DESCRIPTION​

The Tachys-class freighter is a popular model of light cargo transport used in the Stygian Reaches, originally designed and manufactured by Dhow Astroyards in the Satrapy, but licensed to a number of other manufacturers for local production. Considered reliable, moderately well armed and protected for a civilian-spec ship, examples can be seen plying their trade at almost every decently trafficked port in the Reaches.

Tachys-class freighters are 35 meters in length, with a sleek, aerodynamic fuselage, coupled with a number of vertical and horizontal stabilizers. The ship's hull is primarily durasteel, however trikiirium armor panels protect the engines and cockpit, plus a magnetic seal over the whole outer skin, giving it decent survivability by Reaches standards; there are also a pair of retractable dual beamer turrets on the dorsal and ventral hull, roughly equivalent to dual medium laser cannons. The Tachys has a top speed of 55 MGLT equivalent, plus a class 4 hyperdrive; it does not come standard with a navicomputer, however, being mostly reliant on hyperspace beacon networks to provide astrogation data. The ship's cargo capacity is a respectable 75 tons.

Legal. Light freighters such as the Tachys are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.
