Two young street rats living in the horrible city of Nar Shaddaa. Fighting for what they needed to subsist, and living in a terrible place for children, these two siblings had nothing but each other. The Elus siblings were thieves and very good ones. They looked so much alike with their fair skin, green eyes, and dark brown hair. Algent Elus was only seven, but his sister, Methara Elus had just turned eighteen. They were notorious for stealing credits, food, and anything they could get their hands on, and then they would disappear before their victim would even realize who they were. Like the many thieves and orphans before them, they were not on the streets by choice.

Their mother raised Methara for most of her life, but died when Algent was three, so he did not particularly remember her. However, Methara was taught skills to survive by her mother. Some of these skills were necessary, and others were inappropriate for someone of the streets to know. Methara raised her younger brother since the time she was thirteen, and passed all of the skills she learned from their mother to him. Algent had made a terrible mistake that ended up splitting him from his sister, and changing his perspective of the world forever. However it did bring him to find the Jedi where his skills were most useful.

In Present Time...

Young Algent Elus is nineteen and has been through full initiate training. He has been formally trained in the pillars of the Jedi for over a decade as an initiate and simply awaits a master. Algent's skills with a staff are quite formidable and have only flourished since his joining with the Jedi. Now he seeks to become a full fledged Jedi Knight, and serve the galaxy as he feels it rightfully should be served. His mind was still stirred and altered by the day that brought him to the Jedi. The Jedi teachings were implanted, but Algent's true focus was not on them. His ideals from the day he lost his sister were more firmly placed than the Jedi way. However, he still wished to finish his training as a Jedi since he had such a long way to go.

Algent Elus headed to the corridor in which he would meet his new master with one of the Jedi Instructors. He did not know whom it would be, and the Jedi instructor leading him to the chamber would not tell him until they formally met. When they arrived, the large room was incredibly tall with the ceiling seemingly miles out of reach. It had a nice blue tone with plenty of yellow as well. There were several other Padawans training with their masters there as well. Both the young Padawan and Jedi Instructor looked around for the Algent's teacher.

Zolotoy Tsviets' ship landed on Tython. The Jedi Knight had just come to the temple on Coruscant to help train Padawans on Tython. As he disembarked and walked to the temple, he skimmed the report the Jedi had given him.

Zolotoy's new apprentice was named Algent Elus. The file included the initiate's grades, history, and an evaluation.

"He has potential," murmered Zolotoy.

Zolotoy, having remembered the layout of the temple from his last visit, toured the corridors, reaching a large hall. There were many Jedi inside. As he scanned the inhabitants, he spotted someone who looked just like the person in the picture attached to Algent's file.

"Are you Algent Elus?" inquired Zolotoy. "I am Zolotoy Tsviets, your new instructor."

Algent Elus and the Jedi Instructor with him were approached by a Jedi Knight whom the Jedi Instructor looked much older than. The Jedi Instructor slowly and quietly left the two as they got acquainted. Elus turned to face his Jedi Master that was two inches taller than Elus was. The Jedi Knight was obviously more experienced, and Elus was not taught anything but first part of the core Force powers during his time as an initiate. However, Elus was still well versed in the three pillars of the Jedi. The boy whom was less than timid and frail turned his attention to his new master.

"Yes I'm Algent Elus," greeted the Padawan, "It is nice to meet you."

Zolotoy shook the Padawan's head.

"The pleasure is mine," said Zolotoy. He faced the instructor. "Is there somewhere private we can go to?"

The Padawan, in response to his master's request, looked around at the room. He did not exactly have a good place to go in mind, and the Padawan did not see anything wrong with the current room they were in. He saw only a few other couples training together, and they did not seem to have a problem with others being there. Once Algent Elus was done with his inspection of the room, he turned back to his master.

"Well I don't exactly have-" the Padawan hesitated for a moment, "I think I might have a place." The Jedi turned and walked a few steps towards the door, "Follow me," called out the young one with a wave of his hand.

Later...

The location that Algent Elus brought Zolotoy to was a wonderful waterfall that was about forty paces away from the Jedi monastery of Tython. It flowed beautifully and mysteriously into a lake. The lake weirdly never overflowed as if it was being drained somewhere at the same rate it was being filled. The waterfall was coming from a river that came directly from the top of the mountain. It was a beautiful contrast of white to the green background of multiple plants. The fish were happy and so were the animals. Algent himself would go to the place to think while sitting on the rock that was directly sticking out of the water. Algent had found the place when his transport to Tython five years ago had crashed. It was a profound calm that the Padawan enjoyed when he needed to reflect at times.

Algent was uncertain where to go when Zolotoy submitted his request that they go to a more private location. While their current location would have worked, the other people in the room would have been a distraction. Luckily, as if in an epiphany, Algent led Zolotoy to a private location.

Zolotoy had to admit that Algent had chosen an excellent place to train, albeith the walking distance, which Zolotoy could live with.

"I have to admit I never found this place while I was on Tython before," said Zolotoy.

He walked over to a rock pointing out of the water. Using telekinesis to keep himself in the air, it almost appeared as if he was walking on water. He sat down on the slant boulder that was located to a parallel one, urging Algent to sit at the opposite spot.

"I've read the report, but I'd like to hear it from you," said Zolotoy. "Why did you join the Jedi Order? Why stay? And why do you want to become a Jedi Knight?

Algent moved to the edge of the water where his master had continued to move forth with the Force. It was not something that Algent reacted to since he had seen a floating meditation before as well. When called to his master, Algent jumped from the rocks in the lake and out to the one parallel to his master's rock. While taking a seat, Algent was asked a question by his master. It was relatively easy for him to answer his master's second question.

"I have no other place to go," replied Elus with a long sigh, "I joined the order when my sister died. I was seven and she had raised me since my mother died when I was three. She died because of my mistake, and I was lucky enough to be taken in by the Jedi." Algent Elus had a look of minor distress on his face, and he did not answer the last question because he had no answer for it.

Zolotoy got the hint in regards to the last question. Most Padawans wanted to become Knights for the power, both in title and in the Force. Algent showed that he wasn't as ambitious, for ambition can lead to the Dark Side.

"I see," said Zolotoy. "My condolences." He paused. "So, Algent, what do you hope to make yourself as? A protector of the weak? A defender of justice? A mediator between tensions? Where do you hope to focus your studies on; your approach."

Algent quietly thought to himself for a moment. He drifted through his emotions until he finally thought of what he wanted to be. It was a difficulty he was having at where he wanted to go with his life. Algent decided what he wanted for the future, his future. Ever since his sister died, he had been so conflicted with what should be done. Now, there was no doubt in his mind of what he should do.

"A revolutionary," Elus replied slowly but firmly, "The only reason my sister died was because she only wished for freedom. There needs to be freedom so that there can be peace. I will see it done."

Algent Elus was to be a revolutionary of the universe. Someone who would look over the galaxy and present it with freedom and peace. The end to a hollow and unjust universe was what Algent wished for. One that did not punish the wrong or reward the right was the current galaxy they lived in. Algent wanted to change that as a Jedi.

A Revolutionary, huh? Zolotoy considered the thought. Jedi were the guardians of peace and justice. While revolutions against the weak sounded the weak, the road could lead to the Dark Side.

"If that's your goal, you must be wary of your emotions,"
said Zolotoy. "Do not use hatred and vengeance to fuel your goals. That will only lead to self-destruction. Instead of avenging your sister, use her as inspiration." Zolotoy paused. "How do you plan to accomplish your goals?"

"It was her dream," commented Algent Elus, "I will follow her dream to make up for my mistake. If it was not for me, she would have been free. I am no hero, but I know what I must become."

Algent Elus stopped for a moment to think of what he was going to transform himself into. He was the hero that universe needed and deserved. He knew exactly what he had to be. He would accomplish his goal by his own vindication and strife. Algent knew exactly what had to be done for the universe to be at rest, for his atonement to be complete, and for his mind to be put at ease.

"A 'Shadow,'" Algent whispered to himself silently. He turned to his master and reprose what he had said, "I will be a shadow. I will put this universe at ease, and present the utopia that my sister dreamed of." Algent paused and shut his eyes for a moment, "For me, for the universe... for her. I will accomplish this goal as a 'Shadow.'"

"The path of the Shadow is determined by the Council," said Zolotoy. "You'll need to train very hard. Let's see what you can do, then. What powers do you know now? What do you want to know?"

Algent Elus thought to himself for a moment in an attempt to remember what he had been taught. "I have been trained in the first of the core Force powers; control," Algent paused for a moment and looked up at the sky before reply, "I also know the three pillars of the Force. I thought I would begin to learn the next of the core Force powers; sense."

The young Padawan actually knew very little about what it would take to be a shadow. Since he had never heard of the Jedi Shadow before, and the fact he was only being metaphorical, Algent was simply thinking of being a black knight in a matter of speaking. A stealthy warrior who worked in the shadows as more of an anti-hero or vigilante than a pillar of justice. What he wanted to be was truly a Jedi Shadow, but Algent Elus did not know this yet.

Algent then mumbled quietly to himself, "Then there is always the skills my sister taught me..."

Zolotoy was intrigued by the mentioning of skills taught by Algent's sister.

"What skills did your sister teach you?" inquired Zolotoy.

Algent Elus shrugged to himself for a minute while he thought about all the skills. When he finally had an answer her replied, "Well there was the two years of learning how to use a staff. I'm much better with one now. Then there was also all the evasive movement training. I'm really quick now, and I'm great at traversing long distance over a small period of time. I guess a great deal of stuff. Oh and I know how to pick pocket."

It was an incredibly large deal of things that his sister taught him. They were all skills of an agile thief. Things like how to traverse urban terrain and fighting were things you would need on the streets of Nar Shaddaa. Pick pocketing was also a great skill to pick up. It was not exactly an odd combination for someone born of the dirt to know.

Zolotoy sighed. For a moment there, he worried that maybe a non-Jedi cult, specifically a Dark Side one, had taught Algent. Instead, it was the trade of the thief.

Zolotoy jokingly put his hands over the covers to his pockets. "I better watch myself then."

Zolotoy got serious again. "Those skills will be useful in stealth. Let us test your skills over basic powers."

Zolotoy lifted a stone with telekinesis.

"How many can you levitate?"

The young Padawan, Algent Elus, looked over at the stones with grass for a moment while he thought about it. There was not a single chance that Algent would be able to lift any rock because he did not know anything about telekinesis. He knew what it looked like and its applications, but he himself did not know how to utilize it. He did not even learn anything about using Force sense the core; Force power required before alter. Algent decided to look back at his master and replied to his question by telling him about his inability.

"I believe anywhere between none and none," jokingly spoke the Padawan, "Like I said master, I have only been trained in the first of the core Force powers; control. I believe that is an alter Force power, I still need to learn the second, sense, before learning any alter."

Algent truly did not know anything about using alter Force powers, and he had barely begun to learn how to use sense. He had just finished his initiate training, and so he had just the basics like working with a training saber though he preferred the staff. Algent was not ready to use telekinesis or any of the alter powers without first going through sense training.

"Then we'll start with the basics," said Zolotoy.

Zolotoy placed the stone he had telekinetically lifted and placed it on the shore. He motioned with his hands towards the pebble.

"Focus on that pebble and imagine yourself reaching out and lifting it," said Zolotoy.

Following the instruction of his master, Algent turned to the pebbles and focused in on it. He shut his eyes and lifted his hand towards the direction of the pebble. He tried to focus in on how it would look if the pebble lifted off the ground if only a few inches. He did not exactly know what he was doing since he had never attempted telekinesis before.

Algent called to his master mid-focus, "Am I doing it master?"

"Yes," acknowledge Zolotoy.

Zolotoy motioned to a rock twice the size as the pebble Algent lifted.

"First, we'll go up in size," said Zolotoy. "Once you've mastered lifting heavier objects, we'll try lifting multiple objects at once."

The water was filled with rocks of different shapes and sizes for Algent to practice with.
