Tinnel IV was a world that didn’t much care for who was on top, what it cared about was who had the power to stay on top. An entire planet, seemingly, of schemers led by whoever could weather the storm of a multitude of schemes aimed at dethroning them. The schemer to rule them all or something of the like.
Which was why rather than taking the evidence to the local Police commissioner, he brought it to one of his immediate subordinates instead. The current head of ‘Tactical SWAT Deployment’ was a greedy man but Carrick didn’t much care; it worked out in his favor that the man was the kind to sell out his own mother for a handful of credits.
Because it meant he would go under both the commissioner and the Senator of Tinnel IV because of the offers Carrick had made.
Having such a weak-willed man as commissioner when he was Senator wouldn’t technically be something his new powers could do, but, favors could be called in. He could make it happen and act suitably shocked when someone with a better scheme replaced the greedy man down the line. It was the circle of life on Tinnel IV, where backstabbing was the leading cause of death among political careers.
The Commissioner-To-Be didn’t bat an eye when Carrick told him that he wanted to be part of the assault on the Senator’s compound to capture the man for questioning. Technically the investigation and the warrant wouldn’t be on the system until five seconds before they started but that was just an anti-corruption measure.
He couldn’t be tipped off about an arrest attempt if the arrest attempt wasn’t known.
“Reiel.” He called out to his Mandalorian with a smile as he approached her in the alleyway they were supposed to be waiting, “I’m glad you’re here.”
An almost traitorous part of him reminded him that he was happy she was here for more than just the missions at hand. He needed to be focused and having his thoughts drifting to more… pleasurable places was not something he wanted. Carrick needed focus but he needed someone he could trust more and Reiel was the only one who readily fit the bill.
