Historical Information: Located at the iconic coordinates (0,0,0), Coruscant is the political, social, economic, and militant capital of the Republic and the galaxy at large. Home to over 1,000,000,000,000 permanent residents and countless additional travelers from every corner of the known universe, it is very commonly said “he who owns Coruscant owns the galaxy”. For too long the Republic has ruled the galaxy- it is time for the Empire to take what is theirs.

Situation: Realizing the war he had committed his Empire to could drag on for decades (and nowhere near ready to wait so long for his prize), Emperor Tusa Ujalli Hai captured Yag’Dhul late in the First Hutt War. While tactically important in the scheme of hyperspace routes, the devious Hutt had another plan- using the natural mathematic inclination of the Givin, he would develop an extragalactic hyperspace route out of the galactic disk near Yag’Dhul and emerge back into the galactic disk in the deep core. From there, his armies would navigate in a surprise raid on the capital. The effort took five years and billions of credits, resulting in a short-lived route that would soon be eliminated by a black hole. The Emperor had to move fast- all of his best fleets began pooling around Yag’Dhul. Soon, the Emperor could claim his throne.

Thunder - Full : Full
Mission Objectives: Eliminate all Republic Naval forces in the Northern Hemisphere.
Expectations: Major Republic resistance expected. Take no prisoners.
Assigned PCs: Tusa Ujalli Hai (Santoro), Grand Admiral Orion Vorsch (Falcon), Line Captain Krya Strax (Natise), Line Captain Andoba the Hutt (Darth Malon)
Defender PCs: Katalina Tajikoma (CARD), Kieth Raven (Ru), Jack Cavi (Count Sam), Bianca Lockhart (Weiss)

Note: Please allow the Hutts to enter fully before responding. Afterwards, we'll establish a posting order. This is an attempt at NO BITCHING- we'll have OOC threads for clarifications, but I don't want arguing.

Krya was ready. If the Hutts were able to capture this objective, they would gain a huge advantage in the war. Krya readied herself mentally. This was the first time that she would be commanding a squad of fighters, she was not just responsible for herself anymore, they relied on her leadership abilities, and trusted her with their lives. She would not disappoint them.

* Mam, our ships are ready for the fight, what are you orders? * her second in command asked

* Fly in formation IV, stay defensive until we receive direct orders, then switch into formation III, and carry out the orders with the usual effectiveness and focus. *

* Yes mam *

Her entire squad saluted, and headed into their assigned fighters. With the short time that she had had to train these men, she had done a pretty damn good job. Let's just hope that it would pay off on the actual battle field.

The Crytek Fleet had been in parade formation in high orbit over Coruscant's equator when a tremendous Hutt fleet hyperspaced in; the vanguard of a massive surprise attack. Ordinarily, the CNSDF would be quick to withdraw from such an engagement. They were too few in number to throw away ships in the defense of the Republic.

This time was different, however.

This was Coruscant - this was the heart of the Republic itself. If Coruscant fell, then the Republic could very well fall with it. CARD wouldn't run from a fight here; it was too close to home, there was too much at stake. They had no choice but to commit to the defense of Coruscant.

"This is Admiral Elias Thorne to all Crytek Naval Forces. A hostile Hutt fleet has been spotted coming out of Hyperspace above Coruscant. You all know what this means - they're trying to take Coruscant. They want to take our Republic's capital. We may be corporate soldiers, but we're Republic men and women at heart. This is our home, and they're here to burn it to the ground. I'm hereby ordering all units to condition one. You are to engage and annihilate all Hutt forces in orbit over Coruscant - this is not a drill. Further orders will be delivered via encrypted comms."

The CNSDF's response was rapid. With 34 capital ships in orbit over Coruscant, 20 of which were advanced capitals and 1 of which was a massive Dreadnought, they had more than enough firepower to check the advance of a hostile fleet long enough for the Republic to mount a defense.

They broke into five main assault groups. Dagger and Lance groups were the smallest and fastest, composed of 4 Lion-class Frigates, 2 Gallant-class Corvettes, 2 'Guardian' destroyers, and 1 'Spirit of Athens' Cruiser, for a combined total of 9 ships.

Broadsword and Katana groups were the fleets heavy hitters. Each contained 3 'Guardian' Destroyers and 3 'Spirit of Athens' Cruisers.

The final group, Saber group, was the most powerful. It contained both of the fleet's carriers, the supercarrier Spirit of Fire and the pocket carrier Olympus, along with 2 'Spirit of Athens' class destroyers, 3 defense corvettes, and, most important of all, the CNSDF Liberty - a kilometer-long Summit class dreadnought, the pride of the CARD Fleet.

"Order Dagger and Lance to deploy in front of our forces, above us and below us. Distance, both vertical and horizontal, should be 20 kilometers. Broadsword and Katana are to move to our flanks, slightly in front of us. Distance should be 10 kilometers. Saber is to hang back and provide support. Maintain our distance at a solid 120 kilometers, but do not retreat should the Hutts advance. Hold fast here. All starfighter-carrying craft should deploy their strike craft complement. Order our fighters to hang back in reserve. Order the troop transports to the surface. We'll put our men and our tanks on the ground," Thorne ordered.

The transports would escape unhindered - they were in low orbit, and would take them all of twenty seconds to slip away. More importantly, Thorne intended to give the Hutts something else to think about.

"Gunnery, draw a bead on that Hutt Fleet with the Spinal Railguns. Engage them - two salvos. Prepare missile banks and all point defense guns. Elevate rear turrets. I want overlapping fields of fire covering our frontal arc. The moment the Hutts get within secondary weapons range, hit them with everything we have."

The crew complied; the ship's main guns unleashed their first salvo, followed twenty seconds later by a second volley slinging two pairs of supremely powerful slugs at the warships of the Hutt capital ships from well beyond the range of conventional turret-mounted weapons such as Turbolasers or light railguns. Flagship or support ship, it didn't matter - what mattered was forcing them to come and engage Elias on his terms. Chances of a hit were maximized, as each slug was sent at a different target, for a total of four targets.
