She had days stranger than this one?

Somewhere in the back of his mind, Crix was aware that being shot at and almost being arrested was supposed to be more Strange than most normal people could handle in their lifetime, let alone one day. His head wasn’t in it however and he was busy comparing it to his own regular activities. It wasn’t something all that strange to him either now that he thought about it in a comparative light for more than a few moments.

He smirked back at her, ignoring the comment about the day seeming relaxed to fire off a snappy comeback to her assumption about Jedi.

“No, we can only go get coffee with the beautiful ones – so I’m still good with you.”
He shot back with a wink before chuckling, “Don’t worry, I’m not going to bring down some Jedi chaperone down on your head like a tonne of bricks.”

Though he did grimace at the mention of food.

“The Temple has the worst food I’ve ever tasted.”
He confirmed, sticking his tongue out in distaste at the memory of the taste alone, “Honestly – crimes against food. What about you Lyra? What do you do and does it allow you to enjoy the true pleasure that comes from a good cup of coffee?”

It took her a moment to process who he could only get coffee with and as she opened her mouth to stop him and correct him in his Jedi teachings, she realized what he actually said and smirked, her cheeks flushing lightly. She took his reassurance with a grain of salt though, certain he did have some Jedi chaperone and fully expected someone to intervene rather soon. Until there, she would enjoy this, maybe even get something worth her effort in the end.

The speeder drifted slightly as she took it in the direction of the clinic, he continued about the food and she would rather take him complaining about what the temple feeds him over being shot from earlier. He then turned the question to her, asking her what she did. For certain, she knew who she was, but that detail would probably give him a minor stroke after everything he went through today. That was if he believed her.

Tiamat shrugged, "I do jobs here and there. Mainly repairing work with navigation computers and hyperdrives. Droids sometimes too." she glanced at Crix. She indeed spent much of her time with navigational equipment, taking it apart, putting it back together; much of her first years on her own she relied on her ability to work with droids, but her own interests have turned to the advanced mechanisms of lightspeed travel. "So I think that permits me to have coffee with a Jedi." she grinned, landing the speeder at the hospital.

Aha! That one had landed - Crix might have been trying to be a respectable Jedi type these days but he wasn't going to lie and say that he had changed completely from his time before the Order. He had enjoyed flirting since he was old enough to have even the vaguest idea what it even was and this? This was no exception, perhaps even enhanced by the fact that he was also currently in pain. Still, he caught her blushing and he couldn't help the grin that spread across his face.

Making a beautiful redhead blush? Day wasn't a total loss after all!

And she worked on repairing computers and droids? Well if this was the Force's way of balancing out being shot, by setting him up to spend time with such a compatible bombshell? If the Force worked like that? Going Jedi had been worth all the aggravation and then some!

Managing to get out of the speeder without assistance (probably would have killed his flow to need her help to get out), he grinned over the hood of the speeder back at her.

"Now I know I'm probably being set up for some reality holovid drama."
he teased her, "Beautiful redhead who repairs starships, computers and droids as part of her day to day life? Capable in a fight and doesn't even flinch getting me out of trouble?"

He placed a hand on his chest before moving it slightly.

"Be still my beating hearts, I think I've found myself the woman of my dreams."
he gave her a wink and a smirk, "Treatment after coffee?"

What could he say? He was eager!

She walked around the speeder to help him out, seeing he was in a delightful mood despite his nasty blaster wounds. She also thought she probably stroked some of his ego by falling for his flirts; though she would admit, he was pretty good at it. Smirking at the coincidence of everything he liked in a girl, she helped him out of the speeder and into the emergency hall. She didn't mind the compliments finding this befriending thing a whole lot easier when there were deranged droids after you.

"Alright there, Don Juan, lets do one thing at a time." she said as he went on about her being a woman of his dreams, "Lets get you checked out first and the we can get coffee after, and go from there." she said approaching the nurses station. The nurse was an artifact of a Pantoran. She looked as though if she were to tip over, she would just shatter, and her name was a lovely, Agnus. Internally, Tiamat felt herself groan with unhappiness, especially with how talkative Crix was being; he was clearly still feeling the adrenaline rush.

"Blaster injuries." she explained and the nurse stared between the two of them, "Needs some stitches and looked over." Tiamat added. Angus looked down at her clipboard, flipping a few pages before writing down something that she could not read. The nurse slapped down an intake card and directed them to the waiting room adjacent from the main one.

Well getting some bacta slapped onto his shoulder before it became too much to be treated without surgery worked well for him. Avoiding surgery was sexier than even a redheaded mechanic who was willing to shoot scumbags and killer droids with him. And THAT? That was pretty damned hard to beat but having both arms was still better.

He wasn't ready to join that exclusive Jedi one-armed club - that was more for Masters anyway. Crix wasn't one for waiting however so he decided it was time to use a little touch of his own, personal, magic. Leaning against the desk, he smiled at Agnus.

"Hi, Agnus is it?"
he asked, having already read her nametag, "Just to let you know... This is a 2119 type of situation."

2119 was the code set up between Rangers and local healthcare providers that let them know that there was an ongoing situation the Ranger needed to get back to. Because of that it was, basically, a code used to skip to the head of the line rather than waiting at the back of the queue. The fact that he waved his hand a little, using the Mind Trick, just helped it sink in that he was using the code and, because he knew it, he was 'obviously' authorized to use it.

Agnus nodded and picked up a com unit to call the code in as Crix moved to sit beside Tiamat with a groan.

"I should be next."
he assured her with a slightly cocky grin, "Coruscant is my town... sometimes I wonder why I ever left it and other times?"

He deliberately looked around at the locals around them before raising his eye-ridge at her.

"Other times it reminds me. You wanna head up top a few levels for that coffee? Less likely to have blasterfire to go with the coffee."

If Tiamat was being honest with herself, she was certain that they were never going to be able to get that cup of Kaf together at this rate. It seemed like as much as the stars aligned just right for them to cross paths, exchange comm digits, fight some droids, and then go their own way until next time. She sighed and turned to see Crix no longer beside her as she looked to see him still at the desk, speaking with Agnus. She observed him carefully, and she saw the subtle hand movement that seemed to push the nurse into doing what he would like to have done instead. The girl smirked, shaking her head.

The nurse picked up her comm and then he caught up with the redhead, taking a seat next to her in the waiting room and noting he should be next. "Ah, Agnus must have been pretty understanding then?" she asked, though more rhetorically while she sat back and relaxed for the moment. He mentioned how Coruscant was his town and something about leaving?

"I lived here for a while when my parents were stationed here, but Corellia was much better for raising a family they said. So we moved there for a while before I started moving again." she explained, feeling herself reminiscent over her past for a brief moment until he mentioned something about getting coffee on the upper levels. Her own mind started to get lost in her thoughts, feeling it slowly processing the last hour until she refocused, glancing at Crix, "I would prefer my coffee without blaster fire. If that is possible." she quipped and looked up to see a nurse call for Crix to take him back and patch him up.

Oh she had caught him waving his hand a little under the cover of the counter? Well she wasn’t holding it against him so that was a plus. Some people tended to get a bit funny about someone using the Mind Trick like that, it tended to remind them that the ability to push suggestions onto the weak-willed actually existed.

Thankfully she wasn’t acting like he was some kind of space-demon because of it.

“Lovely lady, that Agnus.”
He agreed in a faux-mild voice while he tried to hide the fact that he was smiling through it all, “Corellia… see I spent some time there but mainly around the junk dealers.”

Crix… did not have good memories of Corellia.

He smiled and moved off to get his treatment, his thoughts drifting back to Corellia at its mention. The junkyards, he had been honest about, but not what happened in those junkyards. His mind wandered back to the Sith who have torn through his mind to drag out secrets and memories from him, all to be used against his mom.

Using some techniques taught to him by Hans and by his therapist, he pushed past the memories and the accompanying emotions. Thankfully the treatment turned out to be a quick set of stitches and an injection of pure bacta before he was good to go. Grinning to the doctors, he headed back out to the waiting area and gestured to the doors.

“Coffee awaits us Lyra.”
He grinned a little bit, “Does this count as the weirdest first date you’ve ever had yet?”

Was it technically a first date? Maybe not but he was going to try and push his luck and see if she was willing to consider it such! The Force loved a try-er after all.

Patiently, Tiamat would wait for Crix to return. She tried to not let the odd crowd in the waiting room distract her too much as it was not the uncomfortableness being around others, but the memories of being in a hospital similar. Her running started shortly after that hospital stay as soon as the swelling in her face went down far enough for her to see and breath better again. She had been too fearful to return, and had soon found out, her relatives did not want her returning either. She felt herself rubbing the cheek that was nearly shattered and a faint grin followed, realizing how far she had come since then.

Time trickled by quicker than she expected and Crix emerged still in just as a chipper mood as before. She rose from her seat, stretching quickly while he gestured to the doors, suggesting their coffee date.

She raised her eyebrows when he thought this to be the weirdest first dates she could possibly experience, and the girl had to pause and think on that. She frowned to her thoughts, most of her dates have been pleasant, or they had been on the extreme opposite of horrendous. But was this a date? She was just wanting to get a coffee...but then again, she guessed in vague terms, it was kind of a 'date' with friends?

"First? We're getting coffee, not in a date-date way, just two people, getting a hot drink and talking?" She paused, finding that sounded terribly like a date, "Yeah, just coffee...". Tiamat's cheeks warmed bright red as she hopped into the speeder and waited for Crix before taking off to the upper levels.

Crix didn't miss the way that her cheeks brightened ever so slightly when she denied that it was a date... while descibing a first date pretty damn well actually. She got it almost to a T as far as he was concerned. Seemed she felt the same way despite her denial and he couldn't help but find it endearing and also proof positive of two things.

It was, indeed, a first date.

And Lyra was enjoying herself with said first date more than she let on.

"Of course... of course!"

Sitting in the seat beside her, letting her drive since he had just had (very minor) work done on his shoulder, he grinned a little bit before adding.

"Out of interest - is there any reason why it can't be a date?"
he asked with a faux-casual smile, "Hopefully this isn't the part where you admit you have a partner."

Knowing his luck recently?

Real possibility actually.

Yeah, he was convinced this was a first date regardless of what she thought it was; though Tiamat was not entirely convinced herself that this wasn't a date. It was something...this day had been something in fact. Crix wouldn't drop it though, now curious why she would not consider it a date. Her eyebrows rose, feeling her cheeks glow as red as her hair as she pulled onto the overpass traffic, heading to a coffee shop that she hoped was still present.

"A partner?" Tiamat frowned as she thought about Emryc, "I don't think I do..." she felt herself lose herself in thought as she tried to decide what her and Emryc were now, "I like a few...but nothings official...just guy friends." she quickly recovered as she guided the speeder down to a quiet street on the upper levels.

She glanced at Crix trying to gauge is reaction, "Its easier...especially when you still don't know what you want for yourself, you know?" she smiled and hopped out of the speeder, moving to the other side to help Crix out too. "C'mon though, this place has been around forever, so I hope its still here." she said refocusing back on getting their cup of caf as she lead the way to a small space that did not indicate it was a coffee shop unless one knew what it was firsthand.

The answer he received wasn’t exactly what he wanted to hear and it dampened his enthusiasm a bit but it did give him a second or two to actually think. He… well he knew what that was like. Crix himself had had something like that with Penny and then with Willa as well and he had had to make the hard choice, to set the record straight regardless of how much it felt like a teenage boy’s dream to have two women fighting over him.

He'd set them both straight with nothing but complete honesty and now they were far from that situation anymore; Penny had run away and Willa had turned to her training to focus on instead of anything else. So, yeah, he knew what it was like to live in a perpetual “It’s complicated” situation and he didn’t envy her.

“One of those complicated situations I take it? I get it.”
He told her with a little chuckle, “I’ll not push too hard, let you figure out that you actually want out of that situation.”

He gave her a sly wink.

“Just gonna keep on being an option for you in the mean time Lyra…”

But coffee could also be just that – coffee.
