"Interesting technique. Sadly, you won't be able to perform such clever antics on the battlefield."

"Really?" Siv was started as the captain's body collapsed. He was not, however, incapacitated. He rolled backwards, ending up where he was originally. On his way down, he swished his sombrero, moving his arm over the incoming blade, and bringing the sombrero across in a way that would brush his opponent's arm. The sharpened edge would leave a wound no more than a paper cut if it hit, but the clear poison he always kept on it would have more bite. He stood, just out of sword range.

Feeling the cut received from the sombrero just a moment too late, Remiel quickly recovered his footing and bounced back to his feet. The Miralukan Captain glanced at the wound; miniscule enough to barely attract attention, but large enough that Remiel - mainly due to his latent Force-sensitivity - could notice.

Time for my attack, thought Remiel.

Rushing at his student as quickly and as gracefully as he could, Remiel prepared for a vertical overhead strike that looked like it would collide with Siv's shoulder, though it actuality the blow would divert its course at the last moment and strike at his upper-arm. Either way, the attack would probably just graze his trainee's flesh, should it make contact. Once he was within striking distance of Siv, Remiel grabbed the knife from the back of his belt and thrust it at his student's lower-chest, hoping to catch him in a moment of weakness.

Siv saw the Capitan coming in for an overhead strike. He rolled backwards, counting in his head. 15, 14, 13, 12, 11... When he reached 10, a his opponent thrust a knife at him. It seemed to come of of nowhere, but nowhere wasn't close enough. Siv brought up his sombrero and caught the strike in his hat. He continued counting. He knew that when he reached 0, the poison would knock the captain out. He would administer an antidote, of course, before the captain entered the next stage, being a coma. for know, he held his ground, the knife embedded in his hat.

{{OOC: I'm just assuming that, because it has a fast-acting poision, it has no symptoms before he passes out.}}

Remiel watched as his blade missed and his knife became implanted in his trainee's hat. He had to act fast to gain the advantage. Twisting his body counterclockwise, Remiel twisted the knife in an attempt to free it from its artificial scabbard, though the entire motion was a rouse. Upon completing his bodily distortion, Remiel let go of his knife to free both hands and thrust his sword straight forward, intent on colliding with his trainee's neck.

(OOC: Yep, thats exactly what I intended. Sorry that i didn't clarify.)

Siv felt his hat and now the knife being twisted. He held his grip, still counting in his head. 7, 6, 5, 4... Suddenly, the resistance on his hat vanished, a sword was coming at his neck. With not enough time to duck, he brought his arms up. The sword passed just above his arm, passing through some of the rags. With a quick motion, he brought his arms up, pulling the entangles sword with them.

Rolling over, Remiel let go of the sword and allowed himself to end up sitting down on the permacrete-like surface. As though he was perfectly content with where he was, Remiel lied down and stretched out, glancing up at the Alsakan sun.

"Hmm... not bad," a vague, indirect meaning wrapped in his comment. Not a second later, he had passed out due to the effect of the poison.

"Hmph." Siv advanced to the captain's position and began to administer the antidote, which he pulled out of his rags. He inserted the needle and injected its contents. It shouldn't have any permanent effects. Siv didn't want to rob the Alsakans of a valuable captain. He took several steps back afterwords, preparing for whatever was next. The captain should wake immediately.

Remiel's eyes flickered open and he glanced around, realizing almost immediately he had been temporarily incapacitated. Grasping his hat, he shuddered as a chilling mix of serenity and embarrassment went down his spine.

"Interesting," said Remiel, rising to his feet. "Well, you've managed to convince me that you're a warrior of a certain caliber. Your marksmanship is certainly refined and your melee combat is up to par with my expectations," he smiled as he pondered their recent scuffle. "Now then, before we perform the final test, I have a question: is there a reason you dress in such a manner? The sombrero and rags don't exactly express the quintessence of a loyal soldier."

Siv turned around to the man, the captain, his current master. On his face was an odd grin, and the it was clear by the look on his face that something was wrong with this dude...

"Nope."

Remiel could recognize the mental state of this man wasn't normal. There was something different about him - sinister or not, it was abnormal. Nevertheless, Remiel nodded slowly and meditated on their recent training exercise. Suddenly, he turned around and headed toward an abandoned area at the farthest edges of the floating city of Alsakan.

"Your final test will determine your loyalty to the Union, he finally said. "You see two abandoned business facilities before you. Both have been arranged to be torn down at 1300 hours - three minutes from now. Inside the building to your right, I have captured an Alsakan civilian - one of our own - and left him for dead. However, he is sympathetic to our cause and his family is very influential among the priesthood. The door to your left has a large cache of weapons and armor that I was given in a business deal that can be redistributed to the Alsakan Union. You have one and a half minutes to make your decision... Obtain the equipment or free the man?"

Without delay, Siv made his decision. He may be weird, but he had a shrew tactical mind. He headed for the weapons immediately. He hit the door running, making it jar around. With shrewd use of a piece of scrap metal on the ground, he broke the lock off the door ad thundered inside. Within two minutes, he had carried out all of the weapons. He stood and smiled at the captain, humming.

Though Remiel tried to shroud his emotions, he was clearly pleased. First looking at the weapons, then Siv, then finally the two buildings as they were bombarded by pulverization machines. Walking toward his trainee, Remiel reached into the cache of weapons and pulled out a sniper rifle, throwing it over his shoulder in one swift motion.

"Good work. Though it may - or maybe not - seem cruel, lives that do not directly aid the Union are expendable. Influence is useless, how one handles power is the true measure of one's loyalty and prowess. The weapons and armor you have received will benefit the Union longer than a single man's life. Keep that lesson in mind, Siv. You may have first pickings at the weapons, or not."

Taking off his large, wide-brimmed hat, Remiel allowed his shaggy jet-black hair to drape over his shoulders while he saluted his trainee for one last time. Then Remiel turned around and left the training area without another word almost as quickly as he had left. Hopefully, his training would benefit Siv in his career as a soldier.
