DESCRIPTION
The TIE/FC fire control starfighter, better known as the TIE Spotter, is a model in Sienar Fleet Systems' TIE range of starfighters. Designed for and operated by the old Galactic Empire, the TIE/FC had a specialized role within the Empire's starfighter corps, being tasked with forward reconnaissance and spotting for the Imperial fleet and bomber command.

In design, the TIE/FC is little more than a basic TIE, albeit with a few modifications. Notably, the TIE Spotter is only equipped with a single laser cannon; the omission of a second cannon makes room for a comprehensive, high-resolution sensor suite, capable of gathering detailed information on a targeted ship, facility or other location. This data is transmitted back to a capital ship or bomber formation, allowing them to correct their fire for more accuracy at long range, or to fine-tune bomb and missile releases for greater damage. This mission profile often requires a TIE Spotter to linger in a hostile environment, severely reducing its chances of long-term survival; to help balance the odds at least marginally, the ship is equipped with a slightly up-rated power-plant, giving it an extra 5 MGLT of speed compared to its regular starfighter counterpart.

TIE/FCs were not completely uncommon during the era of the Galactic Empire, with most large Imperial warships carrying at least 1. In the present day they are harder to find than regular TIEs, and typically are not as highly valued due to their reduced armament.

LEGALITY
Legal. Though they are technically starfighters, TIE/FCs are considered only light craft under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To bring a vessel from Legends canon into our site's fanon.
