the coordinates, definitely. But do know that the place is well fortified, and if there are any unauthorized visitors they will likely be shot down. You will be alright, of course, but I say this mostly just for security reasons."

She watched the drunk woman talk to her droid, the usual pings of jealousy hitting her as yet another person seemed tempted to have her droid for their own, but otherwise let the interaction play out on its own.

In this state her attention span was only that long, so everything the Twi'lek said pretty much went over her head. At least she caught the part about getting coordinates which was a relief. The droid, however, was what her attention was focused on for the moment. By some miracle she managed to understand its beeps. Its question was her next big obstacle.

"It's the...ummm." she clutched her forehead to try and remember the name. "It's...man, it's that funky orange one I stole on Coruscant." she rambled in thought. She looked up at The Twi'lek with squinted eyes. "Man, it's...it's like a poor retarded imitation of a Corellian ship. It's the Express-something or other." she explained, trying her hardest to remember the name. All she could remember was her droid's name which was of little use to her now. That adorable little ball of uselessness was never there when she needed it.

Her attention shifted once more to the Twi'lek as a silly grin spread on her lips. "You're almost as cute as your droid. What's your name?" she asked her as she tried to wrap an arm around her shoulders. A task which quickly turned into her almost losing her footing.

With the not-so-glamourous descriptors, Beedee was able to get started on scanning nearby ships. A resemblance to Corellian design, a register that may include 'Express' in its name, aaaaaaaand...

// This unit was able to locate a "Quad-Five" Express Courier starcraft that matched the descriptions provided! // the little droid gladly twittered.

As was typical, Beedee was completely oblivious to Riz'kacha's moment of jealousy. After all, BD units are meant to be helpful.

Seeing as Beedee had the ship handled, the Twi'lek's more pressing matter was the Zabrak's question. "My name is Riz'kacha, but many people just call me Riz. What is your name? Apologies for not asking earlier, it had slipped my mind." She didn't seem to acknowledge the compliment she was given. The Twi'lek figured that it was the result of the woman's drinks; either that, or she flirted with everyone. She certainly didn't put it past her.

That wasn't to say she thought poorly of the woman, however. Despite her gruff exterior, she did seem to maintain some sort of innocence that Riz felt would be best put to use amongst her fellows in the Order. Hopefully they would be able to hone what skills the woman had and put them to use for the right reasons. Hopefully that came with more control for the woman as well, and less days like this. Time would tell.

"I'm uh...Segri! I'm Segri." she thankfully remembered her name, a rare occurrence indeed. The droid sounded like it found her ship, but she wasn't exactly sure. She just had to put faith in it. "Yeah I think that's it. I dunno, I can't think now. Just take me to it." she said with a wave of her hand as she tried to get her thoughts together.

She could only hope that Riz, or whatever, would help her out. Though she was making a very strong mental note over who was signing up for all the Jedi nonsense. Just in case it backfired and she needed to remember who to beat into a pulp. At least she felt some form of satisfaction that she could finally start getting her life together...at least she hoped that was happening and this wasn't some scam to join a freaky cult or something again.

All in all, Segri might do good with some sobering up...but only after suffering first with one hell of a hangover.
