The sun was still high over the vast forests of Kashyyyk. His first real mission in weeks, he had jumped at the opportunity to do something other than drink his credits away at the Quick Draw. It sounded simple enough. Travel to the home world of the walking carpets to find and collect the the roots of the Orga plant. According to the contact the roots had special properties and was required for the celebrations to come with Life Day just around the corner.

Having never been to the jungle world, Covax landed his ship in the startport of Rwookrrorro. He picked it only because the mountain was the highest point on the planet and the port was easy to find. Here he would his fly home and take the smaller more maneuverable shuttle into the Shadowlands. However first he needed a meal, and perhaps a drink. If he was lucky perhaps even some local knowledge on where to find these fables plants.

Leaving his ship for the local port droids to fit and fuel, he make the short walk into the mountain city and quickly found what he was looking for. A local watering whole where it seemed like travelers were welcome. Behind the bar of the cantina was female Wookie who must have been two or three feet talller than the towering merc and easily had him by fifty pounds.

She leaned over the bar, asking something in Shyrilwook, not that Covax knew the language. Mostly sounding like yelling and gurgling to the merc. "ahh, Poodoo, um..." He stammered.

It had been a long time since she had been to Kashyyyk. Ever since recovering her medical team and helping the Wookies with their own AMS troubles, she had been invited by a few clan heads to come to the planet. She was seeking a particular plant, one with almost mythical properties. In her modified seat, Silvi had dozed off, wrapped up in a blanket from the nanny droid. The girl was getting older; so was Ilana. She was too old for nanny droids and, as far as she claimed, the magic of Life Day, but this was what time she had. Even if Amariel would have rather spent it at home, watching old holovids with her daughter... she needed this.

"Mama, I have to use the bathroom."

She glanced up from her visor, and the young girl had slipped into a slight pout, sleep still tugging on the corners of her face. Amariel could feel her own features soften, and she smiled, patting the girl on the knee. "Soon as I get to port, we'll find a Cantina, alright little star?"

The rest of the trip went fairly easily; with her own recovery and plans beginning to pull along, Amariel could pursue a few other things. The rumors of the Orga plant were impossible to resist, and though Silvi was small, she was fast, and smart on her feet. She could trust her daughter to handle her own if necessary.

When at last there was a quiet place to stop, she made sure to pull her hood over her head, and Silvi followed suit.

It was the sound of the Wookie that made her smile. But a familiar presence... that familiar figure.

She paused, then cocked her head in confusion, her voice a light lilt at his stammering back.

"Shane...?"

He stood there, bellied up to the bar. Trying to see if he could make out a single word the furry woman was trying to say. It was impossible. However is could guess that given the location she was likely asking him what he needed or wanted to drink. After all, it was a cantina.

He was about to order his usual when a voice suddenly called to him. By his first name. A look of utter confusion crossed his face. Only one living person in the entire galaxy called him by his first name. "Can't be.....can it?" He asked the Wookie before turning to confirm for himself what he already knew to be true.

"Doc?" He said, still calling her by his name for her despite the fact they had been friends for some time now. Suddenly he moved from the bar and went to move in close. Perhaps to hug. "You're the last person I expected to see here?" He asked and suddenly noticed the tiny Sith lord lurking in IIana's shadow. "And who's this?"

Her lips twitched at his nickname for her; she could feel Silvi staring up at her from beneath her hood, whispering Doc? questioningly before staring down the newcomer her mother seemed to know. Strange, this man wasn't the Jedi Mama seemed to be around; but he had a mechanical arm, maybe a patient?

She didn't move as Shane approached, but Amariel's lips twitched briefly, a glint in amber eyes. Despite the sides they were on, he was as open as ever. Intriguing. "Yes, well, you should know to see me in unexpected places by now." She could sense Silvi stepping closer to her, and held out a hand, gesturing. "This is---"

"Silvi Velt!"

The girl moved past her suddenly, thrusting a hand up. "Doctor Morata's my guardian. Are you her boyfriend?" Blue eyes scanned him over sharply, waiting clearly for her hand to be shaken. She found the best way to approach things was to be direct, and the two certainly seemed to know each other, so why not?

Amariel could feel her face heat, and she cleared her throat subtly. "No, Silvi. He's a friend." Golden eyes flicked up to his, and she offered a shrug. "She's very direct." However, she didn't see the need to apologize for her daughter. After all, why would she? the girl asked a fair question. It was logical that she would assume, considering that, as far as she was aware, her mother didn't have friends.

The towering merc closed withing a few feet of IIana as they were talking. His first looks of confusion quickly changing to a warm half smile that was accented by the five o'clock shadow quickly turning into scruff. Doc was one of the few people in the known verse he considered a friend, and by now he knew or at least understood she had some connection to the force. She knew things, understoond things few did. He was as always, open to her.

"You do seem to have that ability." He mused as he had finished his step. Suddenly the small hooded figure cut him off and thrust her hand out. Covax's smile never faded. Instead he took a knee and took her hand in his own. Gently enough not to shake it off, but firm enough the young woman knew he was taking her seriously, as he suspected she wanted to be. "A pleasure, Silvi. I'm Covax, you're mom here fixed me when I was broken a couple years back. Now we're just friends." He admitted.

Covax's locked eyes with IIana, who seemed a tad embarrassed."No, it's fine. Blunt and direct are good." He answered. He then stood. Then gestured over to an open booth. "if you have some time, perhaps we can catch up a little."

Seeing Silvi immediately take charge of the situation always had a funny effect on the Doctor. Where most people would barely get a reaction, seeing her daugher take charge and be unafraid even in an unfamiliar setting with someone that her mother knew...

Made her smile.

A warm, private one, as she settled a hand on Silvi's head. Soon, she would be too tall for such a gesture, but the warmth in amber eyes, however fleeting, spoke volumes of this meeting, no matter how strange nor sudden. The girl looked up at him seriously, and nodded once, blue eyes assessing as he took her proffered handshake seriously. Her Daddy told her a person's value was in their handshake... this guy must be good if he and her Mama were that close.

"Okay. It's fine, I think Mama has a boyfriend, but you're welcome!" Suddenly, the girl smiled, and released his hand, taking her mother's without hesitation. Amariel nodded once, then glanced at the female Wookie, who openly stared at this full conversation with amusement and curiosity. They weren't the only non-Wookies here, but they were being rude. Gesturing to the three of them, she then nodded to the menu, and the bartender gave a nod in return.

"Catching up would be a welcome change of pace. We needed a drink anyways, didn't we Silvi?"

The towering merc gave a warm smile toward the woman as she accepted his offer. He didn't hide it or fight it, as he often tired to around others. For some reason he just seemed to be comfortable around Doc. It was a difficult thing to describe, even to himself but the woman had the strange ability to get into his head, let his guard town.

His attention suddenly shifted back to the little girl. "I think she does to, who do you think it is?" He said, and gave her a wink. Without thinking, but rather the muscle memory of a father playing with his daughter. He took the girls hand. "Come on, lets get you a hot cocoa. Can't celebrate Life Day without cocoa". The pair of them then went to the booth an sat.

Returning his attention to the bartender, who he still didn't fully understand but got the hint she spoke a least a little basic. "A coco for myself and Iz....Silvi here. Ah, she'll have all the cream and mellows. I'll have mine with a little of that tree rum you Wookies like to make around here." He ordered. There was a smallest stumble of a name he'd not spoken since the day him and Doc met, but we sharply recovered. There was a flash of pain and then embarrassment, before returning to the moment. "What about you Doc ?"
