The Brigands
.
The Brigands are a squad formed very recently in the Rebel Alliance, and has not yet made a consequential name for themselves. The squad is made up of any recruits the Rebel Alliance can scrap in the territory which the Rebels 'hold', and can be of any race. These men are then given the standard issue training, to set explosives for example, and live fire training, to make sure they are actually able to kill the enemy instead of accidentally shooting themselves in the head. Whilst not necessarily the finest men the Rebels can get, when training is completed, they are still damn fine men, which any cell would be proud to have. Not that they will have much choice with the lack of manpower the Rebels have anyways, but still.
Brigands are a flexible unit, able to conduct many different types of operations. For example, they could be asked to sneak into Imperial territory and assassinate a high ranking officer, or they could be asked to be on the frontlines and be the first over the top in a Rebel attack, or they could be deployed to sabotage a heavy weapons factory. Their roles in campaigns could range significantly, but whatever they do, the men try to complete the mission as quickly and as effectively as possible, no matter the circumstances.
The Brigands is usually very accepting for who they accept. With manpower shortages a common occurrence compared to the Imperials, who effectively have a galaxy at their disposal, any recruits are better then none. There are usual loyalty tests to make sure they're not Imperial spies, and the training which every Rebel soldier usually get, but mainly its on the job experience which pulls them through.
Brigands do not really have a philosophy to talk about. They are far too busy really to have one, as they are usually out and about on missions, rather than stuck in barracks. If they were to have one, it would be a very simple one of exterminating the Imps, win freedom to the galaxy and all the rest of the Rebel rhetoric.
History
Brigands are a new addition at the Rebel's disposal, and have no real history to speak about. (This will be filled up as missions are completed)
Structure
Captain: The man/woman in charge of the squad, they are most likely the most veteran soldier in the squad. Promoted by higher-ups, he is responsible for organising how an operation is going to proceed, and delegating tasks. A man to be respected, he does not always decide to ascend to higher levels. Sometimes for fear of bureaucracy, other times because they want to continue getting stuck in there!
Soldier: The men and women who fill up the rest of the squad, they are equipped with standard Rebel equipment and weaponry. They are trained in the same way as the other Rebel soldiers, so there is nothing too special about them, to the normal eye. However, the differing personalities of the solders are what defines this squad from the rest.
