The status of Tatooine

Hello everyone who reads this board i am new to this site. Me and my friends are joining and thinking of creating an independent faction, and would like to start far off from the center of activities. So i would like to ask: In this timeline is Tatooine still that arid hell hole devoid of all civilization that we have all came to know and love ? Thank you to any who help. Other questions of interest are how many troops a military based faction could have (If the starting number is based on certain factors and you can't tell me i'll just ask after me and my friends write up the faction)

Right now, Tatooine is owned by the Hutt faction. You can check out how much you can start out with if you check the Independent faction section. Though it may be a better idea if you simply join a main faction like the Republic or Hutts who could use more members. And there are plenty of independent factions which you could join.

Tatooine has been a desert since it was bombarded by the Infinite Empire, long before the current timeline in canon, so that tidbit is still in effect.

I suppose what im asking is would a fort burried under the dunes and a force of soliders appropriate for a new faction go unnoticed or would a bunch of Hutt troops rape us hard just for being there

Well, depends on the defences and whether or not you have made any alliances with the Hutts.

If you haven't got decent defences and a decent alliance, expect to be raped.

For right now, it would probably be better if you were to join an existing faction to boost their numbers and get used to RPing with fellow SWRPinites.
