DESCRIPTION
One of many starship designs that Walex Blissex was known for having his hand in conceptualizing. However it would not see production until after Walex's passing. Kuat System Engineering has since produced the Theta-3 in small numbers for specific clients. Over the years, for one reason or another but there was never much call for the Triopas class interceptor to be purchased in large numbers. As a result there are not many in circulation and most of them are owned by major corporations or planetary defense forces with significant budgets. Occasionally a Jedi or a Sith may get their hands on one of these but most often they were sold to order directly from the manufacturer.The Theta-3 has many characteristics that are reminiscent of its predecessor, the Eta-2 Actis class interceptor. Kuat kept these arguably "inferior" features despite having technology to improve or replace them. Still this would make the ship uneconomical to produce and sell so the corporation continued to incorporate Astromech droids and require hyperdrive booster rings to travel long distances.
The Triopas utilizes S-foil technology like many starfighters and has a very small profile allowing it to zip around the battlefield in space and in atmosphere. The starfighter lacks shields normally but owners are able to fit aftermarket heavy shields or numerous concussion missiles if they so choose. However the standard drawbacks still apply and most pilots prefer speed over armor or firepower. The starship possesses two laser cannons and ion cannons and while it can fire for a greater duration than the Actis it still can not maintain prolonged barrages.

To create a newer version of an old jedi starfighter model since it is highly unlikely there are any Jedi starfighters remaining after order 66 like the actis.
