The Run - Customs and Excise Command Station
[Coruscant]

tumblr_n8pdr2cCel1qazddzo1_1280.jpg

Characters:

Ship: Grobu's Bounty
Captain: Verguxa
Crew: Renn Starfall and Mulako Tllkth
Passenger: Siah Toan
Cargo: Seven large durasteel crates (200kgs each).

Ord Mantell:
The HoloNet message was clear and concise:
“Traveller (single) and cargo (1.5 tons) seeking passage from Ord Mantell to Denon. Offering 50,000 credits.”

Coruscant:
Having been all but destroyed in the great Sith invasion of the Core, Coruscant stands now only as a reminder of how fully an empire can crumble. The planet is no longer hospitable. Devastated by force-storms and littered with crumbling architecture, Coruscant is now a death trap. The jewel of the Galactic Republic is now simply a rock around which the Imperium has built hundreds of space stations. Here, at the core of the galaxy the Imperium carries out the logistics behind its massive operations.

The Customs and Excise station is tasked solely with tracking goods and cargo through Imperium space. The station is massive, able to dock over fifty vessels at once it has a crew of four hundred at any given time. The armaments are classified, but it is plainly obvious that with the Imperial blockade in this sector any armaments are redundant.
The station is high-tech and sports the latest in engineering and technological trends. Being a hub for commerce, it has a sizeable budget.
The canteen is well stocked and the Imperial Officers are always looking for a good laugh. With 30 floors and over 150 offices, the space station is a very large place with some very dark corners...

Grobu's Bounty was cleared to dock and disembark.

Renn looked through the cockpit in awe. "I've never been here before. This place looks sweet!" Hunter walked back into to the room on his normal patrol. "How can you know if this place is sweet master? You've never been here, and you haven't tasted it yet." He continued to walk. Renn shook his head. "Just shut up and protect the cargo." He looked at Verguxa, "Hurry up and land this thing, I want to tak a look around."

Having paid a handsome fee for the legitimate documentation, Siah Toan was eagerly awaiting the next step in the journey. He stood passively behind Verguxa and looked out at the massive station before him. As Grobu's Bounty neared the station it's true magnificence became apparent. Entire starships were dwarfed by the size and scale of the station. The Ithorian was somewhat in awe at the ingenuity of the Sith Empire in having constructed such a behemoth.

Meanwhile, on board the CE Station a uniformed officer marched purposefully along a dimly lit corridor. He had failed to procure the services of an eccentric smuggler and felt that his window to act was quickly closing. He needed to find someone who would do almost anything for a quick credit. He passed the security checkpoint and entered into the canteen, his narrowed eyes scanned the room for any non-Imperials.

"Probably owe half these people money, make sure they don't notice me" Verguxa said, piloting the ship though into the hanger bay of the space station and landed the ship next to the other ships, making the ship shake with a less than graceful landing.

"Whatever we gotta do, lets do it hammerhead" Verguxa said putting on his helmet as an attempt to not draw attention to his obvious features.

Siah, after Verguxa's instruction, was standing at the ramp waiting for it to fully extend. He moved quickly for an Ithorian, as he walked down the ramp.
"This may take a while, you could wait here at the ship or at the canteen. This station is filled with entrepreneurial types, maybe you two could set yourselves up for the next job?" With those words of wisdom the ponderous Ithorian was off at a decent pace.

The hangar bay was massive, it was a hive of activity. Mechanics and slicers worked tirelessly on multiple vessels. Robots scurried back and forth amongst the cargo holds. Imperial Officers were documenting and checking cargos. Despite the buzz of activity, the station was pristine and unblemished. It was as if new floors and walls had just been installed. If cleanliness was akin to godliness... this station was home to a pantheon.

As Siah disappeared down one of many corridors, his fellow shipmates could see that no one really paid them much attention at all. It seemed that everyone was too concerned with their jobs to pay any attention to the new vessel or its crew. On a large neon signboard was a map of the hangar and cargo bays. Using this map would be easy enough, as would locating the canteen.

Renn left Looms with Hunter and the ship and headed towards the canteen using the map. He had left his saber and helmet in the ship. His blaster rifle was strapped on his back, and he was wearing a knife on his belt. Renn didn't know what to expect when he walked into the canteen.

"Yeah, would you believe that? And guess what I told her?" "What?" "I lost it 2 years ago!" The two would explode into a fit of laughter. "Good joke, right?" "Of course it's a good joke, Marek! Why aren't you a comedian?" "Because I'm better with a blaster than I am with a microphone." "True." The man telling the joke looked like some kind terminator. He wore one of the fanciest, most customized, largest, and advanced suits of Mandalorian Beskar armor that anybody had seen on the station in a very long time. His armor was Black, with Gold linings and multiple swirls. He had Jaig eyes, and numerous other awards all on his armor. He wore a long, armored kama and had dual disruptor pistols. Across his back was a rather large gun that appeared to be one of those disruptor rifles, extremely illegal. on his back was a large, flowing Black cape with gold embroidery and a large Mandalorian crest on the back. On his head was an advanced Mandalorian helmet with a red tinted visor, and numerous bits of advanced technology. It looked somewhat like a space suit with the amount of armor that was on it. In all truth, it was Mandalorian Power armor. The man he told the joke wore virtually the same thing, except he lacked a cape and instead of dual blasters, he had two scatter guns and a large bowcaster slung across his shoulder. "Wait a second.." He would turn to look at the ship that had just arrived. That can't be. There is no way in hell that that is him. "Ramsey, do you recognize that ship?" "I sure do..." "Let's go pay them a visit..." The two would walk up to the ship, paying very close attention to it and keeping an eye on everything on and around the ship.

The canteen on the CE Space Station was chic. It sported the latest in ergonomic synth-muscle chairs. The chairs morphed to suit the body shape and type of the sitter. The bar counter was translucent plasteel with an LED touch-display for ordering drinks. There were three high end protocol droids manning the bar counter at all times. They spoke a myriad of languages fluently and seemed to have perfect manners.

Seeing Renn enter the canteen one of the droids greeted him in near perfect Mando'a, "Gr33tings sir. W3lcom3 to th3 cant33n. Would you lik3 to order a r3fr3shm3nt?" The droid pointed to the LED touch-display on the bar counter. There seemed to be thousands of drinks available from throughout the galaxy.

Sitting quietly by himself in a corner, a Sith Officer sipped his drink slowly. He treid to appear deep in thought, while he watched all newcomers intently. He was not good at subterfuge and was easy to spot.

"Hey, let's get on board." "Oh boy... this probably isn't going to go well." "They left it open! What could possibly go wrong?" They both pulled their weapons, slowly making their way on board the ship.

Renn raised an eyebrow at the droid. He hasn't heard anyone speak mando'a for a while, and was surprised to hear it from this droid. "Y3s. I think wat3r will do." He said, and sat at the bar.

Meanwhile, on the ship, Hunter detected the two mandalorians boarding the ship. "Stop. Tresspassers will be shot on sight. You have been warned." He readied his rifle. Looms sat up when he heard the droid say that. He winced as he stood up, leaning against the wall. "What the hell is going on!" He growled.

Verguxa heard yelling from the ramp and decided to investigate. Stumbling, he approached the intruders. "Get away from the damn ship" Verguxa yelled, activating his flamethrower and scorching the air in front of him in an attempt to ward off the intruders.

Oblivious to the nearby Imperial troopers, Verguxa pulled out his blaster pistol and fired, missing due to his drunken state.

The protocol droid turned agilely on the spot, its servos making a slight whining noise. With fluid motions, the droid poured a glass of Dantooine spring water. The water was chilled and frosted up the glass as it was poured.
The Imperial Officer in the corner slowly stood up and approached the bar. He watched this blue armoured Mandalorian intently. He was not good at sizing people up and supposed that this armoured individual 'should' know how to handle dangerous situations.
The older man sat down next to Renn, "Hello. Name's Jaco I work here. Couldn't help noticing that pretty impressive getup you have there." He waved dismissively at the protocol droid before it could offer him a drink.
"Where you from, my friend?" he asked interestedly.

The hangar came alive the second Verguxa loosed his flame thrower. The security droids had their weapons out in a moment and their targeting matrices locked onto the humanoids brandishing weapons on a boarding ramp. Mechanics scattered and an amber strobe light flashed on and off in time to a dull alarm. "Security teams to hangar bay. Security teams to hangar bay. Armed conflict reported!"

A small contingent of Imperial soldiers drew their weapons and approached Grobu's Bounty from behind a stack of crates. The security droids were closer and halted a few meters away from the ship. The four droids trained their weapons on the small group, "Cease and desist! Lower your weapons and subject yourselves to arrest!" The order came from a large interrogation droid with a metallic, monotone voice.

Suddenly, the droids deactivated as the sound of an employee charge went off. A shadow costed the room then dissapeared

Renn took a sip of the water. Ice cold. He looked up at Jaco when he sat down next to him. "I'm from Mandalore. The name's Renn." He took another sip.

Looms grunted when the charge went off. "I'm surrounded by crazies." He mumbled. Hunter fell to the ground in a metal heap. He wouldn't turn on for another ten minutes.

"Ah," said the older man, his eyebrows created creases as they lifted in interest. He smiled a crooked smile at Renn, "So what brings a Mandalorian here? I haven't seen many bounty-hunters or mercenaries here." Craning his head to check if anyone was near, Jaco shifted his weight and leaned in.
"Tell me, Renn. Are you handy with those weapons of yours? I may have a lot of credits for a skilled artisan." The grey-haired Jaco smiled his crooked smile and nodded to himself. He seemed pleased that he had found the one he was looking for.

Seeing the security droids deactivated by an EMP charged explosion caused the Imperial soldiers to open fire on the aggressors. The squad of nine were armed with blaster rifles, flechette launchers and one carried a repeating sniper rifle. The Sergeant threw a concussion grenade that landed squarely on the ramp and exploded moments later.
Massive blast doors slammed into place instantaneously cutting off all exits from the hangar. Force fields went up through out the hangar, effectively preventing any vessels from docking or leaving. The amber strobe light turned a bright red and the dull alarm began emitting a loud screech.

"All security personnel report to security checkpoint Delta 5! Code Red, explosive ordinance used in hangar. All security personnel report to security checkpoint Delta 5!"

Outside the locked-down hangar, there were troopers gearing up for an assault. Snipers were making their way to the upper gangplanks, and would soon be in a position to provide deadly accurate fire as soon as the blast doors were opened. The downed droids would reactivate in a few minutes.

Siah was in the office, undergoing a thorough questioning when he heard the sirens going off. He got to his feet slowly. The Imperial officer was out of the office before the Ithorian had even got out of the chair. Siah stood patiently, waiting for the officer to return.

The canteen was emptied in moments, once the call for reinforcements had gone out over the speaker systems. Jaco feebly grabbed Renn's arm. He motioned with his head for Renn to follow and headed down a corridor, away from the hangar.

"We'll talk to Verguxa later, for now, we've got a bigger problem!" Firing their disruptor weapons at the troopers, 3 would go down, flying back from the force as their armor disintegrated. The missed shots destroyed crates with ease, and pulled up flooring. "I got a bad feeling about this!"

"You damn-" Verguxa's drunken outrage was cut off by a laser just missing his head. Verguxa, too drunk to think rationally, flew with his jetpack towards the duo, attempting to tackle one of them to the ground.

"Hey look, it's him!" "Oh, hey Ve- DUCK!" He'd tackle him and his companion to the ground, as Verguxa zoomed passed them...

The crates in front of the Imperial troopers took the brunt of the attack... a few crates shifted, but weighing tonnes they didn't move much. The Sergeant threw another concussive grenade and it detonated two meters above the ramp. The shrapnel ripped about the immediate area. The rest of the troopers kept firing at the two armoured individuals. The sharpshooter aimed for the man wearing the black armour, he fired for a headshot.

A blast door slid loudly open. A platoon of three assault squads and one heavy weapon squad ran in and took up positions behind cover. The assault squads laid down covering fire while the heavy weapon troopers set up their gear. From just under 100 meters away, the squads were in a perfect position for a long ranged attack. Moments later a line of sharp shooters entered the hangar, they took cover behind the furthest crates and starfliers, almost 200 meters from Grobu's Bounty.

The massive door slid shut again.

Siah stared around the office of the Customs Official. The Ithorian had heard the warnings and chaos over the station's loudspeaker systems. Yet the force kept him in this empty office. He didn't like the uncomfortably clinical look of this 'workspace'.
