And so Siv entered. He walked into the large training area of the Alsakan Orbital City. A large Window gave a pleasant view of Alsak. Siv walked through the large durasteel doors humming. He was wearing his rags and his sombrero. He was ready for anything. He walked to the center of the room and sat down, muching on a leg of... something. He waited.

Captain Remiel Vaern made his way through the training facilities, still running slightly behind schedule. Training these new recruits was harder work then he expected. Wiping the sweat from his brow, Remiel made his way to the location where his next recruit would be. He knew almost nothing about him, other than the fact he was a male Myke named Siv Cyn, about 29 years of age.

Passing by a group of soldiers practicing their skills at the shooting range, Remiel finally made his way into a large, almost empty room. At the far end of this room was a large, transparent window which peered down into the serene plains of Alsakan, away from the orbital city they were stationed at. In the center of the room sat a Myke, probably his trainee, eating something... unidentifiable.

"You are Siv Cyn, correct?"

"You are Siv Cyn, correct?"

"Yeah." Siv replied, continuing to much on the mystery meat. "You're early." Siv was in one of his rare moods, where instead of being weird, he was just a smart ass. "Shall we begin, Captain?" Siv continued to munch in a rather undignified way.

Remiel shook his head. He couldn't tell whether this was going to be surprisingly easy, or unbearably difficult. Either way, it was best to lay some ground rules first and ask questions later.

"First of all, lose the food. It's time for military training, you should have ate earlier. Second, I won't stand for stubbornness. It's going to be my job to mold you into a soldier. To do that, I'm going to need your compliance and cooperation. If not, this process will become much more difficult than it needs to be. Clear?"

"Yep." Siv took a last bite from the leg, finishing it off, and then stuck the bone into his a pocket, or pouch, as he was wearing rags. "Can we start now?"

Though the sight of the leg bone and the attitude of his pupil still annoyed Remiel, he decided to overlook it for the time being.

"I suppose we can start now, yes. To begin: why should you be admitted to the Alsakan Union military? What makes you any different from Jax Pavan or some other random civilian?"

"Well, I was born here. My parents enrolled me to the academy. I'd sum it up as giving me something to do. Oh, and I'm good at it." Siv smirked and rose from the ground.

Remiel rubbed his temples; perhaps this would flow easier if he quit talking and just started the actual training.

"The Alsakan military isn't a camp or a club. You don't get sent here when you have 'nothing to do'. You get sent here to fight. You get sent here to learn how to work together with your allies until the day ol' death takes you," he sighed for a moment. "But... if you are as good as you say you are, then we should have nothing to worry about."

"Tell me, what do you know of Shalharra and the Alsakan religion?"

"Well, Shalharra was the mother. She spread herself thin to create the galaxy. She lives though the current vicar. No one is aloud onto Alsak, for they would mar its beauty. Anything else you want me to tell you?"

"Nope. Just curious if you believed that, is all."

Remiel himself didn't really believe in all that drivel about Shalharra and her religious order, he was just in it for the credits and the glory. Of course, he couldn't exactly say that without possible repercussions from the Jintu Order, so he kept it to himself.

"Now the real training begins. Tell me, what weapons are you proficient in? What can you count on to keep you safe in combat?"

"Well, I use whatever is at hand. Literally. I have a natural ability for fighting with anything and everything. I once beat someone up with a squirrel."

Remiel sighed as his trainee mentioned the fact he beat up someone with a squirrel. Though he tried not to show it, he was incredibly dubious of Siv's story.

"Alright, well. If you are skilled enough to fight with anything at your disposal, I'd like to see your skills with a blaster - follow me," he added. Turning around, Remiel marched out of the otherwise empty chambers they were in and headed out to one of the training fields.

Siv followed the Captain out to a training field. Blasters? He was a good sniper. He could sharpshoot with a blaster. It would be no problem. "Shall we begin?" Siv asked, still smirking.

"Indeed. Take your pick of weapons - blaster, rifle, carbine, whatever - as long as you can hit those targets out there, he said reassuringly.

Pointing out about 75 yards, Remiel identified the five targets out in the distance that Siv would have to shoot. Pressing a button on the control module nearby, Remiel fixed the exercise so targets #4 and #5 would move around in a looping pattern instead of staying stationary. Waiting patiently, Remiel watched his student with subtle interest and a hope that his skills weren't all talk.

{{OOC: Go ahead and RP you character shooting each target, then we can continue.}}

Without a word, Siv walked over and grabbed a sniper rifle. He raised it to his eye, too aim, and one target down. Reload. Fire. Another target down. Now Siv waited for a moment seeming to hesitate. And then he fired. The shot flew, hitting a moving target, and passing through it to hit a non-moving. Lastly, he raised the rifle and fired. A hole appeared in the center of the target.

"Well?"

Remiel was genuinely impressed by his student's skills. Checking over the targets again, he confirmed each was hit within the bulls-eye range - or at least incredibly close.

"Excellent shots. This training will be much easier than it looked. You can use a blade, right?" Remiel asked. Throwing a sword from his pouch, he watched the blade fly dangerously through the air toward Siv while he prepared his own blade. He wasn't wearing any armor and it was clear that his trainee didn't either. "Your move. Take it easy on the swings though; we wouldn't want any permanent injuries."

"Not exactly..." Siv caught the blade.

"Your move. Take it easy on the swings though; we wouldn't want any permanent injuries."

"Great." The usual sarcasm. Suddenly, without warning, he dashed forward, bringing the sword across on an obvious and reckless sideswipe. It was easy to block, but thats what Siv was counting on. As he swung with his right hand, he grabbed the bone from earlier with his left and thrust in at the Captain's gut.

Remiel relaxed for a moment. He knew that the attack would come, eventually. And then Siv flew forward, approaching him at an unexpected speed. For someone dressed in rags like a homeless sentient, Siv certainly was a capable combatant, no matter how much Remiel despised his attitude.

Watching his trainee's sword come in as a reckless, horizontal strike, Remiel prepared an adequate defense. Sticking his blade out in a defensive, vertical position, he waited for the blade's collision against his own weapon. As Siv's blade came close to his own, however, Remiel barely caught a glimpse of his student's left hand moving in, ready to strike with that bone from earlier. With a quick swipe of his right hand, Remiel managed to grasp the bone firmly, preventing it from traveling the last few centimeters toward his gut.

With both his hands preoccupied, Remiel prepared a quick counterattack. Performing a swift kick, Remiel propelled his steel-toed boot toward Siv's right knee; if it went unblocked or he refused to dodge, the blow would be strong enough to cause immense pain, but not break any bones. In addition, Remiel simultaneously twisted the bone he had grasped - hoping to twist Siv's wrist and get his pupil to drop the bone he was using as a weapon - and began applying pressure to Siv's blade in an attempt to gain some breathing room from his swift and unpredictable student.

Siv saw the kick coming at the same time he felt pressure on his weapons. He released his grip on the sword, jumping and using his grip on the bone to end up doing a handstand on the captain. On his way up, he flicked his sombrero and music began to play. He released his grip on the bone and grabbed his sombrero. In the end, he was hand standing on the captain's shoulder with one arm. In the other he held his sombrero.

the song sounds something like this- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DGMOzMf8Nw&feature=related

Remiel slowly watched and waited as his trainee leapt from his initial position and eventually perform a full-blown handstand on his shoulder. Though he was impressed, Remiel acknowledged the improbability of using the technique in actual combat and the fact there was probably some sort of subtle mockery involved. Nevertheless, Remiel was going to force some discipline on this recruit, even if it took some broken bones - on either of their accounts.

"Interesting technique. Sadly, you won't be able to perform such clever antics on the battlefield."

Using his free hand, Remiel grabbed the blade that Siv had dropped and prepared for a possible counterattack. Almost without warning, Remiel let his entire body collapse on itself, toppling over and hopefully sending Siv flying - or at least throwing him off balance enough to get him off his shoulder. While he was preparing to fall, Remiel took his other sword and thrust it at the arm holding the sombrero, hoping to achieve a quick, distracting blow before he toppled over.
