The Sith Empire had returned in force since the Eternal's announcement. It wasn't clear where the sizable forces had come from, but the galaxy was filled with a nearly countless number of sentient creatures, and many of them lacked any sort of moral compass. Or perhaps they simply bought fully into the return of an Empire. Propaganda was a more potent tool than most soldiers gave it credit for and Talak knew personally how easy it could be to be led astray.

Whatever the means of explosive growth, no one could deny the threat on the horizon. From the surface of Ryloth, the presence of warships cast terrifying shadows down on the sandy surface. The slaps of missed turbolaser rounds churned up the ground and sent fountains of sand flying into the air. The battle had already been raging for the better part of an hour with smaller warships having already smashed precariously into the surface of the planet. The battle continued on the ground as soldiers and marines poured from their downed vessels and began to return fire on one another, demonstrating a shocking amount of determination.

Frigates and corvettes stretched from the atmosphere through to the edge of space with fighters of both the Ryloth Defense Force and the Empire exchanging blows. Although the Twi'leks and their allies had the greater number of ships, numbers weren't always everything. The old, repurposed Imperial II-class Star Destroyer was not something to be lightly dismissed. Although the ship looked to be in poor shape with many of its guns offline and segments of armor missing, it was still a force to be reckoned with and the obvious flag ship of this assault. Although most species weren't long enough lived to have seen these wedge-shaped terrors in their prime, everyone knew the stories and the intimidation factor was only slightly diminished.

Nevertheless, the militia of Ryloth was more fearsome than most gave them credit for. They fought for their homes with tooth and nail if necessary, and while their own technology may not have been cutting edge, it was reliable and faithful. Fighters, corvettes, frigates, and small battle cruisers bolstered by the forces of mercenaries had taken to the skies in defense of the planet, unleashing a surprising amount of fire against the Imperial forces.

And the Twi'leks were not alone. Allied worlds had made the decision to send forces in defense of their neighbor against the growing threat. They recognized that to ignore this threat until it knocked at their own doors was to court death and subjugation. Among those who had readily volunteered to join the fight in defense of Ryloth was Talak Rand, the Jedi who not so long ago would have been fighting on the other side of this battle. Had he the time, he might have found himself once more reflecting on how his life had changed, but he was far too distracted for that now. Every thought was pushed out of his mind whenever the ship shook under the blast of another laser cannon round against the shields. He hated this part of battles. There was nothing he could do to protect himself, and it seemed to stretch on for an eternity. For all his combat experience, open warfare was not something he was used to, and now that he was here, he wasn't sure he would ever get used to it.

The Gladiator-class star cruiser had dropped out of hyperspace and immediately entered the fray of the battle, trading fire with the mile long behemoth ahead. Although outgunned and dwarfed in size, its Captain - a fiery-spirited woman who commanded the utmost respect from her soldiers - was quite determined to bring the fight to the enemy.

Fighters and dropships launched from the cruiser's hangar and streaked across the debris-filled space toward the destroyer. The ship shook once again, jolting Talak against his restraints as it carved its way toward the side of the flag ship. The dropship made its approach at what Talak deemed to be an alarming speed, but the pilot didn't even flinch. He admired the man's steely gaze as he watched the approaching warship, slamming a pair of levers into place with masterful timing. The ship slowed far more quickly than Talak would have liked as both a counter-thruster and a repulsor burst fired almost simultaneously, slowing the ship before it could slam into the side of the enemy vessel. The front end quickly made a seal with the hull and went to work.

Thirty seconds! Force be with you! the pilot shouted to the boarding crew as massive plasma torches carved through the hull of the destroyer. True to his prediction, a chunk of metal fell away 30 seconds later, and the boarding crew had their opening. Talak was out of his restraints well before that, deciding he'd rather be on a ship full of thousands of enemies than have to spend one more second inside this suicide craft. He didn't know how these marines did this on a regular basis.

His lightsaber activated a glowing white as he dropped the five feet from the hatch to the deck below, meeting almost immediately with blaster fire from crewmen who looked far from comfortable in a gunfight. Marines poured through the hole behind him, and Talak knew that other boarding ships would be doing the same all over the ship. The push was afoot, but Talak had confidence at the boarding team behind him. No pressure.

Forsaking his typical robes, in an open battle and on a ship where the threat of space or atsmospheric loss was real, he had donned a modified flight suit that was much like what he had used on hostile planets in the past. In this case, it was fully enclosed with sealed gloves, sealed helmet, and a bit of added armor to acomodate the dangers. It was something he was comfortable in and served his purposes well in conjunction with his regular equipment.

Talak wasn't the only making a dynamic entry. Since his abandonment of the Sith, he'd made a friend fighting Sol Puara and in the aftermath. Hannibal had joined him on the boarding craft, meditating in his restraints during the approach and steeling his focus for the fight ahead. The young Jedi had only been on a single battlefield prior to this, and even then only as a small skirmishing force to harass a mercenary company. This was real warfare. At least he was boarding a ship this time instead of marching through fields of fire. Hannibal specialized as a duelist, not a military commander.

For the occasion he wore his light armour, though a pilot-specific variant that swapped out the vision modes, computer spike, and voice scrambler for a full rebreather, vac-seal, and and life support trio. His utility belt (and standard stuff that foes with it) had clipped to it a pair of lightsabers, one formerly belonging to Sol Puara and a second an old imperial era hilt. Clipped near the back on the right side was his cross-guard shoto, while two blasters sat on attached holsters. Spare power packs rested in a belt pouch, two for each weapon, while a pair of concussion grenades sat clipped adjacent. Hannibal was pretty sure Talak would have a comment at some point about his varied armament but Hannibal liked to be prepared. Besides, no one expected a Jedi to use stun grenades of all things and they didn't require the Force.

As the boarding vessel jerked to a stop against the hull of the Sith flagship Hannibal unclipped himself from his restraints and double checked the seals of his helmet along with his comm frequency settings. All good, equipment had been checked a half dozen times before then. He'd prepared himself for the fight ahead, his presence in the Force an icy wall of sheer determination. Hannibal didn't particularly like to fight over the alternatives, but he would also be the first one to advocate Jedi were warriors as well as peace keepers. He would fight his hardest in the defense of others, and now the Sith had an army attacking Ryloth and a trusted friend by his side. Speaking of which...

Fight begins now! Talak rushed out and Hannibal followed right behind and to his left, the brilliant silver blade of Sol Puara's lightsaber flashing out in his left hand to deflect incoming fire back in the general direction of their origin. He settled into a two-handed left facing stance close to his body and slowly advanced while returning or deflecting enemy blaster fire, serving as both a bulwark and a distraction for the marines behind him and Talak to his right. Normally he would also add his own blaster fire to the mix, but against a sheer volume of fire from weapons not set to stun a two handed grip provided superior control and stability.

Hannibal knew it wasn't unlikely that marines would take over the course of their boarding action, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to fight to the death for every last one that fell. If the Sith were going to attack, just like at the prison, Hannibal intended to make the attempt as painful as possible for them. Last time their attack had cost them a Champion. As far as the Jedi Master was concerned the price for this attack on Ryloth was a whole Star Destroyer.

Lorcan had to admit that he was glad to have gotten off of Coruscant not only because he was looking forward to a change of scenery but because he wanted to fight. It had taken him some time before he realized that he could take the time, and the credits, to try and repair his psyche… but was that really the best option right now? Oh sure it was the best option for him and it would ensure he was whole and human for longer.

But the Galaxy was at war and he was a man built for war, for the thrill of battle and the desire to see things brought to their local conclusion; which he saw as the death of the renewed Empire.

So he had signed up as a volunteer.

His hands gripped the controls of his gunboat tightly as he emerged from hyperspace, directly into the battle. Having travelled alongside the main intervention force, he pushed the craft into covering the marine insertion vehicles. A crew of three other volunteers he didn’t know ran around his ship, manning the stations that he could not.

The turret barked and burst with it’s covering fire.

“Marine elements, this is Escort One – make sure you kark their shite up for me.”

He continued to guard the marine insertion ships from enemy fighters, drawing fire from them by virtue of being more dangerous. Reaching up with one hand, he flicked the com channel to other spaceships.

“Escort One here, payload secured and delivered. Wings form up on me and we’ll begin the engine attack run.”

Best way to make sure you got to kill the enemy was to cut their legs out from under them – the engines in this case. Said engines were bigger than his ship, truth be told, but he shouldn’t be attacking alone.

"Wait a second-" Preef turned to face the human Major commanding the anti-boarding troops, "-they pay you how much!?"

The rodian gunslinger, dressed in a makeshift Imperial uniform with sergeant-major stripes, demonstratively passed the blaster rifle on to the next grunt. "I thought I outranked you!?" Alright, so once again they had taken advantage of Preef's below average intellect to get his above average skill with a blaster. He could already see Marissa shaking her head in disappointment.

He didn't have a lot of time to try and convince the Major to give him all surplus pay as compensation as suddenly a large chunk of metal disappeared from the hull and enemy marines (@Phoenix) poured in. "Kriff!" Prief shrieked and quickly drew his blaster to fire straight into the gut of the marine right next to a lightsaber-wielding man. A LIGHTSABER!? "See that!? I thought only you guys had those things!?" He had barely said it when the trooper he directed it at caught a blaster bolt in the face, forcing the rodian to duck and dash for cover.

From the corner of his eye he saw the intercom and for a moment he considered shouting the presence of a Jedi to the entire ship, but something withheld him.. bag himself a Jedi and his Outer Rim legend would be assured.

Jerex had to admit he was a bit too nervous at the moment, not nervous because he didn't think he was someone that should be part of those large scale conflicts, but because he was just far too excited, what if he got carried away? He barely contained himself during the assault on the prison of Coruscant, not overextending just because his superiors told him so. He had to focus during this battle, the star destroyer he was currently on was a very valuable asset that would make the conquest of Ryloth much easier. Focusing, however, didn't mean he wasn't going to have fun, of course, he intended to enjoy every single second of the battle.

Bringing with him his lightsaber and wearing his usual battle robes and his trust Mask of Ren, the old legionnaire didn't really need anything else but the force in the battle coming ahead. Following the sound of blaster bolts and screams of pain, it didn't take long to reach the place where the cruiser was being boarded. Jerex just advanced with only one task in mind: taking care of the boarding crew as soon as he could before it became a real problem.

The knight of Ren reflected stray blaster bolts and got closer to those that spearheaded the assault, not taking much effort while doing so as he was obviously not the only one confronting the arming crew at the moment. However, after getting closer to the boarding ship, he came across the five syndicates thug (@Ecclessey ) and the two jedi (@Phoenix and @Mr. Teatime), a grim grin curling behind his mask "Jeeeeeedi!" Jerex said with a tone of pure glee that not even the voice modulator from his mask could disguise "Let's have some fun!" Two hands on his lightsaber and partially behind cover (Since lightsaber fighting wasn't really his speciality) Jerex Dorn was ready to party and hopefully have as much fun as he had during the prison assault.

She’d been in a neighbouring system when the call had gone out, returning from her own expedition in the Outer Rim; ‘support for Ryloth’, ‘all able and willing hands!’ announcements blaring through the net in the systems nearby.

It filled her with a certain hope then, when she’s seen the numbers flock in, those people lining up to fight the enemy of all. Perhaps not everyone has recognised it yet, but that there was a solidarity of any out there, well, it kept a smile on her face in the hyperspace shot over to Ryloth’s skies.

A smile quickly removed then when she saw the silhouette of an ancient Imperial Star Destroyer on the horizon.

Still, the readiness with which every individual on the arriving ships seemed to have to give their all to halt such an advance before it took hold, it put her right on a boarding vessel with a host of fighters, outfitted in varying arms and armour, bound by just cause.

Blasters has opened fire across the stars but, unlike some of her Jedi comrades, She would not be joining them aboard.

A missile, the rocking of an explosion beyond their walls, the whir of the alarm as the transport suddenly rattled into a descent, the pilot just barely keeping the thing stable as they plummeted down. With one engine down it would be a bumpy landing, but as the thud of the crash shook the cabin, sending some of the fighters flying and smacking into othe cabin, she had to admit it could have been worse. There were casualties, casualties that would have to be grieved later, for they weren’t the only ones.

A hail of shrapnel and wreckage crashed around them outside, and a dozen other vessels their size from both sides of the conflict seemed to meet the same fate they had, survivors clambering out of the wreckage and using their fallen vessels as cover as the ground war began in earnest. What effect they’d have on the battle as a whole, she couldn’t know, but if one thing was for sure, Ilukai wasn’t about to sit idle while the Sith fought against anyone.

Not while she was there to challenge it.

Armoured in her flight suit, she climbed from the transport, coughing smoke and sand from the crash, she drew her lightsaber, a shimmering orange that blended with the sand. Other survivors fell out behind her, blasters in hand.

It was time to link up with the rest of the survivors, and take this fight to the Sith.

"Hold on to your blasters, 20 seconds to deployment!"

Kori checked her gear for the Force-knows-how-many-th time. Fully-sealed flight suit with the helmet and even the life-support box for good measure — check. Heavy non-lethal pistol holstered on the right hip — a memento from Kori's father who worked in law enforcement — check. Some new gear — 3 grenades: smoke, concussion, and frag, along with other equipment on the utility belt — check. Hopefully, Kori wouldn't need to use them. After all... Dual phase split-saber — with hilts currently interlocked as a saber staff for better blaster deflection — check.

"5 seconds to contact. Give them hell!"

The male Twi'lek taking their boarding ship towards the hangar of the enemy Star Destroyer sure was confident and knew his job. Still, it felt weird being in the cramped and crowded passenger compartment, while someone else was piloting the Serendipity. But Kori knew she'd be better off with a lightsaber in her hands. Besides, someone needed to protect the 3 marines: they only had E-11 rifles, some frag grenades, and a demolition charge each against the whole Star Destroyer. But a Jedi or two aboard the ship could turn the tide. And Kori was among those Jedi.

"We're in! Go, go, go!" What happened next was a blur. The ramp lowered. Kori went in first, the azure blades of her saber staff ignited. Stepping on the hangar floor, she flourished her weapon. The job was simple: draw enemy fire, protect yourself, and move slow enough so that your team can keep up. Step one: find some cover inside the hangar. That TIE bomber up ahead would do. The world around Kori ceased to exist. All she had was the lightsaber, the Force, and her destination. Just like in training; except that the blaster bolts were real, and she'd have to move slow enough to let her squad keep up.

They didn't disappoint. Staying behind the azure flurry of Kori's blades, the marines returned fire, forcing the inexperienced technicians in the hangar to take cover and reducing the number of shots the Zeltron had to deflect. Not to mention that the Serendipity's turret wasn't silent either, laying down suppressive fire. Soon Kori and her squad would end up hiding behind the TIE bomber hull. A much needed reprieve, and a chance to take stock of the situation. Step two: take out the hyperdrive to prevent escape and loss of our boarding forces.

If the Zeltron and her team were lucky, Talak and Hannibal had already stolen the show elsewhere aboard the ship. That could make Kori's job easier.

Izel knew what she was committing to when she volunteered for this mission. Even so, the reality was far more terrifying than she could have imagined. The Vratix struggled to breathe as she adjusted the helmet of her custom flight suit. It was rare for her to wear armor like this. Her people were not a warrior race, and usually tried their best to avoid conflict. Despite that, or perhaps because of it, their uniforms had a rather insidious appearance, the twin visors for her large insectoid eyes glowing a bright red against black duraplast. It reminded her of how some animals evolved to have a very intimidating appearance to ward off would-be predators. It certainly had the effect of unsettling the humanoid marines onboard the Serendipity.

Izel tried not to bother them, instead sitting silently in her seat and reciting the Jedi Code repeatedly in her head as she meditated. Relax. Breathe in... Breathe out... You are a Jedi. You can do this. Faintly she could hear the pilot calling out to them, telling them to prepare themselves for the attack. The Vratix steeled herself for battle and took up her pike in her hands. Move fast. Protect your charges. Complete your task. Simple enough. The ramp dropped, and she ignited the emerald blade of her lightsaber.

Kori was the first off the ship, leading the charge into the enemy hangar. Izel was right behind her, adopting the Soresu stance as she pushed forward while deflecting incoming fire. With her and Kori working together they formed a solid frontline defense, leaving their accompanying marine element to fire back at the Sith forces at their leisure. Once they made it to the bomber Izel turned her attention to her fellow Jedi while the marines kept up the fire.

"You lead the way." She shouted to the Zeltron over the roar of battle. "I'll cover our rear. We can't stay in one place too long or they'll organize a counterattack." They had succeeded in gaining a foothold on the ship, but it wouldn't be long before reinforcements made their way to the hangar. They were far too outnumbered to take over the ship. They had to focus on crippling it's vital systems for now.

Theme

The dropship carrying Castus and dozen other soldiers and combat droids had already been on approach to the planet when the Jedi and their defensive force arrived. Had he been aware that the warriors of light would take such a bold tactic the human Sith might have stayed on the destroyer.

Instead he was stacked up in a tight formation inside a ration can posing as a drop ship. He would have rather have made this trip in his tie under his skill and control. That lack of control gave rise to fear. A cold chill up his spine. The shuttering of the ship as it hit heavy anti spacecraft flak did nothing to help that chill.

"30 seconds"

The pilot's voice came over the comlink in the helmet of his Sith robes. Beneath the cloak of which was the rest of his gear. He had no reason to check it, for the utility belt, the blaster pistol and most importantly his lightsaber were all extensions of himself. With him since the days he trained with his former Master. In fact the only addition to his normal gear was several grenades. Two EMP, or "Droid Poppers", and two thermal detonators.

"10..."

The pilot was suddenly cut off, as the entire ship rocked and was suddenly in free fall. The chill in Castus' spine spread, like cancer. He took a breath, slowly exhaled, and fell into the pull of the dark side. The chilling fear, gave way to seething hate, and hate to power. The black hilt of Castus' weapon was suddenly in his left hand and the blood red blade shot forth. The human Sith quickly crosscut the side of the ship with his saber and short his right hand up and forward. Breaching the side of the ship.

Not thinking, purely moving on instinct and hate now. The marauder leapt from the hole in the ship, Just before his crashed to the ground not unlike the Jedi's landing ( @Nightfall ). However unlike his light side counterpart, the Sith did not check his men. He landed on his feet with the aid of the force and an appeared effortlessness. His red blade gathering the attention of near by Twi'lek forces.

Castus batted away blaster fire and even returned several shot back to their rightful owners as he scanned the battlefield. "There", he said behind gritted teeth as he spotted the anti aircraft guns that took down his craft and many others. His first task now selected the Sith began to cut a path to the guns.

Landing Platform 2-A5 in Lessu

Chant Sindhu in her orange flight suit ran across the platform as the battle raged outside the city. Just my luck, finish a delivery and an invasion happens! She thought, with her heart pounding as a dozen local X-Wings flew overhead out to join the battle.

She watched for a moment reminded of her past service as a starfighter pilot. The Mon Calamari’s heart sank, knowing many were going to die today. The freelancer quickened the pace toward her IFST-21 light freighter. “I’m getting outta here.” Muttered Chant before calling Ness, her R-6 unit and best friend.

“Ness open the ramp we’re leaving this rock!”

The droid immediately acknowledged in droidspeak and the ramp came down with a thud. Just as she was about to reach it, a flight of TIE bombers with fighter escort on each flank descended from the sky toward Lessu. Turrets on the wall opened up their salvos. One enemy fighter took a direct hit and exploded and another fell from the sky to crash to the ground upon being hit in the left wing. Yet the rest of the Sith fighters moved on, targeting the defending guns.

Subsequently the bombers dived and dropped their payload onto the spaceport. A great chorus of explosions erupted, shaking the ground. At such violent force from behind Chant cried as she was knocked to the floor. For a moment she blacked out before waking with a sudden gasp. Her head ringing Chant shook all over as she sat letting out a grunt.

Behind her, was a great black cloud of smoke and dozens of fires raged across the port. Dazed, she sat there staring with horror at the carnage. Above Twi’lek fighters arrived to engage the Sith attackers driving them away from Lessu. Immediately the ringing stopped and Ness’ voice was back on the comm, asking if she was alright.

Shaking her head, Chant answered with another pained grunt. “I’m alive old girl. Just tell me our ship is ready.” Given an affirmative answer the Mon Calamari forced herself to stand up. Before she could make another step Chant heard a cry meters away. Alarmed Chant raced over to the side of the platform drawing a SE-45 blaster pistol and looked down.

There was an orange skinned Twi’lek boy no more than six years old weeping on his knees beside his dead mother killed by shrapnel. He tried to shake the corpse, no doubt an attempt to wake her up but she didn’t open her eyes nor stirred. The little boy muttered in Twi’leki begging and sobbing further.

Chant stood there and lowered her head. She didn’t know the kid nor the dead lady personally but the terrible sight cut through the soul. Squeezing her hands, tears streamed down Chant’s face. The sound of the battle miles away made her turn in that direction from behind. She can see the ships both invaders and defenders alike fighting over the sky and the battle on the ground.

They wanted this.

The thought boiled Chant’s blood and her grimace turned into an enraged scowl at what the Sith had done. Without further hesitation Chant fled back toward the ship. Racing up the ramp she pressed onto reaching the cockpit where Ness waited. The droid in binary asked if it was time to leave Ryloth.

“No we’re not Ness.” Sighing, she added. “I can’t believe I’m actually saying this but we are going out there to fight.” The astromech let out a surprised whistle at that statement.

Eyes filled with determination, glaring at the distant battlefield Chant continued.

“To be honest Ness I don’t know if what we do next will make a difference against the Sith or whether we even survive. Still I refuse to keep doing nothing while all this madness continues.”

Ness let out a cheer in droidspeak, ready to follow her partner to the end. Touched Chant sent a message to the Twi’lek authorities, letting them know she was volunteering to fight the invaders. As the ship ascended from the platform and flew toward the ever expanding battlefield Chant couldn’t help but whisper.

“May the force be with us.”

Young Baldr Egilson was beginning to regret not having an iota of piloting experience. At least if he was in a fighter ship he'd be able to dodge attacks himself and not welcome them with open arms like the idiot flying the bulky transport vessel he had unwisely chosen to take him to the surface. He cringed as yet another explosion rocked the ship - he could feel the vibrations through the floor as well as the wall he was pressed against. There were many others packed onto the transport with him, all armed and seemingly capable.

Baldr had no contacts here, however. He'd only been told that the Legion was attacking the Twi'lek planet of Ryloth and that it was his duty to aid in their efforts. It was the first major battle he would ever participate in, and he'd be lying if he didn't admit that he was shaking in his boots a little. He shrugged that feeling off with a grimace of determination. He was a powerful Sith and the dark side of the Force was with him. A few lowly Twi'leks and their silly Jedi friends wouldn't be able to hurt him.

The idiot pilot announced that they'd reached atmosphere at the same time he allowed yet another anti aircraft round to slam into the shields. The young Sith silently asked himself how much longer those shields would hold and he was answered a short time later when the ship rocked again and the blue shimmering light of the shield from the port holes disappeared and another round blasted into the side of the transport vessel. This time it hit metal and the ship's lights flickered as it's descent angled much more sharply towards the ground.

Lucky for the people jammed inside that the ground wasn't much further. The transport hit at an angle and skipped back into the air before crashing and skidding to a stop amid much other wreckage. Baldr was relatively unhurt and hurriedly clicked the release for the five point harness he'd been strapped into while yelling at anyone who was listening, "Get the damn door open, now!"

A man who had also been strapped into a harness along the wall of the transport had freed himself by that time and complied. Baldr pushed through those who hadn't been so lucky and were strewn about on the floor and exited the blasted ship with a sigh of relief. The man who had opened the door as well as a handful of others who were unhurt followed him out the hatch and looked expectantly at him for leadership.

Young Baldr felt absolutely helpless for a moment in front of those stares, until he noticed not too far from them a red bladed saber slicing through blaster bolts with ease. He was equipped more heavily than usual, having known he was bound for a battle. He wore a suit of medium rated armor under his outer robes and carried a long range sniper rifle on his back in addition to the sabers and grenades he commonly wore.

Knowing his direction now, Baldr swung the rifle to bear and shrugged out of his robes - knowing they would only hinder him here. "Cover him!" he cried with confident determination as he crouched to one knee and took aim at a group of Twi'lek forces that were in the direct path of the Sith. Baldr took his shots one at a time, aiming for the kill each time. Blaster fire errupted around him as the others with him did as he said and shot for the same group.

Blossoming clouds of fire and smoke reflected in viewscreen of the Hex. A calm observance came from the cold metallic face of the droid. The photorecptors went from one aspect of the battle in front of him as the ship continued forward. A small holographic display had some contact tags appearing and disappearing as the Droid cycled through targets.

"Here are the targets" The deep robotic vacublator of the BX commando droid said. One the projection there were three targets. The first, a Ryloth aligned ship appropriately named The Forked Tail
circled and tried to trade blows with another ship. Both already show scores from other ship strikes. That other corvette was a Sith Order corvette with the name Resolute Defiance. Last that showed on the hologram was a carrier, Obsidian Shield but it continued to let out fighters.

"Secure yourself if you have not already." He said over the ship's communication to alert all onboard. The blackfin blastboat was flying towards the engagement at its maximum speed. The numerous contacts of starfighters and capital ships could be dazzling for someone not trained, or in this case programmed in space combat. A few sith starfighters began targeting the ship but the droid's vessel turned to face the incoming fighter.

Those who would dare, would have much to gain.
Aboard the blackfin, the good Doctor waited. There was nothing but time, nothing but patience. There were three ships to choose from as she buckled down. "Resolute Defiance is the best for obtaining defensive and offensive firepower. I recommend striking first."

She waited, her hand on one of her blasters. But she trusted in the skill of the droid to get close. She needed to be closer, for their objective to be completed. So many ships, though this battle held no personal stakes for her, she was not going to leave without helping initially. Perhaps allies were meant to be made... they would just have to wait and see.

If they were somehow struck down, that would be the least of her concerns.

Izel had a point. The strike team had to move fast, and get out of the hangar. It was an open space, and no Jedi training would protect them and their troops from getting outflanked and surrounded. The Zeltron looked around; it was unusual to take in the battlefield from the visor of the helmet, but Kori also had the Force at her disposal. She could feel the presence of sentients nearby, and their approximate positions. With any luck, she'd be able to use that skill to lead the marines through the less-crowded areas of the ship towards their destination. A blast door nearby seemed like the best choice. Maybe Izel could slice though with her lightsaber pike...

"Tallis, it's getting hot in here! They're trying to set up E-Webs." The voice of the pilot and the shooting of Serendipity's turret brought Kori back from planning into the real world. So far, the gunship and its weapons provided a perfect distraction. But it couldn't last forever, and the Zeltron knew that cutting through the door could take too long. "The shields won't be able to take much longer." She needed a different plan.

Nykoria cursed to herself, but an idea crossed her mind. "I'll need your demo charge," she addressed the nearest marine, who—luckily—wasn't the one to argue. Once it was removed from the backpack, Nykoria didn't take it though. Instead, the explosive floated in the air towards the blast door. A totally normal and not-so-noticeable sight when you have a hostile patrol ship tearing up the vessels and catwalks inside. "I've got to bail now, before they blow me up!" The Twi'lek shouted, as maneuvering thrusters lifted the Serendipity into the air. "Kriff'em up for me!"

Luckily, the explosives were already in place. "Blast it!" Kori shouted to the marine through all the blaster fire and commotion. The man didn't need to be told twice; a moment later, all the noise in the hangar was eclipsed by the explosion. Kori hadn't expected it to be as loud, so it took her a few moments to recover. But once she did, she knew what she had to do next. "Go! We'll cover you!" Saber staff ignited again, Kori led the way, drawing the fire and deflecting shots as before. Once they'd enter the corridors through the breached door, things would become much easier for the Jedi. No more expecting attacks from any angles, and fewer enemies along the way, hopefully.

Talak put himself intentionally between the enemy and the marines that were disembarking. His blade whipped through the air, falling back on defensive training to keep the blaster fire from finding purchase in the bodies of any marines.

He knew that Hannibal had his back - a welcome feeling in the middle of combat - and would protect the other side of the disembark as the marines began to return fire on the defenders.

Push forward! he ordered, moving forward himself as the marines did the same. He was perfectly happy to engage them at close range, but he could also push onto their position from a purely defensive point as well.

Or Talak could act as a distraction while Hannibal took his forces elsewhere. Divide and conquer was a viable strategy, right? Maybe not when you were this outnumbered, but still.

The smell of burned ozone filled the air as well as burned flesh. He chopped down another blaster bolt and pushed forward toward the Rodian and his troops, watching as one of his own soldiers went down in a heap.

Get him back to the ship! he shouted as one of the men dragged his wounded comrade out of the line of fire.

Lorcan wasn't sure if anyone was following him in terms of allies but it also didn't seem that a lot of enemies were following him or trying to stop him either - he could work with that. He flicked a few switches, re-orientating the shields of the ship to reinforce the left side of the ship and it's nose.

"Good hunting marines."

He pushed the ship forward, darting along the length of the star destroyer at almost top speed. Lorcan didn't push it to it's full speed however, wanting to keep something in reserve in case he needed to accelerate quickly for an attack or defense. Coming around the rear of the star destroyer he began to charge up the weapons.

"Turret keep your head on a swivel for enemies. Torpedoes, launch on my mark."

Activating both the heavy lasers and his ion cannon, he opened fire on one of the engines from the side. They were quite close, in naval terms, and the ion cannon would disrupt the shield in a small, localized, area to allow the lasers and the torpedoes to do more damage.

"Launch!"

The first torpedo launched, hot on the tail of an ion cannon blast at the shields to slam into the weakened shields with the heavy ordinance. From what he could see the engine took some light, superficial, damage before the shield refreshed but it was progress.

"Laying down fire again - four more torpedoes and if we can sneak one in under the shield..."

While Kori worked on getting through the blast doors Izel stood with the other two marines. As they fired on the enemy troops in the hangar, she used the Force to start pulling large supply crates closer to their position. This helped to provide further cover for them as well as hopefully hide where it was they were going. That was the plan anyway, before Kori decided to use one of the explosives they'd brought to blow her way through the barrier.

Izel stumbled and fell to the ground from the unexpected shockwave, scrambling back to her feet and turning towards the point of the explosion. She expected to see more enemy troops flanking them, but instead Kori was leading the way into the corridor. The Vratix sighed as she followed. "When I said move quickly this wasn't exactly what I had in mind..." She muttered, though her voice was lost over the roar of battle.

As planned she brought up the rear, providing cover for the marines as they made their way through the breach before going through herself. Once in the hallway she paused to turn and face the hangar again. Extinguishing her lightsaber she stowed it through her bandoleer before reaching out with both hands and grunting with effort. Slowly the TIE bomber they had been using for cover started to screech across the floor as it was slowly dragged towards her. Then as the Vratix balled her hands into fists and made a jerking motion one of the wings tore off and slammed into the wall, blocking the path back into the hangar. She continued to move her hands, crumpling the edges of the wind so they folded around the breach like paper, sealing them in.

Izel slumped over slightly and let out an exhausted huff before retrieving her pike and igniting it once more. "That ought to slow them down..." She thought aloud before turning to follow Kori and the others. She just hoped they'd be able to find another way off the ship once their mission was complete...

Castus continued to bat away blaster bolts from small arm fire. Augmenting the movement of his saber with the force, allowing him to move, parry, and dodge the onslaught of super heated plasma with preternatural speed. One foolish Twi'lek grunt tossed a grenade in the Sith's direction. The marauder spiked the orb back down, like a galactic valley back. Slamming back at the soldiers feet before exploding. Killing the green skinned fool and injuring several others.

Using the opening in the fire fight, the human sith ran forward ten meters. Covered by the support of Baldr's men. Now in the foxhole of the dead and wounded. He stabbed and slashed on those still moving, then quickly pulled two frag grenades from one of the pouches of the dead. Armed them, and tossed them into another nearby foxhole. Killing or maiming.

Though he could see the glow of the orange in the distance, and feel the presences of the light from it's direction. The Jedi was 75 or more meters away off his left. Where as the AA guns were a mere 40 meters dead ahead. Castus decided he would continue on his path of carnage and let the Jedi come to him, if they so desired.

Midway through his half of the team's advance, a particularly Dark presence caught his attention. It practically announced itself and Hannibal's intuition drew his eyes to the source. It was obviously a Sith, considering the extra-creepy mask. They always went for creepy. The man was yelling something or other, but Hannibal couldn't hear him all that well. His helmet was playing some very bassy music that only got muted down when someone on a comm line spoke, like Talak or the marines. Hannibal would bet so much money it was something edgy, though, the weirdo. And, yup, there was the red lightsaber. Definitely Sith or Sith-adjacent. 'Course they were on a Sith ship, so it was to be expected, but where did they keep getting all these freaks from? No wonder Talak left, or he'd have ended up some kind of clown-themed human disaster.

"Sith sighted on my side. Gonna say hello," he spoke into his helmet comm, mostly directed at Talak. An impish grin formed beneath his helmet and he took his right hand off his lightsaber and rose it up to the side of his helmet, as if trying to get a good listen to something far away, though he was also switching off the music.

"What was that!? You're surrendering!? I can't hear you from over there, but I'll be right over!" he shouted in the Sith's direction with a sharply mocking tone, redirecting a blaster bolt fired toward a marine behind him over in the Sith's general direction. He'd the team beforehand that he'd break off to engage Sith, but they'd had the time to move to better cover with the Jedi Master serving as an opening defender. With the Sith not actually defending the gunners on his side the marines had been able to move up relatively safely, although some Rodian on Talak's side seemed to have made a crack shot into one of his marines. Hannibal trusted the other Jedi would handle that.

If Hannibal could occupy the Sith he figured the marines would naturally blast their way through the poorly prepared crewmen defending this section and move on. So with that in mind, after his deflected shot he drew his RSKF blaster pistol and began his approach, Sol Puara's lightsaber held up before him in his left-face stance like a shining silver shield. The Light Side rushed into and through him, ready to act on his behalf. He fired a single stun shot toward the Sith's head to follow the deflected shot from a moment before, more suppressing fire than anything, but all the better if it hit him in his stupid masked face.

"You an unrepentant coward like most Sith, or are you just hiding 'cause you know the Dark side is hot garbage and you're gonna get your ass kicked?" he taunted sardonically in reference to the Sith's usage of cover. Hannibal was trying his usual tactics to distract and draw out an opponent. Internally he was as calm and focused as ever, but he was known for his sharp tongue and liberal usage of Dun Moch against people he dueled and he certainly wasn't going to spare this horror-flick reject the standard treatment.

He was also keeping his senses open in case someone on Talak's side for some reason decided to try firing through toward his side. One never knows what crazy stuff people would try.

the sound of the battle was almost overwhelming, that’s what she found first of all amidst the din. She was glad she for her Jedi training, to keep her mind even half focused, tuning out the unnecessary. Watching the relief forces around her forming up into firing lines and sending bolt after bolt across the way amazed her, that they so thoroughly got on and did what they had to do.

While she’d made some headway in regrouping the fighters that had landed alongside, they were firing off at the Sith landers only in a semi-coordinated way.

Blaster bolts crackled off her lightsaber as she swatted them back toward the Sith troopers, she saw squads heading off away from them, red lightsaber leading the charge. That was the Sith. The real Sith, not just followers. And they were moving toward the anti-air cannons. The objective above in the star destroyer needed those online to make sure reinforcements could arrive,

“Captain!” Ilukai called out to the officer still surviving “the guns, they’re going after the guns” she gestured with her lightsaber toward the units heading away, her voice sounded haggard, desperate. That had to be where they focused their efforts.

The captain agreed.

Barking out commands, new men formed up to keep the line, offering suppressing fire on the troops still landing, while the captain gathered men with him and Ilukai, and set off to the guns. To close the gap they darted between downed ships as cover, Ilukai batting back bolts and returning explosives with the force to keep the fire off the troops. But catching the Sith drop away into the trenches, she searched around desperately. As the soldiers with her began shooting the troops moving on the guns to slow them, she pressed ahead, closing the gap to the Sith, keeping her blade up and her head on a swivel to make sure she wasn’t taken by surprise.
