[fancybox2]THE B'AY TRIBE[/fancybox2]
[fancybox2]

One of the Oldest Tribes on Tatooine, the B'ay Tribe have been there since the beginning. Handling such units as 'R2 D2' and meeting such noted clientele as the Skywalkers themselves, the B'ays are an integral part of Tatooines history, and some would say, even the Galaxies.

Society and Culture

The Jawa traditionally form tight knit communities known as tribes, no matter what planet they find themselves on. Compulsive scavengers, they search for anything of value they can find in their 'tribal lands' seeking to break it down, repair it, or sell it on - or keep what they find for the Tribe. Most non-jawas hold the species in low regard, but grudgingly accept their usefulness as scavengers and engineers; indeed often if it exists, a Jawa tribe can find it.

Each Jawa is part of a separate clan family each with their own distinctive lands and areas in which they are known to salvage. Clans sent out the traditional Sandcrawlers, with each crawler capable of holding up to 300 Jawas, lead by a Clan Chief - who was usually male. Whilst the Crawler is lead by the Chief, the actual tribe is lead by a female Shaman, who often posses a form of untrained force sensitivity, the title of Shaman gave the Jawa in question a great deal of respect in Jawa Society.

Primarily, the occupation of the Jawas was salvaging, and once they became adults the Jawas joined their Sandcrawler expeditions, with the rest of the Clan living in Fortresses at the heart of their territory. Once per year, the Jawas of the Planet meet, in what was known as the 'Swap Meet' to discuss inter-clan business, however these meets have become more frequent with the modernization of the Galaxy, and swap-meets can be called once per month, and are even know now to incorporate people from outside the Jawa community.

Law and Order

Jawas, often called thieves and cheats by the rest of the Galaxy, do surprisingly have their own laws and manner of enforcing them. Trade is essential in the process, and most punishments revolve around the Jawa in question being forced to make amends with suitable payment, apart from in the most heinous of crimes.

Theft is something the Jawa do not understand, and in so long as the item in question was paid for, or something was left in its place which could be argued to be of equivalent value, then it is not deemed theft - rather it is known as a 'Silent Trade'. Furthermore, taking broken items from within the Tribes 'Salvage Area' from another species, is also not deemed theft. The usual crimes such as murder still apply, although cases are rare indeed.

Laws are enforced by the Clan Chief, and the other Chiefs in the Clan, who form a tribunal, and pass judgement on the accused. An arbitrator can be selected, who will speak for the defending party, but this is not the case with the prosecutor, who must prosecute alone, to demonstrate their conviction. Negotiations then take place after the ruling, as to what the guilty, or in the case of false accusation, prosecutor, must pay - both to the other party, and the Courts.

Exile is the usual course for Murderers, and they are stripped of their possessions and set lose in the wastes.

History

Founded centuries, if not several Millennium ago, the B'ay Tribe is an ancient Tribe of Jawa that occupy the desert world of Tatooine. Having boasted clients such as Anaking and Luke Skywalker, and had the misfortune of being nearly wiped out by Stormtroopers several days later, the B'ay Tribe count themselves as some of the most prestigious and indeed respected Jawa on the Planet. Traditionally keeping themselves to themselves, it is only recently, in the past few decades, that the B'ays have begun to interact more with the rest of the Galaxy, though through choice or otherwise this is not yet known.

Now once more out in the open, the B'ay Tribe seek to expand their links and ties within the rest of the Galaxy, primarily to get their grubby little paws on more scrap, but also to secure friendships and alliances with other more powerful groups, who can protect them from the many beings in the Galaxy who would wish to do them harm.

Political Structure

One of the most important tools in the Jawa Political Structure are its Swap Meets. Swap Meets are an ancient, and important tradition in Jawa Society, and in the B'ay Tribe it is no different. Occurring monthly, the members of the tribe meet at an ancient location on Tatooine, their Sand-crawlers lining up on the Deserts and Dunes, welcoming tribes and others from all over the system. Doors open, the Jawa tribes engage in days and days of trading, forming marriages between tribes and trading scrap and stories, before the meet itself takes place. Forming up in a large circle at the heart of the makeshift camp, all the Jawa present listen as each leader of each Sand-crawler updates the assembled on their travels, before each Chief of each Tribe does the same, finally yielding to each the Shamans.

Once the introductions are made, any and all issues and grievances, such as trade and salvage rites, may be brought before the gathered Jawas, by anyone present regardless of rank. In this way, the Jawa can discuss and decide on how to act, the Chieftans and Shamans voting on the issues at hand before breaking from the meet, to return to a final day of trade before a day of celebration. The Swap Meets are great ways to meet fellow Jawas, and are the primary manner in which the course of the Tribes is decided.

Tribes themselves are run in usual tribal ways, with the Shaman heading up the Tribe itself. They in-turn are advised by the Clan Chief, and the leaders of the Sand-Crawlers (known as Chiefs), as well as a few Elders. Whilst the Tribe consults its members on what course of action to take, most decisions are rather easily made, and based on common sense solutions, on what is best for the tribe as a whole.

The Tribe

B'ay Tribe (Tatooine) - One of the oldest tribes on Tatooine, and in possession of one of their original Sandcrawlers, the tribe numbers at approximately 150 Jawas. Their Clan Chief R'kik B'ay is a Jawa who favors remaining on Tatooine, seeing it as the home-world of his people. The Tribe lives near the Anchorhead settlement, and possesses a single fortress nearby.
General Equipment

The Jawas use a wide array of low standard equipment when out on their daily trips, ranging from restraining bolts to the usual tools used by Engineers. Armament wise the Jawas equip themselves with Ion Blasters, and vibro-spears for wearing off small to medium sized creatures who would seek to obstruct their missions.

Friends of the Tribe

One does not need to be a member of the Jawa species to be a member of the tribe, and certain people who get on well with the tribe or have earned the respect may be invited into it. Currently Kelly Axelson and Telv Varno are considered to be a friend of the tribe, as is Arrika-Mar. (Please comment below or get in touch if you would like your character to be a friend!)

Faction Relations

Being in such a large and diverse Galaxy naturally means that any group of individuals must interact with others out there in the stars. As such, the Jawa Tribe decides its stance on new emerging, and existing factions, at their swap-meets, updating the guidelines to their members based on the outcome of these meets. With the concept of warfare being something that the Jawa People strive to stay away from, they categorize relationships with others in different ways, which are as follows.

Friends: Trusted by the Jawa People, and thus afforded the status of 'Friend', those who fall into this category are directly assisted by the people of the tribes, often gaining discounts, and in some cases, free favors. The Jawa treat their friends well, and would shelter them from those seeking to do them harm if needed. Only the Jedi Order currently fits into this category.

Good Trade Partners: On good terms with the Jawa people, the Jawa openly trade with these people, given them fair prices and decent treatment. If they have the credits, and show no violence or ill-will toward the Jawa, then this status continues. The Rebellion, Hutt Cartel, Waste Rangers, Underground and Confederacy are considered to be in this Category.

Scrap Buyers: What others would describe as Neutral, to fall into this faction is to be avoided by the Clans. In this case, the Jawa will try to keep contact with the concerned group to a minimum, and if any contact does happen, they shall try and get the business at hand over as soon as they can. Only the Sith Empire occupies this category.

Poodoo: The Lowest Category, in which the Jawa will deliberately sell faulty items to the concerned group, sabotage their efforts and sell prime stock to their enemies. Nobody current is in this group.

Please feel free to express your interest here, or indeed to post your questions about how to get involved, the future plans for the faction, or what sort of RP we intend to be doing, and the factions 'team' will endevour to get back to you after we have thought out your question in PM's :)

I have a Tatooine native who adores Jawas, and speaks Trade Language. She can probably help out somehow, if you'd like.

Added!
Just so you know, once/if this faction is approved, I have more detailed write-ups of the three clans (their history and notable members) in the works :) If anyone would like to help with that, please do let me know.

You can't have two indie factions.

I don' think I do. The Canted Circle was archived I believe due to inactivity (we got like one post out of members before they vanished!)

EDIT: Turns out is has not been archived! It has no members anymore, and only ever did one thread - I asked for it to be archived a while ago, but that was around the same time as the switch over (so it most likely was missed in the clamor!)

I'll save the admins the trouble and post my thoughts and recommendations.

In terms of limitations and numbers, everything is in order.

Your intent is kinda murky, but these guys don't read like the next Sith Imperium and the whole thing is actually a really good way to explore nomadic existence and the interactions with the rest of the galaxy that brings.

Having the different tribes located on different worlds is a bit of a grey area. Generally indie factions that are new are limited to a single location and cannot own a world. That said, you obviously don't own a world and the way they're dispersed across the galaxy really enhances the nomadic and sort of ubiquitous junk collector style of life that jawas are so famous for. They're everywhere where they can sell and trade what they find.

Jawa freighter fleet is highly amusing.

If I were still an admin I would approve this with a condition that the three different tribes be treated as a whole when it comes to expansion requests and activity within each tribe would be a bonus too.

Thank you for the feedback Lucid.

With regards to ''If I were still an admin I would approve this with a condition that the three different tribes be treated as a whole when it comes to expansion requests and activity within each tribe would be a bonus too.''

I would like to make it clear that I agree with this, and if the faction is approved and activity clearly leans towards one of the three tribes, then the focus for expansion will be on that tribe - and the other tribes would most likely face closure if nobody was playing them :)

With such a time period having passed now, am I to assume that this faction will not be getting approved?

I see little justification for a union of several Jawa tribes. Maybe if more members were joining (and that would be by folds, not members), then I could see it more reasonably. But with only three members, one of which hasn't been on for two weeks, I do not see a reason. I will accept a single Jawa Tribe. There is not enough people interested to warrant the creation of a Jawa financial empire.

I will make the appropriate edits to lower this to one tribe in light of your comments, then tag you here after those edits are made. :)
