Teleport

Excerpt · Biography · Personality and traits · Powers and abilities · Miscellaneous · Roleplays

Teleport was the ability to instantaneously move from one location to another by twisting the Force into dark magicks and then using that to bridge the space and time between two locations. The ability was almost exclusively known to the clans of dark witches on the planet Dathomir, but could be taught to other dark siders who convinced the witches to teach them their dark secrets. Because of the large stamina required to preform this technique, it was preferred by those who primarily used the Force.

Known applications

It is easily distinguished by the smoke-like shadows that one conjures up and surrounds themselves immediately prior to vanishing. This smoke can either be black or green. The amount of stamina required by this ability is dependent on the distance traveled.

Short distances (defined as moving a few meters in any direction) require the least amount of stamina and can be preformed a multitude of times, depending on the skill of the user, before exhaustion occurs. Such uses are typically made as entrances or exits, either for dramatic effect or to inspire awe and mysticism in those who witness it.

To move greater distances—for example, to another room in the same building—requires greater concentration and stamina. The user must be able to envision the room (in this example) that they intend to travel to and hold the image in their head as they teleport. As a result, it is rare for anyone outside of a Master Force-user to be seen using the technique in this fashion. However, even for Masters, this technique is taxing and generally two-to-three uses will exhaust a user of their stamina.

The strongest users of the Force — such as the Grand Matron of the witch clans on Dathomir — can use this ability to move themselves from one location to another anywhere on the planet they are currently located. However, such a usage is rare, as, even for the strongest Force users, moving so far is highly taxing and drains all of their stamina—requiring them to rest after doing so. Additionally, they must still envision their destination perfectly and be able to hold this image in their mind as they preform the technique.

Limitations and drawbacks

Teleport requires more focus and stamina than typical Force abilities, making it undesirable to all except those who specialize in using Force abilities and magicks. It is also incredibly difficult to master, requiring much more care and training than other Force abilities.

As a result of the aforementioned drawbacks, and the visual effect of smoke, which accompanies a teleportation, this Force ability is completely useless in combat scenarios. The smoke makes it easy to identify and, therefore, predict. The stamina drain and focus required to preform it also leaves the user venerable in otherwise tense situations.

Learning

The technique can only be learned from the Dathomiri witches: specifically their matriarchs (the individual clan leaders) or the Grand Matron, revered as the strongest of the witches. However, the witches are protective of their magick and will not yield its secrets unless the seeker proves themselves.

It can also be learned from those dark Force-users who, themselves, have learned it from the Dathomiri witches.

Intent

To recreate this Legends power (which, through Talzin, is technically canon too) but with some stricter limitations to prevent abuse. It is also to be a reward for my future plot concerning my character (@Rhea).

Other comments

Tagging @GABA Ren and/or @Brandon Rhea since I cannot approve my own Lore. Also, as an Admin's Note, I believe that this power should require a plot to obtain.

So I know the last time we allowed this power, we had some major draw backs with it, besides it being draining, but it was even more corrupting due to the darker nature of it. Do you think we should still have that stigma stapled to it?

I don't want to start seeing high ranking Jedi using it and be like Oh, just once...I'll be fine...

Thoughts? @Malon @Brandon Rhea

Yeah, I definitely think a stigma should be attached to it. Because this version is literally the use of dark Force magick, which, I'd imagine, would be highly corruptive if not totally impossible for a Jedi to use (not to mention they'd have to learn it from the proper source, rather than something they could be like loldoingit). @GABA Ren
