In the quiet of space, a short distance outside of Chiss Ascendency territory, a seemingly abandoned freighter floated amongst wreckage of a battle from a bygone era. Circuits snapped and popped with electricity as it surged, smoke billowing from the detonated engine thrusters. Ships in the area had no trouble locating the craft as it relayed a comm hail for assistance though it would appear help was not forthcoming as the pirate captain looked upon the wreck from his viewport.

“Tractor it in and let’s see what sort of valuables they got on board, lads,” the Nautolan man sneered, a golden tooth glimmering from the lights of the control center. All around him, his men cheered and hollered at their Captain’s command, eager to horde for themselves whatever may remain in the dormant hull.

As the ship finally crossed into the hangar area of the Coeus barge, an umbilical was soon attached by the droid workers that allowed the pirate search team to begin their initial sweep.

“Hang on,” one pirate growled as they approached the port that would lead them into the freighter, a bioscanner in hand. “I’m picking up life forms in there. Weapons at the ready, boys,” he would continue before levelling a heavy repeater on the durasteel door that divided them from their foe whilst a member of the search team began working on unlocking the seal.

At first, it seemed a simple enough task yet as he progressed, he found his fingers slowly begin to tremble. A gnawing feeling of danger began to loom over not only him but his partners as well, a fear of what may exist on the other side of the door growing ever stronger. His vision began to blur, dark clouds swirling in his mind as they began to piece together an alternate reality. No longer was he a pirate about to lay eyes on an easy score. Now he somehow found himself back in his childhood, watching on as two characters took shape. Strangers? No… Not strangers. His parents, if it made any difference. His mother, lying on a couch as drool dripped from her drug-addled lips while his father, enraged by her lack of cognizance, turned to his young son with rage in his eyes. His father soon advanced, striking him with his massive hand and while this was all only a forcefully resurfaced memory, the pain he felt was real. Trapped in his mind, the pirate stumbled back from the door with a whimper.

The door slid open, Sah’ra Ryun standing opposite the search team of six, her hands at her hips with palms pointed towards them. The Force swirled around her as she continued to draw the fears of the foremost pirate out of him, a sly smirk visible from beneath her cowl as two others approached from behind her. Darkness had come for them and it would not depart. Not without the blood of their enemies on their hands.

While he stayed next to Sah’ra, Caerllion watched his fellow Champion use the Force to make the pirate taste his worst fear. It was an impressive display of power, one worthy of being copied in the future. Leaving a victim defenseless for future attacks was good when you don’t have a lightsaber anymore.

With one of them down, Caerllion turned his attention to the pirates that remained. His black cowl hid the expression of disgust that he had. The great Sith Order had reached the low point of needing to fight simple criminals to secure assets. At least what they were going to do today was going to help their future.

His attention was drawn to a Nautolan who seemed to be the leader of the group. Caerllion stretched his hand toward the man. “<Burn.>” he said in the ancient language of the Sith, loud enough for everyone around him to hear. Immediately, the Dark Side would cover the pirate with an oppressive and mortal aura.

Even if they weren’t Force users, the pirates would be able to feel that something was wrong. The Nautolan would open his mouth to scream, but what would come from inside it would be a flame. Soon, his entire body would be engulfed by flames. With a cold expression, Caerllion would watch while the man burned from inside out. It was less one criminal for them to deal with.

Whether it be by the roaring inferno that was their leader or the dark aura that swirled around the slicer, the other pirates found themselves in a state of surprised shock but it would only last for a split moment. While they were a ragtag force of misfits from across the stars, the pirates were still a collection of sinister men and women who faced death frequently. Weapons soon began to train themselves on the invading Sith trio before launching fire of their own.

In response, Sah’ra was forced to release her mental chokehold over the man and pool the her energy into creating an invisible barrier before her to halt their approach. It was something she had little practice in and had little time to react too, some bolts managing to zip by and scorching her left bicep. Wincing in pain as blaster fire collected before her, the weight of the effort bearing down upon her, the Sith woman was forced to cut the defence early. As her right hand maintained the barrier, her left pulled back as she drew in the Force before casting it forth and sending the collected blaster fire back home.

With the initial search team dead in a rain of their own attack, one body significantly more charbroiled than the others thanks to Caerllion’s efforts, Sah’ra turned to face her partners but found the third Sith had been burned multiple times in the chest from the pirate onslaught. Scowling at his corpse as she lowered her hood, the woman then turned her attention to the only other remaining Sith.

”There could be hundreds of pirates on board,” she began as she started to walk through the umbilical into the space station’s common area. ”A fight we likely won’t survive if we face them head on. If we secure the command center however, perhaps we can seal ourselves in before ejecting everything not welded down into space. Unless you have another plan?” she queried her partner. She was open to ideas but she doubted violence was the best course of action, given the odds.

Caerllion watched the confusion and fear of the remaining pirates slowly become anger. Much to the Annfyn’s chagrin, they weren’t going to give up the station only because their boss was dead. The criminals grabbed their blasters and pointed them at the three Sith, firing without any mercy.

Since there was little time for a proper reaction, Caerllion only was able to make a shield of red energy around himself. The blaster shots would harmlessly collide against it and disappear. Behind his protection, he was able to see that Sah’ra was able to protect herself with the Force. Unfortunately, their partner was too slow and died.

At least it was less one weak Sith for them to deal with.

The pirates found their demise when Sah’ra sent the shots of their blasters back to them. In seconds, all of them lay dead on the floor. By this point, the flames in their boss’ corpse had already died out, leaving only a piece of burned meat. The smell wasn’t the most pleasant, making Caerllion regret having decided to kill the other this way. He could have cut the Nautolan’s head.

I agree. It seems to be the most simple way of dealing with all these criminals.” Caerllion said, before turning to look at the dead Sith. “I don’t think that only the two of us would be enough to bring down so many of them.

With her partner in agreement of the plan, Sah’ra would continue down the umbilical with her free hand pressed against the burn on her bicep. It was an unfortunate occurrence, being wounded so early in the infiltration, but she was able to press on. Anger and, primarily, spite fed her ambitions. She had plans for this space station, plans that did not involve starting up a refueling and repair service in the Outer Rim. But before she could begin accumulating the funds for the retrofit, she needed to secure it.

Unfortunately, the blaster fire that echoed through the umbilical and back into the common room had not gone unnoticed. A pair of rather large and menacing Klatooinian goons soon stood in their way, directly on the threshold that would lead them within the station’s liveable areas. If they were to face them in direct combat, it would undoubtedly be a difficult fight. Fortunately, Sah’ra had spent much of her time studying how the Force could be used to manipulate the weak minded, twisting and subjugating them to her will rather than their own.

As their weapons raised, the Sith woman had already begun sinking her tendrils into their subconscious. While her right hand remained clasped to her burn, squeezing and agitating it further with gritted teeth, her left twisted at her hip. The pain fueled her efforts and she could soon witness the individuality vanish from the beady black eyes of her targets.

”Your mates have betrayed you both,” Sah’ra began, her words being forced into their minds. ”They’re hoarding wealth, keeping it from you. Laughing at you for being so ignorant to their cheating ways. You will repay them with chaos,” she continued, the suggestion becoming more than simple words but the desires of their own.

“We’ve been cheated,” one replied dryly.

“We will repay them with chaos,” said the other. The pair moved like the dead as they turned and cleared the way before firing upon any and all that occupied the common room.

"Thank the universe for dimwits and imbeciles," Sah'ra cooed to Caerllion though her facial expressions reflected the pain she endured. ”There’s our distraction. Let’s move,”

While Caerllion followed Sah’ra through the umbilical, he noticed the woman pressing a wound on her arm. Apparently, she wasn’t able to escape from their meeting with the pirates unscathed. At least she didn’t end up dead like the other Sith that were going to help them on this mission.

Here.” Caerllion said, while giving her a bacta patch. Since he had started to rely so much on his Sith sorcery, the Annfyn would never leave on a mission without one of these. Running around with a wound made the situation even more difficult. He wasn’t the type to share resources, but since they needed to success in securing this station, he would share the bacta with her.

However, she wouldn't have much time to pick it. Soon a group of Klatooinians appeared, blocking their path. Caerllion was already prepared to set them on fire, but Sah’ra acted before he could do anything. Once again she used an amazing display of Force power, this time to make the goons turn against their crewmates.

Impressive. Can you teach me that?” he asked, before following her. While sorcery was his most trusted weapon, the Annfyn could learn some new tricks. The situation that the Order had at the moment made it necessary for them to use anything that they could have.

Sah’ra’s blue eyes fell to the offered bacta patch before flicking back up to Caerllion. Was it an offer made out of kindness or self preservation? A wounded partner could be a hindrance so it wasn’t unreasonable to try and keep them in performing condition in the eyes of most. But they were Sith. Pain and anger were sources of power. If the roles were switched, if Caerllion proved to become a liability over an asset, she wouldn’t bat an eye before leaving him behind. And if he was offering it out of some sort of an act of compassion? Well, that was an entirely different circumstance all together.

”Keep it,” Sah’ra replied dryly, keeping to the sides of the common area as they reached the end of the umbilical. While the two Klatoonian’s offered an effective smokescreen of sorts, they still needed to be careful.

”It’s a simple mind trick,” Sah’ra glanced at her partner with a raised eyebrow. Certainly many Sith had spent their tenure as Acolyte focusing on more violent and offensive abilities, Caerllion perhaps being one, as not all held an interest in what the Force can do beyond inflict pain. Sah’ra, however, was not such a person and found such a train of thought to be feeble and misguided. ”Perhaps when we’re not in the middle of an extermination. I am a believer in fair trade so you best think of something you can offer me in exchange,” Her voice was sly but curiosity was stirred. Did Caerllion have anything to trade for knowledge?

Suit yourself.” Caerllion said with the same dry tone that the other Sith had used. He was only trying to be polite, but she seemed to think that was too superior to accept it. In this case, the Annfyn wasn’t going to insist. However, if she proved to be a liability because of this wound, he would leave her behind.

I can offer to teach you in Sith Alchemy.” he wasn’t sure if the woman would want to learn it, but it was what he could offer. There was also his Korriban magick, but he would never give it to someone else so easily. Only in exchange of some great knowledge, Caerllion would reveal the secrets of his sorcery.

Thanks to the Klatooininans, their path was clear. The common area beyond the umbilical was empty, with only some marks of blasters in the walls revealing that a fight happened here moments ago. Turning allies against each other was really useful.

Looking at the entrance of two halls, one on each side of the room, Caerllion turned to Sah’ra. “Where should we go now?

At the mention of Caerllion’s alchemist knowledge, Sah’ra’s curiosity went from stirred to peaked. This was a field she had a deep desire to pursue but much of what she had discovered in the past never broached on the subject. Combining Sith Alchemy with the geneticist roots of her father could present a vast amount of potential.

”You’ve got yourself a deal, my friend,” Sah’ra replied, her tone warming now that she knew her partner had something of worth to offer her. ”Try not to die and when this is all said and done, we’ll both leave here stronger than when we arrived,” she added with a smirk, her hand still clutching the wound on her bicep.

This was going far too easily. Wherever the Klatooinians now found themselves was a mystery to both Sith, the only clue being the path of destruction left in their wake. Bodies lay lifeless, carbon scoring decorated the walls until finally they approached a fork in the road. To the left, the carnage of her proxy combatants continued on. To the right, silence. This meant that the right path also likely would offer a degree of resistance but the mind trick over the two brothers wouldn’t hold forever and engaging them was a risk, especially after their mind had been splintered. Neither fact mattered, however. What did matter was finding the command center.

Closing her eyes, Sah’ra reached out through the Force and demanded it guide her to her goal. Like a voice speaking in the back of her mind, she was pulled to the right. Opening her eyes, she would see her index finger had risen and pointed in the same direction.

”Take the lead,” Sah’ra said with a nod of her head.

Caerllion smiled at Sah’ra’s answer. He was sure that his offer of teaching her Sith Alchemy would have sparked her interest. “I say the same to you.” dying to simple pirates in a place like this one wasn’t on the Annfyn’s plans. He believed that the woman also didn’t want to die here.

There were still many things to see in the Galaxy and many Dark abilities to be learned. For Caerllion, death could come centuries in the future, there was no rush.

While they walked through the corridors and rooms of the estation, Caerllion was able to see the destruction that the two Klatooinians had left on their path. Besides the marks of blaster bolts in the walls, there were several bodies on the floor. Sah’ra’s mind control over the two pirates had really made their mission easier.

When they reached the fork on their path, the Annfyn reflected on where they should go. He could hear the fight happening on the left, while there was nothing on the right. It could only mean that things here were calm or that there was no one here.

However, it didn’t mean that he appreciated Sah’ra asking him to walk there first. He turned to look at her, an eyebrow raised. “Okay. I’ll go there.” Caerllion had the impression that it was an attempt to have him be a scapegoat, if there were people doing an ambush. The Annfyn walked through the path, prepared for any possible attack.

The sounds of carnage began to fade as the pair of Sith made their way through the corridor in search of the command center. Given the size of the station, it could still be some distance away but Sah’ra had a degree of faith that whatever spread out force of pirates that still remained on board were likely being routed to execute the traitorous Klatooinian brothers. With luck, the amount of opposition they had yet to face would be slim.

Unknown to the Sith however, a grizzled Twi’lek woman, the Captain’s First Mate, stood within the command center and watched their progression in the security system feed. She had watched as the pair of intruders executed their captain and twisted the minds of two of their strongest enforcers. Keen eyes followed them as they avoided further detection until finally…

“Now,”

As the Sith rounded a corner, none living to be seen, a ray shield above them snapped to life and trapped the pair in place before the woman’s voice echoed in the hall through the comm system.

“Whoever you are,” she began, her voice distorted by the speakers yet still oozing with venom. “You’ve made a massive mistake in coming here. I’m looking forward to making you pay for killing Isir,”

At that moment, a team of twelve pirates rounded the corner behind them, clearly pursuing them as they delved deeper into the station. Ahead, a pair of old but modified droidekas rolled the corner before unfolding and training their blasters on the Sith. Before Sah’ra or Caerllion were able to say a word in retaliation, an electrical discharge from above cracked to life and left the pair unconscious.

Waking in a cell, Caerllion in a cell of his own across the room, Sah’ra groaned as her body still tried to cope from what had transpired.

”Well… This could have gone better,” Sah’ra grunted as she stood, glancing around the room. For the moment, they were alone but she could sense that soon, the new Captain would arrive. Patting her sides, she realised she had been relieved of her lightsabers. ”Whats our play?” she called out to the Anfynn, who was undoubtedly also weaponless. Of course, a Sith was never truly unarmed.

Sorry for the delay, my guy. Life has been very life-y lately >.<

As soon as they had rounded a corner, a ray shield descended over the two Sith and trapped them. Caerllion wasn’t that much surprised with it. While the two Klatooinians did a good job in cleaning their path, it was obvious that they weren’t going to kill all the other pirates in the station.

And it seemed that many of them remained, because as soon as the shield appeared a large group of armed pirates appeared and surrounded the two Sith. Caerllion sighed, he had hoped that they would be more clever and leave rather than try to face the Dark Siders.

He was already prepared to use his Korriban magick, but the electrical discharge had put him down before he could even move a hand. The Annfyn would wake up some time later inside a cell. “I’m starting to hate these people.” he said for himself, while getting up from the floor.

The Annfyn looked around, believing that Sha’ra could be in the same cell with him. However, her voice alerted him to the fact that they had been separated. “Our play now is to escape and kill even a single one of them.” Caerllion placed his hand in the wall next to the door and red sparks flowed from it.

His fellow Sith would be alerted by the sound of the circuits exploding, while the two doors were open. Stepping out of the cell, Caerllion would gesture at the ceiling. A blast of red energy would leave his hand and collide against it. The sparks would travel through the electrical system, making all the cameras in the room and nearby corridors explode. “Are you prepared to cause some deaths?

Raising her hands to shield her eyes as sparks began to shoot from any exposed circuitry, Sah’ra took a few steps in anticipation of what was about to take place. This form of Force utilization was entirely foreign to the human, something she had never seen before. She had read of a similar form of magic, utilized by the likes of the Nightsisters of Dathomir and their old Empress, but this was something else.

”Looks like you know more than you let on,” Sah’ra retorted as she stepped from the cell, straightening the sleeves of her attire. As her partner proceeded to eliminate any surveillance equipment, she began contemplating just how they should go about this. Their cover was long since blown and given that they remained in the dark about just how long they had been incapacitated, it was likely that the pirate forces had consolidated from around the station to the makeshift cell block. Charging in seemed a feeble hope but Caerllion wanted to taste blood. One way or another, however, it seemed there was no avoiding a fight.

”I think I have another idea. One that may deviate away from the original plan but may prove more fruitful in the future,” Sah’ra began as she searched their surroundings for their belongings, finally setting her eyes on a console. ”Kill who we must but this new leader, I wish for an… opportunity to speak with her,” Sah’ra partially explained as she accessed the system before realizing that during their time in their cells, a message had been sent to the Empire, explaining that they had captured two Sith and wished to receive the bounty for Sah’ra’s lightsabers.

Not one for dramatic outbursts, Sah’ra took a deep breath and stepped back from the console before turning to her partner. ”The Empire is coming. We will need to hurry,”

You can say that I have some good aces up my sleeve to use in situations like this one.” he said to Sah’ra, after she left her cell. The loss of his lightsaber made the Champion focus on other ways to defend himself. The blade couldn’t be the only way that a Sith could have to show their power.

Caerllion simple nodded to Sah’ra’s idea. He couldn’t understand why the woman wanted to talk with the pirates, since they were scum and should be eliminated. However, he wasn’t in the mood to argue with her. If the empire was coming, the two Sith needed to finish their business immediately.

Then, we should move.” the Annfyn said, before turning to the exit. Summoning his magick, the Champion let it flow freely through his body. His hands got covered in red energy, while his pupils changed from black to scarlet. With decided steps, Caerllion moved through the door toward a hall.

As soon as the Annfyn exploded their cells, the pirates were already moving to stop their escape. This way, when the two Sith appeared in the hall, there were already some of them waiting for the two Dark Siders. However, Caerllion had already felt their presence through the Force.

Before they could make the same move of surrounding the two Sith, Caerllion released a blast of red energy at them. It had the same effect of a flamethrower and the pirates screamed before their carbonized bodies fell on the floor. The wave of energy also made the lights of the hall to oscillate, leaving the hall with half illumination.

The penumbra would not stop Caerllion, who would continue crossing the hall. He would step over the carbonized pirates without caring that they once were sentient beings. It was what they deserved for imprisoning a member of the House of Cyfnos. The red energy in his hands and the scarlet of his eyes would be the last thing that any pirate that tried to stop them would see.

It seemed Caerllion was far more infuriated by their capture than she could ever be, leaving little more than smoking husks in his wake as he departed the brig. The display of violence, the absolute utter disregard for the lives he snuffed out in his wake, was something to behold. How this man had learned such abilities was beyond her and became a subject she fully intended on researching when she found the moment. For now, they had to focus on not only securing the space station but pushing it into hyperspace to avoid any sort of Imperial altercations.

”Very well done, I must say,” Sah’ra cooed as she stepped out from the brig, over the smoldering corpses of their captors with a sly grin. It would take far more than a band of brigands to successfully hold a Sith. In truth, the woman likely only had to follow in Caerllion’s steps and let him do all the work. While she was fully capable of slaughtering those who dared intervene in her plans, she was a woman of words rather than uncontained violence. This was a matter she often preferred to leave to others. Unfortunately, the time for such had not yet arrived. For now, violence was their only option.

As the pair began to make their way down the corridor towards the Command Center, having pinpointed it’s location while she had access to the terminal, Caerllion blasted their path forward whilst Sah’ra covered their flank. Time and again a pirate would poke their heads around corners only to find cargo containers, astromechs, toolboxes and the like caving in their skulls. Blood seeped across the durasteel floor, the combination of charred remains and rust filling her nostrils.

”The command center is there,” Sah’ra pointed in the direction of a large sliding door with transparisteel windows, a dozen pirates standing in wait with weapons drawn whilst the new Captain stood at the rear of them all, one lekku draped across her neck as she flicked the safety of her heavy pistol on and off.

“You Sith certainly are persistent,” the woman spoke through the intercom as the men and women at her sides shifted nervously for what was to come. “It’s a shame we couldn’t have met under different circumstances but the bounty on your weapons should be plenty to compensate for that,”

As the woman spoke, Sah’ra spotted her lightsabers sitting on the top of a desk, glittering in the red and blue lights of the consoles.

”I’m afraid you won’t be collecting it but I must applaud you for your effort,” Sah’ra retorted before reaching out with the Force and grabbing the hilts. Snapping to life, the crimson blades sped from their position until they slammed into the door dividing them. Panic began to ensue within the Command Center but the blades cut through the door like butter as Sah’ra guided them in an oval shape. Once the cut was cleared, Caerllion would have the opportunity to continue his bloody assault.

Thank you.” Caerllion said, without even turning to look at the woman. The pirates were still around the space station and the Annfyn needed all the focus that he had to use his magick with the maximum of efficiency. He still wanted to kill them in the most painful way possible.

While Sah’ra said the direction that they should take, the Annfyn was responsible for killing anyone that tried to stop them. He blasted every single pirate that was stupid enough to try to face the two Sith. There wasn’t even time for them to point their blaster before becoming a pile of ashes on the floor.

It was this way that they reached the Command Center. The transparisteel door allowed the Sith to see the pirates and their new Captain inside the room. They were already pointing their blasters at the two Dark Siders. They were feeling so safe behind it that their leader was even talking.

Too much talking.” Caerllion said, even before she could finish talking. With a movement of his hands, circles of red energy appeared around the necks of each pirate inside the room. The scum would feel as if they were being strangled, all flux of air would be blocked. It was
the Annfyn’s own take on the trick that his Master used on him several years ago.

He would hold them this way, while Sah’ra used her lightsaber to cut the transparisteel. Once there was a path for them to enter, Caerllion would flick his fingers and the room would be filled by the sound of several necks being snapped. When he released his hold over them, the Captain would be the only one remaining alive.

Caerllion was like a hot knife through butter, executing nearly every pirate in the command center before the doorway had been cleaved through. Fortunately, as the pair of Sith stepped through the hole Sah’ra had cut, they would be face with none trying to stop them. Even the Captain, stunned by how quickly her crew had fallen, was left speechless as her blaster quivered in her shaking hand.

”Drop the weapon, dear. There is no need for you to die as well,” Sah’ra cooed as she clipped her weapons back to her belt, moving to the life support read out of the space station. ”While we may well have every right to eject you and the rest of your crew into the void, much as we had originally planned, I believe you and I can come to a more… beneficial arrangement for us both,” she continued to speak as she looked upon the screen. Most of the pirate crew had indeed been eliminated, their numbers being much smaller than she had originally believed. Even so, approximately twenty odd pirates still remained and were enroute to the command center.

“And what makes you think we’re willing to negotiate?” the Twi’lek woman spoke, using every remaining ounce of courage she harbored to keep her voice from breaking. “The Empire is on its way. They’ll be here any second. You could kill us but only I know the access code to activate the hyperdrive. I die, and you’re sitting ducks,”

”Precisely. I need your access code and yet your life is in my… I mean, our hands,” Sah’ra retorted, casting a quick side glance towards Caerllion. As she spoke, almost as though they had been summoned by voice alone, an Imperial frigate with two escort corvettes dropped from hyperspace, sending a hail through the comm system. Sah’ra gritted her teeth with an angered stare. ”Unfortunately, we do not have time to negotiate terms now,”

Sah’ra reached out and tapped into the woman’s mind, implanting the seeds of retreat. A glazed look overcame the Twi’lek as she turned to the control panel and began punching in coordinates to somewhere in the unknown regions. It would take a few moments before the hyperdrive was ready to activate however, and the Imperial communication hail was still echoing around them.

”Would you mind distracting them, my dear?” Sah’ra asked Caerllion as she ensured the captain remained under her sway.

Feel free to wrap it up in the next post, my guy.

Caerllion smiled with pleasure while they entered the command center. The corpses of the pirates that were scattered in the floor were a testament of how far the Annfyn had reached as a Sith. However, there was still more that he could learn. Such as how to teleport.

Even after having seen most of her crew being executed, the captain still had the arrogance to confront the Sith. If he didn’t think that it was annoying, Caerllion would have been impressed with her courage.

The Annfyn glanced at Sah’ra, before turning back at the pirate. The way that the woman talked about the captain’s condition gave the impression that he was subordinated to the other Champion, when the two were in equal position.

However, he didn’t say anything. With the Empire approaching, they needed to act fast. Caerllion let Sah’ra do what she wanted with the captain, while he went to delay the arrival of the Imperials. In the end it wasn’t so difficult, the Annfyn only needed to lie that he was one of the pirates and drag their conversation by acting as a dumb.

During the middle of their talk, the station would jump to hyperspace. He wanted to see the face of the Imperials when it happened.
