Xath stomped his way towards the door. Yet another arms dealership didn't have the pistol he needed...Ahh, well, there were a few more that he could try. He slammed open the door, almost knocking the kriffin' thing off its hinges.

It'd been a long day. He'd already met a kriffing Jedi on the planet; now he wanted to get off of this kriff-forsaken place. Everyone here was dirty, cruel, stupid, etc...he hoped he'd never have to come back.

However, as he stepped through the doorway, he roughly slammed into someone's shoulder and fell backwards onto the ground. He stood up angrily and turned to get a better look at whoever it was...

Freedom was still something Aska had been adjusting too. Shortly after departing the lab on Coruscant, the young woman had made her way to a spaceport and begrudgingly traded the speeder of Dur’Ago for a ticket for a shuttle bound for the Outer Rim. She needed to put distance between Trench and herself and fate had decided Lothal would be her destination, and what a destination it was. Growing up in a lab, the young clone’s life experiences were exceptionally limited. The sprawling cities of Coruscant were a shock to her senses, the hustle of everyone on the surface made life feel rushed and strengthened her feelings of inadequacy. Lothal was vastly different. Expansive plains of grass and dirt laid below as the shuttle cut through the atmosphere, banking slightly and allowing Aska to get a better view of the surface. She spotted a small farmstead and began to day dream about how peaceful a life farming would be, and she would continue to think of this until well after she had landed.

As she walked the streets of Capital City, Aska began to think that here was a bit more reminiscent of Coruscant but that was a mere grasp at trying to connect what she was seeing to what she knew. What would her next step be? What was a typical member of society supposed to do?

“I suppose a job would be a good place to start,” she muttered to herself. After a quick interaction with a young Rodian woman, Aska was pointed towards the market where she could search for work, food and with any luck, some new clothes. It wouldn’t take long, however, before she found herself watching as a young man covered in dark, torn clothing walk from a weapons dealer before bumping into a giant porcine creature. “That must be a Gamorrean,” Aska whispered as she watched out of the corner of her eye.

Xath turned viciously on the pig. "Watch where you're going, buddy...got it? I wouldn't want you to soil these robes."
He pulled out a blaster and displayed it for the creature to see. "You mess with me, I mess with you...and I think, in the end, you'll look a mite worse than I will." The pig looked at him lazily and shrugged before turning back towards the door and walking away.

He noticed a woman nearby watching him intently. "What're you looking at?" he questioned.

As the robed man flashed his blaster at the Gamorrean, Aska tried to avert her gaze. This man was clearly a source of trouble she did not need nor want, but she found she couldn't help herself. She wanted to see how the Gamorrean would react but found herself disappointed when he shrugged off the threat and continued on with his day. 'Too bad,' she thought. 'I guess this planet has the potential to be a dangerous place,'

"What're you looking at?"

The question came as a surprise. Aska, who had continued to absently stare ahead at the near-miss of violence, suddenly found herself on someone's radar. 'Just my luck,' Lowering her hood, she looked the man up and down as he kept his attention on her. A bit taller than her, but exceptionally thin. There was something... dangerous about him, though.

"Not much, by the looks of you," Word vomit. Great.

Xath laughed. "Lady, before you go criticizing the way people look I suggest you..." He trailed off, studying her. He wasn't necessarily sensing any activity in the force coming from her, but something was certainly off...

"Which goes to say, we've gotten off on the wrong foot." He held out his hand after replacing his blaster. "Name's Xath, Xath Skous. Lookin' for some weapons here...might I ask what your business on this dump of a planet is?"

As the man's rebuttal began to taper off, Aska noticed his eyes scanning her over. While it was much the same as how she had just evaluated him, it made the woman uncomfortable. He seemed like he was looking for something, but he made no mention of what that may be. Nevertheless, she pulled the cloak shut over her white jumpsuit.

"Which goes to say, we've gotten off on the wrong foot. Name's Xath, Xath Skous. Lookin' for some weapons here...might I ask what your business on this dump of a planet is?"

With his hand extended, the man dropped the aggresive demeanor and suddenly seemed much more hospitable. Almost harmless.

"Uh, I'm Aska. Just... Just Aska," She took his hand for a moment but wasted no time in pulling it back to her side. "I only just arrived here from the Core. Haven't decided if I'm sticking around, though if everyone is as delightful as you, I doubt I'll be here long," Aska tried to subdue her smirk but hiding her emotions never was one of he strong suits, a trait she can thank the host of her genetic material for.

Xath shook his head, grinning. "Oh trust me, most people hear are much, much more delightful than I am...not to mention, when in Rome..." He took notice of her jumpy behavior; he couldn't blame her.

"Aska? What an interesting name..."
He paused. "And the Core? I haven't been there in quite a while...wouldn't be good for one of, say, my profession." He laughed.

"I probably won't be sticking around much longer either...not much here for me."

"Thanks, it... It was my grandmother's," she lied, though it wasn't really that far off from the truth. It was what Xath said next that caught Aska's attention.

"And the Core? I haven't been there in quite a while...wouldn't be good for one of, say, my profession. I probably won't be sticking around much longer either...not much here for me."

"And what profession might that be?" She was intrigued. She was, after all, searching for work and she could use any idea she could get. Judging by this man's demeanor and attire, she doubted it would be a fully worthwhile career but she still wanted to know. Though, he did say he was looking for weapons. Perhaps this man was involved in the same type of life she was trying to escape. Maybe it would be better if she had just left.

"On second thought..."

Xath watched her reaction, but he wasn't about to risk it... "My profession? I sell weapons as well. Looking for a specific one, just couldn't find it..." He turned back to look woefully at the weapons dealership.

He wasn't much of an actor but hoped it'd work; not to mention, he didn't want someone like her knowing his true...profession.

He fingered his lightsaber through his robe. "Now that I've answered the question, might I ask you the same?"

As Xath turned back to face the weapons shop behind him, Aska contemplated what being an arms dealer would require. It was no doubt a dangerous line of work and one that she would think was generous in reward. Still, it would require a great deal of connections in the proper worlds. Not likely something she would be able to entertain.

"Now that I've answered the question, might I ask you the same?"

This was the longest Aska had ever spoken with someone who wasn't a member of the science team from her lab, a fact that she had always dreamed of. This man, however, made the hairs on her neck stand on end. Noticing movement from the man's waist under his robe, she took a step back.

"I'm actually in the midst of looking for work. Something to help get me to the next stop on my travels, where ever that may be," Aska replied. In truth, she still had the five hundred credits that Rahmier had given her on Coruscant plus a little left over from the sale of her speeder. She could afford to leave Lothal now, but not much else. "But with that, unless you're looking to hire, I should get going," Aska forced a smile and reach back, pulling her hood over her head once again and turned to walk away.

Xath nodded as she spoke before hesitating as she turned to leave. He winced before calling; "Actually, I've lost interest in the business. I'm trying to find someone to replace me...no use in letting all these weapons go to waste."

He hesitated before reaching into his robes and drawing a saber. For some reason he had a second spare on him; given the bounty for these things, she'd have plenty of money to get started...and he was feeling generous.

As she turned, he tossed it at her. She caught it as he spoke. "Go sell it to Durr or something...it should get you a good start on whatever...business you'd like to do." He winked and waved over his shoulder as he turned around, heading back towards his ship.

The metallic object landed in Aska’s hands immediately as she had turned to face Xath once more. Puzzled, she looked down to examine it. The bottom half of the item was covered in a thin rubber for comfort in the holder’s hand while a thin orange band separated it from the second half, a smooth steel cylinder. At the end of the cylinder were four sharp fins that ascended beyond the end of the hilt. She had never seen anything like it and wasn’t even sure what it was used for. Stabbing, perhaps? Flipping the device around in her hand, she noticed a small red button at the bottom of one of the fins. With a furrowed brow, Aska held the object ahead of her and was nearly about to press the button but stopped herself. She didn’t know what this thing would do. For all we knew, it was an explosive.

“Uh, thanks?” the woman replied but as she looked up to see Xath had already left, she turned her attention to the weapons shop that Xath had left. He had suggested she take it to the owner to sell. He could explain this object to her, she was sure.

As she entered the shop, the dust in the air caused Aska to cough slightly. Weapons of a variety of makes and designs filled the wall racks and shelving units upon first examination. Walking further into the building, a counter showed up towards the back with a Duros man examining a disassembled rifle. As she walked into view the Duros began to speak.

“I’m sorry but… I can’t understand you. Maybe I should go somewhere else,” Aska said quietly, but the Duros held up his hand asking her to wait. He shouted into the store’s back room and a translator droid soon appeared in the doorway.

“Welcome, human. What is it you’re looking for today?” the droid repeated in basic.

“I was given this… thing,” Aska put the object on the counter. “But I’m not sure what it is. I was hoping-“ Before she could finish her sentence, the Duros’ expression told her he did, in fact, know what this was. He quickly snapped it up and began examining it closely, muttering away excitedly.

“You don’t know what this is? This is a lightsaber!” the droid translated.

“A… lightsaber?” Aska responded, confused. The droid nodded, choosing to speak on it’s own instead of waiting for it’s master.

“Yes, a lightsaber. A laser sword carried by the Jedi Knights. Exceptionally rare. Incredibly dangerous in the untrained hand,” The Duros continued speaking as he evaluating the weapon. “Master Bundara wishes to know how you acquired this?”

“It was just given to me, actually. By a man who had just left your store. He said he was a weapons dealer. I’m surprised he didn’t try selling it to you when he was here,”

The Duros laughed at her reply but said nothing. Instead, he held the item ahead and pressed the activation stud. A glowing red beam of energy erupted forward, partnered with a low hum. Aska, in awe, caught her jaw dropping as she watched but it didn’t take long before Durr retracted the blade and tossed the weapon down ahead of him, his hands surrending to the air.

“We don’t want this,” the droid translated. “A red blade is never held by a Jedi. That weapon belonged to a member of an evil cult. Get it out of here. Get it out of here now,” the droid demanded for it’s master. Confused, Aska picked up the weapon and was about to speak, but the Duros interrupted her and began ushering her to the door.

Xath glanced over his shoulder to watch as she was busily shuffled out of the door, obviously confused. He hadn't learned much; she'd most likely been in a hole underground for the past thousand years. She was clueless.

He'd pulled off his dark robes to reveal normal civilian clothes; most likely she wouldn't recognize the little of his face she had seen. Furthermore, he dropped his voice into a raspy whisper.

He then walked up and "accidentally" fell into her, apologizing profusely before becoming fixated on the saber. "Where'd you get that?" He asked suspiciously, hoping his acting was enough. Worse case scenario? She'd have a strange sense of déjà vu.

Aska walked from the shop in bewilderment. The lightsaber in her hand felt heavier than it did before her visit to the weapons shop, most likely from the dread that was forming a heavy knot in her stomache. The Duros had gone from his thrilled reaction to one of fear as he ignited the crimson blade and simply the colour was enough to course fear through him. 'What the hell am I going to do with this?' she thought but was interrupted by a stranger bumping into her shoulder and spewing apologies but soon stopped as he caught a glance of the weapon she still held in her hand.

"Where'd you get that?" he asked. Unsure of what to say, Aska quickly placed her hand deep in her robes and slid the weapon into her belt. She didn't know what his reaction might be and considering the store owner had told her it was an 'exceptionally rare' item to be in possession of.

"Oh, just a hydrospanner," she lied before suddenly getting the sensation that she knew who this man was despite that being impossible.

Xath eyed her warily; it would seem as if his acting had improved significantly since the last time her tried...of course, that ended with a lightsaber fight with a Jedi.

He hesitated, as if fearful of who she might be, before commenting, "Well, I've, uhh, got some stuff to do...nice running into you." At least that part wasn't acting.

Regardless of what she said, he'd let her have the saber. It'd been a sort of experiment, try to see who she really was...and it hadn't helped much. Oh well; he had two others. He could live without the third.

He walked up to the arms dealer and winked. "I'm lookin' for some weapons...maybe two or three. FWMB-10's. Thing is, I don't really want to go through the trouble of getting a liscense...if you know what I mean."

The change in clothing had an amazing effect for whatever reason; the man immediately nodded and pulled him behind the counter into a door marked as "Keep Out." "Let's see if I've got what you need, mate."

The passer-by left as soon as he had arrived. Aska, shrugging the encounter off, made her way further into the market in search of employment. While Lothal seemed peaceful, the young woman couldn't help but feel uneasy and these feelings were only strengthened after meeting the man Xath. There was something sinister about him, of that she was sure. The sooner she was off world, the better off she would be and the only way that would happen was if she was able to come up with some additional credits.

"You, girl!"

The call caught Aska's attention and she turned to see an Iridonian male motioning her over. Cautiously, she approached the man.

"Can I help you?" she asked as calmly as she could.

"I think it would be more appropriate to ask if I can help you, girl," The Zabrak replied. "You look lost. Perhaps you're searching for something specific?" Aska nodded slowly.

"Work, actually. I'm looking for work," Whether or not the man was sincere in his offer, she felt it would be foolish to pass up an opportunity. "I'm trying to make some money to get myself off world,"

"That so? Where ya tryin' to get, girl?" The man's voice seemed to grow more sly with each passing syllable.

"I'm not sure yet. Away from here, that's all I know," Aska stopped a few meters from the Iridonian and met his eyes. "Know of anyone looking for an extra set of hands?" The man now smiled a toothy grin and waved his arm towards an alleyway.

"In fact, I do. Come, let us talk more privately,"

"Let's see...we've just got a shipment in, me and the mates here. Straight of the black market, apparently directly from some Syndicate. Oi, mate, we'll let you have it cheap...thing is, you'll have to meet some of our men a distance from here, middle a' nowhere for a transfer like this."

Xath nodded. "I'll bring the money, just give me the location." It took a bit for them to settle on a price, but when they were done, the man handed Xath a slip of paper. "Be there tonight, I'd say as late as you can. Some a' tha boys'll meetcha there." The two shook on it, and the deal was done.

It seemed all too easy.

"So what is this job you're saying you can offer me?" Aska requested of the Iridonian as they made their way into an alleyway that would separate them from the crowds of the market. If it wasn't just the two of them she may have found her anxiety levels increasing but for now, she felt as safe as she would have been mingled with the population. The man turned and faced her, but looked over the woman's shoulder to ensure they had not been followed.

"It's a simple job, really," he began. " An accomplice of mine has organized a supply exchange on a farm out in the plains but me and my boys have found ourselves a bit preoccupied by orders from up the chain of command. I just need someone to take the shipment to the co-ordinates and make sure the trade goes smoothly, then bring the new supplies back to our warehouse. You do that, and I can pay you, say... Two hundred credits?" The Iridonian smiled the same toothy grin and pretended to wipe some dust from the tip of his thumb with his middle finger.

"That is not what I was expecting," Aska's reply was sincere. "You're trusting a stranger to supervise your exchange because? Seems pretty irrational. And what's in the crates?" Crossing her arms, the woman placed her right hand inside her cloak and wrapped her grasp on the SE-45 tucked in her jumpsuit. This didn't make sense and the hairs on her neck began to stand on end.

"Don't ask too many questions. You don't need to know what you're moving. You're just moving it. And you seem like a good girl, what can I say?" The Iridonian held his arms wide and chuckled, keeping his eyes locked on Aska's. "Besides, you wouldn't get far. Look, I'm just too busy to do it and my superiors would just see it as an excuse. You pull this off and maybe it will lead to more work. So what do we say? Do we have a deal?" Aska thought for a moment. Her training on Coruscant should be enough to keep her safe.

"Two fifty. Then you've got a deal,"

((Tired as hell, but I changed my mind and decided to write up a reply anyway.))

Xath walked out of the shop, confident he'd get what he wanted. Nevertheless...things could always go wrong. It'd be best if he kept his sabers on him...

Hours later, he was headed towards the meeting point, an old abandoned building. It was fitting for what he was there for. He walked up and entered, surveying the room he had entered.

He hadn't been given an exact time--they must just not be there yet. He shrugged and leaned against a wall, waiting for someone to arrive...

Aska grunted as she dropped the last crate on the hover-cart, wiping the sweat from her forehead. Disgruntled, she picked up her and tossed it on the two seated speeder that was attached. Had she known she was going to be responsible for loading the locked containers alongside the delivery supervision, she would have asked for more credits. Nevertheless, the task was done and she would soon be leaving for the co-ordinates the Iridonian would be providing. Leaning on the cart, Aska threw her head back and took a deep breathe in before closing her eyes and allowing it to fall back forward. Upon opening her eyes again, she noticed that her white jumpsuit had gotten numerous dark stains from the dust and grime that was covering her cargo. 'Of course,' she thought to herself in disgust but took solace in the fact that now her apparel wasn't quite as attention grabbing. Reaching back to her cloak, she threw the fabric over her shoulders just as the Zabrak arrived.

"Good to go, girl?" he asked as he looked over the cart and counting the containers. Satisfied she had everything loaded, he tossed her a datachip. "There is where you're going. From what I understand, the cargo should already be there. Just unload the cart and pick up whatever was left for us,"

"You know, a droid would have been nice for getting this stuff all prepped. I'm getting under-cut," Aska complained as she jumped in to the speeder's driver seat. "So what happens if I get there and no one left anything? Just bring the cargo back?" she continued.

"I don't think that'll be a problem," the man slapped the speeder and motioned for Aska to get moving.

"Wait. How do I know if I'm picking up everything I'm supposed too? You've told me nothing. Absolutely nothing," Aska began to contemplate just what she had gotten herself into, but the Iridonian began to grow agitated.

"Stop asking questions, girl. This is going to be easy. Now go!"

The speeder roared down the Lothal highway system where only the glow of the moon and the highway lights were illuminating the path. Aska knew there was more going on here that she was aware of. She'd have to be a moron to think otherwise. With her one hand on the steering controls, she used her other to pull her blaster from her jumper and set it down on the seat next to her, making sure to turn the safety off. The farmstead was quickly approaching, and she needed to be ready for anything.

Bringing the speeder to a halt, Aska moved out slowly into the dark yard and tossed her cloak on to the driver seat before reaching down and grabbing the SE-45, aiming it towards the old farm house. It looked abandoned, but she wasn't taking any chances. From where she had parked the speeder, she had to walk around the corner of the building to find the door that led inside.
