House De’ Mici is recognised as one of Serenno’s Great Houses. Despite being the current heiress to her family’s titles, Sybella is far more interested in reclaiming their ancestral honour amongst the Jedi given the fact the De’ Mici family were especially well known for their hereditary affinity with the force; records showed that a number of Jedi had been sired amongst their bloodline, with many going on to serve as faithful peacekeepers. Should one of their offspring show potential, it was almost considered customary to offer that child for service amongst the Order.
Yet despite their best intentions, shame fell upon the family. During the Clone Wars (around 19BBY), one of their kin (a prominent Jedi knight) fell to the dark side and allied themselves with Count Dooku; much to the chagrin of their relatives, the ancestor became one of Dooku’s many acolytes. According to rumours, this was not the first Demici to fall and rather than risk further indignity, the relations with the Jedi were severed. Ironically, in separating themselves, House Demici survived what would become known as the great purge; they endured under the Empire long enough to witness the rise of New Republic. When the Jedi Order began its revival, members of the Demici were still hesitant to reinstate their age-old allegiance. They feared history would repeat itself and were concerned with the prospect of producing another potential dark sider.
Yet nothing could deter young Sybella, she had learnt of her family’s legacy from an early age and she desired more than anything to restore it to its former glory. When she came of age, Sybella made her petition and joined the Jedi Order, becoming a Jedi Knight shortly after completing her trials. Shortly after, the Sith Empire would regain control of Serenno, essentially making Sybella an exile.
As expected, Sybella was raised to be a dignified individual. Stoic in the face of danger, the young Jedi is usually quite calm and collected, charging into battle without a moment of hesitation. She is selfless and seeks to defend those who otherwise cannot protect themselves. Sybella also holds the Jedi Order in great esteem and believes strongly in its code.
Inwardly, however, the Serennian heiress is her own worse critic. Though she cherishes her family’s legacy, she also burdens herself with doubt; the shame of her ancestor is especially potent. Though she can not be certain, she feels there are those who look down on her because of her troubling lineage; her greatest fear is becoming like her disgraced kin, especially as Sybella shares some of their less-than-desirable traits. The exile from her homeworld of Serenno also causes the young noble to feel homesick. She wishes she could return but it would mean having to choose between her oath as a Jedi and her duty as apparent heir to the Demici house.
Strong in the force, Sybella frequently experiences visions; she has had these visions since her adolescence and meditates often in order to ponder their potential meanings. Admittedly, some are more difficult to interpret than others and the visions can sometimes be unreliable. Nevertheless, the young Serennian often journals about her experiences during these visions, hoping one day to become more proficient. It should be noted that as a knight, her use of telekinesis is rather adept, especially during combat. Sybella trains in a more offensive style and utilises two lightsabers; she will charge her enemy and seek to overwhelm them with a barge of deliberate blows. As expected, she is also rather agile, using speed to keep her opponents on the back foot.
As it stands, the knight has gone on to develop an impressive array of Force abilities, including (but not limited to) plant surge, animal friendship as well as pyrokinesis - interestingly enough, she also shares this ability with a relative of hers, Kalique Demici, who is a direct cousin. Sybella has also started to experiment with the art of cloaking herself, both visually and in the Force.
