Description
A descendant of the venerable EF76 Nebulon-B, the Nebulon-V is the newest addition to the Escort Frigate Line by Kuat Drive Yards. It features extremely heavy armor plating, which has been raised up off the hull, creating a buffer zone and allowing the armor to cool more quickly when it is under sustained turbolaser fire. These gaps between the armor plating and hull also provide additional storage space. Cargo containers can be mag-locked along the hull, concealed and protected by the armor plating.

It is also heavily armed, and with its robust engines making it highly maneuverable and quick to accelerate it is ideal for anti-starfighter operations or escort duty. Unfortunately, the heavy armor and extensive armaments limit hangar capacity substantially. External docking berths have somewhat offset this drawback, but it is certainly no replacement for a dedicated carrier. With some weapon systems removed completely, the vessel is easily outfitted for a myriad of other roles, including a hospital ship or an armed personnel transport.

The Corusca itself is a late model, having come out of KDY shortly before the product line was discontinued, and incorporates several MandalMotors design improvements. The traditional prow or dorsal mounted bridge is replaced with an internal Combat Information Center (CIC), designed for maximum efficiency and survivability. Additionally, the Corusca has been equipped with a Gravitic Anomaly Sensor, buffering it against damage normally associated with sudden reversion to real space and software patches have prepared it for potential HIMS system install- though the actual hardware installation on a low priority picket ship was deemed far too costly by Imperial budget reviewers. Finally, the already robust defenses of the Nebulon-V line has been enhanced with an additional backup power generator, and all important systems software have been copied to a back up server to speed an emergency reboot.

Service records indicate that the Corusca was originally sold to the Imperial Navy for the patrol of border territories, but that a series of accidents and unfavorable encounters with pirates prompted Imperial Insurance adjustors to declare the ship totaled and sell it for scrap. The ship was sold at auction to the Cyrillian Defense Fleet, under control of the local systems government. After unremarkable service with the CDF, the ship was once again auctioned, this time to a now defunct mercenary group that declared bankruptcy shortly after the acquisition. Records are lost at this point until the ship surfaced again nearly two years later in the hands of Bacta pirates, when it was captured by sympathetic Mon Calamari Patrol and donated to the Rebellion in need of serious repair.

Interested in joining the crew of The Corusca? It's easy! Just post a short introduction, tell us what you characters skills are, what position you'd like, and why he/she/it wants to join us. Corusca crewman are not restricted to working ONLY on Corusca projects, and being a crewman is not required to go on an adventure with us either. If you're interested in having help from the Corusca and her crew on your own adventure, just ask here or shoot me a message! May the Force be with you.

More on the Subject of joining the crew:
I've gotten more than a few requests to join the crew over the last few days, and I'm definitely open to participation. That said, I won't be adding anyone to our roster until they become an active participant, since several of our original members who expressed interest in joining (who I added to the roster) have since disappeared without taking part in any of our efforts. I'd also like to get more group discussion going here in the OOC, since I sometimes lose track of my PM/VMs (unless it is a private question, and then by all means). Bottom line, make yourself an active participant.

Depending on how fast you'd like it accomplished, I could do it.

I'll be busy in the next few days, possible week [maybe even two] with getting the new Cartel stuff up-and-running. I'll try on my spare time though and PM you it.

That would be great! I'm in the same situation with RL stuff this week, so I'm not in a huge hurry.

Just FYI guys, I got the intro thread for the Rebel leadership up this morning after getting an official green light from Cortan. We are the proud owners of an EF89 Nebulon-V with 'minor' hull damage.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to try to get an intro thread for the crew at large going- harsh realities, powerful speeches, "Help me obi-wan Kenobi, you're my only hope", and all that jazz. Participation will not be mandatory, but encouraged whether you really interact with each other at this point or not. At that point we can start expanding into other RP's on a smaller scale to flesh things out.

I had an idea, but I wanted to run it by you guys first. I'd had a mind to tag all Corusca related threads as [OPEN], with a disclaimer to come here and talk to us before jumping in. As has been discussed a lot recently, people often see [ASK] as if it really meant [CLOSED]. Tagging our threads as [OPEN], even though they are actually a more genuine [ASK] may encourage participation from all fronts. I'd also like to make a special tag or pre-fix for all threads involving or taking place on the ship, so that we can compile them in the OP for future reading. Thoughts?

Good with me. Just to clarify what I'm helping with, it's coding and write-up. If you have anything in particular you'd like to add to it, let me know!

Alright, I've got our starter thread up. I'm running it concurrently with the leaderships thread, so take your time- I haven't quiet worked out all of our specifics yet.

As a reminder, I probably won't be able to post this weekend between Thursday night and Sunday night, but I'll do what I can before that hits.

First Impressions [COR]

The Tech profile you linked me to looks sexy, and I definitely like the thumbnail bio for the crew members, though with this many of us we might shorten down the descriptions some to save time and space. Take all the time you need!

I was just thinking it would be nice to have some personalized shots of the ship, or some interior stuff for various threads. Nothing in particular yet.

This.

It's been a little while since I talked to him. He was hoping to return at some point, but he said it would probably be a long while yet.

Fun fact, Vencu was widely considered to be a douche when he first joined, trying to become Mandalore almost immediately.

Corden was one of those few people who could convincingly play a character who was a total opposite of how he was personally. Corden the person was a super nice dude, always willing to make a compromise- Corden the character could come across as a huge douche, but I think that was mainly because he played the character true. He was a Mandalorian who lived by all six tenants, all the time- it wasn't his fault that not all of the Mando'ade at the time did the same.

Say what you will about us imploding our own faction, but there was some excellent, excellent writing buried in all of that.

*le sigh. The good old days... you know, back when we were constantly trying to murder each other :scared:

Man that's crazy. I hope to see him around again sooner rather than later. Vencu was one of my favorite people from the old days.

Remember that one time when I gave in to Blue's idea, so Roxton Dagger, Dani and Blue's mando literally had Vencu by the throat, ready to kill him? Ahhh, that was fun.

And then, long story short, Dani got shot in the face and died? Yeah, I remember that xD
