TALON VIZLA'S STEALTH BESKAR'GAM

Although heavy armor is the preference for many Mandalorians- especially front line shock troopers- many Mandalorian Bounty Hunters and other loners make use of lighter armor that allows them more mobility and flexibility for completing their tasks, while still offering reliable protection and the intimidating presence of their signature t-visors. With the increasing rarity of pure Beskar, many Mandalorians have turned to lighter armor styles that allow them more flexibility and maneuverability to make up for their decreased defensive properties of inferior armor materials. Like all Mandalorian armor, every one of these suits is unique to their wearer, and the range of customization options is huge. Talon has specifically customized his for stealth, using black colors and various functions. Over the years, many materials have been used for Mandalorian armor, most commonly durasteel and a beskar steel alloy. However, as some Mandalorians used to do, Talon has replaced the parts of his armor made of durasteel with Stygian-triprismatic polymer, a dark substance almost identical to durasteel in strength and texture. It was used for many similar stealth type armor such as Death Troopers or Shadow Troopers, as it warped the most common electromagnetic signals used in passive sensor arrays, making the troopers difficult to track. Such armor is often accompanied by flash grenades. Vizla's black armor as well as signet shows his membership in Clan Vizsla.

LEGALITY

Mandalorian armor, though rare, is not illegal in most places. That said, wearing a full face helmet in public spaces is frowned upon, and often illegal in many core worlds, especially in or near government facilities- not to mention that many identification cards in various systems require a full face photo. This drives many strict adherents of "the way" to operate exclusively on the fringes of the galaxy. Talon is no exception.

INTENT

To specify the customization of Talon's armor (unapproved function; other than that, re-skin); To create a stealth type armor partially made out of Stygian-tryprismatic polymer, a substance similar to durasteel that was used for Death Trooper, Shadow Trooper, and some Mandalorian armor that provides minimal sensor avoidance; also to submit the function "Personal Cloaking Device" for review. This device was used by Shadow Troopers as well as select Mandalorians and Bounty Hunters.

Type and Coverage
Type: Medium
Coverage:
  • Head: A full coverage Stygian-triprismatic polymer helmet with transparisteel t-visor
  • Torso: Segmented beskar-alloy plating over bantha hide undersuit covering most of torso
  • Back: Solid beskar-alloy plating over bantha hide undersuit, covering upper back
  • Upper Arms: Stygian-triprismatic polymer pauldrons and elbow protectors
  • Lower Legs: Armored Boots with Stygian-triprismatic polymer shin plating and knee pads

Functions

Function 1: Scatterweave
  • An incredibly rare and expensive material. Scatterweave is a coating that reflects very little light, making it extremely useful for sneaking at night. It also "scatters" the wearer's heat signature, making it difficult for automated sensor systems or thermal visors to get a precise fix on the wearer's location without intense scans.
  • Force User Compatible?: No
Function 2: Vision Modes
  • This Allows a Helmet HUD to cycle to low-light OR thermal vision modes.
  • Force User Compatible?: Yes
Function 3: Personal Cloaking Device (Unapproved)
  • Version 1: A gauntlet function only acceptable for light or medium armor, portable cloaking devices are extremely useful for sneaks and, quite frankly, cowards who want to avoid a fight. They provide relatively complete invisibility from the naked eye at a distance of more than 10 meters by warping the light around them, but are quite useless under that range. However, one must move slowly, no faster than a walking speed, and cannot attack in any way, or the cloaking is ended, and it only lasts for about 30 seconds anyways. One's heat signature can still be detected easily. The device must be activated and deactivated by manually pushing a button located on gauntlet, and takes 3 seconds to become fully operational, a time in which one is immobile and can be injured or killed quite easily.
  • Force User Compatible?: No
Function 4: Function: Voice Scrambler
  • For the unusually paranoid, this helmet function can scramble a person's voice to unintelligible garbage, while allowing commlink conversations to continue as normal. Alternatively, it can be used to "digitize" a voice into a deep bass tone.
  • Force User Compatible?: Yes

If the cloaking device is not unique to this armor, then it should be submitted separately as an armor function.

If the stygian polymer effectively is identical to scatterweave, that could be posted as a reskin for flavor.

Gotcha; thought I could submit the function with the armor.
Would it be a re-skin of a function? Interesting.
Could you please archive this; will submit the function by itself.

Yes, you can reskin functions. It doesn't really happen often, but this would be a good example.

The cloaking device, however, should definitely be submitted separately. Armor really only needs to be submitted for approval if there is something unique about it that is integral to the armor itself.

Archived on request.
