A Time of Celebration!

Across the galaxy, households, clans, villages, and cities prepare to celebrate times of peace and victory: Boonta's Eve and Life Day!

Boonta's Eve, a renowned holiday established by the Hutts millennia ago, is a great holiday dedicated to the many victories of the ancient Hutt empires over their many foes. Different planets celebrate it in different ways, but all of these celebrations tend to be rowdy and filled with debauchery. Swoop and pod racing tournaments are held, tributes are laid out for Hutt masters or revered leaders, carousing is at an all-time high, and spirits are all-around raised among the denizens of Hutt space and the hundreds, if not thousands, of worlds its spread to over the years.

Shenanigans are encouraged in keeping with local traditions, and this is commonly a time for even the lowliest slave or serf to be allowed to dine at grand feasts and participate in raucous celebration. Though the Hutts and the people of their worlds see this as a time to celebrate their fierce independence from all rule but that of the Hutts, the rest of those who celebrate mostly just use this time to drink and make merry with friends and family.

Life Day, on the other hand, is a holiday that originated with and is celebrated by Wookiees on Kashyyyk. The earliest known celebration of Life Day took place c. 1,500,000 BBY. Since then, it has become a renowned holiday all across the galaxy. Life Day is a sacred day to Wookiees, in which they celebrate the diverse ecosystems of Kashyyyk, mourn those who have died, and celebrate the lives of the young ones in their families. Tree-drum music is popular on Kashyyyk during the festivities.

Wookiees consider it their duty to return to Kashyyyk on Life Day. Once home, they chew the root of the orga plant and journey to the Life Tree, where it was believed their civilization began many millennia ago. They also reinforced any life debts they had to their so-called “honor families” during the holiday. Those who celebrate the holiday often decorate wroshyr trees as a symbol of the day. Life Day was most important when Wookiees were in mass enslavement across the galaxy, as it was a means of connecting to their history even when forced to be away from home.

Beings all across the galaxy prepare to celebrate these two significant holidays in their own unique ways, but this year, there is something... more to the festivities than usual.

The Setting
As the holidays Life Day and Boonta’s Eve approach, there have been rumors circulating around across the galaxy that there is a large trove of treasure.

If one is to believe the rumors, it would be an explorer’s and treasure hunter’s dream. Some say that the treasure contains rare artifacts, either Force related or otherwise, maybe a map to a lost location? Some say the treasure is a vault of ancient and lost technology, while others strongly believe that it will be a vast fortune enough to make one rich many times over.

In truth no one is certain, there could be anything.

Even now, treasure hunters, opportunists, and anyone who is brave enough are setting their sights on this treasure, following any clues they might find along the way. Now the question is, who will obtain it and what will the treasure be?

The Event

With the holidays approaching, welcome to the next event for SWRP.

While Life Day (for the Core Worlds through the Mid Rim) and Boonta’s Eve (for the rest of the galaxy for the most part) are being celebrated, this event will deal with finding the treasure trove that was described above:

For how this event will work:

  • Starting on 12/5/2020 and ending on 1/9/2021, writers will make a thread in the Story section that has the ‘Event’ prefix tag on it. The writers involved will write about finding the treasure trove, following where their imagination and creativity takes them.
  • This is a ‘make your own adventure’ type thing. Feel free to use all your creativity and imagination (within reason) when threading to find this treasure. As this is a ‘make your own adventure’ event, feel free to add some challenges, such as making the thread OPEN, utilizing dice, asking another writer to be DM .etc) but this is not required.
  • Each thread may have up to four participants together on the adventure.
  • Only one character per writer is eligible for prize.
  • Once your thread is completed, submit in this separate submission thread found here.
  • After the end of the event, staff will read the threads and staff will reward the submitted threads based on story and creativity as well as the characters involved
  • And the most important rule of all, have fun!
