The Templar Order.

We have existed under the very nose of the galaxy for a century.
Our founders were no better than petty vigilantes, aiming to stamp out corruption and injustice amongst their homeworlds.
They were small. Inconsequential in the Galaxy.
They did not have the power they needed to accomplish their goals and establish peace.
They did not have the resolve they would need to gain that power.

The new generation of Templars are different.

Five decades ago, we created a name; a banner to rally behind; a single, unified cause for us all to work twoards. Our cause? Nothing short of ushering in a new Galactic Order. An Order that would, one day, reign in a new era of peace and prosperity. I must admit, it is a lofty goal. Too great for any one generation to be asked to accomplish. But we are patient. With each passing year, we position ourselves a bit better. We sink our claws that much deeper into the inner workings of the Galaxy, seizing a post here and a office there, inserting officials loyal to our cause and our cause alone.

Can we accomplish our goal within our lifetime? Perhaps. Perhaps not. Only time will tell. Perhaps through sheer force of will and strategy it can be done. One thing is certain, however. No matter what the outcome of this generation’s actions, we will be assured that the groundwork for a new Galactic Order shall be laid, and it shall be a framework that our children, and our children’s children, can build off of. And one day, it shall be the Templar banner waving high on each and every world. Not the Republic banne, nor the Hutt banner, but the Cross of the Templar Order.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Templar Order consists of three largely independent branches, guided by a loose leadership structure. The following is a description of each branch and office of leadership.

The Offices of Leadership

The first is the Office of the Sovereign. This office seats the Templar’s current leader, who is either elected to the post or secures it via transfer of power by their formal leader. The leader is always referred to as ’Soverign’; his identity is erased entirely when he takes office, and his face known only to the Triumvirate. He holds ultimate power within the Order; his word is a law that cannot be challenged.

The second part of the leadership, and the better known of the two, is the Triumvirate. The Triumvirate is made up of the commander of each of the three branches of the Templar Order. They are responsible for conveying information on the status of the Order and its holdings to the Office of the Sovereign, and they are responsible for carrying out Sovereign’s orders. The Triumvirates are appointed solely by ability; only truly exceptional officers ever make it to the leading position of their branch and to the post of Triumvirate.

The Three Branches of the Order

The first and arguably most important branch is the Templar Wraiths. Agents of the Shadow, the Wraiths are masters of the art of infiltration and subversion. They are the Order’s best tool in their cloak-and-dagger games. The task of the Wraiths is simple: They are to infiltrate enemy factions and weaken them from within, or if possible, secure control of them. The Wraiths are trained to be utterly ruthless; they will stop at nothing to accomplish their goals.

The Templar Wraiths are also the most diverse of the three branches. They come from all walks of life and all races and genders, but they have one thing in common: An unshakable will, a desire to serve the Order, and the skill to work themselves into an organization.

The second branch is the Knights Templar. If the Wraiths are the Order’s Scalpel, then the Knights are the Broadsword. When a hostile entity needs to be dealt with swiftly and effectively, the Knights are dispatched. Swift, silent, and deadly, they are a force to be reckoned with on any covert battlefield. While quick and silent assaults are their forte, the Knights are not afraid to abandon stealth and use shock and awe tactics to defeat an enemy. In either case, attacks by the Knights Templar are exceedingly difficult to document; there’s rarely any witnesses left to speak of the Knights, and the few survivors are either too traumatized or too terrified to be of use.

The third and final branch is the Templar Guardians. While the Knights are the Broadsword, the Guardians are the Shield. They safeguard the Order, not through force, but through subversion. The Guardians pose as a goodwill force in the galaxy, dispensing massive quantities of free medical aid, food supplies, education, and other basic charities to all those in need without question or hesitation. Funded by unknown beneficiaries -namely, the Order’s shadowy activities and a handful of blissfully ignorant civilian contributors- the Guardians are responsible for playing the part of a non-profit charity, and they play the part well.

They are the most peaceful of the three branches, and most don’t know the stock of a rifle from the barrel. [A few well-hidden Knights Templar can usually be found guarding their ranks, however.] As such, they produce and maintain the image that the Templar Order is nothing more than a well-funded charity hellbent on improving the living quality of all those displaced by war, famine, poverty, and misfortune of all kinds.

Templar Facilities

New Hope Central Depot

The New Hope Central Depot, often called the NH Depot for short, is located on Corellia near the Northern Hills outside Coronet City. It is a fair-sized facility, occupying roughly four square miles of terrain and surrounded by electrified fencing to fend off would-be thieves and wild animals. It is equipped with its own central power generators so that the Depot may continue to operate in the event that the Corellian power grid fails. It boasts its own starport and underground drydocks as well, to which one square mile of the entire facility is dedicated. Another two square miles house storage facilities, while the final square mile houses the Depot’s personnel, along with a Templar-only hospital, mess hall, and all other necessary facilities to keep the Depot running at full strength.

The NH Depot’s primary purpose is to supply Corellia’s Templar aide stations and Clinic and resupply the Templar Depot on Coruscant. Unknown to the general public, the facility also houses underground barracks and training facilities for both the Knights Templar and the Templar Wraiths. These facilities are concealed under a number of little-used warehouses near the Spaceport.

Templar Fleet

1x Titan-Class Heavy Transport. 230 Meters Long, 80 meters wide, 50 meters tall. Cargo capacity of 8,000 Tons. Crew of 80. Equipped with heavy shielding and 8 twin-linked laser cannon turrets for defense from fighters and stray asteroids. Non-combat transport; while designed to survive brief encounters with Pirates, a Titan cannot hold its own for more than a minute or two against anything with more firepower than a squad of fighters.

14x Lampa-Class Medium Freighters. 130 Meters long, 65 meters wide, 30 meters tall. 2,000-ton Capacity. Crew complement of 20. Equipped with medium-grade shielding and 4 light laser cannons for anti-asteroid use. Nonmilitary vessel; will not survive any sort of engagement for long without fighter escort. As such, Templar Lampas are usually escorted by a pair of gunship.

25x Courier HMT Transport. 20 Meters long, 12 meters wide, 4 meters tall. Crew complement of 3. Passenger capacity of 40. Highly aerodynamic, high-speed Courier Vessel with a 40-ton cargo capacity. Designed entirely to fly fast from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’ while avoiding threats. Completely unarmed and only lightly shielded.

Special Fleet Units
These units are operated by the Knights Templar. While the SSF-35 Tempest is publicly acknowledged and operated on a license from the Republic Navy, the Aurora-class Assault Dropship is a well-guarded secret. As such, the two Auroras owned by the Templar Order are usually kept tucked away in the underground hangar bays of the New Hope Central Depot.

45x SSF-35 ‘Tempest’ Space Superiority Fighter

The Tempest is a fast and highly maneuverable starfighter designed to quickly establish aerial/space supremacy. It is a single-seat fighter equipped with hyperdrive capability in the form of a external drive attatched to a belly hard-point, giving the external drive the appearance of a fuel pod. While attatched, it significantly increases inertial mass due to its weight and thus reduces agility. As such, it is not unusual for pilots to jettison the drive when entering a combat scenario, then return to the drive after the battle is done or, in the event that the external jump drive's locating beacon is damaged or the drive is otherwise lost, the Tempest can 'mate' with virtually any hyperspace-capable vessel through the use of magnetic landing claws on the belly; this does not require a docking ring, simply a flat surface that will support the Tempest's size and weight.

Since the Tempest is unshielded, it relies on its Electronic Countermeasures and Physical Countermeasures [sensor jammers and flare/chaff dispensers, respectively] and high agility to avoid damage. The Tempest is armed with 2 Light Laser Cannons with high rate-of-fire, and a pair of 40MM cannons to deal extra damage against slow-moving targets. She is also armed with 2x Missile Launchers, each one attached to two separate missile magazines.

The larger of the magazines, holding 10 missiles, is loaded with SS/AM [Space-to-Space/Air Missile] ‘Sparrow’ missiles, which are designed to lock onto the thermal/radar signature of a target vessel, home in on it, and detonate when in proximity. The other magazine, holding 6 missiles, contains GPM ‘Hammerhead’ General-Purpose Missiles, which are fast but aren’t particularly nimble. They do deal considerable damage. They’re generally used against capital ships and ground targets.

2x Aurora-class Assault Dropships

The Aurora-class is the heaviest class of military vessel in use by the Templar Order. Although classified as an Assault Dropship, the Aurora is very nearly a heavy corvette thanks to her length of 60 meters and her crew of 20. Bristling with guns and missile tubes and heavily armored with military-grade shielding, the Aurora is easily the most destructive piece of hardware within the Templar Order… And also the least subtle.

Used only for high-priority Templar Operations where stealth won’t cut it, the Aurora is their ultimate shock-and-awe weapon. Capable of delivering several tons of cargo or up to a hundred fully-armed and equipped Templar Soldiers, the Aurora Assault Dropship is a bird of prey no foe would ever want to see heading their way. Luckily, the Templar Order only has two of these fine vessels, and both tend to stay locked up deep within the bowels of New Hope Central Depot, awaiting the time in which the Order has need of their firepower.

[NOTE: This ship is NOT for use in missions unless permission is expressly granted. If you want to use it in a mission, consult with me or Mullens first, and we will decide or consult with the admins to come to a decision on its use. The only exception to this rule is PC vs NPC missions where its use is explicitly granted within the mission statement.]

Templar Missions

“Party Crashers”
Difficulty: Hard
A vicious swoop gang, the ‘Crimzon Gard’, has reared its ugly head upon Corellia. Avowed anarchists, they want nothing less than to seize control of Corellia, sever ties with the Republic, and reign in an age of chaos and tyranny lead by -who else?- themselves. While the Order hardly agrees with either the Corellian government or the Republic, at least both groups are better than the kind of savagery and nonsensical violence that will be ushered in by these grammatically challenged brutes. While it is doubtful that they’ll ever gain the strength to accomplish their goal, they’re still a bothersome lot.

Take a squad of Templar Soldiers, track them down to their base in the snow-covered Nomad Mountains, and wipe them out. Intel indicated that the base is little more than a collection of prefabricated duracrete shelters and warehouses, with only a primitive wire fence as its sole defense, aside from the bikers within. According to thermal photography of the area, conducted by a surveillance drone, we have determined that the Crimzon Gard has between 30 and 50 members; the numbers fluctuate daily, so there may be many more coming and going.

As a precaution, there is a 5-fighter wing of Tempests, callsign ‘Blue Flight’, loitering over the area. While it is preferable that you use only your squad to eliminate the Crimzon Gard, if you run into difficulty, you are authorized to designate targets for Blue Flight to strafe with gun and missile fire.

“Hijacked!”
Difficulty: Medium
A Templar Lampa-class Freighter, designation T-6673, was hijacked at 0150 today. T-6673 was carrying a shipment of emergency foodstuffs, clothing, and prefabricated shelters to the New Hope Central Depot on Corellia, but was intercepted and boarded by Pirates as soon as it came out of Hyperspace. It’s locator beacon shows that it has since left the Corellia System, but it has dropped out of hyperspace and is loitering in deep space between Corellia and another star system. Take a team to T-6673, board the Transport, regain control of the vessel, and return her to New Hope.

Expect to encounter between 10 and 15 pirates aboard T-6673. The Crew may have been taken hostage, so go prepared to deal with a hostage situation aboard T-6673. As a note, the transport’s weapons were disabled when she was boarded, so you should encounter zero resistance while approaching the transport. Nevertheless, a single Aurora and a wing of Tempests will escort your transport to T-6673’s location. If the freighter offers resistance, the Aurora will disable the Lampa.

“Sledgehammer Renovation”
Difficulty: Medium to Hard
There is an industrial park on Coruscant that has laid abandoned for several years. It is mostly overrun by gangs, druggies, and other undesirables. We have scouted the area, and we’ve come to the conclusion that this industrial park would be the prime location for a new depot on Coruscant. It’s not too big, it’s not too small; just right for a new outpost. We intend to secure the titles needed to own and operate the industrial park within a week’s time. However, the current tenants need to be cleared out. Forcefully. Take a team and clear them out, and demolish any shanties or drug manufacturing/distributing facilities you find.

Expect to encounter medium to heavy resistance. However, their advantage will be in sheer number; perhaps 30 gang members are occupying the area, and an unknown number of drug-crazed madmen who can’t operate anything more complex than a light switch and their drug needles. On the upshot, the gang members cannot -generally speaking- shoot accurately, and the druggies will be easily frightened off. You are not authorized to call for fire support during this mission.

You will be entering the area disguised as a Organized Crime Unit from the CSF. Your gear will still be Templar-Issue, however, it will all be flat black, and CSF patches and fake nametags distributed to your team. This is a low-impact op; we need to cause maximum casualties while leaving the smallest possible footprint. If at all possible, make it look like the police are responsible.

“Honey, I shrank the kids.”
Difficulty: Easy

This is a straight-up kidnapping mission. A wealthy Coruscanti scientist, a human named Erik Bantrell, claims to be on the verge of discovering a breakthrough in the ability to miniaturize electronic and mechanical components. This would be a miracle for the manufacturing industry; the ability to minaturize components would lead to a new wave of small, highly portable pieces of equipment and could inject new life into the economy. However, the advanced technology he claims to have developed is about as real as the tooth fairy. Nevertheless, the utter dishonesty behind his claim is cleverly masked with well-written scientific reports, a handful of highly paid minions who waddle around after him spouting praise and false testimonies, and of course, a few thugs who pummel anyone who dares to try to reveal the truth. This means that he has managed to weasel his way into a fair bit of grant money. Several million credits worth, to be precise.

We want to send Mr. Bantrell a clear message. He has two children; 6-year-old Erik Bantrell the II, and 8-year old Isabella Bantrell. They both attend a private school in one of the upper-class districts of Coruscant, near their father’s home and laboratory. You are to kidnap them from the family limousine-speeder, take them to their laboratory, and use his miniaturization device upon them. The lab will have a security camera; we have prepared a film for it that shows both children being shrank to microscopic size.

Upload the film to the camera via a wireless connection before entering the lab. A virus embedded in the data will shut down the camera for fifteen minutes; long enough for you to sabotage the machine and then leave. You will take the children to Kuat and leave them at an specified orphanage there, then you will return to the Templar Order. From there, a group of criminals we have contacted -anonymously, of course- will take over and conduct a ransom negotiation. Eventually, it will be proved that his technology was a hoax, but that is not our concern. You are only to kidnap the children, ’shrink’ them, deposit them, and return.

This is, as usual, a low-footprint operation. Wear common street clothing, and utilize silenced weapons and stealth to eliminate any guards standing in your way. Do not speak to the children; if necessary, you are authorized to tranquilize them. You have no back-up on this mission, but you should not need any.

Semper Vigilantis
Difficulty: Low to Medium
One of our worst enemies are the loose bands of Conspiracy Theorists and Anarchist crackpots who scurry about in the shadows, probing here and there for any evidence of government and corporate cover-ups. While they rarely even come close to the truth, they occasionally come close to finding evidence of the Order itself. Such is a case with the group known as the ‘Ever Vigilant’, a small ring of Anarchists, Conspiracy Theorists, and other paranoid folk who operate on Coruscant in the lower districts. One of their number has been spying on Templar aide ships traveling to and from Coruscant, and he has photographed the Knights Templars working as guards upon the ships and in the humanitarian aid groups dispatched from the vessels.

It’s time to put the Ever Vigilant to rest before they become more proactive in their quest to uncover conspiracies. Seek out their base in the entertainment district, storm it, and put every last one of them to the sword. Make it quick and violent; when you are finished, set a demolition charge to blast their headquarters to kingdom come and remove all evidence of our presence there, save for what little evidence a smoking crater will yield.

Your space superiority fighter's built-in hyperdrive system would make the ship be considerably advanced with the timeline in consideration. You should make the hyperdrive external, in the form of a hyperdrive ring or something of the like.

Otherwise, it looks good.

Adjustment made. The drive is now external, not unlike an oversized fuel pod like is used on modern-day Earth fighters. As a redundancy [because you all know I love redundancies] the Tempest also has a magnetic docking system, so she can mate with friendly vessels and hitch a ride on them if she loses her hyperdrive, since she has to ditch it in order to fight, and it's fairly likely for the pod to be damaged or lost while the Tempest is off zipping around.

If a faction is predominantly Force-sensitive or designed around having a group of Force-sensitive members, then the faction is categorized as such. It's not a biggy if there is only one or two Force-sensitive members.

Missions posted! Unlike other factions, any rank can accomplish any of these missions, as you will generally be in command of a NPC Fire Team or, if you're a Sergeant, a 12-man squad split up into 3 fireteams. [I'll elaborate on the system later.]

As a note, just because a mission is in the 'Wraith' or 'Knights Templar' categories, doesn't mean that a member of the faction in a different branch can't take it. It just means that those missions are best suited to members of the branch in whose category they are placed. IE: Knights Templars are best equipped to handle missions in the Knights Templar category.

Added another mission to the list and restructured it slightly. There are no longer seperate categories for the missions, they're simply listed as 'Templar Missions'. This reflects the policy that no branch of the Templar Order is barred from taking a certain mission. You can take any mission you want.

However, I would ask you to bear in mind that stealth-oriented missions may be better suited to Templar Wraith characters, while combat-heavy missions will be better suited to Knights Templar characters.

As a warning to all the members of this faction, I'm sorry to say that I am shutting it down. I've lost interest in running this and it looks like it's died out anyways.

However, if anyone wishes to take it over, or if anyone wishes to absorb it into their faction, PM me or post here. If not, I'll be asking for it to be locked and archived in a few days. It's been fun while it's lasted, guys.
